Pension Meeting with Rutherford
From an e-mail:
- About 2 months ago I decided to start a FB page titled SAVE THE PENSIONS OF CHICAGOS FIRST RESPONDERS. The page has grown to almost 3000 members. Ideally were keeping the group closed to CPD and CFD members only as we have some unique similarities in our professions that we can use in an effort to fight the politicians. We ideally want this to be more than just a FB page for bitching and moaning and more as a resource for info that's important to all of us, and to determine which politicians may actually be on our side, as few as they may be.
Lt John Garrido has been kind enough to reach out to Republican gubernatorial candidate Dan Rutherford and he has agreed to two separate meet and greets to discuss the concerns of Chicagos First Responders.
The first one is scheduled for our north side friends at the VFW HALL AT CANFIELD/HIGGINS ON 25 Jan 2014 from 10-1130am.
The second one is planned for the south side on 1 February 2014 at the VFW LEGION HALL IN EVERGREEN PARK AT 9701 S KEDZIE from 9am-10am doors will open at 830am. Lt Garrido and I will be covering the fees for the use of the halls ourselves as we feel it's important enough to all of us.
I'm not endorsing anyone or asking anyone to vote for a particular candidate but since we at least were able to get a leading candidate to meet with us and hear our concerns we think it's important to get the word out there. If you wouldn't mind dedicating a post to this in the near future it would be appreciated. The last thing we want is to set this up and have only 15-20 people show up and then we look like a joke to these candidates. It's important that they understand we WILL VOTE and our concerns are important to us and our families. Also before anyone asks we have no ties to any union or any candidates running for any union positions. This is just something we chose to do on our own. Thank you for your help
Sincerely,
Mike Walsh
The first meeting is this Saturday and we know that there are plenty of cops, firefighters and retirees up north who have a vested interest in these "reform" efforts. We also know that the northside had the last recorded republican aldercreature in living memory.

Gee, isn't this exactly what the FOP is doing and did a year ago? There was a south side meeting last night with another scheduled up north shortly. Might be nice if everyone gets on the same page.
This sounds like a great idea until I read they have no connections to any unions or candidates running for union positions. Lt. Garrido is sending requests out on Facebook to all his contacts to like Dean Angelos' (FOP presidential candidate) Facebook page. I personally received the request. So how can he say they have no ties to any unions or any candidates running for union positions? Garrido seems to be a nice guy from what people say but is a politician at the end of the day. There's some agenda there. And who's running this FB pension page and whats it called?
Unfortunately weas police are not a cohesive unit. We don't vote. Thats the sad part. We have to remind all the members that every vote counts period. It doesn't matter who you vote for, just vote. Not everyone will agree on all the issues, but if we vote, the city will liste. We have one of the biggest and most important voting blocks in the city and county. But county, state and city politicians know that we don't sticlk in voting. We can vote anyone in and out of office. Between us the workers, retirees and family, the politicians should be afraid of us, but sad part is that we forgot who we are and how important our future is. Yet we are allowing a few hacks to decide for us. Make it a point to remind everyone to vote, just vote. Wventually we will turn it around
O.T. Sergeant's List
There are a lot of good hard working officers who are on the old sergeant's list. If the city creates a class of 30 sergeant's then a good friend and old partner would make sergeant. This guy worked his tail off. I mean he worked his tail off to get the result that he got. I saw him study hours and hours at work while on midnights and plus he studied at home and on his r.d.o.'s. Plus he took a lot of his own time off to study. He had to sit back and patiently watch as with each new sergeant's class, the "merit sergeant's" skipped over him. What a tremendous travesty to the person who worked hard to obtain their own score. If you are a decent person and worked hard, then know this; some of us are rooting for you. Not all of us are bitter and angry and want the worse for others. I want the very best for each and every one of my brother and sister officers. Take care.
Brace yourselves people! The politicians (Rahm, Rauner) can't wait to sink their teeth into the pension.
How can I join the FB group?
The country will probably be broke in less than ten years.
This kind of stuff needs to .start being announced at roll call we all need to bethere this is our future that's at stake we need to unite and show these politicians that were not gonna stand for it
Let's hope the showing here is better than the poor turnout at the Ag School. It was another opportuity for the current FLOP administration to show how great they are and how they are fighting for the membership. The hacks they had show up should have been called out on the voting that happened in Springfield in December. Dougherty and crew toe the south side political line and have no interest in anyone but their own agenda. They suck.
Wish the meeting was at night. Most of the people this effects or that it will effect soon, as we retire, are working days..

