Another Million Pissed Away

  • Gun-rights advocates have delivered a one-two punch to the city of Chicago.

The first blow came on Jan. 6 when a federal judge ruled the city’s longtime ban on gun stores was unconstitutional.
On Thursday, the second blow landed when the judge approved $940,000 in legal fees that the city must pay to the attorneys who challenged the ban. Charles J. Cooper, one of those plaintiffs’ attorneys, charged $975 an hour for his work.

Cooper, whose law firm Cooper & Kirk is based in Washington, is also looking for a big payout from the state. He submitted a $618,000 bill for work he and other plaintiffs’ attorneys performed in a gun-rights lawsuit against Attorney General Lisa Madigan.
So as taxpayers, we're more than a little irked at this waste of money.

As members of most of these organizations fighting Rahm, Lisa and their ilk, we're glad they're helping to keep our membership dues down.

Now pay our pension you assholes.

State's AG blasts court ruling to allows Chicago officer accused of torture to keep pension

CHICAGO — Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan says she's "extremely disappointed" in a state supreme court ruling that will allow an imprisoned former Chicago police commander to keep receiving his $3,000-a-month pension.

**

Madigan had harsh words for the ruling. She says it will "allow a torturer and convicted felon to receive his tax-payer funded pension."

Pretty quite when it comes to a politician keeping their pension when they get sent up the river though?

So the City has to pay close to $1M to the other side for its legal fees. How much were the City's fees? Who did the work? What's the connection?

The real number for this no-gun-store fight is probably closer to $2M.

Uhh. It's only the chumbalone taxpayers' money.

As long as the money being pissed away doesn't come out of the politicians pockets this will keep going on. If the pols knew they would have to pony up the cash if they lose there would be no lawsuits. None.

Who would shop in a gun store in Chicago? Pay such high sales taxes? Hell, why even shop inside Cook County?

I would like to know how much money the City of Chicago and the State of Illinois have wasted trying to circumvent the 2nd Amendment? The litigation has been going on almost unabated for a quarter of a century and after the appeals were exhausted Chicago and Illinois continually came up on the losing side. One of the weirder lawsuits occurred when Daley tried to sue gun manufacturers on a product liability basis (arguing guns were too dangerous to be used safely).

As much as I despise Rahm Emanuel, I understand that he wants these lawsuits to come to an end because Chicago always loses and winds up owing millions.

So against the wishes of the citizens that put them in office, the Progressive Democrats fought for gun laws we absolutely didn't want. They spent tax payer dollars on unpopular Progressive causes THAT WE DIDN'T WANT!!!

Why are you voting for these criminals?

You have politicians and their lawyers who are supposed to uphold the Constitution and clearly violate it because they are socialists who hate America. This is what you elect in Chicago. Until you change that, keep paying.

Anyone in this state who votes for Lisa Madigan for any office really is an " low information voter". She has ignored all political corruption since she has been in office and there has been plenty of it. At the very least the members of the Illinois Legislature engaged in corruption for years in handing out " legislative scholarships" and the people who applied for them were equally guilty of perjury in their applications. Nothing was done to recoup the money taken from taxpayers. Out with her.

Oh hell yeah !!! These lawsuits are considered a "win-win" for the pols. If they win the case they're heroes. If they lose, they "fought the good fight" (without any cost to them).

Legal counsel was farmed out. City Corp Counsel doesn't have chops when it comes to litigation. Private law offices with connections to city hall wins hi dollar fees every time. Not connected - city wont pay the $900 hr fee.
It's not about the lawsuit, its about who gets the case to grab the uncontested legal fee. Tribute paid thereafter.

And the media keeps screaming about how the taxpayers are STILL paying his pension to the tune of three thousand a month. Um,no; that money was contributed LONG ago and his pension should be being paid for with investment interest monies, not 'taxpayer' money. (God, three thousand a month wouldn't even run my household today. I hope his family is okay.)

Democrat-
Commie Politicians of Chicagoland, QUIT wasting OUR Middle-Class Taxpayer Dollars on your UnConstitutional Firearms Registration Scams and Schemes. you know damn well they are UnConstitutional, and you've been slapped down time and time again by the Courts. you ALWAYS attempt to blame the inanimate objects, and Lawful Firearm Owners for your FAILURE to cut Murder and other Violent Crime in Chicagoland. You have NO Statistics to back up your Wild-Goose-Chases. QUIT wasting Taxpayer Dollars due to your Laziness to properly address the issue. Quit passing the Buck, and DO YOUR JOBS that the Tax Payers pay you to do. ALL the money you've wasted on this issue could have been used to hire Thousands of New Police Officers, instead of harassiing Lawful firearm owners, who've done NOTHING wrong, but due to your Childish Laziness, Stupidity, Incompetence, and Bull-Headedness, you persist with your childish ideas, instead of actually working for the Taxpaying Citizens of Chicagoland, and using our Tax-Dollars properly to defend us from the real Violent Criminals Gangs, and Drug Dealers,, which you've FAILED to protect us from, year after year, decade after decade. Your Socialist Agenda is obvious, and it is also a proven FAILURE. Enough with wasting OUR Tax Dollars, with your failed B.S.

THANKS RAHM!!!

(Maybe some more cameras. taxes, fines, and fees to be used as tools to hire political connected cronies will help eh? )

These Are The "Worst Possible States To Live In" As Ranked By Their Residents

It should come as no surprise that when Gallup recently conducted a poll asking residents to rank if their state is the "worst possible to live in" a whopping 25% of its residents, by far the most of any states, responded Illinois....

***

One in Four Illinois Residents Say Their State Is the Worst Place to Live

Illinois has the unfortunate distinction of being the state with the highest percentage of residents who say it is the worst possible place to live. One in four Illinois residents (25%) say the state is the worst place to live, followed by 17% each in Rhode Island and Connecticut.

Throughout its history, Illinois has been rocked by high-profile scandals, investigations, and resignations from Chicago to Springfield and elsewhere throughout the state. Such scandals may explain why Illinois residents have the least trust in their state government across all 50 states. Additionally, they are among the most resentful about the amount they pay in state taxes. These factors may contribute to an overall low morale for the state's residents.

Thank you, intern of Rahm. Nice try. Try to read the article again and see why you're so fucked up.

Do you think that the civil rights leaders should have folded in the 60's because the police were hassling them? We're talking about civil rights here, asshole. The same as the First Amendment, the Second Amendment is a God given right not to be fucked with by banana republic thinking socialist Chicago hacks.

Now go and fetch your fucking shine box. My shooting boots got scuffed kicking your sorry ass.

Careful on the pension comments.

You're naming your institutional price. Money worth something will suddenly be quite scarce.

For instance Federal Retirement backlog claims all time low.

They've placed their bets.
