Police Shoot, Kill Armed Assailant

  • A 20-year-old man who allegedly pointed a gun at a police officer was fatally shot by a police Saturday morning after a foot chase on the South Side, officials said.

    Raason Shaw, of the 7800 block of South Merrill Avenue, pointed a .40-caliber handgun at an officer who was running after him in the 6200 block of South Rhodes Avenue in the Woodlawn neighborhood, officials said.

    According to a statement issued by police, a Glock semi-automatic handgun with a laser sight and extended high-capacity magazine was recovered at the scene.
Then of course, the family saw the potential for acting out, getting some camera time, and maybe a payout from the Chicago money tree:
  • “He was going to the family house, and they shot him,” said Sherrell Harris, Shaw’s sister, standing on 63rd Street not far from where the shooting happened. “They shot to kill.”

    “He was going to the family house, and they shot him,” said Harris, standing on 63rd Street not far from where the shooting happened. “They shot to kill.”
Um, yeah. That's the point. We don't really "shoot to tickle."
  • Raekwon Harris said his cousin was shot in the back.

    “He had a warrant out, but it ain’t worth getting shot for,” Harris said. “That don’t give them no right to shoot him.”

    Harris said Shaw saw the police and ran and that an officer fired several times.

    “I pulled in to the alley, and the officer was in the back yard standing over him with his gun down,” Harris said as his cousin lay face-down on the ground. “So when I got there, he said, ‘Get back, get back, I will shoot.’ I’m like, ‘You gonna shoot? You just shot him. You gonna shoot somebody else?’”
Maybe you should be telling that to the recently deceased? We mean....just a thought. Nobody said he got shot for the warrant. He got shot for pointing the gun - at the police. And if he pointed the gun at the police and another cop saw it and sot him from another angle, i.e. "from the back," well that isn't illegal - it's good tactics. Read the law Raekwon....if you can find a law book that is. And know where a library is. And read, too, come to think of it.

Shaw was a menace in 003. He is most likely responsible for at least 2 homicides. The BDs wanted him dead but were afraid of him because he always had a pistol and was always shooting at them.

Good riddance. You did the world a service.

That's the difference between the brutal cops and gang bangers out to have a good time. The cops unfairly shot to kill, while the happy go lucky bangers only shoot to wound. That is why so many bangers only shoot each other in the arms or legs or hands and feet.

As well he should be.

"He ain't have no gun! Po-leece put dat gun on dat boy! Dis a 'spiracy!"

>All things that exist and on every plane, just rolled their collective eyes...<

Mmm-Hmm...

CUE: The usual cries of "Sump'n oughta be done about da Po-leece cuz dey jest outta control."

Irony is the mayor stealing Police resources from everybody else and heaping them upon people who DON'T WANT ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE POLICE or the societal contract that Police presence represents.

"We keep tellin' y'all we don't want y'all around here!"

Never you mind all the scraping noise over yonder way... They're busy scrubbing all the "arthritic fingers" & posing with guns pictures from this now dead goblin's facebook/twitter account(s)

"Scrubba-scrub-scrub! We HATE Y'ALL! Y'all racist for sayin' that!"

It would be amusing if there were a bunch of "We kill gun toting/ gun pointing criminals" put up on social media by people purporting to be Police.

Free Speech?

"AHHHH! Y'all gots RULES! Y'all can't do dat!"

Let the real tax payers have THEIR police back and let the Englehoodians and others of kindred ilk have the soon coming Cocked-Hat Security & Public Safety Customer Service Agents of Chicago.

The will look like the Englehoodians, walk like them, talk, think and reason just like them and best of all, read, interpret and apply the law JUST like the Englehoodians and their kindred ilk do.

It'll be beyond funny when iron-legged Yung-Buk gets his scalp massaged by the Cocked-Hats for jaw-jacking after they tell him to keep it moving...

"Muhfukkah I'm a grown-ass man, fu-" >WHAP!-THUD!<

>Ghetto Tweety-Birds & Strangely Serene Oriental-Like Music<

Cocked-Hats can be chosen from the community. this will put an end to foolishness about "We only wants Po-leece that looks like us up in heah!"

Everybody is happy right?
Taxpayers get their Police back and Englehoodians and their kindred ilk get the armed baby sitters picked from amongst THEM.

And with that... Good job by The Police!

CPD Rules of Gunfighting
(Adapted and Modified from the USMC Rules of Gunfighting... SEMPER FI!)

Rule #21:
Be polite. Be professional, but have a plan in mind to kill everyone and everything you encounter should it ever be neccessary.

"No prizes for second place."

Glad The Police are safe and sound.

Some race hating speech from one of the shithead's friends (Jay Rozay), no doubt, on the Facebook thread attached to the Tribune story:

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking/chi-chicago-crime-police-shooting-20140329,0,5437171.story

It's interesting to see the comments on stories like this. Even though the Trib uses words like "allegedly" when stating why the police did something, they never say allegedly when referring to the offender's actions:

"A 20-year-old man who allegedly pointed a gun at a police officer was fatally shot by a police Saturday morning after a foot chase on the South Side, officials said."

I'm glad to see most of the comments attached to the story are positive and pro-police. The story could have turned out to have a much worse ending. Good to see that the officers involved handled it right and got to go home safely. Keep up the good work CPD and stay safe!

BTW: The offender's Facebook page, showing him throwing his gang signs (allegedly):

OT --

Curiouser And Curiouser department --

Now, of course, we know that "25-year-old Brittney Tysheka Haywood, CTA #53528" is the first in history to take a subway train up an escalator.

"According to Haywood's posts on social media, she just finished rapid transit operator training in late December." That's good. About the "social media," I mean.

