FOP Ballots on the Way

According to the newsletter at least, ballots ought to be arriving by the 11th.

The different slates have been overly active in our comment section and we've clamped down a bit on the slanderous accusations and nonsense posting, the biggest of which was the 16% issue. Shortshanks pulled the 16% offer long before it would have been offered for a vote and the extra stuff 'Shanks wanted was intolerable. Give it a rest.

While we have refrained from endorsing a ticket or slate, we cannot let it be that this regime, from the top down, has been a source of constant disappointment. The infighting, the poor decision making, the lack of a cohesive voice, the constant bickering, backbiting and backsliding, the supposedly "tactical" decision to let the disgraced former president drag the entire organization into disrepute is intolerable.

For this reason, we will not be voting for a single office holder who is listed on the inside cover of the current FOP book, including the Trustees and Past President. Their efforts to keep their jobs rather that do their jobs, in our eyes, makes them unqualified to represent the rank-and-file of the Department.

When questions were asked, they were uncommunicative.

When confidence was lacking in the job being done, they were invisible.

And when we provided a more visible platform for people to air their concerns, we were asked to remove a post lest it embarrass the then-First VP (now acting president) and we were threatened with a lawsuit to shut us down by a lawyer whose behavior was something the FOP should have distanced themselves from years ago.

Again, we make no endorsements and encourage no one to follow our lead. We encourage everyone to do a bit of research, ask a lot of questions, and stay involved by voting. You're welcome to disagree with us - politely - and vote the way you want. We don't owe anyone a platform to rip us for the way we're going to vote and we aren't going to be a punching bag for the vitriol sure to be spouted our way, much of it from IP addresses we know are from Washington Blvd.

Most are barely able to get promoted let alone handle millions dollar contract and lawsuit.

I really don't care what high school they went to or if their daddys was a beat officer back in the day.

Please someone give me hope that of all these hacks a few can handle running a business.

And it is a business.

Stop paying these people six figure salaries. It distances them from where they came from. If they work their current pay grade, they will do the job. The benefit is that they are off the street and doing the work for the membership.

There are 101 candidates running for FOP office.

Of those 101 there are 9 (yes only nine) that are independents not associated with one of the 4 teams or the board.

These are the watchdogs that can hold other accountable. Vote for these 9 and then vote for whatever team you like. Only at that time will there be adequate checks and balances.

Dougherty has taken the wrong path on every major decision for the 5 or 6 months. I blame Donahue for a lot of bad advice. 12 years is long enough I guess.

The fact that only about 110 people were qualified to run for office is a shame. A bigger shame is that many people became backstabbers in the last year. Shields was way too young for the job. He should have just stayed at the pension board for another 6 years before he decided to run.

You have to trust your partner and those you work with to back you up. How many of those on today's board do you trust to have your back? I my mind there are less than six people who fit that bill. Choose wisely. I just don't see me voting for anyone on the Citywide team.

Please don't screw this up before 15 Nov !

I received a letter from the Pension Watchdog Team. Seems like they have aligned themselves with Dean Angelo. But, the interesting part is that most of the guys on this team ran with Mike Shields including his brother Dan. These are the board members that allowed Mike Shields to destroy our union. I work in 018 and Dan Shields has told people his brother Mike is coming back. Is Dean Angelo bringing Mike back into the office. Think twice everyone when those ballots come out. Why are the Shields boys hooking up with Dean?

We do not have a union, we do have a bargaining agent. They are two different organizations and are handled differently. The only time we are allowed to bring in an actual union is between contracts. Many other police departments have brought in outside unions and it worked. This option almost never comes up. Could it work for CPD?

I'm still trying to understand why/how being forced off the job due to work related injuries and having to go on disability make you a bad guy. I am currently going through a situation that I am not sure I will be able to return from that has required two surgeries and likely a third, but if it comes to not being able to return, I should suck it up and retire and pay my own insurance out of pocket and settle for a reduced pension ? Quit the b.s., I have paid my dues and busted my ass on this job. I am going to therapy 4 days a week with an O.T. & P.T. And doing some additional work on my own with the hope of coming by this summer, but if it isn't too be then disability is my right. I have nothing to be ashamed of

I have to say I couldn't agree with SCC less on this one. There are several people to blame for a lot of the things that have happened are FOP, but they can all be linked to Mike Shields and his consistently blind followers.

