This is Grisly

  • The founder and CEO of American Title Services in Centennial was found dead in his home this week, the result of self-inflicted wounds from a nail gun, according to the Arapahoe County coroner.

Richard Talley, 57, and the company he founded in 2001 were under investigation by state insurance regulators at the time of his death late Tuesday, an agency spokesman confirmed Thursday.

It was unclear how long the investigation had been ongoing or its primary focus.

A coroner's spokeswoman Thursday said Talley was found in his garage by a family member who called authorities. They said Talley died from seven or eight self-inflicted wounds from a nail gun fired into his torso and head.

Also unclear is whether Talley's suicide was related to the investigation by the Colorado Division of Insurance, which regulates title companies.
We imagine they're on safe ground assuming it was related to the business improprieties, but ouch! Seven to eight shots with a nail gun? That took some effort.

He was the 4th financial guy to commit " suicide" in a week.
A nail gun would be my choice too.

Out here in the 'burbs, there was a CEO of some tech firm going south that offed himself with a steak knife, in his car.

Yeah, a steak knife. He also OD'd on OTC painkillers, which would have killed him anyways, if the blood loss didn't do it first.

No, it wasn't some stupid cover up. IMO, it's to make it look like they didn't do the chickenshit thing.

So it's grisly, but maybe not too surprising. His sleaze factor was high: he "was a former regional financial officer at Drexel Burnham Lambert in Chicago," and the Colorado authorities were investigating his company.

I was a carpenter before coming on the job & I had a accident discharge with my nail gun the went through my hand. Very dangerous tool. I would like to offer a public safety note... Now that these are much more common always disconnect the air hose when you're not using the gun. Ten yr old boys are very intrigued with them and they can kill you.

Home improvement can be dangerous, there was a guy in Hobart IN some years back that committed suicide by hitting himself in the head more than 50 times with a hammer, or so said the investigators at the time. It was later reclassified as a homicide (Ray Charles must have resigned as coroner) but I don't know if it was ever solved.

Also, after reading this, one can definitely conclude you can trust nothing said by the mayor's office or Anita's office:

http://projects.suntimes.com/koschman/latest-news/daleys-city-hall-scrambled-over-vanecko-questions/

There are a few scenes in the movie Braveheart brought to mind here. The king longshanks shows up at a battle. he orders his archers to shoot. An adviser tells the king, but we will shoot our own men. the king answers, yes, but we will shoot the enemy too. As the battle turns in favor in the king, the king and his entourage leave. Wallace sees this and tries to go after them. The king's adviser tells a knight, "Save the king!" he stops to fight Wallace, but Wallace over powers him and is about to kill him when he finds out the knight is one of his friends, Robert the Bruce.

In the koshman case, it seems all the CPD higher-ups were following the "Save the king" cry, even though the king himself did not have to say anything. How many, since this case started, have been promoted who worked to save vanecko?

How is it that people can buy these guns without a background check? Second question, are they high capacity, how many nails does one hold? Nail guns are a deadly weapon. They need to be registered, and should have to have a permit to possess one. What is to keep felons from buying them?

I can see it now.

CNNBC reports...

A Savini-Zekman undercover joint investigation reveals Talley went to an unregulated(home improvement) show down South and purchased the components to assemble a fully automatic nail gun, capable of a discharge of 7-8 rounds of 3 penny caliber cartridges.
The liberal news media again renew their outcry for the single shot, hammer and nail alternative, outlawing the 7-8 'high capacity' magazine.
Lead by the National Remodeling Association, (NRA) a group of roofers and framers, defended the need and purchase citing their 2nd Amendment and Section 8 Building Rights.

FOX News counters that disclosure of his gay lifestyle was the cause of his depression.
They further allege Talley's involvement in heterosexual hate crimes that involved 'drive-by slappings' of female prostitutes which ultimately caused their demise.
Thus, the investigation venue by the ah, 'rap-a-hoe' county coroner.

Yup, you're welcome!

off topic but here's a question. I'm starting to see these no gun signs popping up. I won't patronize any place with one so for me it's a moot point, but does anyone know if that applies to LE? I'm not looking to debate the establishments rights, just wondering. My thought is that at most a place could ask you to leave if they choose but I don't know how it might play out criminally if it were pushed.

Three Stooges Construction or Mob Collection Agency?

I never watch any of the C.S.I. dramas but I do watch the crime scene documentaries.

Here are the questions.

In what order and at what location were the nails applied?

What was the time interval between each nail, possibly indicated by blood loss?

Were any nails applied post mortem?

Were there any blood trials or shoeprints in blood? (From experience Chicago cops would have trampled the scene.)

Were there any defense marks or wounds?

Was there a note or communication of intent?

Was the safety on the tool tampered with?

Stay Safe. Be careful with power tools.

First off my weapon is always completely concealed and I will not go through a metal detector or pat down.

If somehow it is discovered I will not allow myself to be detained or touched and would warn anyone that attempts to do so that they may be subject to arrest and I would sue them.

Leave immediately will any bill paid in cash and have a nice day.

Warn anyone I am with not to tip anyone else that I am a P.O..

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Not that strange. Had a fellow copper "shoot" himself in the leg with a pneumatic nail gun during a basement remodel. Shit happens - it was a ricochet as he was trimming out a basement window.

OTOH, same area, had a doper go suicidal after he cooked his brains. Family removed all his guns so he went out to the garage and put a nailer to his head and fired off a single framing nail. Worked like a charm. When you think about it, it gives a whole new meaning to the phrase "wanted to die in the worst way."
