Runoff Politics

We've been a bit heavy handed in the comments lately. We'd just like to say that we've never seen a dirtier, lower and mean-spirited election that the one going on now. A few people (yes, we can tell they're the same person Rich) seem to have nothing better to do than motherfuck one candidate or the other, spew all sorts of stories about physical maladies or lack of the same, scams, misappropriations, backroom dealings, etc etc etc.

Even the stuff about with a grain of truth is blown completely into something it isn't. There was a fluff piece in the Southtown covering the current Acting president, a statement was made about retirees getting shifted to Obamacare:
  • Police officers between the ages of 55 and 64 who retired used to get their health insurance paid for by the city until they reached Medicare eligibility.

Starting last month, they were phased into the Affordable Care Act, Obamacare, to save the city money.

“I understand the city needs to save money and Obamacare may turn out to be a good option,” Dougherty said.
One or more enterprising people have twisted this to be a blanket endorsement of the city's move. It isn't. If you read the next two paragraphs, Bill waffles like all politicians do:
  • “But right now, we don’t know what the future of Obamacare will be. It could disappear in a couple of years and our retirees will be left without health insurance coverage.

“We would just like some time to see how this plays out. The additional cost to our retirees is about $400 a month, and that’s not something they planned for.”
$400 extra a month certainly isn't something that a retiree budgets for. And that $4,800 a year is a far cry from Obama's promise of a $2,500 savings per household. Maybe Bill will want to amend his "see how this plays out" statement - it has played out, and it sucks. This would qualify as a legit point of contention and not the hysterical "Bill loves Obamacare!" hysteria we've been deleting for days now.

Again, we have already stated that we aren't voting for anyone whose name appears on the inside of the current FOP Book, and that includes the runoff. We aren't really happy about the current choices and believe the better candidate didn't make it into the runoff. But when you only have something like 101 eligible candidates from a labor organization of 10,000 active and 6,000 retirees, well, that speaks volumes in and of itself of the state of the Lodge.

You're welcome to disagree and make cognizant arguments for or against that.

UPDATE: To the troll who keeps twisting our words to make it look like we slammed the Angelo supporters - we are disgusted by both sides.

And while SCC has an ax to grind with Dougherty, at least the blog masters can see through the BS being spouted by the Angelo Team. Not sure I've seen too much negative stuff coming from Doughertys camp, maybe the blog is editing it out?

Either way, the stuff about the Shields connections gives me real pause on whether to vote for him or not. Not to mention the fact he hasn't been involved in the FOP in any way in ten years. I'd really like to hear for him a debate format. Maybe he could clear up why his team tried to keep secret their voting to retain Shields. Until I hear otherwise, there's no way I'm voting or him.

Obamacare is great, it is wonderful, it is something we can thank democrats for. In November we remember that not a single republican voted for it, and not a single democrat voted against it. God save us all.

We had an election. We voted out Aguilar. Bill says if he wins Rich stays right were he is.

Bill told McDonagh that he is not bring up the election winners if he is president.

That makes my choice easy. For the life of me I can't figure out why Billy did that?

That's why Bella and McDonagh are out stumping for Angelo.

I voted for Angelo yesterday after voting for Tom McDonagh in the election two weeks ago.

I think the choice is simple.

And if you don't like the candidates start going to meetings. Once we get over 200 and start rising on a regular basis we could rent the plumbers Hall.

This guy Dougherty actually came in our station and talked about how he pulled a Republican ballot this election for the first time. Wow did this guy just admit to voting for the Democratic party machine his whole life. Just lost my vote buddy. If u vote for those morons then....well that just tells me all I need to know

What I welcome is the fact that this thread helps further sink Bill Dougherty's chance of being elected president (not that he needed any help).

The Citywide pigs have gotten fat at the membership-financed trough for far too long. Time to send the remnants that didn't make the cut via election off to slaughter.

Dean Angelo: I believe in you and have supported you from the beginning. Coworkers that inquired as to your abilities and sincerity have been appropriately educated. Please put your money where your mouth is and right this ship when you're declared the victor.

