So after being removed from office, stripped of all responsibility, and declared a member "not in good standing," where does the no-longer-president serve out his time?Can we assume his detail is canceled?
The District vacancies closed three days ago and watch bids were posted two weeks ago. Does the Department return him to his previous spot or will he be traveling to the nether regions of Chicago?

First things first, you should recieve the same pay you were getting prior to being elected as a union official. This will keep people honest, they will hold office because they care and not for the money. We have checks and balances in our union, the problem is the majority officers don't attend union meetings or vote. More officers read and comment on this blog then attend or vote. The recent shake up was needed to wake officers up and start getting involved. I think everyone of the seven deadly sins have been or are being broken(wrath, greed, sloth, pride, lust, envy, and gluttony.) everyone check your moral compus.
Don't lose focus folks....I don't want anyone on the current FOP staff arguing next contract. If they couldn't/wouldn't help the president get a letter to city hall on time (with their many years of riding FOP desks) they should all be tossed on their asses! They also were around "negotiating" when we got fucked over last time. They all need to go!
Shields should go to 005 or 006, just like officers that were assined to MSF and TRU and were dumped, even that we lived on the northwest side and came from west side districts.

Speaking as a retiree and someone who was once proud to say he was a member of FOP I felt that I must comment at this time. We were always shit on by the city and had to take whatever was offered to us. When the FOP became our representative we came out of the dark ages and we had some say about what would happen with us. Over the years we didn't always agree with past admimistrations, however, we were reprsented professionally. The brave men & women of the CPD deserve nothing less that 1st class,professional representation. Do not let youselves fall back to the dark ages. Please think long and hard when voting in the next election.
Lets not forget, by all accounts Mikey was a hard working effective cop before he got caught up in the dirty union game. Out on the street, he still has a lot he can offer the CPD. Welcome him back as one of the working stiffs.

I write this with great excitement because of the recent events in my police life. You see the other morning I woke up, sauntered over for my morning squirt, went by my altar where I keep "truth" my weapon and "justice" my badge and kissed both good morning and remembered just how great it was to be a cop. I ate my Cheerios with orange juice because I am lactose intolerant and read up on Rahm. Once I outfitted myself with truth and justice I made my way into the golden shores of good ole 019. This is where I found my day started out fantastically. You see I was informed that Johnny Mac was able to make it back from his horrific injuries the night that he had to taser a mental causing a pinched nerve in his neck. Maybe now he will be able to move his mobile home from in front of the Houndstooth. I was glad to know that my brothers and sisters on midnights were getting an extra man of Johnny Mac's weight back into the rotation. It's skull cracking time Johnny Mac!
But wait it gets even better! After the events from the FOP hall I have it on top secret double tactical hush hush info that our recently suspended FOP president Mikey "the letter" Shields will be returning to our district to bolster up the man power. I understand that Mikey tried to used comp time and was told "Tuesday might work but you are not getting the weekends, the book is full". This will be great fun! I hope he comes to days instead of midnights. It would be invaluable for me to trade war stories with Mikey. I could tell him how I helped ouster inspector expressway from our district. As I understand it though there might be a spot for Mikey open on the "entertainment team" and really what could be better for him? Standing out on Clark street glad handing the masses while writing up tow cases for the parking violators and then forgetting to turn in said paperwork... This is gonna be great!!!!!
Rumor has it Masters is trying to get him over in South Chicago Heights.
Somebody above has a really good point about a new crew having to learn the rules and laws pretty quickly on the fly. My suggestion would be to ask every attorney in the CPD wearing a blue shirt to come in, and ask those that answer to spend a few days poring through materials for the different issues.
Somebody is gonna have to get a handle on things really quickly here, and there is plenty of brainpower out there to do it while kicking the entire current and recent crews out.