Eliminating the most experienced people puts us right back in the same situation we were at when Shields was running the ship. We cannot let that happen again.

I think you are being unfair to make a blanket statement about every officer on the current board. But then again it is your website.

Why not take a look and see who ALL past board members are that are running?

The Fop ways of doing business and their missed steps did not just start under the MS regime. It has been going on for a long long time.

Carlos, Tom Mc, Dean and Bill D have all served on past boards at different capacities. Who should be president now?

SCC.

Was thinking the exact same thing. Anyone who allows tet same people who have been collecting a check at FOP and allowed the shannanigans with Sheilds doesn't deserve a single vote, save by themselves.

Voting has consequences and we have been witnesses to what a poor vote Sheilds and his staff was for the past few years.

That said...MAKE SURE YOU VOTE!!! So many refuse to send in ballots and that allows incumbents to win by default.

SCC, the only reason that I post about the 16% is that the difference between 16% and ten is 6% which is more than 2%. Therefore Donahue cost me more than Shields. Donahue and Dougherty did terrible job in endorsing anyone. All their people voted to take many peoples hard earned pensions away, whether it be new guy, active or retired members. I am confident they would have sold us all out also. That is their record. But that said I agree with your assessment about who to vote for...Send Out the Clowns.

The Citywide Team can not have it both ways. They ran WITH Shields and are responsible for his silliness. Dougherty has been overpaid by this Union for over ten years. Enough already!

As for Angelo, does he look like someone who was "disabled" for the last ten years? A scammer through and through.

Vote for everyone new and they at least will be fighting for the police and not just to keep their jobs and D8 and above paychecks.

Couldn't agree more SCC. The problem is there is very slim pickings to vote for someone who has the CPD membership's best interests instead of lining their own pockets.

I won't vote for any current FOP officeholder, but some of the alternatives aren't any better IMO.

Does anyone really believe that Dean Angelo has the memberships best interests at heart? With Angelo, jr and Det. Mike d'Andrea on that ticket - NO WAY. Can't trust them as far as you can throw that crew, IMO.

Doesn't anyone remember that the current administration came from two separate factions. Shields team and Bella's. The reason there wasn't harmony was because the guys with the experience were NEVER listened to. Dougherty is by far the most capable and experienced candidate running for president. This is evidenced by the fact that things have only begun to run smoothly since he was given the interim tag. If he doesn't get elected everyone can expect three more years of BS which is just what Rahm would love to see. Think seriously about this.

That means 80% of our guys opinions don't mean shit to the FOP anyway, because they know you won't vote and unfortunately in my opinion like other politicians it seems that's all anyone cares about over there. I for one think it is more important than ever to elect those who have experience running a union. Putting an inexperienced bunch in office is EXACTLY what the city and the mayor wants. Not only will contract negotiations be negatively affected if an inexperienced group gets elected but also the pension fight. Are you kidding? The sad and sick part of all of this is they only care about the money. The salary they get is outragous! They get huge perks also. There is no reason for such a salary. It causes danger for the members. Think about this....If our board members were only allowed to keep the salary as a P.O. or detective before they were elected would they still want to run for election? Money causes selfish decision making. It's kinda similar to what merit does to police officers.

You are so right brother. NEVER listen to the commenters on blogs like this. Most are people that nobody listens to in the first place. What idiot would say you don't have a right to disability? If you get shot or whatever, your not supposed to get what's due to you? Yea, those guys are idiots. Most likely not even the police anyway. Just a troll.

Here is how I see it from a concerned voter. The city wide team is a joke you have Billy Dougherty who is just as much or even more to blame for the state of the union because he purposely made Shields look bad for his own gain. Dimaria and Aguilar are both retiring so why would they run for a seat that they are relinquishing in a few months. Also they have Nenad Markovich on there ticket who has single handling jackpotted more coppers with his bullshit than anyone ever has on this department. Then there is Mark Donahue who is collecting his pension, $85,000 a year as the FOP lobbyist and know he wants more so he is running for trustee, sorry Mark its time to retire and stop lining your pockets from the FOP.