Bill Dougherty: your ship has sailed. What you did/allowed to happen to this union because of your hatred for Mike Shields is dispicable. You helped orchestrate and set into motion a plan to destroy the new guy who threatened the Good Ol' Boys Club to which you and the Citywide crew had grown accustomed. Never mind the fact that it potentially fucked every member financially - you and the fellas couldn't be bothered with a new guy at the helm, new ideas and the thought of a pesky forensic financial audit. Truth be told, your problems are much bigger than being bounced back to a beat car in 022 - you just don't know it yet.

Rich AguiLIAR: no need to wrestle with whether or not to pull those retirement papers set for 15 April. You can finalize your 'illustrious' career consisting of 014 District FTO and decade-long Citywide hanger-on on the same day you mail your tax return. Be sure to take a good, hard, long look at that "gross earnings" portion because your days of captains pay + $600 a month stipend are OVER. Billy and Marky Mark won't be there to catch you this time. Same goes for you Jimmy Bailey. No golden egg in your basket this year at the FOP Lunch With The Easter Bunny / Egg Hunt. Maybe you and Stuttering Bill can partner-up on a rapid car...

Marky Mark Donahue: your connection to Ted Street and the 7 degrees of separation of Teds wife landing that cush 19th Ward-related job, the ISP debacle with the Hedgehog, etc, etc are slowly returning home to roost.

Interesting times ahead. If I were a gambling man, I'd bet the farm on Mikey Shields just getting started on how bad he's gonna fuck you boys for railroading him. "Retro Letter" issue aside, you fucks dropped the ball bigtime in your rush to oust Mike. And when the dust settles, I see a lot of Citywide henchmen and cheerleaders paying the piper. I, for one, can't wait to see it.

Interesting time ahead indeed.

Sorry SCC but I was in NW 9 days ago and just logged on to my BCBS account. BCBS PPO is handling all of my bills. I also just logged into my banking accounts and my check is ok. Got the COLA for the last two months too.

When Krislov (sp) took over the Underwood case I tried to give him $100.00 and he did not want to take it. He said that my healthcare was part of the contract until I hit Medical age. I did get him to that $100.00 because when I left the job I said that part of my terms and conditions that when I hit medicare age that BCBS PPO would be come my secondary insurance and that the pension board, the city and I would each pay one third of the cost at market rates.

Sgt Ade gave back some of that in the Sgt’s contract. If FOP did that who ever was in on that deal - Dougherty - would have to go into the witness protection program.

The big problem I have with Bill on this is that is second news interview where he seems to initiate this conversation. Why go there at all?

There is another huge problem with what is going on with the FOP hall right now. Dougherty and Aguliar are meeting with the city and making tentative agreements on the contract. No one on the board of trustees knows what is going on. Let’s face it Rich is a cancer on this organization. I think Billy just lost the election/runoff when he said no one who got elected is coming up stairs. “I’m bring up all of my own guys.“

Political suicide.

This is my two cents worth of comment...all of the current team sat down at the FOP, some of them, Dougherty, having the experience of being down their for awhile, and acted as if they didn't know Shields had no clue...maybe because they disliked him and thought it was ok to let him screw us out of our retro pay and make our lodge a state embarrassment so that he'd be ousted...anyway I voted against the status quo...

The minute I read this post, it dawned on me. This is the same eureka moment many of us had too late last election. Shields was going around to roll call charming the membership and talking about running a clean campaign and the need for change for change's sake. But at the same time he had some tech savvy buddies bombing away on this blog and other, smearing the CityWide guys relentlessly. They spread a ton of lies about them--mainly stuff that was made up or misquoted. Shields' approach worked. It got him elected. But what did it get us? Screwed. Back when Shields starting falling apart I remember thinking to myself that anyone who voted to put this guy in office was responsible for whatever we got. While he knew how to win a campaign he had no idea how to run a union. Now, I am having that eureka moment all over again. Except this time I am saved by the run-off election. If you're like me and you voted for Angelo in the general election because he charmed you with promises of "change," think long and hard this time around. I don't know if the rumors about his affiliation with Shields are true or not but he sure is starting to resemble the guy that stole the election back in 2011. Let's not let that happen again. I'M VOTING DOUGHERTY this time around.