"One new proposal states that a qualifying patient * * * OR CAREGIVER * * * may not possess a firearm, even if they have a state firearm owner's identification card or concealed carry permit, and violators may be subject to sanctions by state police."
Legit Question?
Isn't John Garrido involved in a lawsuit claiming the following?
Per DNAinfo Chicago...
"Garrido received two $500 contributions from Juan Gaytan, the owner of Monterrey Security, which was hired as a subcontractor to the company responsible for the reviled(
Chicago ) parking-meter deal.
PS: Next time I'll post his remarks about pension reform when he ran as a Republican for Cook County President. You could also look it up yourself when he was interviewed by Chicago Tribune Editorial Board.
SCC thanks for the post, appreciate it.
Before you go check the better government association web site pension database at bettergov.org there is a pull down menu. Check the judges/legislators and see the big pensions that they are getting for serving in cases less than 10yrs some with only 1 or 2 yrs. I am not talking about one or two people I am talking at least 50 to 100. Are they going to change that? Just think 2 yrs on the police dept and get 13,000 a yr with at 3% compounded raise every year!
John Garrido is a good man. His dad still owes me ten bucks though.
Well stated SCC.
Make it a standing room crowd. If N/S coppers. etc have no time for this then stop the beefing when the wrong guy gets in.
Start changing your affliation to REPUBICAN ! That will also send a message.
They will still pick up your garbage.
I have been telling friends and family to vote for Rutherford for Gov. since I learned he was running!!! He is pro police, fire and military!!!
FB link? Can't find it.
This is great SCC I will be there. We need to have a controled informative meeting and not let our anger show it's face. We need to be armed with facts and let the politicians know that it's chicago that dropped the ball and stole, borrowed, and destroyed the pension not us. Besides, shouldn't the pension fund be making a lot of money right now? Anyone with money in the market is.
We should bring up to all the politicians a comparison of what we EARN and PAY FOR in our pensions and what they get in their fully funded pensions.
Could someone who is going to that meeting (I live several states away) look up the pensions(plural) for Mr. Rutherford.
Compare that with the pensions of Mr. Quinn, Mr. Rahm, Mr. Daley and how about Mr. Blagoavich and Mr. Ryan.
Another question: Are the Social Security benefits of Elected officials cut the same way it is for ordinary government pensioners?
Besides all the obvious reasons why Chicago politicians destroyed the first responders pension. maybe most importantly we need to arm ourselves with a list of all the money that was available and spent on pet projects over the last 15 years. Maybe Springfield politicians will start asking Chicago why you spent all that money instead of fixing the pension.
Quick question. If Tom Plines, who was the labor attorney for FOP with the Donahue regime, sent the letter to city to ensure retro pay, why didn't Paul Geiger, our current labor attorney, send it for the Shields regime?
Jesus Christ, give it a rest already. You don't want to end up like me...
Good idea.
It occurs to me that if at least one of the Republican candidates came out in favor of a reform that didn't seek to take away benefits already promised, that could be our candidate.
It still amazes me that Quinn and Emanuel are proposing changes and cuts to our benefits more harmful and drastic than Walker's in Wisconsin supposedly were to public employees and yet teachers, first responders, and other city and state workers most affected would just let them walk all over us than to have Springfield or city hall become a protest site like they did in Madison, Wisconsin.
Don't forget the politicians who "serve" areas with a high volumn of City Workers as Residents.
If they voted against US, don't forget to Vote Against THEM.
We can't buy them, but we can get rid of them.
What about central locations, like around the area of the credit union/FOP hall. I don't live far north or south.
the fix is in rainer is the next gov, hillary are next president and rahm wall street buddies will make billions when they loot our our pensions.
OT and meanwhile...Garry McCarthy on merrijahwanna:
"it should either be legal or illegal, but it should not be decriminalized."
interpretation: "it should either be black or white, but it should not be black."
Rahm and Garry have a better chance at saving Fallujah then Chicago.