I for one think it is more important than ever to elect those who have experience running a union. Putting an inexperienced bunch in office is EXACTLY what the city and the mayor wants. Not only will contract negotiations be negatively affected if an inexperienced group gets elected but also the pension fight. Are you kidding? You have to either have some clout hanging in the balance or be crazy not to vote for City Wide at this point.

Please don't forget to vote out anyone who is or was part of the old regime including but certainly not limited to Kevin Graham. Ask anyone from the old 023rd District who in the past has asked him for advice or help. He'd either direct you to the FOP or give you faulty advice. Now he's all smiles, schmoozing everyone he sees and and making nice nice. How he was elected unit rep over Donny Eichler no one except KG AND the FOP know. Donny told several people that he was not allowed to be present when the votes were counted. Go figure.

2/10/2014 11:42:00 AM

Somebody fucked Donny. I ran for unit rep of old 019 and I was standing right there when they counted the votes, there was no other way. No chance they count the votes in secret. Should have had the purple thing on their finger too like in Iraq.

So the same suggestion applies for voting for FOP as for Cook County Judges:
VOTE AGAINST ALL INCUMBENTS Yes a wide brush but it's needed.

Then at the first meeting propose that the board members get paid NO HIGHER then LT pay. For the good of the order.

2/10/2014 05:41:00 AM
Great mentality. Just like the people who are calling for a sweep of the entire FOP Board. There are some very good judges who are on our side. Should we forget all the good decisions they have made on our behalf? Voting everyone out is the lazy man's way of saying I want change but don't want to do the work to make sure it's effective change. Everyone voted for change last FOP election, bought the bullshit hook, line and sinker and all that got us was a Shields Team that was inexperienced and controlled the board with their votes and every decision that was made. Their inexperience will last a lifetime effecting your wages until the day you die.

Dan Shields was the only Board member in his first motion with the "new Board" April 2011 to vote take away the monthly upstairs stipend of $600. Every Board member voted against this just check the April 2011 Board minutes. So don't be so quick to judge to a guy looking out to save the membership big money Do the math $600 a month for every upstairs position !
M.Shields, B Dougherty FDimaria DGorman RAguilar SDavis JMcCarthy SDelrivero JCapperelli $600 a month for 3 years would be a three year savings of $21,600 per guy x 9= $194,400. But let's see the motion failed because Dan was the only person who voted for this!

I really get the sense that anyone who comments that they're gonna vote everyone in the FOP book out either has connections to one of the other teams that are running or just are one of those change for change's sake types. Either way, what I am hearing from the majority of people is that most of the City Wide candidates have done great work for the rank and file. Everyone I talk to about Doughterty says great things about his service in a variety of positions. Same goes for Di Maria and Aguilar. Nobody I talk to believes that these guys had anything to do with the "letter", instead it's pretty clear their hands were tied. Don't listen to some of these rants about cleaning house. Do you what I've done: do your homework and find the truth.

If any of the current leadership at FOP remain, we only have ourselves to blame. They don't hold themselves accountable for anything. The Citywide team is scrambling and pointing fingers at everyone, but themselves. They have been caught in too many lies. The overall consensus seems that anyone currently in office will be gone, only time will tell. Let's just hope everyone votes, not just 3-4000 active members this time.

2/10/2014 09:20:00 AM
How can they point at themselves?? Shields and his band of 16 faithful controlled every board decision. They determined the direction of this union and aided Shields in his skulduggery. Look at the scorecards (roll call votes) and you will see who is responsible for turning our union into a personal gratification, personal gain machine.

