Cook County Officer Shooting
- An off-duty Cook County Sheriff’s sergeant shot and killed a man who tried to rob him Monday night at a Far South Side gas station, police said.
The shooting happened shortly before 10 p.m. on the 700 block of East 103rd Street in the Pullman neighborhood, officials said.
The sergeant stopped on his way home at a Citgo station on 103rd Street and Cottage Grove Avenue across the street from Gately stadium and was approached by as many as three men, a law enforcement source said, citing preliminary information.
Police News Affairs Officer [...] said the robbers had demanded the sergeant’s wallet. But when the sergeant complied, the armed robber pointed his gun in the sergeant's direction. In response, the sergeant shot the robber in the head, said [News Affairs], citing preliminary information.
That robber's gun was found at the scene and the off-duty sergeant was not hurt. Chicago police are trying to find the other suspects, who fled the scene.
Sounds like they ought to give the sergeant another crack at the rest of them. Nice shooting sir.

Wonder how it feels to be the parent of the P.O.S. that got blown away? I mean, it's right there on video, for the whole world to see. The child that you raised, pointed a gun at a man, and left that man no choice but to defend his own life. As the parent, you can't stand in front of cameras and cry that the shooting was unjustified. You can't claim that your "child" was "Trying to get his life together". Because the video tells the truth about your child. That was the child that you raised. His being dead is only his and certainly a lot of your fault. The reality is, the world is better minus your child. And I say "Good Riddance!"

The judge ruled he didn't get his letter in on time and asked how did it feel. Morion denied. Shields blamed Dougherty, Aguilar, Davis, Dimaria and Caparelli. Judge said NEXT.

I worked for and with this man for many years in the old 015th District, and we were both Captains in 011th District. He was a fair man and looked out for his Watch and anyone else who came into the District. You could "talk" to him and he would do his best to make things right. My sympathy to his Wife and Family. He will be missed.

Any off duty PO that works in a place that does not allow concealed carry should find another place to work. The owner will allow himself to be protected by an armed police officer but Joe citizen can't come in with his own protection? If the guy that runs the place doesn't want law abiding people carring guns in his place, thats his choice. maybe his view will change when a crook comes in with HIS gun and sticks the place up. The video is not "blurred". It's separate videos from different cameras being "mixed" together.
I do love it when video helps a cop or helps solve a crime. This video should preclude any lawsuits from the family of the dearly departed.

The guy on the left appears to have some sort of large cartoon-like Simpsons, Betty Boop like figure on the back of his jacket.
The other guy going through the front seat of the car has a really good profile of his face revealed from underneath the hoodie evidently after the first gun shot.
Rahm...take some of that TIF money and announce a $50K reward for information leading to the arrest of the other two.
Somebody knows who they are and there appears to be enough to identify them on that tape.
