Firefighters Hurt

  • Three Chicago firefighters searching a burning basement for three trapped residents inside a Southwest Side home became trapped themselves when flames quickly moved around them, cutting off their exit, officials said today.

While the three residents -- which included two young children -- managed to make it outside to safety, it took a fire department rapid intervention team to help rescue the firemen, who suffered non-life threatening burns in the fast-moving blaze in the 3000 block of South Drake Avenue in the Little Village neighborhood.
We heard a story on Newsradio 780 about another firefighter who suffered minor injuries at a church fire on the west side. A speedy recovery is wished to all of our first responder brothers. Be careful guys and gals.

I would rather run into a building after a guy with a gun than run into one that is on fire. God speed CFD.

Just think about this for a moment: men who play boys' games are paid millions of dollars and called "Heroes". Then there are "Real Heroes", men and women who run into burning buildings to save total strangers. As a Society we are confused. Every day of my career as a Chicago Police Officer, I worked among police and fire fighters. I worked and walked with heroes, everyday was a privilege and honor. Appreciate everyday you are on Da Job, because everyday you are surrounded by "Real Heroes".

God Bless and Speedy Recovery Brothers...

    Think about your family safety.

Do you have a working smoke and carbon monoxide detector(s).

When was the last time the batteries were changes?

Does your family have a plan? (Meet at the tree in front or something like that.)

Stay Safe. Look for and eliminate fire hazards in your home,

If it were not for the Chicago Fire Department and the Chicago Police Department, mostly just the regular people out there not the politically connected bosses THIS CITY WOULD CEASE TO EXIST. It's really that simple. God Bless you All and THANK YOU.

News earlier this evening showed California Highway Patrol Officer took a firefighter into custody at an accident scene as his truck was blocking traffic....he told the Firefighter to move the truck-the Firefighter refused. So the CHiP did the Firefighter!
Saw it with my own eyes-no BS!
