Impersonator

  • Robert Rozycki can’t get enough of the cop world. The guns, the uniform, the bulletproof vest, the cop car.

Only problem — he’s not a cop. He’s just played one on the street.

Rozycki has gone to prison four times, twice for pretending to be a cop, another time for claiming to be a bomb and arson investigator with the Chicago Fire Department.

He’s got a pending criminal charge in Cook County court — again for allegedly posing as a cop.
There's a link to an uploaded video from 10 months ago or so in the article. The YouTube comments are the typical leftist crap you see every time something like this pops up and carious comments blame the CPD for what was purportedly a "marshal" cuffing and arresting someone. It never involved any law enforcement personnel.

Don't expect retractions or apologies though

n a side note, here's what to do to prevent being stopped by a police impersonator: If in your car, the law states that you must pull over even for an unmarked car. However, if it's a traffic stop, the officer MUST be in uniform. Roll your window down just enough to listen to the officers orders. Remember you don't have to speak at all, but you must provide an ID. If the officer isn't in a bonifide uniform, be suspicious and ask for credentials. If he refuses to produce them, call 911 and verify you're being stopped and ask for a marked car and uniformed officer. Unmarked cars shouldn't be in beater condition, and should be equipped with a flashing red or blue light. Volunteer firemen use blue lights on their personal vehicles but they don't make traffic stops. The symbol of lawful authority of policeman is his actual metal badge and ID. If he can't produce a real badge, with agency and badge #, be suspicious. Unfortunately, many police depts substitute embroidered patches that simulate a metal badge. Police impersonators often posess the gear and pseudo-uniform equipment that is realistic (thanks to EBay) and drive ex-police cars sold at auction. If you're wary of his authenticity, don't get out- call 911. These individuals are dangerous wack jobs, and women often get assaulted because they don't know what to do. Most importantly, KNOW YOUR RIGHTS!! When stopped by police. Any diligent officer will acknowledge your concerns and respect them.

OT: The CityWide Team was out handing out ice scrapers. Nice gift till you realize that you paid for it thru excessive salaries to the members of the FOP Board. I figure the 2% I lost for 2012 and 2013 cost me $3479.65 already.

You wonder how much money Dan Herbert and Paul Geiger are funding the CityWide Team with? Why have 17 of 27 people from the CityWide Team of three years ago left that ticket?

Working VRI last night we (the po’s working) compared notes on the election. The CityWide Guys keep changing their story about the retro letter:

We did not know it was not sent on time.

We knew it was not sent but it was not our job to do his work for him (Shields),

We could not sign it.

Can anyone give us a reason to vote for any incumbent on the Executive board? Look at the inside cover of your calendar book and do not vote for any of them!

You sir are obviously not a cop....

Traffic stops do not require a uniform. Uniform and a marked vehicle is only required as an element for charging someone with fleeing and eluding.

Glass does not stop bullets. So cracking windows to speak to an officer is not going to help your situation.

Not sure where you are from but some CPD vehicles can be junked in the current condition they are in.

We don't call our metal "badges"... they are STARS.

Best way to protect yourself.... Use common sense. Police vehicles are usually well equipped with lights. Chicago police are ALL BLUE. Suburbs are BLUE/RED. If the car has lights on the roof, its the police. If its an unmarked car with lots of lights, its probably the police. If the lights look a little off, I would dial 911 and inform the dispatcher you are being pulled over by an unmarked car. Give your location and they may either tell you yes its a police car or they may send someone to check on you. In the suburbs the dispatcher will know its a legit stop because officers call stops in. In Chicago it will be a little different. They may send an officer to check on the stop for your safety and the safety of the supposed "officer". Keep in mind that Cook County/ISP operate in the city of Chicago as well. So you may see BLUE and RED lights in the city once in a while.

Knowing your rights doesn't mean saying "I know my rights" when an officer asks you to step out of the car.

Go preach on youtube TROLL.

