Shields appears to be subscribing to the philosophy that the best defense is a good offense... he sure is throwing a lot of shit out there.

Rham's missing finger
I just saw on wgn news that the FOP is asking Mike Shields to step down!! I'm glad I'm not a PO anymore, have a contract, and will be getting my retro...
The rats are scurrying to keep themselves from being picked off. Mike began the process of exposing the dirt and misdeeds of the past regime(s) and they're trying anything in their power to keep from drowning as the ship goes down. Mikes got brass balls but he obviously has never heard the phrase "you can't fight city hall".
And yes, Rahm has probably had a perpetual boner since this news broke.

Quite honestly, All the FOP needs to be replaced and suspended. Because they only represent themselves, their own agenda to save themselves, use favors for themselves and ARE IN BED WITH THE CITY. They forgot that the more they screw with shady deals, the more we loose in benefits and salary. As Rham laughs so hard all the way to the bank!
I hope the State Lodge can do a better job to represent us as we are to start a real battle for our new contract. We need a FOP that doesn't give in to the city and get us well represented during the contract. Please DO NOT LEAVE US hanging with DONAHUE, DOHERTY and so forth, they are corrupted and will sell us out too.
Save the fishing tournament at all cost. Everything else is useless.
I do believe that the contracts are fixed, it is so obvious. First of all, we are crucified by the city of Chicago (Rham Emmanuel)left and right. Rham basically spits on the face of the people who protect this city and no one does anything. Rham treats the police like we need to go kill ourselves for trying to do a good thing and live in card board boxes and this message is loud and clear. Rham's administration people take a 10% raise year after year and yet the police wants at minimum the cost of living raise and Rham he calls us all sorts of horrible things and makes us look bad. The police protect the city, NOT Rham or McGoof, the police do, day in and day out. While Rham and McGoof have nice schedules, get to go home in decent hours, sleep safely and tight, the police is out there making a difference and yet, no one does a thing to stop the amount of lack of regard to remind Rham that the police does matter. So, yes the contracts are fixed because if we cannot have a decent raise then every single administrative of Rham's team should not be banking on high raises.
I was detailed their from V.R.I. It was a box within a box patrol. Face to face relief for lunch. If someone got shot I would have to do a to/from.
All people at FOP should be suspended. It is not right that these people have drank from our dues for decades and gotten so fat and lazy so to speak that they are completely useless to the membership and totally self serving. Suspending Shields will not fix the problem.
These guys enrich their salaries and pensions on our dime while our piddly pension is threatened to be cut making it smaller than ever. I am tired of enriching crooks. I am tired of corruption. Removing a newcomer to the corruption is nothing, get rid of them ALL. Donahue, Dougherty, Aguilar, all trustees everyone....out.

Why are Donahue and Dougherty so afraid of the allegations that Shields has leveled ? What the hell is going on ? They wanted him out of that office tonight, what do they need to get out of that computer ?
Shields was not deposed tonight, the Past President of this Lodge, The Past President of the State Lodge and the Past President of the National FOP, John Dineen, told Kevin Graham that this was an illegal action. Kevin stood up there for an hour and 15 minutes behind Mike Shields like a big Jadrool and finally after an on duty Sgt talked to him on the stage, he finally left the stage.
Several other people were thrown out of the meeting including several followers of Bill Dougherty who looked and smelled like homeless persons even tried to tape the meeting.
All I know is that this type of shit (crooked sell out politico figures at FOP) has been going on for years probably decades, nothing will ever change unless we as Po's are united against the city itself. To many cape crusaders making unnecessary arrests aka numbers for bosses who in turn make them good numbers for the higher up, you all know who you are making those numbers. Keep up the good work because at the end it doesn't mean shit someday your going to get f%$ed just like the rest of us. My philosophy is this (answer your calls and back your fellow officers) you do that and your fine. I guaranty you stop all these numbers for the higher ups for a while or indefinitely and the city will be in chaos, then the city will beg us to sit and talk, but that my brothers and sisters will never happen because again there are too many cape crusaders out there. Just my two cents.....God bless all you brothers and sisters in blue.

