Vanecko Jail Time
- A nephew of former Chicago Mayor Richard Daley today began serving his 60 day sentence after pleading guilty to one count of involuntary manslaughter, officials said.
Richard Vanecko, 39, turned himself into McHenry County officials where he began serving his sentence at the McHenry County Jail, according to McHenry County Sheriff's officials.
A spokeswoman could not say if Vanecko would be in protected custody.
- The BGA supported the appointment of a special prosecutor in the Koschman/Vanecko case, and filed an amicus brief on the matter back in 2012.
We now support continued scrutiny – this time, by your office – to determine whether federal crimes were committed by police, prosecutors or other government figures in regards to the Koschman/Vanecko case.
In many ways, we regarded Mr. Webb's report not as the end of the story, but just the beginning.
But they couldn't do any of this while Shortshanks was running the show.

Why is he in the Mc Henry Co. lock-up and not Cook Co. where the crime occured? He could have been send to Kankakee Co. for safe keeping. Does everybody get to choose where they serve now or only the less lucky.
Why McHenry Co. Jail? Put Vanecko in the Cook Co. Jail with the Scandinavians.
wtf it's a cook county crime tried in a cook county courtroom but the sentence is allowed to b done in mchenry county....... Fucking clout is alive and well
Unbelievable! McHenry county jail? Hr killed somebody and he's still being taken care of. Should be at 26/Cal.
McHenry??? Didn't crime happen in Cook?
Why the hell didn't they put that pussy in Cook County jail.
Why? The Feds are in bed with the city. The city uses the Feds to remove people the democratic machine need out.....and to indict cops of course.
McHenry County? Wtf? It happened in Cook County.
Put that fuckin machine pig in with the young bucks fighting the robbery and pcs cases in Cook County.
Why is Vanecko in the McHenry County Jail? Cook County has jurisdiction. One more fuck you for the peons? (us)
Or was the Ritz Carlton booked those nights? The outrages perpetrated by the Daley Crime Family keep on piling up, don't they?
That family of scum vermin just will not ever be happy being treated like all the other citizens.
Let this poor young man serve his time in peace, and let him return safely to the bosom of his loving family.
As to why Vanecko is doing his time in McHenry County Jail, it might have something to do with the fact that the case was heard in McHenry County, by a McHenry County judge.
Statute of limitations, my ass...
Remember what they did to Bill Cozzi.
The Feds will find SOMETHING to charge these people with. Some coppers should be clenching their butt cheeks thinking about all of this crap. Daley will never get charged with anything, but some clowns who committed crimes for the Daley Crime Family will probably lose their pensions.
Hope it was worth it.
They found their balls after they were told it's OK to grab your sack. Because the players were all off the field. Get it?
Why was he sentenced in McHenry county and not Cook county?
Why is vanecko in a Mchenry County Jail? Instead of Cook County Jail with the reat of the animals! Smells of special Daley treatment!
You sold you're star out Dean. And for what? A position? You became Daley's bitch. You became a whore to the machine. Shame on you!!!! You will be punished by a higher authority one day.
Vanecko should have rolled the dice and asked for home confinement.
All this from BGA Mr. law and order, Andy Shaw?
The Andy Shaw who ran an unlicensed bed and breakfast (may still possibly)and when the city clamped down on his lodging licenses, food inspection and licenses, he threatened them back by implying more bad P.R. for shortshanks while he was at Ch.7.
The city backed off.
Now the guy who operates by 'two sets of rules' is alleging that others operate by...'two sets of rules.'
"Hey, hey look over THERE, don't look over here.:
Q: Are we [Cook county] footing the bill for Vanecko's stay? If we are bring him back.
the feds should prosecute this knuckle head for civil rights violations....219 S. Dearborn St!
Vanecko should be rotting alive in federal prison along with all of his uncles, brother (the little homemade pimp who stole our pension money) and cousins...
Not one Daley male should be able to lay claim to being a free man.
Not a fucking one.
Out by Easter my ass...he will be out by the end of February
BGA and Andy Shaw will use this to dirty up the CPD, not the Daleys.
Wake up.
60 day sentence means he will be out in 30 with good time.
He should be serving his time in Cook County not McHenry. Or does the general public get to decide where they serve their sentence? Special treatment again for the clouted. It never ends.
Yeah, like the BGA solved Browns Chicken. Remember that joke? Bet you they get law firm donations depending on what drivel they push.
As to why Vanecko is doing his time in McHenry County Jail, it might have something to do with the fact that the case was heard in McHenry County, by a McHenry County judge
Well said Masters and Hamilton
From a contributing troll: Investigate the investigation. LOLs. Did I get this right? Democrat centered initial investigation adjudicated by Democrats. A second show piece investigation by more Democrats. Ok, Web is not a Democrat. The Republicans and Democrats often have cozy relationships with each other in this state. But lets face it, what exactly does anyone charged by Eric Holder to investigate the investigation is going to conclude?
Statute of limitations, my ass...
Remember what they did to Bill Cozzi.

