Is This Safe?
That's the door to the lockup/processing area of the 012 District, which we think is the newest police station in the Department right now. Our e-mailer tells us that it has been propped open in this manner for at least a week, maybe longer.
Unfortunately, that is by no means a record - 003 had a broken door in their lockup for months, possibly a year or more, that allowed direct access to freedom for any bold and fast enough to risk it.
Hey Garry? Tell Rahm you could use a few bucks for repairs one of these days. Or someone who does warranty work - the station might still be under one.

The door has been fixed as of today.
So why don't the coppers in 012 just close the damn thing? It might not be broken at all.
this is a city wide lock up weekly thing!cars ,suv, and wagons are a mess 2!
Hey that looks like 10. Either when the door was broken or people dont have key cards
Those blue garbage cans are the best doorstop.
Maybe some cop is good with tools, sort of a fixit guy? That's one way to get it fixed. Probably the cheapest. After all, how complicated is a door handle and lock?
They do it all the time in 019 too.
Why not? What do you think a third world lockup should look like? Did you think any other socialist run city in the world would look any different? Our jails are no different that any other third world shithole jails. Socialism is a great thing.
I hate the new stations anyway. What a pain in the ass to process in these fucking places.
How about spending the money on a decent, non-connected builder?!!!!!?!!!!!!!!!!
It may not be broken, it's just more convenient to prop it open than to go through proper procedure.
Or visiting coppers forget to return the damn security cards to the WC's office.
dude, station security sucks at lots of the stations. I've been bitching about parking lot, locker room, station security for years. nothing is done about it. fucking shame.
When we first moved into 009 on Halsted a few years back that was a common sight there too. In fact the Sally port and lockup doors there have been broken for a good two years and nobody seems to care.
Priorities, priorities.... Rahm n McFailures priorities are all out of whack.
Garry and 9.5 don't care. Hell look at our FOP, we don't care either.
just what you'd expect to see since the mayor turned the districts into flophouses ain't it.

they should get those cards that you hang on the doorknob that say 'maid service requested'. that way when aunt bee brings over the apple pie she can tidy things up.