Having spent a few tours of duty partnered with Mike, it's funny he cause I always had the impression that he thought he was the smartest guy on the watch. I didn't vote for him come election time, but looking at him now, apparently he thinks he's the smartest guy in the city. This shit has blown up in his face and he only has his ego to blame.

We should make it a lottery and pick new personnel every 2 months. You can't get picked more than once to give everybody a chance. Think about it, 2 month vacation with a bump in salary to do nothing. The only work you might have to do is organize the annual fishing trip, golf outing and picnic but only if it falls during your tenure. Oh yeah, you will have to send out a newsletter once a month telling everybody how hard you're working.

While I agree that the current head is not the best, is the answer to the problem putting back the same four who got us that great 10% over 5 year contract?
In other words put back the same guys we kicked out and replaced with Mike?
Let the national lodge take over until we can get someone that both knows what they are doing and not place thier own personal agenda before ours.
This entire BS "letter not sent" stuff, while bad, was used for political gain by those trying to get their old jobs back. Did a single one of them post here about this letter "before" it was due? I mean come on... they "claim" they were asking Mike about it before it was due but no word at the meetings, the blog or any place I could see.
Me thinks they kept quiet in order to use this as a way to kick Mike out (he still should be) and re-establish power and to me this makes them just as bad or worse.

The sad thing is that those who perpetrated this will be back at the helm and we will still be screwed. Officers, being people, do not vote in their best interest.

Um, Mikey was the f*cking president. He should not have needed anyone to tell him that he needed to send the letter. He should have known....you can't blame anything else but his own incompetence. He should have paid attention to details, known the obligations of his office as related to contract matters and not been off buying new furniture, or going to lunch.
He's got to take responsibility for his own incompetence. Plain and simple.

This entire episode is a huge mess. If anyone running for president will change the FOP pay structure to Patrlolmans pay for FOP President then we should vote for them. Good enough for Sgts, Lts, and Capts, they get the pay of their rank while serving as president of their union. I wouldn't begrudge them a car and little extra stipend for extra time working. Also an expense account only used Frugally and with oversight! My suggestion is vote out ALL incumbents and put new independent people in not a ticket of people. VOTE INDEPENDENTS!
I was on the negotiating committee last contract. Daley came out with 16% initially and when he found out we would not agree to days off without pay (furlough days that all city employees were taking off without pay) he pulled the offer almost immediately. Funny how this is spun into being fucked out of 6% in the last contract and a backroom deal. Remember this, integrity is never considered when slinging bullshit. So if it's said here enough and in the media it must be true, right. I mean the media would never break a story without vetting it first, right, wrong again. If it scores high enough on the controversial meter they go with it no matter how accurate. I got involved in the FOP as a watch rep and then a Unit rep because I wanted to know for myself what was real and what was bullshit. I can tell you this, our current president is like a tornado, he will blow through town for a total of 5 minutes, leaving behind a path of irreversible harm and destruction to the FOP, never to be seen or heard from again. Just ask those at the pension board. No integrity, no Honor and not a moral bone in this pathetic excuse for a human being. Does know how to play the media very well to get his bullshit out. Somehow I believe he will be the next press secretary for Rahm or Quinn. Mikey you fucked every member of the FOP and have set a new record for harm done to the organization and its members. You can rest assured that this record will belong to you forever cementing a place for you in FOP history. Has anyone seen FEMA or The Red Cross?? Has the governor declared this a disaster area yet??
The more I listen to all the closed minded twits the more I think there is somehting going on. Why would they remove Sheilds before an investigation has been initiated? Why not let the investigation finish, then take actin? Why didn't (doesn't) the State Lodge take over? I don't want to admit it, but what if shields had/has somehting?