Lt. Garrido is a nice guy. If memory serves me correct, he ran as a Democrat for public office. Then when that didn't work out for him, he ran as a Republican. Nice guy though. He definitely has our interests at heart and thinks of others before he even thinks about himself.
I like that Rutherford is first to step up. I don't believe that Quinn (or Rutherford) would harm First Responders current pension laws, but could add change for the future hired. There's a lot of weasely crafting that's been going on for the past 20 years and really picked up steam in the recent 3 years, perhaps at the next call for a Illinois Constitional Convention (in 2028), the pension bubble could burst and Quinn/Madigan/Cullerton will be long gone.
— 2 votes for Rutherford here,
41st Ward/66 Pct.
Mr SouthSide. John Sr will owe you $10 when you meet in heaven.
I wrote the letter to SCC, not Garrido
So I have no idea who he is or is not endorsing for FOP. THIS IS NOT ABOUT UNION POLITICS. I'm not personally endorsing anyone for any political position or for any union position and I'm Not asking anyone to endorse anyone either. I'm just trying to do my part to help coppers and firemen see which candidates do or do not support us and to see what candidates have to say. I know all of you union guys love to think everything is all about you but this is for anyone that just wants to hear what a particular candidate has to say regarding issues that affect us. Grow the fuck up and stop making every effort to divide us. If the union has open forums with candidates by all means go to them and see what they have to say, if someone else hosts something then by all means go to that too. I don't care what anyone does I'm just trying to do a little something to help out. If you don't want to go then don't. Were all adults here, although a lot of times some can't act like it. I simply asked SCC to post this so more people would be aware of it. MIKE WALSH
What does Lappe do over at the pension board and the other SGT there do? Why do these guys never speak up for our pensions? What propose do they serve? Lappe seems like a self promoting dude? is that accurate?
Wish the meeting was at night. Most of the people this effects or that it will effect soon, as we retire, are working days..

Okay, why don't we just stop and visit you at home while you're sitting there with your feet up , slippers on. We'll stop and bring you some hot chocolate to sip on too. Bed time is what- 8:30 or do you stay up until 9 to watch the news?
Typical whining, old screw....
A vote for Quinn or Rauner is a vote for Rahm. Brady/Dillard are meant to cancel out votes for Rultherford. If anything rally around a decent man and for god sakes VOTE!
"...from Juan Gaytan, the owner of Monterrey Security..."
Juan Gaytan- ex Chicago Police- left under investigation- or was he fired??..

