Another New Cutoff Score

The consensus seems to be that the passing score is 55. We only know for certain that everyone who took the test here are moving on to Part 2.

A couple of comments are making noise about different passing scores for different folks.  We're pretty sure they're trolls just having troll-fun, but just in case:
  • If you have a letter that shows you (or someone else) failing the test, and you have a copy of someone else's letter that shows them passing with a lower score, send us a picture/copy/.jpg of the letters and we'll make a post out of it.
Other than that, contact the union if there's a question - oh, wait, they're all busy trying to save their jobs, running for election, holding press conferences.

On a normal grading scale, 55 is Failure - 'F'. Common fucking knowledge! Passing?

What...The...Fuck??!!

What a Fucking joke this Dept is. Completely unfair to those who studied hard and did very well. Yes, we all knew that there was going to be a curve for the select few, but c'mon, seriously? Disgustingly embarrassing across-the-board.

its not 55 I got a 53 and passed... enough with the guessing guys, everyday somebody "knows" what it really is because they "know a guy" who failed or passed with a certain score. I dont know what the cutoff is but what I can tell you is that I got a 53 and I passed. I know people who got higher all the way up into the 80s and nobody I know who got less than me.... Im sure others out there have heard something of people bombing it.

Anyone else feel cheated by taking the CPDTESTPREP class?? Seriously, this class is so unorganized and poorly run. The study material is a joke. So far, most questions in the study guide for Part 2 mirror Part 1 test questions and are not very scenario based. Why the hell do I need to know that motorized patrol is the most economical type of patrol? Some answers are omitted and even the instructor doesn't know the proper answer. Seems as if the material was just thrown together and a bunch of b.s. was tossed in as filler. This is a warning to all future test takers, save your money and seek assistance from a different study group and stay far away from this b.s. plus you won't waste 3 hrs each week learning garbage. End of my rant, I'm pissed.

Off Topic: “Can the City get to our Deferred Comp if they go bankrupt” was mentioned in an earlier thread. A concerned copper had posted a link to an interesting Los Angeles Times article from 1995 explaining how Orange County employees were shocked to realize that “Deferred Comp” was considered part of Orange County assets in the bankruptcy in 1995. Here is that link:

http://articles.latimes.com/1995-02-17/news/mn-33138_1_orange-county

So that started an Internet search by me, a copper with no financial training whatsoever, because frankly if you took away my deferred comp and my pension I would be living in “a van down by the river”.

Anyway my Internet research showed that after the 1995 Orange County incident contributions to Deferred Comp plummeted, so they changed the law in 1996.

The deferred comp 457 plans are now held in trust for the beneficiary and are not subject to bankruptcy garnishment.

Here is another helpful Los Angeles Times article from 1996 addressing the change:

http://articles.latimes.com/1996-10-02/business/fi-51307_1_retirement-plan

Also the Multnomah County in Oregon website (the former home of the world’s greatest Sheriff John Bunnell) had an easy to understand breakdown of who has access to your 457 Deferred Comp money.

“Is the money in my deferred compensation account mine, or is it the County's?
Technically, the money in all deferred compensation accounts is owned by the County, because it is recognized as wages that have not yet been paid. However, federal law requires that deferred compensation accounts be held in trust, for the exclusive benefit of participants or their beneficiaries. All deferred compensation accounts are governed by trust agreements that the County has included in our contracts with the investment providers. The monies are not available to the County's general creditors.

Some participants may remember that Orange County, CA declared bankruptcy in 1994 and that deferred compensation accounts were treated as assets of Orange County, and subject to the claims of general creditors. The trust requirements described in the preceding paragraph were implemented after the events in Orange County, to protect deferred compensation participants in other entities from such claims. Again, all deferred compensation accounts, while technically owned by the County, are held in trust for the exclusive benefit of participants or their beneficiaries.”
Here is the link to that website:

http://web.multco.us/finance/deferred-compensation-frequently-asked-questions#faq8

I hope all young coppers on this job are maxing out deferred comp. God Bless

You guys really have no concept of what has come before you. In a nutshell:
Starting in 1973 the federal judiciary began dividing the world into three parts: male whites, male blacks, and Hispanic surnamed. This was the result of a number of law suits claiming that the promotional tests had an adverse impact on the last two of the three because they weren’t promoted in the same proportion as the first part. The result was affirmative action (read quota). Women were later added to the aggrieved parts. A certain percent of the spots are reserved for blacks (oops, African-Americans), Hispanic surnamed, and women. The rest go to male whites. It has been that way for forty years.