Not sure if you have the BC/BS part right or the pension board part right.
BC/BS PPO does not insure you. The city is self insured and hires BC/BS to administer the city plan. That is a fact.
Second the pension at this time is keeping their percentage contribution to your healthcare the same. The city is reducing it over the next three years. That is why the premiums went up this year. If the city can change their percentage so can the pension board if they want to.
Not saying its right, but appears this is the way it is.

With Rich Aguliar retiring April 15th and Tracey Ladner going too, maybe they can be replaced with people who can work things out. That would be a big plus for working coppers.

I hear a lot of people want to know why the count was pushed back a day. That would give everyone an extra week upstairs.

I don't think it was for the money. Dougherty is really using the extra week pick kangaroo courts to exonerate, Aguliar, Donahue, and Moriarty of charges. Most people weren't paying attention at the end of the meeting Tuesday when they were lining up for two day old corned beef sandwiches when Dougherty gave out the hearing dates.

There is an April 16th court date with Google that should be very interesting. We should learn what the IP address is and who owns the that YouTube account. A wild guess is it came from the FOP server and the account holder is RA. But that's just a guess.

Just remember that a vote for Dougherty is a vote to continue this nonsense.

While I'm glad SCC is setting the record straight on this one, it didn't change my vote one bit. Any half-way intelligent person can see through the campaign smear tactics and all the holier than thou rhetoric. Like it or not, its politics.

Angelo seems like a fairly smart guy. But, I didn't vote for him. Since when are the CityWide guys the bad guys? Citywide, in its various forms, has done a great deal more for membership than any other group around in the 20 odd years I've been paying attention. They've had their bad apples but, for the most part, have seemed to part ways with them. Hence some of the former guys running on different tickets. Citywide has the experience and has done the job--why in the world would anybody vote for some unproven guy. I gotta imagine the majority of officers feel the same.

If you were at the general meeting Tuesday a lot of the people who ran with Dougherty and lost did not show up. It was a very short meeting. Looks like Nenad Markovich has replaced Tracey Qualles as Dougherty`s special adviser or floor leader. Despite times call for despite actions.

On a funny note is seems that Dougherty is asking for life preserver from Brock Merck. The only reason that is funny is because every meeting Brock asks a question at the meetings most of the crowd wants to choke him. Billy and his crew openly talk about him behind his back. Many times within just a few feet of him.

If you look in the encyclopedia and find Too much college not enough grade school!. You find Brock’s and Pledanski’s pictures. Academically solid but not and ounce of common sense. I think this is Brock’s third run for office and he has finished last each time. Carlos Cortez is another one that runs all the time and always finishes last.

Please start coming to meetings.

$40 dollars for the insurance is a bargain but the lodge pays per capita to the state and local lodges. The National make no distinction between retired and active. in our lodge retirees do not get to vote on contracts nor do the get legal defense. Nor should they. But if someone who spent 35 years on the job wants back in I say let him in. The CityWide people created this rift between retirees and on duty personal because they never carried the retiree vote. I you want to quit because some guy comes back in I say don't let the door hit you in the ass.

Anyone thinks the retirees have too much of a say right now start going to meetings and put yourself out and run for office. If Shields had just listen to the retirees on the board instead of the CityWide people we would not be in this state of affairs.