You can't be serious. There is no difference between the two parties. A real second party that will stand for voters with conservative values is needed.
We need to have a massive campaign showing all the billions of $$$$ the city has spent over the years on countless BS pet projects. I know of a few(Maggie Daley park, Depaul, Malcome X, bike lanes, CTA)but I'm sure someone can list many many more. The city needs to be called on the carpet on this. How can they bitch about the pension $$$ when they spend like drunken sailors. People(hopefully politicians and courts too)need to start asking "why didn't you put that money into the police and fire pension like you should have instead of project X? Aren't your first responders an important asset and investment also?" If Chicago's police and fire departments are weak wouldn't that have an impact on chicago's economy? Who would want to build a business here or invest? We need to show where the city spends money.
Rutherford is very pro police and fire. He refused an endorsement from a particular group that leans toward haters.
I read his response when he ran for treasurer 3 years ago very pro police.
He's got my vote. Just sayin.
I remember a time not so long ago when I stood next to my brothers in solidarity as we marched around city hall. Unanimously shouting to the man! The time has come once again to not only band like brothers but to stand up and shout to Springfield and let it be known that we have bled, we have fought, and we have cried at the sacrifices which our brothers paid in blood protecting our great city. Now that the time has come for our brave men to collect their solitude and to collect what was promised, lo and behold the city and state government are turning around and treating us like strangers. I like many of you have no political ties, but what I do swear to you is that whoever runs and stands up to try to resolve our pension crisis in a positive way, I will vote, campaign, donate time and money, and so should you! This pension crisis is not for our children to worry about it, it's happening now!! Now is the time to protect what was promised!! Now is the time to act! As we continue to loose sleep protecting our city, our public official are hardly loosing sleep scheming ways to reduce/eliminate our future! see you at the meeting!!
EV
Dear John,
As a member of the FOP I will apologize for Bill Dougherty and the Citywide team. You are trying to do the right thing to protect our pension. You are doing everything my union fails to do. Now all they can do is slam you. Don't let Billy and Mark get you down keep doing the right thing. Thank you John keep up the good work.
Here is Lt. JG's Editorial responses when he ran for board president:
http://primaries2010.elections.chicagotribune.com/editorial/john-garrido-iii/
his responses for alderman:
http://municipal2011.elections.chicagotribune.com/editorial/john-garrido/
One of the main reasons the pensions are underfunded is because the City stopped paying their share. The Chicago Police Fund was actually in decent shape as recently as ten years ago. Once again, the city needs to clean house before going to the front line employees and asking them to make sacrifices. That may be a necessity down the road, but not until the City, County and State eliminates wasteful spending. There may be no need to require higher contributions, higher retirement ages or reduced benefits for employees.

The question is not whether Garrido is this or that.
The question is, do you want to hear what this guy has to say? Do you want to let him know what we need and expect of our next governor?
Either go and help, and be part of the process, or sit home and whine about how the system failed you.

Doherty & Donahue declined to be involved in any meet & greets with candidates.
Save the Pensions of Chicago's First Responders is the facebook page run by a Fireman- invite only 2,993 members. Find someone who is a member and have them invite you.
No one will show up.. & the meeting will make us look like fools. My prediction. Oh and the ones that do show will ask dumb questions.
Mike Walsh, thank you for taking the time to set this up. Its a good thing when someone takes the intiative to actually do something about our pension problems instead of the usual bitching and moaning. That being said, next time I would leave Garrido's name out of it even if he did help out. The guy has a sordid history that the less said about the better. Whether he is legit or a self aggrandizing shyster is up for debate. Either way his name taints any legitimacy of anything having to do with politics. Everyone should go though regardless because this is our future at stake.

Please, I've had the opportunity to look at the circulators of his petitions for Cook County Board President. When you do the research, your whole perspective changes. Can you say Elmwood Park?
Anyone can make a promise during an election, and mean nothing. What were the actions taken?
Remember, "no new taxes", during a run for office!
Why isn't the person who wrote this e-mail identified as well? I'm glad that Lt. Garrido has opted to come out from the shadows, but in the interest of full disclosure, shouldn't the writer of this e-mail's identity be made known here as well?

Thanks for posting this, SCC. Rutherford is not only pro-police, he's also one of the only 2 candidates who opposed the pension cuts. Says he thinks they're unconstitutional.
We're backed into a corner, and this is one of the only guys giving us the time of day.
Quick question. If Tom Plines, who was the labor attorney for FOP with the Donahue regime, sent the letter to city to ensure retro pay, why didn't Paul Geiger, our current labor attorney, send it for the Shields regime?

Nice try "insert citywide team blogger here". Guys and gals...ask Dohanhue when he comes to your roll call if he sent the letter when he was president. See if he tells the truth that the attorney sent it or if he so worried about obtaining another salary from our dues that he lies and says he did.