crime is down so its ok leave it open .
maybe place a red light camera outside of it .
rahm does not care he was in south america maybe with the money he spent he could have someone replace the door .
They spent too much money on the Safe Passage signs. FUGGEDABOUTIT.
Lock up doors in 009 broke for years
This department is a joke, we are 14 years into the 21st century and our equipment is 25 years past its prime. We as officers are doing so much more with so much less, you would think our union would be all over this. Cars with well over 100,000 miles, no door panels, no spot lights, half a steering wheel, broken seats, junk computers and the list goes on and on.
in 009 we had a car battery proping door to processing area from the carport for several months. I think the battery is gone and the door simply doesnt work anymore.
tell commissioner david reynolds to have one of his building engineers "guys with alot of keys attached to to side" to call a carpenter and get it fixed.
Rahm's Blue Cart program. That trash can probably cost more than the door & the lock.
Off topic, but important:
Did anyone else notice both state and federal taxes went up on your check when compared to last year? Pretty substantially too.
Doing more with less.
Disgusting.
Why there at it how about some heat at the front desk. The lock up which isn't open is warmer then the front desk
And not a peep from FOP. Why? Cause McScotch, Rham and Shields share the same interests. We are being taken for fools by a bunch of punks. Let's send in some pics of the squad cars out there. How about it SCC? Separate thread for all the squad cars that we drive around looking like a third world country police department.
Old news. At least 5 years ago, 018 had the same problem for weeks before it was fixed. Don't know if it re-occurred or not, was lucky enough to retire.
Looks like a simple and cheap field expediency that works.
Preckwinkle will be very happy to see this. It gives offenders the chance to leave even before arriving at 26th/Cal.
Thank you SCC for obviously embarrassing the powers that be, into fixing this threat to prisoner/station security. Within hours of this posting, the door in question was magically repaired. By the way, Exempt staff never reads this blog. NOT!
025 has been out of paper towels for a few weeks. We've been told to use the hand dryers, which only blow cold air. Gotta love how everything works.
Check out the door to the 20 th district parking garage, it's been gone for over 3 months Out for repairs?
Just add this one to the list- broken toilets, broken computers, broken fax machines, broken printers, broken down cars, the list goes on and on. Hell, the power went out in our station a few weeks back - I'm talking total blackout for half an hour, while the street lights and buildings around us still had power! People who came in looking for reports had to be directed elsewhere. And this is what they call a world class city? Ha! Try third world- bet they can keep the electric going in their stations in Zimbabwe! But I'll bet that nothing is EVER in need of repair or replacement in Rahm's office! I'm sure he does not have to prop his office door open because it is broken, or call tech support (which is basically no support) for a broken computer which sits for months waiting for a repair/replacement. The next time a citizen complains and asks what his taxes are paying for, give him/her this list of items: $50 million for Maggie Daley park, $90 million for bike lanes, $25 million for DePaul stadium, 12% pay raises for Rahm's administrative staff, and $90 million for officers to work their days off so the reverends can have more police babysit their ghetto constituents, and a 24/7 police security detail for the former crook mayor and his ilk because he is entitled to lifetime police protection, even though he, like our current crook mayor, is a MILLIONAIRE who can afford to pay a private security firm out of his own pocket (which is lined with stolen taxpayer money anyway). I'm sure there are more examples, but these are just a few to start with because they sure in hell don't spend money on their first responders!
Juvenile to air such dirty laundry on a public blog. We are our own worst enemy.
"Dirty laundry?" Are you fucking stupid?
First of all, it's a lockup door. There is no reason in hell that this shouldn't be fully functional 24/7/365. It's meant to keep bad people locked up you idiot.
Second, it's paid for by taxpayers. Now granted 99.9999% of taxpayers will never ever see this door, but just because it's out of sight doesn't mean that taxpayers didn't get ripped off and someone ought to be held accountable for the poor quality, poor product, poor installation, poor maintenance of the taxpayers dollars you ass.
Third, IT'S AN OFFICER SAFETY ISSUE YOU TWIT!
Finally, SCC has proven numerous times that the minute a picture like this hits the blog, Amato or whoever is in charge of General Services sends someone out WITHIN HOURS to fix the problem that has lingered for weeks, months or years.
"Dirty laundry." Child, you have no idea what dirty laundry is and obviously have no idea what dirty laundry means.
don't lock anyone up and you won't have to worry about it--- spend your tour reading the paper, having a good cup of coffee, and arguing with your partner over where you are going to dinner...
How bout the department get with the 21st century and have an id card, with pin number that can open most doors and records who and what time a door was opened , not rocket science !I forgot the budget doesn't include things that make sense !
So why don't the coppers in 012 just close the damn thing? It might not be broken at all.
1/03/2014 12:06:00 AM
I hope you are not the police because you are an idiot and you think the police are idiots.

Thank you for the spontaneous, audible and hearty chuckle!
Focus a speed camera on it and see how fast or slow it gets fixed!
Those blue cans are for recycled paper, the city won an award for their use, even though they are also the only option for garbage and always thrown in the trash dumpster and not recycled.
Juvenile to air such dirty laundry on a public blog. We are our own worst enemy.
Maybe that is the only the City will take notice and fix what is broken.
P.S. Badguys don't look at the picture, no really it's really just a joke. Better?
Our only choice is to air our grievances on a public blog. The powers that be know, and don't care. I don't know if civillians are in charge of what should be in a new building, but nothing is efficient. You always have to talk to the watch commander 2 or 3 x but you can't get to him/her, and you need a keycard for everyhting. Andwhat if the power is out? You are stuck.
It's broken. Click the picture, then read the sign.
019 allows janitor in lockup with prisoners in it while Officers are in and out of the area!
These Lock Ups have an Open Door Policy.
The only place in the Department where you can find such a thing.
No paper towels in the bathrooms in 025 for at least a week now. Member of the cleaning crew told me city isn't buying anymore paper towels and we are to use the old hand dryers that barely work.