This is my first time posting on Second City Cop. I’m a 27+ year sworn member of the Chicago Police Department and FOP Lodge 7. I’m part Luddite and part cynic. I’m in my early 50’s, carrying a few more pounds than I would like to admit to, and lost a lot of the nice curly hair that I once had. I try to keep a sense of humor (self-depreciating especially), although the current times test my funny muscle. I don’t like everybody, and everybody doesn’t like me. I don’t regularly cruise the web or intensely follow sites such as this. Admittedly, I have gotten a good laugh or two at some of the prose that has been submitted by some of the posters on this blog site. Some of my fellow brothers and sisters in blue have truly missed their calling. They should have been writers for the comedy entertainment industry. You’re good, really good at times. There is nobody better than a copper to synthesize an incident, create, and impose a life sentence nickname for the guilty party.
The reason why I’m posting is to ask each member of FOP Lodge 7 to VOTE in the upcoming elections, our lodge’s Presidential and this fall’s General. Vote for your choice of the candidates. If you have to hold your nose to do so, than hold your nose. I held mine, neither FOP 7 candidate was my first choice. Send in your ballot. My thoughts are that some of the politicians that work for us may take notice of a high turnout (submitted ballots) by our membership. The sergeant’s association’s vote rejecting a proposed contract that would have impacted all of us regarding proposed pension changes, had a high eighty- low ninety percent compliance. The thing that impressed me the most was not the result of the vote, although I think their rejection of a contract that would have had a negative impact on all of our pensions was the correct choice; it was the high percentage of their membership that voted.
I rallied 7 members of my family, and 17 of my friends to vote against a specific candidate running for a statewide office due to his misshaping of the public debate, and ignoring the facts when it comes to our pensions. Unfortunately he won his party’s nomination. But you know what; I will work on getting a few more votes against him in the general. Hey, I’m just one guy, 25 votes. Do the math, the city says there’s 13,500 of us,( I told you that I had a sense of humor), and let’s say 4 to 5 thousand of us can realistically influence 5 to 6 votes, that’s around 20 to 30 thousand votes. In a tight race, we are the difference makers. Come this fall, my family and friends will be going to the polls. Stay safe and be well.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++
What were you paying attention to? The CityWide team just lost 22 out of 26 races. They only beat out George Armstrong Custer by a nose. Bill has made 2 million dollars of our dues money since he went up stairs. We pay 5k a year for ice time for his hockey team. He backstabbed the kid Shields and cost us all 2%. He told McDonagh I’m not bring up the elction winners in the office, I’m not taking less money, and said no to all of Tom’s requests for transparency and reform.

Tom McDonagh:

"After meeting with both candidates in the FOP run off, I'm proud to announce that Tom McDonagh and Clean Slate 7 endorse Dean Angelo for FOP president. Dean has been hit with every kind of dirt and personal attack you can think of and he has kept above the mud slinging. Our members have seen this kind of behavior for the past three years and are tired of it. We need someone who will listen to the members, institute the reforms they are looking for and bring everyone into the process. Dean is the only candidate that has told our members what he will do to right the ship. Vote for Dean so we can put and end to this irresponsible behavior and start to dig ourselves out of the hole we are in. Thanks again for all of your support."

Your post was too well written to come from Aguliar, Moriarty, or Voight. So Mark Donahue just sign your name to the above post!

3/20/2014 10:02:00 AM

If you retired prior to 89 nothing change much. If you retired between 1989 and now your rates went up. If you were not yet medical eligible your rates went up a lot. If you worked till you hit 60 your health care is covered till you hit medical age, there are costs for family members. If you left with 55 and out your still not paying premiums for yourself.

I think everyone knows that almost every big city is self insured. BC BS only administers the program.

Maybe we lose it maybe we don't. But I surely am not going to let the city know how pissed off I am about the letter not being submitted on time. I am going to continue to support my union and the people we voted in. And all you beleivers that think that Dean is going to cut salaries of the people elected are just as stupid as the recently kicked out President. Dean and his son will always have two votes on every decision that needs to be made. And what do you think the younger one will do, yes daddy whatever you say.

The past president failed us bottom line. A president who can decide who has a inside office and who doesn't. I could see why the system failed the members

This is a huge benefit that We should not give in one inch to the city. If you know of any retiree who is not signed up for the Underwood vs the City law suit it a only $100.

Stay safe.