They keep getting elected because a large amount of those city workers and or their families, friends and relatives owe their jobs to them. Been in Chicago long?
Keep hearing how Dean Angelo is going to cut the salaries of board members. Too bad that change won't go into effect until the next term per the bylaws. So when he hands the keys to the FOP to his son, strogerstyle, after a year it won't affect his salary.
small turnout election day is exactly why politicians crap on us , get the petition to cut alderman positions to 20 back on the ballot , it' ll pass with flying colors
water bill doubled , city sticker increase and many other tax increases to pay people to do what , vote the way the mayor tells them to.
look at that criminal that spent a lot of time in Washington dc , missed city council meetings
proof way to many alderman
Yea don't show up and vote Democrat, how is that working out for ya. Rahm and Quinn are standing by with their axes to cut our pensions you know that up front, why not support this guy and take a chance? At least see what he has to say.

*******************
Eh, really? Who gives a fuck if he's "pro police" or the fuck not? Just because you claim he's pro police doesn't mean he gives a fuck about protecting your pay and benefits. A LOT of politicians like cops too, but they'll gladly fuck them over in pay and benefits because it makes their campaign contributors that much richer in corporate welfare and deregulation. Doesn't mean they don't still "like" cops.
And for his "anti pension cut" stance? He's already on record stating WHY he wouldn't vote for the pension cuts, and it AIN"T because it screws over employees and is illegal, it's because it doesn't cut far enough.
THAT'S your pal Rutherford.... go back and read what his stance is..... BEFORE he thought he was gonna get union money after learning he wasn't gonna get enough big business money.
Rutherford is gonna fuck over ALL state and city employees just like every other motherfucker politician who gets elected from here on out. These fuckers are now getting bought off by big business, and they don't need our money anymore, so you can expect to fight this all the way to the top no matter who the fuck gets elected where, because our union money doesn't protect us from scumbag cocksuckers looking to buy an election from the pittance of cash big money has to spend to get their friends elected.
And right now, big money is selling you dopes on the lie that their boy Rutherford is gonna make sure you don't get violated in pension law. Truth is, he's gonna fuck you like potato head fucked you, and just like all your state reps just fucked you.
They ALL get their money from big business now, and they pay a small sum to sell lies to the stupid masses as to which criminal to vote for. It's big business buying the election no matter which way it goes, it's just a matter of WHICH crony businesses get to steal our money, that's all.
Wise up..... your government has been co-opted away from representing you, you just still think the fucking lies they tell you to get elected are the truth.
The truth is ALL big business wants EVERYONE dependent on government, that way their money controls the entire country, not just wages and benefits. Open your fucking eyes.
When you guys learn how to spell (even some of the post threads here are embarrassing), then maybe, just maybe, I can call myself a proud REPUBLICAN.
1/23/2014 12:59:00 AM
Then maybe, just maybe, I can call you a dolt who thinks party affiliation means a fucking thing in the real world.
Wise up dipshit, both parties wanna fuck public employees because they're the last honeypot of cash to steal from before having to raise taxes again, you're just another fool who's too stupid to understand this. Your pension money is what they want to steal into hedge funds first, after that's gone your medical is next, followed by your wages. As less tax money comes in, their excuse for gutting you goes up. When you're finished off and dependent on government like the rest of the country, THEN the rich will be willing to pay their taxes in exchange for their complete control over the country and it's government.
But you just keep worrying about grammar and spelling.
I am sure many of us would like to avoid paying our bills without any penalty Vote them all out
Mike don't you get it, Rutherford is a politician who is running for Govenor, he really doesn't care one bit about the pensions of the Police or city workers, he is trying to gather votes, our pension demise is a done deal, Madigan and Burke are Rich SNAKES, they run things, The voting public has no clue on how to vote, I know you mean well, but bottom line is that Rahm wants to not pay our pensions.

