Another Concealed Carry Study
And another finding that restricting guns leads to HIGHER rates of violent crime. From the abstract:
- The purpose of the present study is to determine the effects of state-level assault weapons bans and concealed weapons laws on state-level murder rates. Using data for the period 1980 to 2009 and controlling for state and year fixed effects, the results of the present study suggest that states with restrictions on the carrying of concealed weapons had higher gun-related murder rates than other states. It was also found that assault weapons bans did not significantly affect murder rates at the state level. These results suggest that restrictive concealed weapons laws may cause an increase in gun-related murders at the state level. The results of this study are consistent with some prior research in this area, most notably Lott and Mustard (1997).
- One of the odd things about Progressives' Gun Panic is their apparent belief that normal, law-abiding citizens will just go Kill-Crazy if they have a gun.
This is absurd. It always has been absurd. It always will be absurd.
A generally lawful citizen will have a marginally higher rate of committing an act of gun violence (especially suicide) simply because of the ease of access to the weapon. Even law-abiding people will have a small increase in opportunistic gun violence, given ease of access.
But this small effect is small beans compared to the number of gun attacks by non-law-abiding people which are deterred or prevented by armed citizens.
I think the Gun Control folks actually have it mind to disarm the non-law-abiding people. But that's hard to do -- most criminals can't legally own a gun, and the law doesn't seem to stop them -- so they decide upon the easy goal of disarming law-abiding folks.
After all, law-abiding folks will abide by the law-- so disarming them is relatively easy, whereas disarming the six-time liquor store bandit and killer isn't so easy. That guy isn't giving up his guns, as his occupation depends on guns, but hey, maybe the average law-abiding citizen will give up his guns, if we threaten him with jail.
Watch for Rahm and Garry to come up with some bullshit to take credit for the sudden drop in armed robberies on the horizon.

If I was a gun hunting gang banger I would be breaking into cars parked around any place that bans concealed/carry. Chances are you are going to find more than a few guns.
I say the law should read, if a place bans firearms they should have an ample enough of free storage lockers in a secure location for visitors to use.
The elected officials are basically going to be supplying the gang bangers with guns due to these crazy gun bans.
Leaving crime aside, I have never understood the average rank and file liberal/progressives absolute terror and phobia about private gun ownership. To them, the mere fact that a regular person owns and even recreationally shoots a firearm means that person is suddenly going to turn into a kill-crazy mass murderer at the slightest provocation. Their attitude makes no sense at all.

I was in agreement in the past when I read about other places seeing drops in their crime rate as a result of people finally leveling the playing field and being given a fair, fighting chance to eliminate a threat with a concealed weapon...
But here? In the land of Dart/Preckwinkle/Quinn and the culture that promotes a mindset of radical, militant 'crime-almost-as-an-act-of-activism?'
Plan on seeing the pea-brained criminal element up the ante by shooting first, robbing second.
Gone will be the days of "stick'em up." When the bad guy wants to rob, he's not waiting to see if John Q. Goodcitizen is armed. He's gonna shoot him, and rifle through his pockets when he already shot him in the back first.
The media will do its job and hide that fact, like they already do with race and circumstance, like the knockout and wilding mess.
I wouldn't be surprised if that 70 year-old man was shot before he was robbed. They are going to be too scared to rob people face-to-face, but not scared enough to be deterred when our politicians and justice system keeps letting them go to rob another day.
My guess is some poor soccer mom will be the next Zimmerman, when she sees the beast coming and let's him have it before waiting to see if he was just gonna ask for change or stick a gun in her back.

Poll Taxes were outlawed after the Supreme Court ruled that the right could not be taxed.
We have a specific Constitutional and clear right to keep and carry firearms. For governmental agencies demanding payment in order to enjoy that right is nothing less than criminal extortion and racketeering.
We must enjoin these lawless politicians and their appointed bureaucrats from their criminal and punitive efforts to rob us of our rights with these extortion demands.

It's like a religion. They indoctrinate the children at an early age and they become believers. Guns are bad, guns are bad. Make the bad guns go away.
My wife has finished the CC classes. Total waste of time. Why? Because the class's curriculum didn't contain anything that she didn't already know-except Book/chapter/verse, and an instructor presenting things in a different manner.
Discussions post-CC classes finally got her being able to distinguish between ILCS and our use of force model.
As she put it. Options, she wants the option of being able to defend herself/family.
Her perspective on the issue of firearms, and deadly force have changed...not dramatically but have become that of a more responsible weapon owner/shooter/coppers wife.
So, if my wife can attend the first 8 hrs of a CC class and draw conclusions such as these. WHY, do the elected officials of Cook and the Collar counties think that CC permits holders are gonna run crazy shooting everyone?