Wow, a whole lot of hate going on here. I think it’s blinding you to the facts. Webb never said anyone involved in the 2004 investigation committed any crimes. (Read the report – it’s obvious you haven’t) He only said that the Statute of Limitations would prevent any prosecution IF there were crimes committed. Further, the detective in that investigation ASKED FOR CHARGES. Even going so far as to request help from Thomas Epach to convince the State Attorney to charge. Too bad none of the witnesses could ID Vanecko. To this day they say the same thing and admit they could not ID him.
No criminal activity in 2004 was ever outlined by Webb. Mistakes…gross mistakes, yes. But NO criminal activity.
Put your hate aside for a few minutes and look objectively at the case.
The food is better in McHenry county and they use red tablecloths.
Really assholes how many drunkin copper who killed kids go to the county.
Does he have a bunk bed in his cell? Maybe uncle Dick can join him!
60 days is a travesty..but a Chi travesty so not surprising.
MS
Why shouldn't he pick his jail. Jessie Jackson Jr got to pick his federal pen.

The case was heard in McHenry County, by a McHenry County judge. That is likely why he sits in their jail.
Just A Citizen Says: "Affluenza" strikes again.
He KILLS someone and yet, gets to to pick where he wants to serve his little sentence?
I smell BS.
Bill Cozzi got 3 years for hitting someone and not even the jag off "victim" was pursuing the case
No clout there
Thats what listening to Dean and Sam get ya! Thats why there was the big exodus to Area 3 when Dean came to area 5
What's with the beard? Trying to look like a tough guy or just trying to do his time incognito?
Bullshit!
MFer
Dean should be in cook county!
Crime was committed in Cook County and that's where his time should have been served. Tired of all this double standard shit.
He wasn't tried in mc Henry county it was in the rolling meadows branch of the cook county court system by a mchenry county judge but was definitely
In cook county. Again where is the outrage by the clowns at the scum times
Don't forget to fluff his pillow and kiss him good night. Throw a bedtime story in as an added extra treat. Piece of crap.
All these comments about why he is in a McHenry County Jail astound me......doesn't anyone listen to or read the news? When he got his joke of a sentence, it was announced he requested to do his time outside of Cook County and it was agreed upon. WTF.
The McHenry County Jail has better
" acomidations. "
After all, this is the lord high
mayors nephew.
Ha! Pretty sweet deal for being convicted of murdering someone. Sixty days in the McHenry County Jail instead of the Cook County slammer 'for safety reasons'.
All because he's related to King Richie II (Baron of Bridgeport, Count of Cook, Earl of IL) -- and we can't have poor-poor Mr Vanecko getting beaten, robbed, raped, or shived while locked up due to who his uncle is. No way. Why that wouldn't be *fair*.
Seriously, when I think of him in the McHenry Co Jail I get this picture in my mind of the scene in Goodfellas when Paulie & Henry are doing time in Federal Prison; one step below a hotel with room service. That's how Vanecko will have it while in the McHenry Co Jail.
Tried in McHenry, sentenced in McHenry and he is paying the costs of his incarceration. If every prisoner did that it could fund all the pensions.
Mchenry county? Well, Because from start to finish, it's all been on the up and up that's why. Shameful
This is two shows combined SCANDAL and THE UNTOUCHABLES,staring Shortshanks as the Untouchable!
He pays a fee to be put there.
Yes, the rich and connected can buy the jail they want to serve time in.
It was stated on the news that it was for safety reasons. LOL
He was taken care of not to get charged. Where did you think they were gonna send him? Angola?
Let's move on. Just another chapter in how Daley and his family have been a blight on the city.
well this sentencing and accommadating for dick nephew doesn't make much sense however it is like most things in crook county. the political corrupt crook co, chicago, illinois way. it is shocking that this state is in such dire straits. even more shocking that an ex-mayor's nephew killed someone and tried to cover it up and nephew only gets 60 days. i hope everyone gets what they deserve in this one.
What are the odds that a police case file and a state's attorney's case fileON THE SAME CASE go missing at the same time?
He punches out and kills a guy half his size and then is too scared to do his time in Cook County.
Too bad the original detectives on this case didn't just do their job and handle it properly in the first place. Hope this doesn't come back to bite them in the ass.
Once he's sentenced, he can be moved to any jail in illinois. If it was a fed charge like cozzi, he can be mov ed anywhere in the usa
He shouldn't have gotten jail time to begin with. No background and cases that involve one punch "murders" are probation anyways. Face it, everybody thinks he should spend years in prison because he's related to Daley... But if this was a copper everybody would be crying about how he got screwed just like how cozzie allegedly got "screwed"... Which he didn't he was stupid on camera infront of a ton of witnesses which for coppers means open season
Let the guy serve his time, and lay off him. The top people and their families should not be treated this way.
Did Vanecko get an FOP ballot mailed to him in McHenry?
I love this from 8:24:00 " Further, the detective in that investigation ASKED FOR CHARGES. Even going so far as to request help from Thomas Epach to convince the State Attorney to charge. Too bad none of the witnesses could ID Vanecko. To this day they say the same thing and admit they could not ID him."
Actually, that same original detective testified before a grand jury that he was doing everything he could to leave the decision in the hands of the State's Attorney. He did almost nothing to support charges, instead bringing it to O'Brien at the State's Attorney with so little that O'Brien could justifiably then say no charges.
And the lineup? The one where everybody was bigger than Vanecko, even though the witnesses all said it was the "big guy" who killed Koschman?
You are soft as mule shit. The line up was staged for the Daleys. The "investigation" by the detective and every one up the chain (including the convicted lieutenant, the clouted Andrews, and so on) was staged for the Daleys.
And best of all, the fucking dicks gave Vanecko a defense without ever getting him on the record! Who in the fuck does that you piece of shit? What's the point of being the police if you are making up defenses for people?
Pathetic.