Meet the Shields Team, the 16 Individuals who controlled the FOP Board and consistently voted with Mike Shields. Shields motivation was purely political and for personal gain. These board members were controlled by Shields and enabled him to run our union into the ground. Their blind loyalty elevated him to the dictator he became, believing he could do whatever he wanted, whenever he wanted. These same individuals voted not guilty after he admitted he did not send the retro letter in on time. The charges spoke for themselves. The charges that they found him NOT GUILTY of had to be sent to the state fop because the Shields 16 could not do their jobs and represent the best interest of the members. Please remember these names when casting your ballots.
President Michael K. Shields
3rd VP Danny Gorman
Sergeant at Arms William Burns
Sergeant at Arms Daniel J. Shields

This was the departments position to force him off the Job. I know for a fact he fought to stay on and asked to be carried light duty. B. Hammerlings and the departments position was if he couldn't come back full duty at some point, then he was done. He had no problem staying on the job in the capacity he was in, butHe was told to either retire or resign, light duty was not an option he was given

May I remind us that we are all brothers and sisters ! Its ok to have healthy dialogue but the personal attacks are really not something we need.
If you do not like a certain candidate or slate , do not vote for them. Ive got an informed decision because I take the time to read bios and listen when folks come out to roll calls. The major slates have some good people on them and its unfair to count them out just because they are running with people who have been in office. There is a lot of mis-information being put out there to try and sway voters. This election is very important since the city will be looking at how many members vote and actually care about what is going on with their union and their job. At the end of the day it is very possible that people will be elected from various slates and maybe independents as well. They have to come together with a common goal of our memberships interests in mind.

I have never voted and never will, and I dont complain about what happens. I took this job knowing it was corrupt, I also knew as long as I didnt screw up I would have a good paying job with decent benefits, for a high school graduate. No matter who you decide to vote in, hopefully they actually deserve the position but it still does not matter because we will get what Rahm or any politician wants to give us, and that it is all. you should be more concerned about making what you get, to work for you and your family. Also you should try and figure out a better end game then our pension system. Odds are it will not be there at least not as it is design right now. it obviously isnt our fault but there is nothing our F.O.P. or any union can do about it. So you can say im stupid for not voting but I have secured my future, pension or not, and if I thought anybody could actually do something I might consider voting for them, be safe, help the real victims and back up your fellow officers. Excuse the grammar like I said Im only a H.S. graduate.

My suggestion is ANY negative post regarding any group or individual be taken down or not posted to begin with. Everyone has an opinion and that's why we get a ballot. Act like an adult and use your opinion to cast a VOTE. Only 20 something percent of actives voted last election. That means 80% of our guys opinions don't mean shit to the FOP anyway, because they know you won't vote and unfortunately in my opinion like other politicians it seems that's all anyone cares about over there. I'm going to look into each candidate as much as possible and vote for who I feel is the best choice for all of us as a group. I left my name because I hate anonymous posts

Can anyone explain why Dean Angelo is running for President, he walks unassisted able to shoot, full time professor, and when he was in the FOP years ago ask him again about the use of our credit cards and the parties that we paid for. When he asks if there are any questions please ask some of the above. I think a person who is able to work a full time job should be able to handle something on the job. Shameful that this money he is accepting is coming out of our pockets and depleting our pension fund.

One group of Shields supporters is the supposedly independent pension watchdog group who is now supporting none other than Dean Angelo. This should speak volumes to you if you have half a brain.

I call BS, Mike Shields isn't even running. I work in 018 also and have not heard that said once.

Shields

The full Rutherford sexual harrassment allegations have been made public and is all over the media. Whether the allegations are true or not, his career is toast. Its disheartening since I thought he had a lot of good things to say at the V.F.W. meeting and he could have helped us out a lot if he got elected.

The City Wide team was left in place by Shields, after he was elected. Daugherty, Aguilar , and the rest, worked against Shields from day 1. Shields screwed up big time, by not sending the letter, but any of the VP's could have sent it. The letter only became an issue, when the elections came around. The trustees were never told by the Daugherty gang about the letter. They found out, when everyone else did. Don't vote for city wide.

Look at the scorecards (roll call votes) and you will see who is responsible for turning our union into a personal gratification, personal gain machine
Bill Dougherty is, that's who. Bills Greed and lust for Power is what has got us into this mess, Shields messed up on the letter but according to the City wide shills posting here he did everything but Kill Cock Robin.
Dougherty set up Shields and shields was dumb enough to be duped by him. As few as 5 months ago Shields was still believing that Dougherty was running with him and Shield agreed to dump DeiMaria for Bills little buddy, Jim Bailey. How were you going to run on Shields ticket Bill a year after the "letter" incident. Give me a break. You should have signed the "letter" when Shields secretary handed it to you a day before the deadline. But that would have only served the membership, not your Presidential Asperations. And to all the Mensa Members posting that FOP Salaries are Pensionable, call the Pension Board and you will find out you are wrong.Stalin said, "tell the lie often enough and it becomes the truth", aparently Dougherty's Mentor.

