Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas to all of our readers. As always, if you are lucky enough to have the day off, enjoy the blessings of the day. If you are working, be safe and make it home to enjoy an off-hour dinner, presents and the company of those who missed you while you were away.

Light posting as usual.

Thank you for saying MERRY CHRISTMAS instead of Happy Holidays like most people and business these days. I really appreciate it. Like one of my friends said "You can built a great career on anti-Christian remarks through the big networks, but make an "anti-gay" remark, and your career is killed."
M E R R Y C H R I S T M A S to you all!. Enjoy the day, the family and love.

It's bad enough working midnights on Christmas, but then you have to deal with cannibals in 025. Dude decides to decapitate and dismember a fellow human on Christmas. Evil on this most holy of days! Horrific!

Written by some talented cop somewhere, here is an answer that I thought I would share.

Oh you're a cop? That's cool. I wanted to do that when I was a kid. What do you make?

WHAT DO I MAKE?

I make it possible to keep back the chaos every day.

I make 5 minutes seem like a lifetime when I am fighting a suspect while waiting for back up.

I make going to work for your family's safety a duty that I will die for.

I make myself work holidays, nights, during hurricanes, riots, terrorist attacks and other disasters...... a standard day while you complain about your 9-5 in your air conditioned office.

I make the fact that I may not get to eat, or get a break or cannot use the restroom when I need to, part of my job.

I make running towards the gunfire and bad guys, so that you remain safe,an automatic reaction.

I make getting shot at, stabbed, spit on, punched and kicked at work, an expected part of my day.

I make working for people, who most often dislike me, swear at me, and complain about everything I do or do not do.

I make working 12 hour shifts until 6 AM, my day at the office, so you and your family can sleep safely, a way of life.

Today I might make the ultimate sacrifice to save your life.

I make a difference, WHAT DO YOU MAKE?

During this Christmas season, I give thanks to all my fellow law
enforcement officers regardless of their rank, title, department, or agency. And for those who are trying to diminish our promised pensions, May they hold their manhood's cheap! Shame! Shame!

Hallelujah! Amen and pass yonder ammunition over by there, brothers!

"GOD Bless Us Everyone!"

God Bless the most splendidest and bestest soldiers in his earthly army... Those wild-assed, untamed and out of control Chicago Patrolmen!

A dude on the 2500 Block of Ridgeway cut his boyfriend's head off last night.

As the beat car pulled up, he held the guy's head in his hand and was screaming:

"440 for the year bitches! 440!!"

At least he has a sense of humor if not extreme violent homosexual rage.

Merry Christmas to All. God Bless you and your families, If you have a free moment today to reflect upon what you have, what you may want and say a little prayer for those officers and their families who are working today, where ever they may be working. Today is the very first Christmas I'm am spending as a retired Sergeant, and I can tell you all that it is a change, After many years of working all of the major holidays this is a bit different, I 'm feeling guilty that I'm off and that you guys and girls are working. I will continue to hold my police family close to my heart and will salute your efforts to make Chicago safe. God Bless all of you !!

"I make a difference, WHAT DO YOU MAKE?"

12/25/2013 11:44:00 AM

And the public says?

"We're so sick and tired of you cops getting accolades just for doing your JOBS! You're no more special than an office worker or construction worker. Get off your high horses and stop thinking so much of yourselves because WE are starting to resent you for it."

Everytime you get out of that squad, think about this.

Everytime you go in that dark building, think about this.

Everytime you beat the bushes looking for a lost child or senior, think about this.

Everytime you see that muzzle flash two blocks down the street and you hit the gas to go after the reports ring in your ears and register in your mind, think about this.

Everytime you see a toddler on a ventilator with his eyeballs full of blood and his head swollen to twice it's normal size while the oxygen thieves who did it are fake crying in the waiting room, think about this.

Whenever you're plain clothes and prowling alleys at night for burglars and you see a young and clueless mother out with the van and the kids and you approach close enough for her to say "Gee, I hope you're The Police," think about this.

When you have the solemn duty of giving one of your comrades back to dear Mother Earth in the hope personified by Jesus Christ that you'll see them again someday?

Think about this...

So many people willing to invoke their right to prove how little they actually know about Policing and Policemen.

Merry Chistmas...

Protect yourselves and protect each other because so many so fervently wish us ill will and demand we show gratitude for it...

To all those who got stuck working on this day and all other holidays and other special occasions Merry Christmas. Take care of yourselves and your families and the ones that you love. Us coppers know the great work we do and how important it is that we are there doing our jobs every day 24/7 365 days a year no matter what. On this day nothing but positive thoughts because tomorrow everything is back to the rat race and reality.

It feels very strange not to be working today. This is my first Christmas as a retiree and as much as. I am enjoying being with my actual family, it feels strange to no longer have my police family. God Bless to all especially those of you who are working today. Stay safe. I miss being the police. Hopefully this feeling will pass.

Does anyone remember "The Night Before Christmas"written in about 1969-1971 by Detective Jimmy Carroll in Area 5. Carroll turned out to be a goof, but his version of the night before Christmas was a masterpiece. If anyone has it, it would be great to see it again
I came on the job in 1967 and out of the academy before I turned 21 years of age. The King riots and the 68 convention was where I grew up. Just reminiscing.

Maybe you haven't noticed, but the country isn't in any particular crisis, for a change.

The man has access to a phone, the internet and a really fast plane. It's all good.

Just be grateful there's nothing so major to REQUIRE that the President be in the White House this Christmas Day.

According to polls...

21% of people here say "Happy Holidays"

The rest say, "Feliz Navidad".

..a few say "Bah! Humbug."

and "Say What!" was occasionally heard.

Merry Christmas all from someone old enough to remember when you could pick which day you wanted off; Christmas Eve or Christmas Day and when Jewish cops would work their days off to give the other guys a break.

to 1140pm and 1151pm---I am the original poster, 27 years--all of it on the street, in the district, in a car, answering jobs and I'll compare my level of service given to my fellow officers (most important) and to the people against all of yours.

I earned my 13B furlo after 20+ years of waiting for it. I don't want an inside job, but I have been offered office spots several times.

Before I had kids, I used to be the guy who took the Christmas and Christmas Eve shifts to let the officers with families off. Same with Easter. The Jewish guys did the same, we took care of them on their High Holy Days---That was teamwork,,we don't see that with "the me generation"

You guys are part of the Z generation- and want it all without having to pay dues for it

You guys need to grow up.
