2014. A safe year for all CPD
Just shoveled for the third time and amazed how many people are out on the streets, celebrating tonight. Lots of cars sliding down the street, too much in a hurry to get to the next party or too drunk to realize how stupid they're driving.
Be careful, everybody - this is the beginning of a long weekend for lots of the partiers.
And, Happy New Year!!!

1. Is he the same guy who flunked the FTO test back in the late 90's
2. Is he an off the list Sgt or a Merit Sgt?

Happy New Year!!! The first week is a big week for Jim Ade and Sergeants - hip hip hooray!! Ade better not pull a Shields and forget to send a grievance or lawsuit.
My Commander indicated that EVERY Commander and Georgas/Gulliford was adamantly against the changes in district supervision. Who runs the Department? Every patrol division exempt member is against the change and the order still comes out. Listen to your field troops. Takes effect on 5 January 2014.
Hopefully in 2014 we will not see Ade on stage with the Mayor discussing a new agreement before sergeants know about it.

He should have remained as the president of our union until he was re-elected or voted out of office. The electorate spoke and would speak again. Essentially, they performed a coup d'état on the official we elected. Shame on them.

It's not just the ghetto. Many sidewalks on the north side have yet to be shoveled and it's 5:15 p.m. on January 1. So there are assholes everywhere.
It's going to take us a few years to unfuck our department and put it back in somewhat of a proud organization once this NY fool is gone. What an arrogant know- nothing fraud. Emanuel is a stroke we will have to contend with for another brief time, but this pretender of a cop we got playing our leader is an absolute joke. The day is coming when the decent exempts finally do revolt in a mutiny style take over. I'm sure some boot lickers won't, but there really are a few who know this fool and his antics won't sustain. Maybe it's just hope for the new year?

I work the westside, meaning I am smart enough to know that everyone and their mother is shooting of their weapons at that hour. I am smart enough to know that walking around and then calling for more officers to walk around with my dumbass looking for a misdemeanor gun arrest is not the smartest thing to do. But then again, I care about my own safety and that of my coworkers. You may now continue with your comments about "maybe you shouldn't be the police" or "you are a dog" etc.
Had a watch commander who would order us to be under a viaduct by 1145pm so we wouldn't come in with a car full of bullet holes. The stroke of midnight sounded like the Tet Offensive all over again.

One of two things are true, either Mike Shields lost his marbles and the others had to move fast to get a looney tunes out of the top spot or his allegations struck such fear in the hearts of certain people involved up to their eyeballs that they likewise made swift moves.
Either way, Mark Donahue, Kevin Graham and Ted Street orchestrated this take-over. Maybe more.
If allegations were true, then there was involvement by powers way above Mark Donahue or Ted Street. Think Daley and his minions. That move to oust Shields happened really fast, overnight.

Mike Shields started the coup d'état with his first day in office and has since removed 5 employees who did not agree with his dictatorial style. Do unto others as you would have others do unto you.