But there seems to be more --

"[Transit Union President] Kelly told the I-Team he was unaware of Haywood's most recent arrest, on a misdemeanor gambling charge last September..."

"Most recent?" So how many PREVIOUS arrests?

Hmmm.

About the time our original thirteen states adopted their new constitution in 1787, Alexander Tyler, a Scottish history professor at the University of Edinburgh , had this to say about the fall of the Athenian Republic some 2,000 years earlier:

'A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always vote for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world's greatest civilizations from the beginning of history, has been about 200 years. During those 200 years, those nations always progressed through the following sequence:
1. From bondage to spiritual faith;

2. From spiritual faith to great courage;

3. From courage to liberty;

4. From liberty to abundance;

5. From abundance to complacency;

6. From complacency to apathy;

7. From apathy to dependence;

8. From dependence back into bondage'

Glad the copper lived. Some one should start a retired CPD blog or what ever you call these post places. The retires from the job and dispatchers would have reality show story's to tell. I remember the dispatcher Hank out of 20 on KUN-507 zone 11 in the late 1970's. Good Old Hank. Man he was good.

Anonymous said... Laughed out loud at Channel 7's account of this. Video showing the mob acting out with the police, then the grieving mother saying son was shot 8x's in the back, trying to turn his life around, etc. Then a friend commenting on the deceased's warrant and that being the reason he ran. And of course, the police "allegedly" saw a drug transaction and "allegedly" recovered a gun. smh. Just once I'd like an unbiased report. Just once.
______________
It's not a unbias report. The media isn't a judge and jury, sheeple just read in to it that way. The reporter wasn't there so the deceased ALLEGEDLY had a gun, ALLEGEDLY was scoped making a sale. The departments investigation report will clear up all that,but until then it is what is- and that is a cop made it home. Stop thinking your word means shit now a days just because your police. Times are changing, all type of shit has made people turn their noses up at police over the years and a news report is definitely not the sole reason why. Yeah Yeah Yeah, alot of complaints are mostly bullshit, but some aren't --fact. Those "some" is what has made people turn those noses. Pre-judgement is a bitch in this country huh?

3/30/2014 07:39:00 PM

FYI, all this 'alleged' stuff started as the result of a successful lawsuit against some media outlet long ago. "You can't say I did it until I'm found guilty" kind of thing.

3/30/2014 10:43:00 PM
Then let's start hearing the police "allegedly" shot the offender 8xs in the back. What's good for the goose. And if you can watch these segments and not think theres anti-police bias, you're not really watching.

That is exactly what it was, an accident, he fired without seeing a gun, just the radio call of man with a gun, he didn't want to give the guy a free shot. He told it just the way it happened and figured he would get fired and hoped no criminal charges. What would you do? Lie? Make something up? He shot a guy who turned out to be unarmed. Fucked up but he didn't lie about it. It was an accident. Why was the asshole running away from all the police and they were yelling for him to stop? Better yet, fuck you and your family dipshit.

"I live in the same neighborhoods of the people you mock..."

3/30/2014 11:08:00 PM

Good for you...
Did you ever figure out why the people we mock, get mocked in the first place?

For what it's worth... It's the nihilistic and noisy few who are the targets of our disdain.

You know... The nihilistic and noisy few who keep everybody tied in knots with their willful ignorance, shameless glorification and worshipping of death and destruction, artful and very much contrived avoidance of responsibility and self discipline.

They hear NOTHING of delaying gratification for worthwhile goals and all the other things that are an integral part of honoring one's contract with society and squaring onself with the true teachings of the Bible.

"Da fuck you you just say 'bout my Momma? Maannn... Fuck you joe... Finna call OPS on yo' ass..."

Is THAT the "making fun" you're referring to?

Please... Not only deserved but fully justified.

Even Jesus mocked and rebuked the willfully ignorant and hard-headed.

And while we're waxing Biblical; God punished Isreal for their sin in Exodus by causing the sinful generation to wander in the desert for 40 years until they were all nothing more than bleaching skeletons laying in the sand grinning sightlessly at the sun...

The nihilistic and noisy few will continue with their foolishness, victim mindset and embrace of poverty pimping by blasphemy spouting clergy taking money and favors from the plantation boss politicians.

Why are the rev'runs, "community activists," media personalities, politicos and alderfools all fat, greasy and shiny?

"That's racist!"

Mmm-Hmm... Of course it is...

"Don't nuttin' come to a sleeper but a dream."

Oh shit... That's racist too huh?

This is simply about why you and anyone else thinks the word "police" is pronounced any other way then anyone else around the country pronounces it. Not about community activists and revrunds or why they all seem to be over weight. Not about what we claim is racist and what isn't either. I assume that me using the word "mock" leaves you with the assertion that I believe you are a racist? Well, no. It's just that, childish mocking in your spare time. I have no problem with it. I just simply wanted to understand why the word "police" and "po-leese" is any different in pronunciation.

Deep in the sarcasm and mockery lies your answer... If you want to find it.

Whether it's an answer you think you'll be satisfied with is another story.

People literally cannibalzing each other on the streets and Policemen are venting because they get to clean up the mess and you present a word problem because you think "mockery" is somehow inappropriate?

You're intentionally trolling the wrong river... Your answer can be formed from reading some of the better cultural history books and a book or two on idiom & etymology because you won't be satisfied with any answer you get on this blog.

I'm glad the Officer lived, I have no doubt whatsoever this lil thug would have ended his life in a heartbeat if he hadn't shot him down. They have cleaned out his fb page and closed down his instagram but the pictures are still around. For instance: http://i.imgur.com/JdgCUe0.jpg Yeah mamma i believe ya. Good shoot, the community got a little safer.
