That wasn't a sniper shot. Watch the SWAT team in the reflection and you can see the puff of smoke from the rifle. Not Monday morning quarterbacking, but I always watch these to learn from them. You can see how even trained SWAT members get caught up in the moment. It takes about 15 seconds before they realize they are bunched up in front of a glass window with a uncleared area on the other side. Fight through the objective.

Sad to say that the Chicago Clout Poison has now been injected in all units in this Department including SWAT. You pass all the required shooting, physical courses then that's when the PHONECALL is needed. It's a joke. Many officers leaving SWAT cause unpredictable hours, and your not treated as an "adult". Sounds like patrol. They stopped using them in warrants to for whatever reason. Canine would be a better option for all you young bucks. Marine unit -not a chance in hell. Pick one and study or train ur ass off and good luck. I've been around the block and know quite a few people and I'm out in 3 years. Texas here I come!

Let me tell all and any of you net sayers out there in Chicago Police land, our CPD SWAT teams are among the best in the country, they have competed around the country against many other big city SWAT teams and have done great, I was a member of the old HBT teams and we were good, considering the equipment we had back then, but with today'[s technology and weapons our teams are top notch. These guys train a great deal, and I have heard people say you have to know somebody to make it to SWAT, but everyone has to meet State Standards to make the team and to stay there. And this is the truth, just ask around.
Our SWAT team snipers are first class. They recently got upgraded sniper rifles as well.
As a team compared around nation our Swat team has one of the toughest pistol courses and historically at competitions had some of the top handgun shooters in the nation. That is slowly changing.
However our tactics and training blow. Compared to high speed teams in the south and few other major departments our room clearing standards and tactical deployments are old school. Mostly due to the management at the top. Chicago is also very unique because of the urban standards. Not much high speed tactics involved going into these shitholes. The LT is. Stroke as are most of the Sgts. All bullheaded and refuse to update and adapt.
There is a reason our swat team is the smallest of any major city in America. We have less than 40 members. It's because the guys were run out by the boss and because there is no emphasis on it from the department. When u have exempt people in charge of a unit that requires such a specialty this is what you get. Right now there are more useless douches strapped with molle gear everywhere who have no business at all being on swat in the first place on the team because they need the bodies than ever. Hopefully that changes once new test comes out.

CPD SWAT has been neglected from the beginning. No take home cars, terrible equipment. Sgts that suck!!! Lt MM, Georgas and Guiliford are terrible leaders and do not care about the SWAT team. CPD historically never cared about having a SWAT team. Even after 911 CPD still doesn't care. Just like every part of CPD half ass jobs. Other cities support their SWAT teams. Not ours. They could care less. Then again what do you expect from CPD
6:38 am is correct. I was there. Saw the whole thing. Asshole killed 2 or 3 in a law office and had a 75 year old office manager held hostage with a pistol to his head. Next thing you know, pop, and this guy took one in the temple. It was awesome. Like the best movie I ever saw. Our SWAT team is hugely capable.

Our team sucks. Compared to other teams we really suck. No support from the top. We just have been lucky. I am leaving the team cause I am embarrased to be a part of it. The Lt thinks he knows what he's doing but he doesn't have a clue. Other teams have real leaders not like the Sgts who suck up to the exempts. Don't even bother to try out it's not worth it.

In the tradition of the CPD the responding units, whether its the beat car,tact unit, or other responding units they go through the door right away and there is no prolonged negotiation, no call to SWAT because someone has a gun. It is taken care of by thjer first responders.
Other cities when the beat car arrives, the witness says he might have a gun and SWAT is called, not here.
Compare cpd swat to lapd swat or nypd esu. We're a joke.

100 percent the truth, first responders usually take care of business before the situation gets out of control. We definitely need a SWAT team, but we do not use them very much because the first cars on the scene usually handle the situation. Our SWAT team handled that hostage situation in the 500 w Madison building to perfection, when the time is needed our SWAT is as good as any other city in the country.
Our first responders are as good as any other department in the counrty. We are a national joke because of our mayor and our over promoted connected bosses. Politics is what puts this department in the drain.

I love this typical line by Chicago cops,First of, I AM a Chicago cop and most of us shoot once a year and complain about it, so shut up already with these lines..most of us couldn't hit that at 20 feet. Ive always shot once a month at least. Our hit ratios suck for a reason...get to the range more guys and gals. I cant tell you how many times ive been qualify and there is almost ALWAYS someone, usually women and even former military who cant qualify, including with the rifle, wtf?? its downright embarrassing and unsafe.

Our department does not give a fuck about Swat, us or safety in this city post 9/11..It is a JOKE!!! if the citizens only really knew... we have nothing here, no real units, or training/equipment/proper gear/tools. look at anything on cable or Netflix regarding nypd or lapd and their swat or anti-terror capabilities, ours are a joke,,this city/mayor/polticians simply do not care about funding that, we are so unprepared, you have no idea Chicago citizens, its scary and grossly negligent...

Horrible. Our team sucks compared to other swat teams in the country. Things could get better if the team received the proper support from the chain of command but they don't. No take home cars is a huge issue. 90 percent of the swat teams across the U.S. have take home SUVs with all their equipment. CPD swat has to drive their personal cars. So if something happens it's going to be awhile before SWAT gets there. It's more important for people in bulllshit units to have take home cars. Chicago HBT/SWAT has always been a joke across the country. Things will never change. It's a joke.

Who does the SWAT training plans? A friend of Ray Hamilton's that cant run,do push ups or pull ups. A clouted guy that just cuts and pastes other SWAT teams manuals into our own. Again One Way Ray's bad impact on CPD

I met that officer whos father was killed, he had nothing but good to say about our swat team, however, I concur, the powers to be do not give a fuck about, training,equiptment,funding, etc, the public really doesn't have ANY idea how screwed up and unprepared things are here in the 3rd biggest city in America, it is downright scary. The media does a great job at hiding the truth. that's the only thing theyre good at.