One thing the city should do is change the 1.5 million lifetime benefit. With the cost of hosspitals and doctors that lifetime benefit can be met sooner than you think.

I am begrudgingly voting for Doherty.

My reasoning is simple. In the last 6 years I have seen two "Presidents" who ran on a campaign of how they are going to change things. Change the whole way things have been run for years. Get rid of the old politicians/policies and usher in new blood.

Once elected, they find out it is almost impossible to fulfill their promises. They learn everybody before them wanted to fix things also, but there are too many obstacles cemented in place. Being the President shouldn't be a "learn as you go," job. Either you know you can't really change things and are a liar, or you are naive.

Change has not been good for me. I choose the realist over the idealist.

Again, we have already stated that we aren't voting for anyone whose name appears on the inside of the current FOP Book, and that includes the runoff.

So you're voting for the father of Jr, who appears on the inside cover of the FOP book and wanted a secret ballot to get rid of Shields. The father of Jr who has supported Shields 100% through his miserable debacle as FOP president along with all the Angelo people who were inside the cover of the FOP book. The father who stood next to Mike Lappe at the last general meeting. I had to ask how is Sr on 75% disability and Mike still working? Shouldn't it be the other way around? You know the Mike Lappe who has nothing but pride for his job and is still working for the police department after being catastrophically injured. The same guy that was on the contract negotiating committee 13 years ago as a trustee and lied to the members about the temporary agreement that will keep taking more and more from us by way of a percentage being attached to our gross pay for healthcare. Leopards don't change their spots only learn how to use their camouflage better. And you call that reform, more like a step back to the dark ages!!!!!

What's all this about "insurance" and "health care?" Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel says that insurance companies are going to disappear soon, replaced by other all-powerful entities that will manage your life with "interventions" and make sole-source contracts with employers -- no more choices for you! -- and as you get older, you will get less and less care.

Here.

Obama's Health Rationer-in-Chief
White House health-care adviser Ezekiel Emanuel blames the Hippocratic Oath for the 'overuse' of medical care.

New York Times
Betsy McCaughey
Updated Aug. 27, 2009 12:52 p.m. ET

"Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel, health adviser to President Barack Obama, ...is part of a school of thought that redefines a physician’s duty, insisting that it includes working for the greater good of society instead of focusing only on a patient’s needs.

"In numerous writings, Dr. Emanuel chastises physicians for thinking only about their own patient's needs.

"Substantively, it suggests services that promote the continuation of the polity—those that ensure healthy future generations, ensure development of practical reasoning skills, and ensure full and active participation by citizens in public deliberations—are to be socially guaranteed as basic.

[I take it that all this means "voting for Inner Circle candidates." -- Ed.]

"Covering services provided to individuals who are irreversibly prevented from being or becoming participating citizens are not basic, and should not be guaranteed. An obvious example is not guaranteeing health services to patients with dementia." (Hastings Center Report, November-December, 1996)"

Dean Angelo Sr is on the inside cover of the 2000,2001 and 2002 FOP book as chairman of the trustees. His entire slate that ran for election in 2002 were voted out of office for lying to the members regarding the percentage being attached to our gross pay so it would be impossible to forecast how much we would be paying for healthcare because nobody could figure out when step raises would kick in for each of our 10,000 members. With the old flat rate for healthcare we could put a definitive number on what the city was actually collecting from us for healthcare. That is how we retirees received 25 Million from the city for overcharging us and still get the checks today, courtesy of Donahue and Dougherty.

In order to run for FOP office, a candidate must attend at least 5 General Membership meeting in the year leading up to the election. Of the nearly 11,000 members of the FOP, only about 120 were eligible to run. Sad. And that is why you have so many retirees on the offices.

Whether you agree or not, this is the type of statement that people will listen to, not the childish, immature, name-calling BS.