Security is much better at your average neighborhood currency exchange. On the west side or south side the liquor stores and rib shacks are more secure.
I went to a suburban police station and had to wait outside armored doors for an officer to escort me into the business side of the building. Public only sees hardened steel and thick bullet resistant glass.
Chicago police stations can be taken over in no time at all. Desk crew with no steel plate, no body armor and snub nose revolvers? Come on. Security is a joke in Chicago. If something goes to hell they will find a low level employee to blame, like the Loop flood.
(OT) looks like southwest airline employees at midway airport have had enough! Passengers stranded on runways due to poor management much like CPD! My sister works for the southwest slave drivers making them work up extra 12 hours the employees look like working dead, while Southwest Airlines does more with less, the CEO and others are raking in the cash while southwest neglects to hire now the passengers are stuck on Tarmac for hours!
It has been since October that the E.R.P.S. after hours buzzer has been out of service! They have to walk down to open the door and it is not fun when you have to wait and its -2 outside. If it was 3510 S Michigan Ave the thing would have been fixed in one week! Hey spend some of the private business NATO money an fix the facilities!!!
http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking/chi-storm-leaves-several-flights-stranded-for-hours-on-midway-tarmac-20140103,0,4255599.story
Rahms sunning himself out of the country while Southwest Airlines employees are showing the airline they are burnt out! Hope the employees there get a real union and they do a job action corporate America wonder what politicians the CEO pays off?
The real concern is the court at 555 W. Harrison. The sheriffs make you surrender your weapon and then make you walk in an unsecured area.

Every penny this department can get its hands on should go toward VRI. Nothing else should get one penny.
VRI is the only thing that can save this city.
You know we are not fully staffed. So where is all the extra money in the budget going? I amazes me how the department doesn't spend money on the necessities like routine maintenance and equipment. Penny wise dollar foolish.
This whole bullshit problem started when civilians were hired in the lockups and sworn officers removed to the streets.
This is so the homeless don't have to get arrested to get warm. They just let themselves in like Otus the town drunk.
Still no homicides this year? WTF. Come on 19.
It's called entropy. Basic things like locks that used to work well will continue to decline.
We gave up the Stars - The Space Program - for the inmates.
Now cheer up, help is coming.
May I suggest staying out of Help's Way.

http://www.chicagorealestatedaily.com/article/20140103/CRED03/140109976/allison-davis-faces-steep-loss-related-to-controversial-real-estate
"Developer Allison Davis could receive as little as $150,000 in connection with his firm's dismissal as manager of a real estate investment fund backed by local municipal pension systems, according to recent rulings, a small fraction of the more than $2.5 million buyout he had been seeking.
Mr. Davis has been fighting a decision in early 2012 by five local pension systems to fire his company, DV Realty Advisors LLC, as general partner of the fund. Robert Vanecko, the nephew of former Mayor Richard Daley, also was a general partner before he resigned in 2009 amid allegations that the two men used political connections to raise money for the fund.
The five pension systems, including the Public School Teachers' Pension and Retirement Fund of Chicago, invested a combined total of $66.5 million in the fund, whose assets had plunged to a value of about $6 million in December 2012. The fund's holdings include a stalled development site at 3012-3036 N. Broadway Ave. in Lakeview and investments in five other Chicago properties.
In August, the Delaware Supreme Court rejected an appeal by Mr. Davis that would have reinstated his firm as general partner of the fund. Three months later, a Delaware trial judge sharply limited how much DV Realty can claim as a payout related to the dismissal.
Last year, he feuded with a partner on a South Side redevelopment project and lost an Illinois Appellate Court case over a defaulted $18 million loan on a South Loop condominium tower.
The pension systems — the Policeman's Annuity and Benefit Fund of Chicago, the Municipal Employees' Annuity and Benefit Fund of Chicago, the Laborers' and Retirement Board Employees' Annuity and Benefit Fund of Chicago, the Retirement Plan for the Chicago Transit Authority and the teachers fund — fired DV Realty for poor financial performance and for failing to deliver audited financial statements for the years 2008-2010
"At the time of the dismissal, the value of the fund's assets had fallen 28.5 percent. DV Realty has said in court filings it delayed turning over audited statements in 2009 to resolve debt maturity issues."

Rahm is in Indonesia, not South America. He is still there, 'winding down' his vacation, according to City Hall today.
But it is true that Rahm doesn't care about us.
I bet that the doors on the 5th floor @ city hall & 35th michigan work well.

Sure, will do. Then we can clean the johns and sweep the floors. No skill needed there either. There are more than a few Firemen that are HVAC guys, let's borrow them and have them fix the A/C and heat in all the new building too.
Bottom line is the City continues to pay for buildings that are poorly slapped together by connected businesses that go unchallenged on it. If I had a house built by these monkeys and they fell apart like these stations, I would (rightfully) have the builder in court. We have stations that have dangerous problems and the taxpayers are footing the bill to fix them. More money for the connected. It is criminal plain and simple.
Public Building Comission still hasn't paid us a dime from this job! The job was completed well over a year ago and PBC just decided to stop issuing payments to the GC!