Exactly. All they had to do was pull the video in the three locations that had it. It conveniently overwrote itself 'cause the two detectives went on furlough and nobody did anything.

How much time did Mike Mette get for punching that asshole in Iowa? Didn't even die.
Who really gives a shit? Haven't we all known for many years that anyone connected to the Daley family will be taken care of? Why does this surprise anybody?
Instead of screaming phony outrage, try getting off your asses and voting against the motherfuckers come election day. Most police do not vote and most voters, except the 11th and 19th ward, do not go to vote so we only have ourselves to blame.
Vermin like Daley and Madigan and Cullerton and Rahm Emanuel get elected over and over and we scream bloody murder. We don't bother to vote but oh man can we scream.
Bullshit.
Scream with your vote, that can be heard quite well. They know how to win elections, they know what is necessary. We do not know how to vote somebody good in, in fact, no one decent would bother to throw their career down the toilet by going against these scumbags. They know they can't win.

I don't know about the odds but the probability is 100%.
Put him in Cook County Gen Pop.
He will be fine.
He is a fine Democrat from an upstanding Democratic Family.
The inmates in Cook County Jail are almost All Democrats. If not all. They will get along.
When Vanecko hit the little kid he was a bully.
Not doing his time in Cook County like every other Mutt makes him a Clout Baby, and a Huge Pu---.
AMEN 4:39 WHEN THE fED INDICMENTS COME DOWN THROUGH THE fLINT tAYLOR OFFICE,and they will come down the coppers who bit the bullet to kiss Daleys ass will be hung out to dry and he and the bosses wont know them, just like Blago who had petioners knocking on his door to get favors for their kids but dissappered the day the Feds showed up,face it,your dealing with whores...the Feds are already asking around to build a civil rights violation under color of law and any dick who stuck his neck out is going to get chopped....
Richie Daley made a deal with the Feds a long time ago. Richie was force-fed JFed, told to not run in last mayoral election so Rahm could win, and Patrick never went to prison for his shady deals.
He should go to stateville.
Dear 2/15/2014 04:39:00 PM
No, you are the soft one. Apparently you can’t comprehend what you read. I never addressed the 2011 re-investigation wherein, as you say, “the fucking dicks gave Vanecko a defense without ever getting him on the record” (by the way, in case you are unaware, you can’t get anyone on the record when their attorney says he’s not going to talk to you). Nor did I mention, again as you said, “the convicted lieutenant, the clouted Andrews, and so on” who were part of the 2011 investigation.
Further your complaint about the line-up is ridiculous. They should have taught you in the Academy that the point is to make the line-up participants similar enough so that the witnesses identify the subject by facial recognition (please refer to Case Law and the Rules of Evidence). An identification made because “it was the big guy” won’t fly. Every witness must be 100% positive the person they identify is the offender because they recognize him. Not because he is bigger, fatter, thinner, wore a red hat, or a pink tu-tu.
The detective did what he did. Did he do everything he could? I don’t know. Nor do you. But he asked for charges, even without getting an ID and without a statement from the suspect because his lawyer told him not to talk. You say he did “so little that O'Brien could justifiably then say no charges”. I find it suspicious that you are so quick to defend the State’s Attorney. Are you really a copper or a spy lurking here?
Were mistakes made? Sure. I already said that. But certainly no provable evidence was found of any criminal activity. That was my point.
I believe you are only so agitated and indignant about this case because Vanecko, a Daley relative, was involved. And that, sir or madam, is what is pathetic.
Once he's sentenced, he can be moved to any jail in illinois. If it was a fed charge like cozzi, he can be mov ed anywhere in the usa