3/20/2014 10:49:00 PM

Hey blow job. You're voting for a guy who screwed every PO out of 3 large so he could make 20k more a year. Fuck him. Dougherty should be kicked out the Union. He sit on his hands and watched that idiot Sheilds fall on his face so he could be the president. Well it's back to the watch for you Bill. Hope you grabbed a size fat fuck pair of oants and a shirt from the uniform resale because you re gonna need it pretty soon.

The savings proposed by Angelo Sr can't be implemented until the next election correct? Is Dean going to leave his college and voluntarily cut his salary at lodge? No way that happens! If Angelo jr voted to retain Shields because "he followed union rules" instead of just saying he is my life long, then these union bylaws need to be rewritten. Ive asked that everything be reviewed. The standard response by everybody at the lodge is "that's how they were written when the union was formed" is no longer an excuse. Get rid of these trustees at $600 a month....start there.

Voting for Dougherty. I try not to listen to all the muckraking. Most of the trash talking doesn't seem legit. The Angelo/Shields connection raised an eyebrow though. But ultimately, I figured Dougherty would be better at the job than someone who hasn't been part of the union in ten plus years.

Voted for Angelo, can not get any "worse" than the experienced Dougherty and Aguilar crew has done. Billy and the field reps get 600 a month on top of their pay, WTFVote Angelo and stop this craziness!

Yeah Angelo is going to stop the craziness. You think he is going to give up any money. Your crazy.

Here's some food for thought. CFD retirees do not vote in their board elections. They can run for spots, but only the active duty guys can vote. Might not be a bad idea for us.

Another idea might be to have a subordinate lodge just for the retirees. Their Own board could do what they think is best for them.

A word to the wise the goof that runs the blog attached to the above post is Rich Ag-u-liar. He is the most polarizing and disliked officer in the FOP.

Remember if you vote for Dougherty none of the people who won any of the top 6 slots will be seated in the office. That is why Tom McDonagh endorsed Angelo.

Vote wisely. There is a reason 23 out of 27 members of CityWide team lost their races. Their all thugs.

Apparently there must be a select group that enjoy the bashing of others. It is quiet noticeable of more bashing of Bill, and a few other guys he ran with. This is why I felt an actual debate would have been the way to go. No bashing talking only facts what each would have been doing and not the bull of I HEARD this and heard that. It is all nonsense and you guys that have been around a while will understand. You will also understand what has occurred in the past. Make your choice correctly and choose wisely

Each and every paycheck you get to feel the lie of Angelo in your healthcare contribution from 2002 and as our pension fund declines you can thank scammers like Dean. I voted for Shields. I think anything different is better than the old regime. In my 15 years the citywide team has been in power, and not showed me anything. If this new regime does nothing, then it will be the same as the old. Good luck brothers.

Ok, Bill nice try. better luck next time. I voted for Angelo because I personally don't trust you and I have known you now for 20 years.

You can turn my comment around, but I am someone who knows both candidates and spoke from experience. As I said vote for who you want. Again I stated I wasn't always happy with Bill, but at least he was always up front. Personally, vote for whoever you want. But if Angelo gets in, don't be bitching and crying if you voted for him. I really believe he will stick it up our asses and fuck the FOP up even worse. Looking to keep the votes secret to remove Shields permanently shows the mindset of a person to keep members uninformed about any union business. When that was brought out it should have raised red flags all over the place. Like I said, look at the person, not the mud slinging. Action speak a hell of alot louder than words. Angelo is shit slinging all over against Bill, when he attempted to cover up the voting. So you can MF me and turn my words around, but I'll vote from experience and not BULLSHIT.

Are you sure? You sure that asking the FOP to drop a certain lawsuit involving gross misappropriation of FOP money against one of the "clean slate" team members wasn't what led McDonagh to Angelo's door step?