O.T. I received an email regarding Nationwide Deferred Comp. It seams that they somehow lost the beneficiary information for the accounts and never bothered to inform the particapants of this problem. If you have deferred comp. you should log into your account and check the beneficiary section. I did and sure enough mine showed no beneficiary listed. I told several other people who all checked and found the same results. You have to print out a form from the website and re-submit it to Nationwide to correct this.

This bears repeating. Are you all reading this ? How is it possible that these people arent investigated and tried under RICO act ? These are just the tip of the Vanecko/Daley/Madigan iceberg. These same pieces of shit screwed the College Illinois fund if I am not mistaken. Dirty rat bastards should be strung up in an alley.
Come over to 012 lot in the summertime and see the 5 feet tall weeds....actually saw a tumbleweed a couple months ago before they pulled the weeds.
Don't be a pussy! Most of the Deputies have to bench their weapon before they start work. Only Daley center everybody is armed and at 26th, every copper has their weapons on them the whole time. I work at 26st and dozens of times coppers have to stand next to inmates while they schedule trial dates. The coppers have shitty worn out pancake holsters or guns tucked into their waist bands. How safe is that to everyone else. A huge ass inmate can disarm you and shoot everyone in that room. If your the police,, you should be able to get down with your hands just as well as being armed with a weapon. Everyone has stupid rules to follow. I don't go into your station house and do what I feel like. 7 years of working some of the worse shittiest places in the jail, I don't new my weapon to send someone to the hospital. I have lots of love and respect for CPD. Toughest job in one of the toughest cities in America. Lots of my friends, former county co workers and family are CPD. But just like every department including mine, lots of "scary ass people" who should not be on the job.
RE: 55 W Harrison, is it possible to secure your weapon in the ASA' s office in a gun safe like they do in Skokie?

Maybe your duty weapon but afeter that is on you.
In Area Central Detective Division, the heat has been unbearable for weeks. 90+ degrees on the floor. After many, many, many phone calls, the solution was to put portable air-conditioners on the floor. It's January, -5 degrees outside, 90 degrees in our office and we have air-conditioners running 24/7 to bring the heat down to a tolerable 80 degrees. Yep! We are a world class city (3rd World).

Remember...Management has things just the way they want them. If they didn't want them this way, they would change things.
Our 20 boxes of paper order with office depot/max was cancelled by the department? Why? they DIDN'T PAY their bill so we couldn't order more. So, instead of getting paper delivered to the door, we have to send a wagon to equip and supply to get 5 boxes.

The last time he saw the streets they were cobblestones. Easy with the hero worship. All men have great moments and all men are flawed.

Maybe some cop is good with tools, sort of a fixit guy? That's one way to get it fixed. Probably the cheapest. After all, how complicated is a door handle and lock?
I really hope you're not a cop. Ok moron, no problem, we'll fix it right up. Oh yeah, did you mention which tools to grab to fix the connection to the key-card pad? Which is the only way to access the lock-up? These doors are way more complicated that a handle and lock. Get it straight before making stupid comments on topics you obviously know nothing about.

Most times it is the mechanical mechanisms that get gummed up and have to be cleaned. It has to do more with being maintained nothing to do with the electronic workings. Some WD40, a rag, an old toothbrush and a screwdriver.
With some patience you clean it up and tighten it up around the springs, bolts so the actuators can function and everything gets better. So who's the moron.
P.S. If you have not done it already for this winter, shoot some WD40 into all your automobile locks. Never use oil in a lock as it will trap and cake dirt.
009 still has TWO car batteries holding doors to sallyport and to processing open. Not to mention it has a holding cell thats been taped up for months because of BED BUGS. Everyday the lockup crew has to use that lockup knowing BED BUGS are crawling around in the holding cell feet away from where they sit. Not to mention one cell wont even lock anymore. But oh well since the detention aide that works there is so lazy he brought his own chair from home.good job.