Dean Angelo has never held an Executive position, so he would be great for President.
True, he never was elected to the first 5 spots but he was part of the Dineen, Nolan camps for years as a trustee. Which means he voted at board meetings.

In regards to disability, his is legit, not to mention he has over 30 years on the job in patrol positions.
30 years in patrol? When did he go on disability? Why disability and not a pension? He has still been raping this dept in one way or another for at least 10 years of disability from the pension fund.

His team is pretty much fresh, intelligent and down to earth .
How fresh is his son, who was part of the Shields team.
R. Casiano - has been at the Academy Range for the past 10 years at least.
Tom Lonergan - although retired, had spent the better part of his career at the Academy. At least 20 years that I know of working at the Academy and then in the Ct. Section when dumped from Academy.
Ron Shogren - this statement from their website says it all: "Ron has been elected a Trustee numerous times since 1980 and continues to serve as a Trustee"
Shogren has made a career working at the FOP.
Dan Trevino - here's another that has made a career out of being a trustee or a career committee member (committee members get $50 for each meeting they attend)

His team only has the membership in mind.
His team is cutting back all office salaries by at least 30%!!!
Really? So, the girls that work in the office are getting a pay cut but not the executive board?

They are starting a medical fund to help officers in need.
With whose $$$$$$
Isn't this what the Police Memorial Foundation does already?