Police Impersonators: Armed Security Officers employed by private security firms under contract at low-income housing developments in the City of Chicago. These security firms purchase former unmarked police vehicle; equipped with an In-Car camera; emergency light bar in the rear window. The armed- security officer(s) sometimes operate this type of vehicle in and around the low-income housing development, under circumstances as if this vehicle is an Authorized Emergency Vehicle:in complete disregard for the Rules of the Road, during the performance of their security related duties. The personnel are dressed in a black shirt and black pants with just their last name patched above their right side shirt pocket. They think and talk as if their vehicle is a squad car, and they think and take action as if they are the police during the performance of their security related duties. Even, Off-Duty Chicago Police Officer(s) have been identified as an employee of the security firm. The Off-Duty's role is to give authenticity to the role of the armed security officer in complete defiance of the FOP LODGE 7, and spirit of the labor agreement's intent, and in conflict with City of Chicago Ethics Ordinance, rules of evidence, and the department directives relating to On-View incidents occurring during the performance of their security related duties. The specific security firms exist more and more at different locations, such as in the Dearborn Homes, Altgeld Gardens, etc. Who regulates the security firm? Uniform Appearance, vehicles unmarked? these two issues alone may conflict with the Illinois Department of Professional Regulation-Restrictions, and IVC 5/related articles: vehicles used to further a business enterprise must be marked with the firm's name and telephone number.

------------------------------------------------------------------

Yet another part time street lawyer who thinks they know something and don't know anything. Unmarked police cars are not required to have red or blue flashing lights. Many of the CPD tact cars have oscillating head lamps and that is all. You are also not guaranteed the right that u must be stopped by a uniformed officer. You can request one at your stop but non uniform personel can pull you over.

And even more misinformation. An officers badge is a symbol. The thin badge alone does not make an officer. The actual part that is required and makes you the police is an official police is with a picture. Your star/badge means absolutely nothing. They can be found online in copies almost anywhere. This author was right about one thing. When in doubt call 911 and wait for uniform car. Pull into a well lit public place you feel comfortable in.

Every time I get pulled over its for something turning on red so it's no question it's a legit stop.

If you are so interested in making traffic stops, go back to working a beat car. As for women, I always advise call 911 and pull over in a public place. Impersonators can and will get the flashing lights, car, etc, that is not hard. Years ago one was pulling over women, raping and killing them. Any Anyone on the job with female relatives should be worried, and advise their female friends/relatives to pull into a public place, and any P.O . should understand when a female calls 911 on them. You just summed up your sorry 17 year career when you stated that plain clothes officer making traffic stops should go back to a beat car. Some of my best arrests were from traffic stops. If they don't have a valid license you can make an arrest and a custodial search. This holds up better in court than your typical street stop. I'm guessing you've never searched a car on one of your very few traffic stops. You might even be the type to only write those with d.l.s in order to avoid tvbs.

People driving cars commit crimes. They have guns, drugs and warrants. If you observe someone breaking a traffic law should you ignore them because you are in plain clothes? When they run someone over one block over should someone working plain clothes say "gee I really wish I had been working a beat car then I could have done something."

What do you want, a free lesson in police work?

You're right, I should have phrased the first statement differently. I should have said "to avoid being further victimized by a police imposter". Now for those of you criticizing my comments, review the "fleeing and eluding" statute. Apply the Latin concept "Sine Qua Non". Study it carefully. And for those of you who think I'm invading your private den that promotes and defends fundamental acts of corruption and impropriety, I was indeed a cop for 18 years.
A window won't stop bullets, but it will keep a false personator from reaching in to grab keys, choke, or punch the driver.
Now one more pice of advice: Don't get a $50.00 lawyer when you're guilty of some fundamental act of corruption or impropriety. Stop doing things to make some goof win the ghetto lottery. Always be diligent, set the example for civilians and PPO's, and if you ever tarnish your star, go to Walgreens and get a can of Tarn X (make sure you don't steal it or demand it for 1/2 price).

No reason whatsoever.
Go back to patrol if you want to play traffic.