I go to their test prep classes every Saturday. They are a complete joke. Here is a list of their fuckups: 1. For part one, they didn't have a lot of people's printed materials. Some did not get emails in time and missed week one. 2. Any hard question asked was referred to "we will find out for you" and they never get back at you. 3. The weekly test questions they asked were too easy and were created by a six year old. 4. For part two, in week one, they wasted our time. They gave us a pep talk and Brad Woods expressed disappointment about how the test was unfair and he couldn't do anything about it. Are you fucking kidding me? Seriously? It is your job to teach us what is on the test, not to complain about how unfair life is. The asshole even talked about whether to start Jay Cutler or the other backup quarterback for the Bears game. Are you fucking kidding me? 5. About forty students were dropped off from their email list. They claim that we must have logged out and so it is our fault. Ok, forty students get dropped and it is our fault? Why can't CPDTESTPREP take responsibility for anything? 6. For week two of part two they changed venues and didn't tell anyone. They didn't even post anyone outside to tell people. Rather, some stranger who was administering another an ACT test notified people where to go. Neil you have a son, a wife and a bunch of people working for CPD TEST PREP and you couldn't post anyone outside? 7. In week two, Brad Woods came unprepared and couldn't answer questions from the students. His reply was "I will look it up". What that means is he will not look up anything and you are out of fucking luck. 8. Brad Woods forgot to bring his general orders and special orders. 9. The part A scenario based questions were too easy (about 75% were kindergarten easy). It seems like they just wrote whatever came to their mind and did not put much thought into it. 10. They are not going to teach us how to correctly fill out reports and what to do and how to look for common mistakes.

I too feel cheated by CPDTESTPREP. Next time, this company will change their name and put up some other head instructor. Next time, don't pay a dime to this company. I should have listened to my instinct initially when I dealt with this company. When they had their presentation at Whitney Young High School, they gave the address. But they didn't tell us specifically where to go. A bunch of us looked and looked. No one from the company put up signs (signs would be good assholes!) or was outside to greet and tell us where to specifically go. Right then, it raised a red flag. But I ignored it. Stay away from this company in the future my fellow officers.

To the unpublished asshole:

If you can find one single post in favor of us supporting Shields for president, we'd certainly like to see it. We'll give you a quick hint - you won't find it because we didn't write it.

But you can go click on the "FOP" tag at the bottom of one of the recent posts and scroll through anyway. You might educate yourself.

We happily admit to the part of your insult calling us "right wing." What took you so long to discover that? We've only had the "Links for Right Thinking People" up on the right sidebar since May of 2005 when we started this thing.

The "tea party" label though - we support many of their positions - smaller government, lower taxes, more personal responsibility, but that comes from our Libertarian streak which pre-dates the Tea Party. There is nothing wrong with some of the Tea Party positions that track with our leanings and we don't understand why you think that would insult us, supporting the limited Constitutional government embraced by the founding fathers. But again, you won't find any post written by us as blanket support for Tea Party positions.

You're obviously a special child, probably socially promoted by age rather than actual accomplishment or effort, riding to school on the short bus. Mom has some of that special macaroni and cheese upstairs in the kitchen waiting for you. Don't forget to turn out the lights and clear out that browser history so Mom doesn't ask any more embarrassing questions.

Here's how U pass. U don't have to study, read GOs and Special Os. U probably have a better chance eating spaghetti Os then U do busting a nut on the test.
There's what's called CPD Royalty. U hook up w/them and Royalty will see to it that U'r made.
We had a "Guest W/C" who was merited to Sgt. He took & scored in the 500s. So think, what if U were 34 out & a fat man(lazy too)gets made HUNDREDS behind U.
He went to a district that's so hard to get in2 & was told that he was being transfered to a Unit. A Unit 90% of us won't see.
There's Families that basically run certain units. All their Family/friends hang there on these jelly jobs. They also play a game where they write an act of passing gas into an honorable or higher.
Paper jumping is anothe, "Hey, can U throw me on that paper bro?" U weren't getting the "atta boy or DC" unless U include The Coaches Kid.
When it reads out it reads "Highly Decorated" but the only thing that's high R the people that knew they couldn't make it I'm the real world so they knew they were going 2B taken care of while they had their had swirling around their pocket in 8th grade.
We All know this 2B true except the ones who were handed their high ranking career & subsequent high salary. I just wonder what it's like to look urself in the mirror everyday & know U'r a fraud, liar, and thru U'r Napoleonic Complex fraudulently believe Ur own hype.
