Englewood Gunman Shot
- Chicago police shot a man they said had been walking around the neighborhood waving a gun and was found standing on a balcony with a gun to his head.
An officer shot the man, in his mid-20s, about 10 p.m. just north of 61st Street on Sangamon Avenue in the Englewood neighborhood.
He was on a balcony with a gun to his head when an Englewood District sergeant tried to talk him down, Fraternal Order of Police Spokesman Patrick Camden said.
The man told police they'd have to shoot him if they wanted him to drop the weapon and started lowering it toward the sergeant, Camden said.
A separate officer who set up opposite the sergeant opened fire, hitting the man in his side, Camden said. Camden said the man told police that he didn't need help getting into the ambulance or to wear handcuffs, since he had been shot before.
Cops are all okay.

Ladner is quitting and so is Maniotis. Rousselle is coming back as a civilian chief of staff to the Supe. He was just forced out because of age. He's a good guy. I hope he finally gets even with Georgas and Ryan for what they did to him. What goes around comes around.
If Ladner is gone that's good news, that lady has done horrible things to officers. She lets harassment take place at work by protecting the at fault party and laughs about it. Also, policies to undermine federal law when it comes to military soldiers. Goes out of her way to mess with others. Worst HR manager ever, with all her unethical activities, she shouldn't have quit and should of been fired a long time ago.

Why, because no matter who it is we took a very clear oath when we took this job. Most of us knew that there we good and bad, but you treat everyone with respect until they give you a reason not to get it. We serve everyone from a millionaire to an addict who is sleeping in a cardboard box. Many may say I'm a fucking idiot, but being a cop, fireman or paramedic is more than just a job. It is a career that you have to want to do. It is not for fame or glory, but personal satisfaction. The main things every cop should follow is show everyone respect, if they are respecting you. Treat everyone the same way you would treat a close friend or family member. Never treat people like you are above them because you wear a uniform. The impression you leave on a person is how they look at every member of this department. Lastly, even when you stop somebody, don't verbally abuse them. Used to ask everyone I ever stopped when I would search them, if they had any guns, knives, bombs or hand grenades on them. Also told them why I sopped them and apologized when they were clear.
But that is the job. Can't be anything but a racist and egotist, feel free to move on to another career. But even the bangers gave me respect and always left when I told them we received a loitering call. The y would always say hi to me when I was driving by. Plus for the respect and trust, used to get great info on many crimes.

Seriously, I can't understand this. You are the law. All they need to understand is they go to jail if you catch them dirty. How we choose to do that is our business, not yours.

Great story officer is ok and the perp is in custody. I applaud those few who chose to help and acted so bravely. Unfortunately, the officer's badge and cell phone were taken from the scene. Could've been a perfect story. I laugh at the wimps who were recording the incident... Guess the service they pay for with their money to protect and serve is less important than a nice video clip on the Internet.