You are an embarrassment.
Start attending FOP meetings on a regular basis and ask HIM.
Don't forget the Beverly Arts Center that was on Rahms donation list and Daley's or Sis Daley's I should say flower boxes all over the city and roth iron put up all over at a Hugh cost to the city ans Hugh profit for Daley's thieven friends.

Correct Quick Answer: Yes Shields was the President and should of sent the letter. But when the rest of them saw that the letter was not sent, any of them had the right and RESPONSIBILITY as elected FOP executive members to have that letter sent in on time. So the blame goes to ALL.

Exactly. You can't cry broke while you spend like wild. If a person were to not pay income tax but purchase an expensive new car, take vacations, upgrade the house etc. and then get called out by the IRS, they would not be able to cry broke. The pension was a contractual agreement upon employment to be a first responder for the citizens of chicago. We put into the pension every pay check per the agreement. We have no say in that. It is automatic. We will not get rich on the pension and for the lowly police officer it's not a lot of money upon retirement. Many work other jobs to get by.
Also, If the pension fund even has idiots as fund managers it should be making loads of money in the stock market. If the city would stop spending all kinds of money on silly projects which they call "investments" and meet their obligations and "invest" in first responders making for a safe city then there probably would not be much of an issue.

Doherty & Donahue declined to be involved in any meet & greets with candidates
////
Guess you must be some of the uniformed voters that we talk about all the time. As a matter of fact the last meeting at the ag school was so packed we could not get any more people into the building, and then on two nights ago we had another meet and greet involving our pensions but apparently you were to busy blogging and putting out bullshit about people. The we had another campaigner handing out his fliers and talking about another candidate but could not find time to come into the meeting and learn about our pensions and what is involving our futures. Why don't all you idiots try and use your time and resources toward bettering all of us instead of slandering and hiding behind the blog print your names and if what you say has truth then by all means reach out to the ones you are accusing instead of hiding like cowards and spreading your lies.
Thanks for posting this, SCC. Rutherford is not only pro-police, he's also one of the only 2 candidates who opposed the pension cuts. Says he thinks they're unconstitutional.
You forgot that he was against it also because it was not enough.
Lt. Garrido is sending requests out on Facebook to all his contact.
Good luck trusting him. He has been a known Republican for years and run under their party before, Not saying that I am supporting a Democrat.
Didn't Lt. Garrido want to be a Aldercreature?
And we are support a candidate for Governor after the Pension reform has already passed? WHY?
It's interesting how the politicians want to target the first responders pensions while they all get a pension also. Typical how they all sit around and talk about every else's pension while they receive far greater benefits than the ones they target. The sad part is they are the ones that created this mess. They controlled the fund. This saga may also end up in the laps of judges who also get far greater pensions than the ones they may have to rule on. The whole thing is sick from all ends. On a side note I just saw how the city is now spending big $$$ to contract a company to light up downtown. So Rahm has money for that now also? Is this necessary? This is the kind of spending that needs to stop.
Mark Donahue and his lap dog Billy Dougherty Both went against a Police Sergeant running for office. Joe Bird. But they backed the 19th ward secretary running for the Illinois house. Joe Bird a Lawyer who is the police and worked in patrol Vs. Fran Hurley, a secretary that got one of those scholarships for the connected for her son because she was Rugai's secretary. No law degree, but now she can legislate and vote for the pension reforms like she did against state workers. No wonder Fran came out for Marks little shin dig last week. City Wide team 19th ward Madigan rubber stamp team.
Dougherty and Donahue declined meet and greets with candidates. MY ASS. They organized the same type of meeting with Hurley and Cunningham in Mt Greenwood just last week. The secretary with out any experience except answering the phone and picking up an alderman's dry cleaning that Donahue and Bill backed against one of our own.
Garrido was robbed in his election bid by SEIU. To bad City Wide Team Leaders didn't back him either.

Don't forget the Beverly Arts Center that was on Rahms donation list and Daley's or Sis Daley's I should say flower boxes all over the city and roth iron put up all over at a Hugh cost to the city ans Hugh profit for Daley's thieven friends.