**********************************
Ok, lets see if we can get people to understand this fiasco. He was NOT tried in McHenry County. He was tried in Cook County, Rolling Meadows court by a McHenry County Judge. County Jails are NOT controlled by IDOC. The county jails are holding facilities from which prisoners are distributed into the IDOC system. A judge can assign a convicted criminal to any county jail that he/she wants. He could have been sent to IDOC, but I'd guess that since he is only going to serve 30-45 days, it's not worth the time and effort to ship him around, evaluate him and assign him. Plus he's connected, plus IDOC doesn't want his ass. Too much media nosing around. Plus he's connected and the Judge gave him a break.
Plus he's connected.
Actually 1:05, the detective who ended up with the original investigation provided that testimony to a grand jury. That intentional flubbing of the investigation is more than enough to warrant a civil rights charge at the DOJ.
Then there is the leaving the investigation open for 6+ years, though every level of supervisor above the detective was aware of it? Same.
The lineup? Providing the worst context for what the witnesses described? That's not in Rules of Evidence or "Case Law", lol. Care to cite any particular case at the state or Federal level that would support this nonsense?
Can't help but think you were involved in the original investigation. Nobody without an interest would provide the distortions and misinformation we only read in rare comments here. Hope it was worth it for you in the end.
To 8:43
Again, you seem to fail to understand what you read. That is, if you read Webb’s report at all. You state the detective testified he intentionally flubbed the investigation (“That intentional flubbing of the investigation”. Read the report. He Admitted to no criminal behavior nor that he intentionally flubbed it. Webb further cites in his report it was ”intent” that he could not prove in nearly all aspects of the case.
The line up? Again you don’t seem to comprehend that the correct procedure is to make each subject as similar as possible, not so different as to make any single one stand out…no matter what the witnesses said. I have provided you with a few sources to help you understand.
Eyewitness Evidence, A Guide For Law Enforcement, United States Department of Justice (Oct. 1999)
UNITED STATES v. WADE, 388 U.S. 218 (1967)
People v. Shields, 70 Cal. App. 2d 628, (1945)
People v. Hicks, 22 Ill. 2d 364, 176 N. E. 2d 810 (1961)
State v. Hill, 193 Kan. 512, 394 P.2d 106 (1964)
Please read the above, including Webb’s report, instead of getting your information from the various media outlets wherein the real lies and distortions are chronicled.
(Also please check the federal statute of limitations for civil rights cases. You may find that interesting as well.)
One more thing 8:43, there are hundreds of open homicide investigations sitting out there. Many with named offenders. Sitting for years and years, just in this city. And all the supervisors, the DOJ and everyone else knows about it. It's not against the law. Where do you think CCX's come from? Just because an offender is named does not mean there is enough to charge him/her thus the investigation remains open until CCX'd. Many times years and years later.
Now, I'm tired of trying to educate you in the basics of law enforcement. Pick up a book sometime.
What you just did was bactktrack. He did admit to flubbing it by passing it to states attorney ASAP with so little that the states attorney could pass. Not criminal intent, but it's 100% a civil rights violation. He/you hung himself/yourself.
As similar to each other? That's not what happened my friend. Already of record.
Good luck with the Feds. You will need it.
and one more thing for you my friend. You might want to read those cases you cited, because they don't stand in any way for what you suggest.
In fact, WADE was overruled long ago.
So which is it, are you one of the original fucked-up detectives or someone in the chain, O'Brien or one of the other incompetent State's Attorneys, or one of the city lawyers on the hook for this?
Good luck with the Feds again buddy.
To 9:19
Explain how asking the ASA for charges is “100% a civil rights violation”. You claim he did almost no investigation before handing it over for charges. Nowhere is that stated. He never said that. He did his investigation and asked for charges. Further, brainiac, civil rights violations also require intent. Where is the intent? Do you know anything about the law?
“As similar to each other? That's not what happened my friend. Already of record.” Please cite the “record”. The validity of the line up was never questioned by Webb or anyone else.
Do your homework and read Webb’s report and stop embarrassing yourself with your ignorance of the facts.
And no, I’m not worried. I was not a part of the investigation. But those who were don’t need to worry either. As you should know, if you bothered to look up the federal statute of limitations, it applies to civil rights violations (if there ever were any) from 2004.
SOS officers did their time in a suburban county jail. Maybe they should have done their time in Cook County
