As Predicted....

And it only took 30 days for someone to be an idiot with a gun and get caught at it:
  • A 54-year-old Northwest Side man who allegedly pulled a gun during a property dispute is the first concealed carry permit holder arrested in Chicago, police officials say.

William P. O’Connell, of the 7200 block of North Oleander Avenue, lost his permit as a result of the arrest, said a spokeswoman for the Illinois State Police.
That's it. Game over. Guns are evil and no one should have any.

The line forms in front of St. Sabina to turn in all your weapons and go back to the halcyon days of 2012 when a mere 500 bodies littered the streets, alleys and gutters of Chicago.

Meanwhile, in the past 4 days, about 25 people got shot, at least three are dead, and not a single CCL was to be found.

The media tools couldn't wait to jump all over this.

I guess you always have a few knot heads slip through the screening process. Sounds like the knot head only brandished his pistol, didn't actually shoot anyone, Thank God.

It was NEVER about keeping guns out of the hands of felonious shit-heads...

It was all about keeping guns of of the hands of everybody else so they wouldn't be able to fight the shit-heads back on at least equal footing.

As far as the clown brandishing a gun in a rent dispute?

Eff him... No sympathy at all.

How many guns are brandished for various disputes on the West and South Sides on a daily basis?

An Emergency Ordinance will go into effect after the City Council votes on it Friday in a Special Session that will be called by the Mayor Pro Tem (not Rahm, but his designee in the designated hierarchy of the City Council).

It seems like they had this already written up and ready-to-go.

Basically, it is a complete banning ordinance designed to overcome the state law based on Home Rule and parts of a homestead protection ordinance still on the books that dates back to when all Aldermen (of the city) were given authority to carry guns as part of their job as Aldermen. (late 1800s)

The Ordinance's major points are:

A special six-man Commission will be appointed to see that this ordinance is carried out to the letter of the law.

Each commissioner will serve a four-year term. (the Commission shall include two police officers of sergeant rank or higher, a Cook County Circuit Court Judge, a Department of Revenue director, a civilian appointed by the Mayor's Office, and a fireman).

All guns will be confiscated in the boundaries of the City of Chicago. (This includes those who have valid FOID cards as FOID cards are NOT recognized by the ordinance.)

No permits of any kind will be recognized.

No guns will be allowed, except for one for home defense only.

This shall be a long-rifle, excluding ALL shotguns, and shall not be a pistol, revolver or handgun of any type, model, caliber, or of foreign manufacture.

(Because the ordinance they drafted the language from is so old, the only valid long-gun (which MUST be manufactured in the US) that will be allowed and can be used is the Winchester Model 93 - basically the rifle that Chuck Connors used in the Rifleman)

Only sworn police officers of the City will be allowed to carry guns.

This ordinance also includes provisions for ALL Aldermen, their staffs and immediate family, and the first tier of the ranking officials in the Fire Department, Streets & Sanitation, and the Department of Revenue.

No one (of this designated group) will be required to hold a State of Illinois CCW permit as the City Permit based on Home Rule will suffice.

Qualifying for the Chicago Permit will be minimal.

The required targets to be hit will be on the offically adopted McCarthy City Qualifications Test based on shooting under adverse conditions and individual cognizance.

The shooter must consume either 5 shots of Bourbon, four martinis, or 7 Cosmopolitans whichever they select and then shoot 10 streetlights or 3 police cameras.

Yeah right - April Fools.

Spot on SCC ! The PropagandaMinistry, aka, Chicago media are going to this to death.
But no mention of the 68,000 convicted criminal aliens released by ICE, or the over 872,000 ordered removed by immigration authorities that are still here. Chicago being a "sanctuary" city, I'd like to remind our illegals that election day is coming, don't forget to pull that "D" lever.
After all, VP Biden said they're already citizens.

While 1/N (100,000's) of permit holders doesn't even equate to a statistical blip, we shall highlight it as if it were the defining event that overwhelming proves our supposition: guns are evil and those who carry them are ALL crazed lunatics just waiting for the opportunity to perpetrate mayhem . . . . .

OT only somewhat since you mentioned St. Sabinas. Did you see father fakey attending the Sox opener? And then Ben Bradley and the whole channel 7 crew fawning over the stuttering fool and his entire crime family at the ballpark. If Jesse had been there as well, a well timed drone strike could have eliminated further cause for complaint for much of the city.

Yes, sadly, you are probably correct. These types of incidents have occurred in other states with CCW, but few and far between. I would not say common place, but they will occur. But, far, far less then the shootings that happen every day in the city streets over just about any reason you can think of ( took last chicken leg, stomped on my hat, etc, you know the drill). But, I would venture to guess that very few holders of a CCW will been engaged in actually shooting someone over some bullshit reason.I sure would like the newspapers to publish at the end of the year every shooting that occurred and the motive for that shooting. Besides the comic relief that it would provide it would take the heat off of the few good citizens who screw up.

The Sun-Times article sucks, surprise - surprise. Gives only the tenants version of what went down, as they told the police or S-T 'reporter'.

Its just hard to believe that this building owner went through all the time and expense to get a CC Permit, and THEN wait to bring his gun and then pull it to collect the rent (outstanding money)? That doesn't compute?

But what I don't like that if the guy is found Not Guilty, he still loses his carry permit for life -- but not his FOID Card -- because he was charged with a possible crime. That's a teeny un-fucking-American. Now if this guy is whack job that slipped through that's another story and screw him, you blew it Sparky. But gee, how about a stinking TRIAL first before he's stripped for life? ~~~ I can envision a lot of scenarios where someone with a grudge, or pissed of wife and/or GF, can just make shit up about a CC Permit holder and call the police to 'get even'. ~~~

Guilty by accusation & charge, damn, Putin would love Illinois politicians.

This doofis buys an income producing house in the ghetto and wonders why the inhabitants can't pay the rent. If it were a legitimate building, he'd probably be eligible for Section 8, but its more likely a slum. He isn't the first to pull a gun on a bustout tenant, just the first to do it carrying a CCP.
But now Gmac will have this moment of the Wild West theory to bolster.

------------------------------

Glad I could make some people laugh. Reading too many of these threads and the idiocy of some officials gets you really depressed. I know it gets me depressed.

I thought that adding "a fireman" on to the "Commission" would be a dead giveaway that the post was bogus - BUT THEN - thinking more about it, I bet when some of you read through it, you saw that and thought - Yeah, this HAS to be true because only Chicago would put on a fireman to a commission like this.

So adding the requirement that one fireman serve on this commission probably made some believe this was the iron-clad truth.

I hope you had a good laugh because good laughs are hard to come by on the job.

Keep up the good work and real tradition of the CPD.

As we have long pointed out at USCCA, having a concealed carry permit does not eliminate the possibility of being arrested--even if you properly and legally brandished your weapon.

It is important that anyone carrying concealed understands their rights and responsibilities--and how they can best protect themselves from such situations.

This man may in the end be found not guilty, but even still he will have the expense, not to mention inconvenience, of going through the arrest (and possibly trial) process.
