Motiveless Murder
- Egged on by others, a teen fatally shot a man Thursday afternoon on the South Side after demanding to know where he was from, prosecutors said today.
Iman Frison, 18, was ordered held without bail Saturday in connection with the slaying of Andre Hunter, 19, about 2:40 p.m. Thursday in the Winneconna Parkway neighborhood.
While walking home from school near the 7700 block of South Stewart Avenue, Hunter and a witness were approached from behind by Frison, said Assistant Cook County State's Attorney Jacqueline Kwilos. Frison pointed a revolver at Hunter's chest and asked him where he and the witness were from, Kwilos said.
After Hunter moved the gun out of his way, other people surrounding Frison encouraged him to shoot Hunter, Kwilos said. Frison shot Hunter five times, including three times after the victim had fallen and the gun had jammed, Kwilos said.
- Cook County Judge James Brown shook his head as Kwilos detailed the shooting in Saturday's bond hearing.
"So the motive of the shooting was no motive?" Brown asked Kwilos. "He just shot him to shoot him?"

I grew up living on beautiful curved Winneconna Parkway many years ago when I attended Leo High School. It still has the lagoon in the middle separating the east and westbound lanes. Great for summer fishing and ice skating during the winter. Drive north on Eggleston from 79th St. and check the first (winding) street. All Irish back in the day. Now it's just another Englewood/Gresham bloodbath. Fond memories of what was once among Chicago's best kept secrets.