replacing the same arbitrator we always get stuck with!!!!
How they gonna do that? Aren't arbitrators assigned from a pool available?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
What the original poster is asking is, if Angelo was light duty (Before the current 365 rule established in 2012)
why couldn't he have worked at Call Back, or in another limited duty position.
And that is a valid question.
There was a time that the dept was not putting people into light duty spots and forcing them onto disability (if the pension bd would approve)
I don't know Angelo's medical condition that he went disability for, so I can't and won't comment on that. I don't know if he was one to be forced to disability or not.
NO ONE is saying the desk at the FOP (meaning P.S.'s job)
That poster was saying the desk at the FOP meaning The Big Desk - The President's position.
How come D.A. can work his side job at Cal College or sit at the President of the FOP desk and not have worked limited duty on the job.
Thanks for your input BIll D.
and oh Noooo your not anti-retiree ? The retirees hate you and your anti- retiree stance as well as anyone else who can see beyond the nose on their face. I predict Dougherty wont get 25% of the vote. Every District I go to coppers are talking him down. He is in panic mode.
Shields was right, it's all fixed. The FOP and city have always been in bed with each other.
Anyone who thinks that at least the Sergeants Contract was a "negotiated arbitration" ( fixed ) hasn't got a brain cell working.
Dean Angelo has never held an Executive position, so he would be great for President. In regards to disability, his is legit, not to mention he has over 30 years on the job in patrol positions. His team is pretty much fresh, intelligent and down to earth . His team only has the membership in mind. His team is cutting back all office salaries by at least 30%!!! They are starting a medical fund to help officers in need. They have a good mix of patrol, D2 and retirees. Alot of fresh faces and diversity!! All the old executives should go and enjoy their retirement. We need a fresh start, and Dean Angelo is the way to fight back. Get radical with Rahm and McCarthy. I have 26 years on and have had enough of the same executives just switching executive positions. Once again, Angelo's team has mandated they will cut salaries at least 30% across the board and start a new medical fund to help P/O's in need!!! They have also mentioned self insuring our members and replacing the same arbitrator we always get stuck with!!!!
2/11/2014 01:10:00 AM
I got their information in the mail today. I was thinking I'm going to vote for them. I don't see any other viable candidates in the mix anyway. If they even follow up on half of their promises they'll be better than the what we've had the last 15 years.
You can pan City Wide as much as you want. It won't change the fact that they are 1) the most experienced, 2) the most qualified, 3) the best prepared to protect the interests of the rank and file against the mayor and all those that long to see the ruin of the public employee. To be honest, I wonder how many of the anti-City Wide comments come directly from the mouths of the Mayor and his people. Shame on you for trying to ruin. Vote City wide people.
If any of the current leadership at FOP remain, we only have ourselves to blame. They don't hold themselves accountable for anything. The Citywide team is scrambling and pointing fingers at everyone, but themselves. They have been caught in too many lies. The overall consensus seems that anyone currently in office will be gone, only time will tell. Let's just hope everyone votes, not just 3-4000 active members this time.
2/10/2014 09:20:00 AM
How can they point at themselves?? Shields and his band of 16 faithful controlled every board decision. They determined the direction of this union and aided Shields in his skulduggery. Look at the scorecards (roll call votes) and you will see who is responsible for turning our union into a personal gratification, personal gain machine
Bill Dougherty is, that's who. Bills Greed and lust for Power is what has got us into this mess, Shields messed up on the letter but according to the City wide shills posting here he did everything but Kill Cock Robin.
Dougherty set up Shields and shields was dumb enough to be duped by him. As few as 5 months ago Shields was still believing that Dougherty was running with him and Shield agreed to dump DeiMaria for Bills little buddy, Jim Bailey. How were you going to run on Shields ticket Bill a year after the "letter" incident. Give me a break. You should have signed the "letter" when Shields secretary handed it to you a day before the deadline. But that would have only served the membership, not your Presidential Asperations. And to all the Mensa Members posting that FOP Salaries are Pensionable, call the Pension Board and you will find out you are wrong.Stalin said, "tell the lie often enough and it becomes the truth", aparently Dougherty's Mentor.
2/10/2014 11:38:00 PM
The pot calling the kettle black. Isn't that how mike got elected? Transparency, 80% pension after 20 years, all bullshit Stalin. Nice try but you can't dispute the fact that your brother Mike told the membership at a general meeting that he would send the letter and its printed in the minutes. So why would anyone doubt the President of the FOP would not keep his word? Why would anyone knowingly take money from their own pocket? How about stop making excuses for the one who admitted it was his fault and let the blame lie where it should, squarely on his shoulders and those 15 board members who propped him up and made him believe he was larger than life and the FOP. Called Carolyn and asked her if there was any truth to the fact that she tendered a letter to Dougherty to sign and she said that is an outright lie, the only person I gave a letter to was Mike and he never signed it. I nagged him every day about it and he rewarded me by firing me. Nice try thou Mr. Axelrod keep the spin machine in high gear, you obviously have no regard for the members of the FOP.
Please SCC. Many of us are looking for direction. This is too important for you to just sit it out. Post some recommendations, and let the discussion begin. The people we elect will have to deal with the most important decisions this union will ever have to make. Please reconsider.
2/10/2014 11:53:00 PM
Go back to the original topic. Re-read it slowly. SCC has already GIVEN some direction, but you failed to pay attention.
