The off-duty sheriff is one cool customer, confronted by three and distracting them by fumbling for his wallet before drawing and shooting the gunman. This video should forestall any sort of claims of innocence by the family - this was clearly a stick up, the deceased clearly pointed a gun at the sheriff a few times, and the sheriff was clearly acting lawfully within the scope of a life threatening situation.

Now I'd like to address the darker side of Tom Dart and his 168 directors that run the sheriffs dept. According to The Sergeant who was involved in this shooting He violated the General Order that Tom Dart signed off in Dec 2013. The General Order states that any Sworn Staff must notify the Emergency Call Center within 5 minutes after any Major Incident.Tom why don't you tell us about the Officer that had his jaw and nose broken by a inmate last week and your elite Directors didn't care about the Officer. But wanted to know why the Emergency Call Center Wasn't notified within 5 minutes from the time of incident. Tom Dart why is it that every time you get on Television you look like you haven't ran a brush thur you hair in a year. Tom Dart maybe you should read the hair grooming General Order.

Between all the candidates I've only seen one clearly state what issue's they're going to pursue for us. The Angelo team put it on record. Everybody else is advertising who they are and not what they're going to try to accomplish.

I give credit to the mother, so far she has not "proclaimed" that her son was about to turn his life around or any of that other stuff. Deputy Wright, a Lt in Court Services was assigned to Maybrook Courts. She also worked in Deputy Training. A female of color, 40 of age and as stated in the original post-absolutely NO POLICE EXPERIENCE and NOT A POLICE OFFICER but Dart appoints her as 1st Deputy Chief of Police of the COOK COUNTY SHERIFF"S POLICE DEPARTMENT.
Salary-$140k a year. Plus a car. Plus, plus plus...
And here we thought we had things bad in Chi-town.

In spite of how much Liberals and Chicago politicians would like to brainwash us, citizens have a right to arm themselves so as to protect themselves from situations like this.
While it is unlikely that the average Joe could navigate the encounter as adeptly as this officer, that doesn't mean Joe citizen doesn't have the right or is totally incapable of protecting themselves, when carrying.
I suggest this one instance, in addition to the impending CCW of scores of citizens, is going to go a very, long way to put a hurt on the criminal element.
Carrying does not make one as capable as this fine citizen/officer, but where a large number of law-abiding citizens are carrying, many well trained by practice (in some cases more then many officers) exceeding that of many assailants, the consequences for being a give-me-your-stuff kind of guy under gunpoint is going to increase by a big factor.
There will be exceptions to this, but let there be no doubt, there will be more instances of the greater good of Joe citizen packing then there will be what we have had and that is the criminal having open season on good people.

This is the lesson EVERYONE should walk away with. You have a gun, you have a chance.
Anyone denying you that chance should NOT be in office, nor on ANY legal body like the State's Attorney's Office.

So you would rather have someone with police experience treat you like trash than someone w/o it treat you good? Did all those lawyers he hired brainwash you? It would be great if we could all come together and stop this sniping. But we are what we vote in. My point with the past two incidents is that it doesn't matter the level of training. A good LEO is good no matter where they are in the department. All three divisions have their slugs and this thing with the merit board isn't anything that can't be changed by calling you're elected representatives.
It's a terrible call to have to make, but when your life is in jeopardy, it's the right one. Looking forward to the day (30, 60, 90, or 120 days from now) when us decent civilians are grudgingly promoted to worthy of defending ourselves by our bodyguarded politicians.
I predict many more unfortunate but necessary scenes like this, and approximately zero "old west shootouts" by "trigger-happy" citizens. LEOs, if you don't already, please know that a vast majority of us CCWers are taking this very seriously.