OT: Regarding our pensions
From Crain's today: Here's the link for the whole article:
http://www.chicagorealestatedaily.com/article/20140103/CRED03/140109976/allison-davis-faces-steep-loss-related-to-controversial-real-estate

Easy Ron, no need to get your knickers in a twist. Just fix the damn door.
FYI - Our ceo of Alpha Girls and the WTA is vactioning with the mayor in Asia. She invited the mayor to spend the weekend with her to discuss her views in putting the CPD back when she was an advisor to the former mayor and Supy.
It looks like KB will be back after Rahm was so very impressed what our CEO had to say. Look for her to be giving marching orders to Mc Carthy by Jan 15.
The rumor that Shields is trying to get a membership in the WT IS false.

No hand towels in 025? I wouldn't know because I can't step 1 foot into the bathroom without gagging because the toilets don't flush. The locker room stunk for weeks. I thought we had it bad until I went into 011. Holy cow! An even BIGGER dump! For two busy districts I would assume more attention would be focused on the working environments of the coppers. Yeah right!!
How about the safety complaint filed in 2011 and 2012 at the Education and Training Academy for moldy carpeting? State told them carpet had to go by first quarter of 2012 and it is still there. So another safety complaint filed. FOP, STATE, ADS why isn't anyone following the Department of Labor order?
I forgot my key card.

Somebody's never been to a third world before. They'd love our jails and probably choose to stay for awhile, you know not a vacation..
You're a moron. Complete moron and you are what's wrong with this dept. Millions were spent on these buildings. We work in these building. They lack any type of security and are a prime target for attack. Go to the suburbs and look at how they are fortified. 11th Dist is dangerous in the lobby. Then again you probably work in 24 and feed you're bums.
Is Bonnie Amato still the director of Building Services? That would explain a lot of the broken door BS.

Another do nothing complaining about everything. Every captain is a merit pick you idiot. The XO was legit with promotion to sgt and LT. He has street experience, unlike some other captains. Why are officers assigned to 012 complain so much? Take the garbage can out and let the door shut. End of problem. Close the door! The desk can request repairs and leave a paper trail. Now Francis, go back to your hiding place and continue to watch redbox or what ever you do to avoid work.
Its Shitcago,what do you expect???
Was this scenario on the Sgts exam??

Is the Academy considered the "street"???? Because I seem to remember him assigned there before he got promoted.
I'll sit down and wait for my answer.
close 11 and assign all officers to 10 & 15 to cover both districts . it worked up north in 19 and 23 . one less commander , xo , 7 less lts, 30 less sgts , less inside officers , 30 aggressive tactical officers from 11 back in a beat car , it's a win win
There are dirty diapers in the walls in 003
You mean to tell me GORMAN couldn't get doors fixed. Heard he had the entire 11th Ward plus MAYOR MUMBLES at his last day of work. These bosses are not your friends. Back each other up on calls and go home to your family. PATROL RULES !!!

Who's the moron? Who's knows nothing about something that is anything?
In my career I have known cops who were master mechanics, registered nurses, licensed engineers of all kinds, electricians, computer, watch and sewing machine repairmen, alarm installers and CCTV installers. Not to mention PhDs, lawyers, military officers and anything they couldn't do outright they could probably fake it like Fernando Waldo DeMara in anything. (Go look that up).
Then there are people like you who probably couldn't get off an escalator if it stopped.
So a simple electrically activated locking device, no big deal.
As a Wise Old Boss once said: "One man with a set of tools and the skills to use them is worth more than a thousand bureaucrats."
I don't arrest anybody anymore anyway. :)

Tell you what, put your cell phone number here on the blog. I'll bet someone from every district will call you with some non paying side jobs. Problem is, if we keep fixing things, management believes there are no problems. Everyone bitches and moans when it's time for G&O, cause they (management) has no pool cars. WHO CARES! Down them all. Then, and only then, would that get someone's attention and MAYBE something would get done.
But no, you'll be the 1st one out there with your jumper cables instead of waiting for R service, buying a fuse from AutoZone or whatever, which is exactly what the department likes...good little soldiers that will do it all and pay for it out of their own pocket to keep the ship from sinking, while all the while the guy at the helm is sticking it up your ass, by not hiring, funding your pension, promoting you, paying you out of grade, or having you work with 3 PPO's at a time for the whopping extra .75hr/day.
Not to mention, the WBE/MBE contractor who has the F/4 that fixes the locks, with the M/1 boss would be quite unhappy with you fixing their stuff....cause all the engineer can do is "put in a work order"
There are dirty diapers in the walls in 003