Big deal that Angelo has gone to every district. He is on disability and apparently has a lot, and I mean a lot of time on his hands. Anyone that thinks a guy that has been away on disability all this time and now is the answer to anything is a goof. This pension scammer and his merry band of misfits have been spewing nonsense this whole time. Saving money by eliminating positions? You have to eliminate the field rep spots dummy. This is a guy that has never written a report on a computer and he's the answer? No way folks. We need someone that is working now and concerned with the working guy and gal. This Angelo is all about himself and nothing more.
2/11/2014 03:36:00 PM
Exactly, You would have to eliminate Field Rep. positions. If you went to the September meeting, Angelo made a motion to eliminate two positions. Your executive board dragged the meeting out for three hours so persons who attended had to leave. Even with that your executive board ended the meeting when the room was split, to get a head count on a vote.
Dougherty was elected despite Shields election. Dougherty tried to help Shields run the Lodge but when he was unable to Dougherty fought against Shields while Shields was in office. Shields threw him out on his ass. Shields gets removed and on the day before the ballots goes out Shields files an emergency motion to stop the election. This could have dragged the election out for at least a year. Once again, Dougherty fought Shields on this. Dougherty could have let the lawsuit play out and continued to sit in the presidents chair and collect a check. But he didn't. He fought Shields and won once again. If anyone out there actually thinks that Dougherty and City Wide ran with Shields in the last election, or that Shields didn't try to keep Shields on the up and up, or that anyone other than Angelo or McDonagh's people are posting this kind of BS, your head is farther up your ass than Shields' was.
Hey dummy, he tried to eliminate elected positions not field rep positions. That would not eliminate any money as the president can appoint anyone a field rep position. Those positions are separate from the elected positions. Angelo is a big fake and has absolutely no business running our union after scamming the pension all those years.
Right, get the active members to vote. It will be opening day of baseball season and the ballot will still be sitting, unopened, on most active PO's kitchen table. Most don't vote. Less than 50%. Retirees vote in overwhelming numbers.
You change that and I will kiss your ass in front of 1412 W Washington. Won't happen. I already have spoken to many active PO's who said they will not bother to vote. I believe them.
Ag-u-liar just retire and go away and take DiMaria with you. You guys let all of us down in an attempt to sink Shields which he would have done on his own without your help. But you had to screw all of us to get him out. If you guys would have done the right thing you could have beat Shields without costing us our retro for 2012.
Now you feel the need to attack Angelo? You guys have proven yourselves to be low life's.
How do you goofs justify that kind of money?
Notice the Dean Angelo haters are knocking disability, why? They have nothing constructive to say. All the talk about the past stains everybody, more so the citywide team. Dean Angelo has no connection to little boy shields, citywide is making everything up on these posts, they are the people who have been receiving huge pay checks for at least the past 6 years. Lets get real.
As I sit here with my ballot after some reflection I realized that in the last election voting for someone with absolutely NO FOP experience was really a bad idea (ie the letter). I also question any candidate who during the last term did not speak up and inform the membership of the errors and conflicts occurring. If they had concerns as they now claim, they should have informed the membershp. I know many members are facing the same ballot decisions I am. After much thought I am and would advise all the members to 1st vote for candidates that you personally know and have confidence in. Second, I would NOT vote for all candidates on one particular slate. Third, because of all the pressing issues we face in the future, I would make sure my returned ballot has a mixture of both active and retired officers. Fourth, and most important I will make sure my returned ballot has a mixture of candidates that have previous FOP board experience and candidates that do not have FOP board experience. And, remember you do not have to vote for all positions, so if you don't know 17 trustees that you feel comfortable with only vote for those that you do.
This post is only directed to Bill/City Wide and Dean. Bill you probably will lose this election and not be the president of FOP not because you are not worthy to run that office because you are. You will lose because you sold your soul to the devil and forgot what it feels like to be in need, hurt, helpless, stripped, and about to lose your livelihood and forced out on disability. Some time God has to remind us that he is the one that orders our foot steps in life and when you began to step on the officer's that needed your help the most It became clear to the rank and file It was time for a change. When you stepped on us Bill the least you could have done was to take off your shoes. Dean I don't even know where to begin with you. Talk about being snub standing there with your funny little glasses on looking studious and very smart while you try to convince us that disability is not a bad thing for us. Wow as I sat their in disbelief thinking to myself here is a officer who was too ill to sit and earn his check at 376 answering the phones. In stead you went on disability got your 52% and suddenly got well enough to start teaching school. To add insult to injury you stood before officer's who have Cancer,Heart Trouble, Multiple Sclerosis, lupus,Kidney Disease just to name a few illnesses and say I give you my word If you apply for disability you will not be turned down. Well Dean we don't want to go on disability we want to work and earn our check. Then If that wasn't enough you give us a blow to the head and say If you vote for me to become the President I will take a pay cut. Wow a pay cut I guess you should . Lets see 52% in disability, A teacher salary, I would take a cut in salary too. So, I will end this blog by saying this I have study my ballot long and hard I have listen carefully to all of you and I have decided to cast my ballot for Clean Slate. When those guys came to 376 Tom and those guys never said anything negative about City Wide or you Dean. What they talked about was alternate revenue sources to fund our pension, Retiree Healthcare, Rebuilding the lines of communications with FOP members just to name a few things and because Clean slate talked only about fixing the problems I will vote for those guys.