Okay I have to say this much, vote for who you want BUT know you facts before you do. Tom is endorsing Dean ONLY because Bill wouldn't promise him a field rep spot or to drop the lawsuit against Bella which should never be dropped and even referred to be investigated for misappropriation of union money and not just a civil suit. I am not saying Dean promised Tom anything BUT I have made it clear to both candidates that due to a conversation I personally had with Tom at the January general meeting, it's clear he is not fit to be a field rep with the words he used to describe his own 1st VP. IF it comes to pass that he is made a field rep then the story in its entirety will be made public knowledge. Also along that line Bernard Kelly is injecting race into this runoff by questioning how many blacks Bill would appoint if he wins. This is a sad tactic since I personally made Bernard aware of what his our presidential candidate was saying about him and nothing was said or done at the time. You are either for equality ALL the time or not. It can't be just when you are trying to benefit your own self.
This is not an endorsement either way. It's just simple facts before you vote. I for one will not give up the fight to have Bella tossed out on his assistant from this union all together and believe Donahue should join him.

Don't listen to endorsements....they are all in it for themselves.

Reality is regardless who becomes President of the FOP the membership is going to get an eight% raise over the duration of the contract. The precedent is already established via the Sgts' and Lts'. contracts. The question is how our raises are going to be designed, which will be a question for an arbitrator.

VOTE DEAN ANGELO
FOR
FOP PRESIDENT

Tom McDonagh and Greg Bella were asked by Bill Dougherty and Dean Anglo for an endorsement in the runoff election for FOP president. We met with Angelo on 09 March and Dougherty on 11 March. We asked for nothing from the candidates and were not promised anything by either candidate. The following questions were asked of both candidates. This is a summary and not a verbatim statement.

1. Will you reduce the approximately @200,000 a year salary for the president and the approximately &150,000 a year salary for the field reps who work in the FOP office? (Historically the field reps made the high salary because they were on call 24/7 and went out on all police shootings. The Lodge has since hired John Farrell and Kris Kato to respond to all police shootings.)

ANGELO – Yes, and he will deduct his $50,000 a year disability from his salary.

DOUGHERTY – No, the field reps work hard and long hours.

2. Will you eliminate the $600 a month stipend paid to the president and the field reps pm top of their salaries?

ANGELO – Yes, he would eliminate the stipend.

DOUGHERTY – He would review it.

3. The president names the field reps who work inside the FOP office, will you name the officers elected by the members to the top spots as field reps?

ANGELO – Yes, it is what the members want.

DOUGHERTY – No, he does not trust Ray Casiano (elected 1st V.P.) and doesn’t know Kevin Kilmer (elected Financial Secretary). He said he will bring up Rich Aguilar even though Kilmer won the election.

4. Mark Donahue receives $75,000 a year as a Legislative Liaison and Mark O’Toole also receives $75,000 a year as the FOP Lobbyist. Will you keep both of them?

ANGELO – No, the president should be in Springfield with the Lodge Lobbyist. He will interview O’Toole as well as other lobbyists then make a recommendation to the Board for the Lodge Lobbyist position.

DOUGHERTY – He would keep both. He believes they both do a good job.

5. Will you mandate that the Board of Directors attend one roll call per month in the Districts or Units?

ANGELO – Yes, and if the trustees don’t attend one roll call per month I will deduct $300 from their $600 per month stipend.

DOUGHERTY – No, he said that the roll calls were done before and didn’t work.

6. Members cannot attend roll calls because they are working their tour, working special or going to school, will you stream the union and Board meetings so our members can log in with a username and password to a secure site and watch the Board and General meetings?

ANGELO – Yes, you can watch both Congress and the City Council, why not the FOP? That will bring more members into the process and that’s a good thing.

DOUGHERTY – He would not want the city to know what we are doing.

The answer is pretty obvious Dean Angelo is the only candidate who will make the changes necessary to restore the trust of the Membership. Dougherty will maintain the status quo. We cannot lose another 3 years or we will lose everything.

How do you know Dean Angelo will make these changes? He has had these changes on his web site. They are there. They are in writing. He cannot deny it. The Membership demands these changes and Dean agrees. Dean is the only candidate that can unite the Membership and lead this union out of this nightmare.

Tom McDonagh, Greg Bella and Clean Slate 7 are proud to endorse Dean Angelo Sr. for FOP President.
