The first-ever terrorism prosecution by Cook County authorities began Tuesday with jurors hearing dramatically different views of the evidence against three out-of-state men charged with plotting terrorist attacks during the 2012 NATO summit in Chicago.
Their attorneys told jurors their clients were just loud-mouthed young men, often drunk, who were goaded on by undercover police officers desperate to make an arrest to help their superiors justify the enormous security costs that came with hosting the summit.
The attorneys referred to the 1968 Democratic Convention crackdown and the Haymarket Riot as they told jurors the city had once again overreached, charging three would-be vandals from Florida as if they were committed al-Qaeda terrorists.
Nice comparison assholes - during the Haymarket riot, 7 cops lost their lives.

Anyone notice that Larry Yellen on Fox identified the undercover P.O. by name on last night's 9:00 o'clock news.
First time I've ever heard that done. Wonder what his reasoning for that is? Seems to me that it absolutely compromises her safety. Surprised no one else is upset or any complaints are being made by FOP.

Who said they were "Islamic"? Besides, even if they were, that doesn't mean they don't drink, eat pork, have sex before marriage, etc. You need to get out a little more and quit being so fucking naive.
During / becsuse of the Haymarket riot 8 officers died Almost 60 officers had serious wounds. Some of the officers never returned to work. FYI seven of the eight who died were immigrants! 5 of the officers who died did so from bomb shrapnel. The others died from bullet wounds.
One officer lingered 2 years before he succumbed to his wounds.
I don't like yuppies and I really don't like yuppy/hippy attorneys. Especially ones who attempt to slander the good names of U.C. Officers in that case. How these accusations are allowed in court with no real factual basis is beyond me. It's really desperation defense at its finest. If they were black, then the UC's would be painted as clan members. Typical cook county court room drama.
If Obama had sons, they would have dreads like offender #3.
Come on Alvarez, go after these guys with the same zeal you would off-duty coppers with DUI charges. Do your job and make these clowns an example of what will happen when you attempt a heinous act like they did. It was only diligent officers and divine intervention that saved anyone from death and severe injury this time; next time may not be in our favor. Just because nobody was hurt or killed doesn't diminish the seriousness of what they were planning to do. Imagine if they were planning to throw one of these molotov cocktails at you and your prosecutors- pretend it's your ass in the burn unit painfully clinging to life after being hit with one of these things.

You my friend did not see Traitor starring Don Cheadle. Yeah, I know it was a movie but it brought up an interesting concept that I am sure is not far from the truth. Cheadle was a double agent of sorts and trying to bring down a terrorist organization by infiltrating it. When he was introduced to one of the leaders they coerced him to drink and he did not want to citing the Koran. They basically told him he had to break some dietary rules of the Koran to hide his religious convictions and throw off his role in terrorism. And they basically told him it was in Allah's will because of why he was doing it (to wage jihad)...paraphrased of course. If you think no Islamist terrorist has done that, I'd say think again.
They are going to try and prove entrapment by the undercover police, it's great to have an Intel Unit but nowadays with all the liberals they make you look like a lying Jag in court, especially Tom Durkin, and this little young Sara Gel something or other, she is the attorney for the group that was protesting in the loop everyday and getting arrested. She go represented them all in br 29 and they all got cut.

I don't remember Obama running against Bush. Two of the defendants weren't old enough to vote when Bush ran in 00 and in 04. Stupid comment
I love how the media forgets about all the other details of the trial except for the minor stuff. Scum times and fibune strike again. Be safe out there.