Wrought iron, not roth. Huge cost, not Hugh. Thieving friends, not thieven.
But other than that, you're right.

IMPOSSIBLE, given the current climate. Maybe when the economy improves, but it would be political suicide for anyone to broach it right now.
OT but VERY interesting.....
Data obtained by The Baltimore Sun showed inaccuracy rates 40 times higher than those claimed by city officials. Of the 700,000 tickets issued in 2012, 10 percent were errors and 26 percent were questionable. Before the audit, city officials repeatedly claimed the cameras' error rate was only two percent. Some cameras were issuing incorrect tickets nearly half of the time. One camera issued incorrect tickets 58 percent of the time. At $40 a pop, the city may be on the hook to pay back $2.8 million to unfairly ticketed motorists.
Baltimore's city officials are keeping the full report under wraps however, citing a a settlement agreement between the city and Xerox State and Local Solutions, the company that was contracted to run the cameras. The settlement did not go through the Board of Estimates or the city Comptroller.
"Who ever heard of a secret audit?" Councilman Carl Stokes told The Baltimore Sun. "We should have told the public immediately. We should have declared complete amnesty, that all of the tickets were null and void. If anybody paid, they should be paid back."
Officials quietly scrapped the speed camera program after receiving the audit last spring and tried to pay back some motorists. Baltimore's speed camera woes began in December when a camera tagged a motionless car as going 13 miles over the speed limit. In January of last year the cameras were replaced with newer, supposedly more accurate models.

Hurley and Cunningham ?? Come on those 19th ward communist Red crony politicians own the citywide team
We need SELFLESS leadership in our union not the SELFISH group that has been hanging around the hall for 20 plus years. Years ago, a union told a politician what to do, Today Politicians tell the Union leadership what to do.
Nice try "insert citywide team blogger here". Guys and gals...ask Dohanhue when he comes to your roll call if he sent the letter when he was president. See if he tells the truth that the attorney sent it or if he so worried about obtaining another salary from our dues that he lies and says he did.
You must be a brain dead fucking idiot. At least it got sent. Shields is on record claiming he would send it. If that's not enough for your simple mind to comprehend that HE should have sent it, you are a fucking moron and shouldn't be the police.

1/22/2014 03:12:00 PM
The ignorance of some of my co-wirkers never ceases to amaze me. Wisconsin Republican Governor Scott Walker actually codified pension protections for all Wisconsin police officers, deputy sheriffs, firemen, EMT's and paramedics. Police officers supported Walker unanimously during the failed recall effort, aided in part by none other than the soon to be "former" Chicago Police Sergeants Association President, Jim Ade. Thats right! The same Jim Ade who sidled up to Rahm Emmanual to reduce retiree pension benefits while at the same time increasing their pension contribution, sent out email's to Sergeants requesting that we march lock-step with Karen Lewis, the SEIU, and other supporters of Mumia Abu Jamal to protest against a Wisconsin governor who preserved all police pension benefits, while at the same time required teachers to make modest first time contributions. So go ahead, vote for a democrat but at least learn the facts.
Here’s Rutherford’s full statement on the State
PENSION REFORM LEGISLATION BEFORE the vote:
Chicago-December 2, 2013-
“I have taken due consideration over the long
Thanksgiving weekend to evaluate the proposal for State Public Pension Reform.
Having examined the information available, I do not support the current legislation. I do not believe it will withstand judicial review should it pass the Illinois General Assembly,” said State Treasurer Dan Rutherford.
“Strong beliefs are held in this debate, but fundamental to our rule of law is our Constitution. Our government’s obligation can be changed through a process involving adequate consideration to the employees.
In my opinion, the legislation before us fails to address this relationship and offer adequate consideration in exchange for altering the pension benefits.”
“I look forward to working with the General Assembly and interested parties for a fair, Constitutional resolution to the biggest financial issue facing our state”, concluded Treasurer Rutherford.