I seen them in action, total slugs who think they are ace coppers.
Any female gets stopped by an unmarked squad, call 911. The mutts will do anything for a score. If they write you a ticket because you did, beef on them, sorry.

The ultimate problem is that in the quest for greater revenues police have intentionally made the difference between cops and what pretend cops can create very thin. The State of Illinois also issues these law enforcement tribute plates and such to make the illusion even better.

The first time I saw one of those plates it was a on white crown vic police interceptor with all the typical police equipment. Cage in back, bumper bar in front, spot lights, lights mounted in the usual places for unmarked cars, but dark so at night it wasn't clear if they were red or blue, but the housings were in the right spots, the whole nine yards. But it wasn't a cop.

What made me question was that the plate was one I hadn't seen before and the equipment didn't look like what is typically used in this area style wise. When I got closer I could see they weren't cops and the plate was a special issue.

These idiots were driving 55mph in the middle lane of the Edens intentionally screwing up traffic.

What about the cops kid who walks into 25 and 16 dressed up as an ATF agent asking for radios and cars. Then doing street stops with on duty officers backing him up. Was the last name MORON. That was another buried KIRBY cover up, Now she is gone and the impersonator still drives around with no arrest on his record trying to become the police in Chicago and burbs.

Shame on CPD for not doing anything. Next was the 16 year old driving around and now this goof.

I've got an idea. If you are stopped, roll down your window and talk to the guy. If you determine he is an impersonator , arrest him.
You are the police.

1/20/2014 08:56:00 AM

Yeah, she probably IS the police. But it's obvious YOU aren't.

I'm not about to wrestle alone with some pretender(s) without benefit of a radio, or backup, or someone just knowing where the hell I am.

Are you fucking kidding me? You're allegedly a cop? Do you always leave your house without a cell phone and/or a weapon? Have you not been trained in how to use these items? No one is suggesting to walk into an ambush, but for Christ sakes if you're in a situation that goes to shit do what you're trained to do. Go turn your shit in you're a danger to yourself and your partner.

IAD is interested because complaints about impersonators are often initially believed to be misdeeds by po's. Knowing who the goofs are helps to figure out who the idiot is that's the the offender.

Did you even READ the post you're replying to? It was HUMOR. It was about female impersonators, not about IAD or about police impersonators.

I am a CPD officer for 17 years, and a female. I only crack the window on stops, and if you are a plain clothes officer stopping female citizens, for everyone's protection, call it in. You would think we would all work together for a solution instead of calling other posters "Troll" and other nonsense. Let's be professional here.

It's obvious you are a fucking idiot. If you re pulled over and you suspect the person is a an imposter, you identify yourself as the police like you are supposed to do you are pulled over and ask to see an iD. If you don't get one drive away. You want an address? Look up. You want back up? Use your cell phone. This shit isn't hard. Let's not pretend that tact cars can't pull over females just because of the simple fact that you are female. You're claiming to be a Chicago police officer, you should know what they look like and what kind of cars they drive.

Trust your instincts and dont stop, or pull away if the officer looks like an unprofessional goof. If the officer turns out to be real, assist cars WILL stop you, and you might get some extra tickets, but at least you will be alive to explain yourself to the corrupt Crook County Judges, who will Fine the Shit out of you, because they're only interested in generating Revenue for the Regime.

Excellent post. A great way to increase revenue for our pensions.

"Female with 17 years on" and can't figure out traffic yields highest weight and a lot of gun pinches. You sound like a worker! FYI - in the hood, the "bitches" hold dope and pistols for dude and I've personally arrested female dealers and women with guns. One was a old mother with her 5x uuw son....yes, armed habitual charges approved. That was just a stupid stop, right? We also know females drive the craziest in the hood BC they're used to breaks. Sometimes, that needs to be checked though. Or tact should just let people say "my world, I gives no fux?"

To the traffic king with his infinite suburban wisdom: you may have been "the police" but were you really? Think about it. Whoever said people are a liability - agreed. You don't have to be john Wayne, but don't be a coward either.