It's the 3rd District are you really surprised. Maybe there for those who work in CAPS and the front office.
I would love, LOVE, LOVE it if the COMPSTAT model was brought to bear on the "Support" units within the police department. Say, like Building Maintenance, Fleet Management and IT. I sure would love to see the Supe skewer Bonnie Amato on how she runs her department. How she can come up with hundreds of thousands to "consolidate" the D unit for a bunch of dix that are then sent to districts but can't fix an air conditioner for ten years or figure out how to put weather-stripping around the base of a door. Likewise Mr. Lewin. Any explanation as to why our "paperless" department requires 7 pages to replace a 1 page arrest report? What about yearly computer updates/virus wipes, etc...? I'd like to see what would happen if they had to account for their manpower deployment and use of resources to accomplish their duties - all towards supporting the long-suffering Patrol Division. Can you imagine the head of MM swinging in the wind when asked why he can't maintain an inventory of parts for the three models in our fleet? Why the average repair job on a vehicle brought into grease & oil takes two weeks? How there are so few pool cars?
There are only TWO things required of management, as per our mandatory leadership at the academy: communicate to the troops what you want them to do and PROVIDE THEM THE TOOLS TO ACCOMPLISH THEIR TASKS.
Epic fail, management.

"...Tell you what, put your cell phone number here on the blog. I'll bet someone from every district will call you with some non paying side jobs. "
Well guess what! When I was working everyone on my watch DID HAVE MY CELL PHONE NUMBER and I still get calls every now and then asking for help or advice. It does an old man good.
"...But no, you'll be the 1st one out there with your jumper cables instead of waiting for R service,..."
I've done that more times than I can count, or with a Slim-Jim or any other tool I could pull out of the "Bag of Tricks". I wasn't about to leave any copper in a dead car in the middle of the ghetto. If their personal car broke down on one of them on the way to work we went out and got them and saw that they were safe. That is what you do for each other.
Stay Safe. I recently retired, and a lot of young and old cops shook my hand and thanked me saying, "Remember that time you came out..."

Easy, internet tough guy. The doors should work. I 100% agree. However it's a hair gel move to be posting pictures of problems on web blog. I'm willing to bet the beefer did nothing to try and have this problem corrected. Who is to say some lazy fuck who didn't want to get a swipe card propped the door open? This isn't Naperville. We are always going to have broken or outdated equipment in CPD. Strap on a sack and adapt.

I wasn't referring to an officer stranded in the ghetto or not being able to get home. I was referring to the car that was dead in the water when you jumped in it right out of the box. Like you, I have a set of cables in my car.
I guess my post came out wrong, which happens on the web, as I do have a heart for my fellow workers; for my employer, not so much. Happy retirement !

The best post in a long time. Thoroughly enjoyed reading it and wholeheartedly agree with you.
I was told by numerous cleaning people that the blue recycle bins are useless. Nothing is recycled, it's all trash and gets thrown out. What a scam. Maybe "DUI" Dave Savini can do an "exposé" report on this.

Seriously?
""Easy, internet tough guy. The doors should work. I 100% agree. However it's a hair gel move to be posting pictures of problems on web blog. I'm willing to bet the beefer did nothing to try and have this problem corrected""
I'm not this^ beefer, but I am a beefer.
We had a particular problem in our district--which (still) requires the intervention of the esteemed Ms. Amado. She was e-mailed regarding the problem because that is the only way she will deal with pee-ons in the districts. (that is a FACT- even her PO secretary suggests contacting her that way). E-mail was sent around April '13 -- problem has still not been resolved. So, yea, sometimes airing our concerns on the blog is the only way to get things done, and no, I don't have enough hair to be a hairgel.
And, on another note, who's job is it anyway to keep up with the physical plant? the lowly PO's? It used to be the District Secretary's job, now since that job has been eliminated, it seems keeping up with problems has been eliminated too. As someone who actually TRIES to give a shit, if you tell management something is wrong and MONTHS later nothing is done, what's the point of telling them? They either don't care or don't have the authority to get the problem fixed.
It wasn't propped open because someone forgot their key card. The lock malfunctioned and could only be opened from the outside. So if someone simply closed it, like so many people suggested, and there was no one inside the processing room to open it, you couldn't get in. Yes, leaving the door open was dangerous, but no more dangerous than the old tact office and side room that were used to process prisoners in the old 012. MG