Because you see a raise I'm your already undeserved over inflated salary is reprehensible. Fuck you and fuck the Citywide ticket. Back tot district for you jerkoffs.

No he did not. That dubious distinction belongs to John "May I hold your coat Mr. Madigan" Mulroe. Another half witted Hibernian interloper who has fucked up Edison Park.
Is this meeting still on?

How many years do you have on the job?
You are an embarrassment.
Start attending FOP meetings on a regular basis and ask HIM.
1/23/2014 09:18:00 AM
Oh another one of those things eh? Everything of interest is only shared at an fop meeting? Cheese and crackers, you guys at FOP and the pension board just do not get it and are a complete waste.

I agree with you even though you have lots of typos. The problem I see with the FOP is that it is a club and not staffed with one person who gives a sh-t about cops. You guys talk about hating the merit guy, well these guys are 20 times worse than merit in my opinion.
I'm disgusted that the fop has turned out to be just a place for cops to have a career or a huge chunk of their career making an extremely large salary while doing no real negotiating or even caring about the working po. Back room deals? I believe it. It explains why vacation and bfd days are no longer days but fractions of our negotiated days, now hours. Or increases in insurance in past years or changes to medical that get passed without telling the membership beforehand.
I have no faith in the fop any longer. I see them for what a majority of the "lifers" there are. I personally don't want to pay for these guys to make more than I do while pissing on me. And their "attorneys" or advocates or whatever they are, don't fight for cops either. Instances of lack of knowledge of general orders in giving advice, publicly trashing coppers they've represented, publicly trashing each other, the list goes on. The fop has proven to be a supremely unprofessional organization filled with po's we're paying to get a substantial raise in salary and a more generous pension than po's will ever see.
To all those who have been there for many years, I truly hope your days on the FOP are numbered. I don't care what "team" you're running on, or what your position is. As for the unethical and lousy representation, you guys are just as bad as the heads of the fop. You guys don't care about cops either. The fop should be cleaned out and everyone should be vetted for real integrity and moral character. Forget your speeches saying you have any of that. Most of us have seen nothing but a group of people who've abused their powers at our expense. Who sh--t on policemen, screwing up the letter to "prove a point" so they can topple the guy they didn't like and run for fop president. You're no better than a politician using his clout to shut down traffic just to prove a point. Abuse of power. I hope it's taken away from you who are guilty.
"What does Lappe do over at the pension board and the other SGT there do? . . . ? What propose do they serve?
Nothing? Hauser represented us for years and watched the funding drop without lifting a finger to stop it. Wonder what he got for being such a good lap dog?
Hey fuckwads. Want the truth? Go read Shields September 2013 newsletter article. He writes that it was his responsibility to send the letter. Even worse he pretty much admits he intentionally didn't send it.
I don't understand how you can blame anyone but him. He knew about it but didn't send it until almost 3 weeks past the deadline. Fuck him and fuck all of you too if you still believe it was anyone else's fault.
Went to the meeting with Rutherford on Saturday. Typical political speech by him but he does sound like the lesser or all evils. He thinks current pension reform law will be shot down in court as unconstitutional. He sounds pro police but has no control by his own admission over long term politicians like Madigan regarding our pension issues. Has no answers how to shore up pension funds but wants to honor contracts and be fair in negotiations. He is not a typical chicago politician which could be good and bad for us. Whatever the choice Quinn is not it !!

So get rid of those hacks and then you don't owe anyone for your damn job.
Start with 19th Ward, 41st Ward, 44th Ward, 27th Ward.

Learn how to read Rutherford elected in 2010. Not sworn in to January, 2011. Rutherford took the vote it was his last vote.. HE DID VOTE TO RAISE THE INCOME TAX

I guess you think if you say it enough it will be true. Look at the list of those who voted in January and you will see Rutherford is NOT listed there; it's really not that hard. His last vote was in December 2010. But don't let the facts get in the way.