Where do you think he is going to go? How many former high-up's at the FOP have you seen sitting next to you in roll call on the south or west side? If these guys were really fighting for us and really trying to take the city to the cleaners for us. Do you really think the powers that be would let them be rewarded with sweet assignments when their term was up? I realize that many retire after their stint at FOP to avoid going back to work, but not all of them do.
Send him to 004 on the 1st watch. There will be competition to see who the bigger douche is. Shields? Or 499? They can get in a circle and stroke each other and share their stories as to how bad they've screwed coppers. Shields screws with our money and 499 screws us with his presence. Maybe they can hug it out and tug it out.

War in Iraq has been long over with. I served and was just glad to be home and working. I and other veterans from the war didn't come back to be praised or in need of favoritism. Please don't add us to your 019 drama queen

We could use him to direct traffic at 130th street and Torrance. Sometimes it takes an hour to get through the construction zone.
He could hammer the fools from ford who think they are not bound by the traffic laws over there.
He could hammer all the Hoosiers who stack up in the bike lane and then MF you as they force their way back into the traffic lane.
Don't even get me started on the trucks that block the intersection all day causing major grid lock instead of waiting for the next light.

Does any1 one remember this awhile back? When everyone thought that Mike was going "to be the leader of a new generation. Tourch passing & all that." A true Camelot was going to take place at FOP 7 with this highly intellectual kid who was going to bring the members benefits that we could only dream of.

Two things: 019 Dist. Dog is the funniest thing ever, and The Mexican needs to get a sense of humour; 2. Shields may be right or just making up this story about the contracts being fixed. Either way, there would be no proof. But he is done, and soon there will be a new election. But will things really change?

Was getting friendly with him wanting to be assigned to the Hall. Now that Graham suckered Street into the coup I guess his ass kissing failed. But you all will be in good hands if the $23,000,000.00 forgiver and apologist for the city, Graham gets elected. He can draw in his 20 yrs as a footman with weekends off , to counter the city attorneys at contract time. See, the thing is, anything could be true in this city when there's an allegation of corruption.
The reasons I doubt shields (and not the allegation right now):
He has a proven track record of lying to the membership.
He stood at the meeting and said that Geiger informed him of this fraud. He said Geiger told him "over 100 times."
Geiger is on record saying he was never a part of the negotiations team and would not confirm mikes allegations.
Mike allegedly knew about it in march 2012. That's 21 months ago. He conveniently tells the suntimes this the day before the meeting where people are able to put their name in to run for union election.
Mike texts the suntimes through the meeting.
On yeah, and fuck you Mike.

Bullshit. Guys have been investigated for murder and came back on the job. Alcohol rehab, drug rehab, all sorts of accusations, real and bogus. This is not a bunch of altar boys. He can work til 55 and then adios. One thing about disgraced cops, they have absolutely no shame. If he took a few months off, got some therapy, went south and came back with a sun-tan, holds his head up and back to work. A minor bump in the road. Now if he were in prison it might be a little worse. Difficult but still not impossible.

Graham wasn't elected to his trustee position, there was a vacancy and Mike S. put him there and board approved. McCarthy and Saul whatever were cherry picked as field reps also. None took his side here.
I do not believe Mike S. has anything. To make allegations like that stick the evidence would have to be so overwhelming and compelling and rock solid. I don't believe Mike has it at all. It is a case of cheese sliding off the cracker. Or, the conspiracy people are right, he purposely missed the letter sending deadline and purposely fucked the union and will surface with a good job somewhere else.
Either way, I do not believe Shields has the slightest shred of evidence to show fraud or collusion.

Ahhh the good old days, we had a star list and an alpha list, came out monthly. Killed lots of trees. And mountains of daily bulletins came out, well, daily. And the teletype machine instead of fax, the rotary fingerprint card sending thingie. Took 20 minutes to transmit a fingerprint card but they were high resolution.
And the air, oh boy, the air was clean and sex was dirty. Those were the days.
Lets all get something straight....The IL FOP is a great organization that has helped many of us coppers get the pay and benefits we deserve! Now for arrogant Mike Shields....well Karma is a bitch and CPD men and woman know what to do. Clean house & get some new leaders in there.
