More Free Stuff?

Honest to Pete, does anyone actually RAISE their children anymore?
  • Lunch money may be a thing of the past at Chicago Public Schools.

Under a relatively new program called the Community Eligibility Option (CEO) all school meals will be free starting in September 2014, the district confirmed to WBEZ Thursday.

Although the CPS initially rejected the program in 2011, it had expanded it to 400 schools by last fall.

This September, however, will be the first time "well-off" schools join the program as well. Entirely free meals reduce the labor of cash collection and tracking which students have to pay full and reduced prices for their food. This tiered system (with incentives for schools reporting higher poverty levels) led to fraud among CPS employees in the past.
We remember a time when parents (with a "S") had jobs, saved money, bought a house, clothes, even -----get this----- FOOD! for their kids to eat, bring to school, share. It wasn't even that long ago.

Cradle to fucking grave.

And, today, all over the news, the woman crying 'you got to give them something to DO, somewhere to GO', talking about teens who are just so ever-lovin' bored they go out and shoot each other because they've got nothing else to do.
GIVE them something to do? I wasn't even allowed to cross the street, but I still played tag, went to the library, read books, painted the fence, taught the dog to sit and stay, dug in the garden, mowed the lawn...

Nowadays, kids have video games, internet, free cell phones, nice bikes... but its incumbent on 'society' to GIVE them even more. Occupy them more, entertain them more, cajole them more, pet them more.

Why doesn't anyone, anywhere, just speak the truth? They need PARENTING. By their PARENTS. Real, actual parents, not the damn government.

Heres a dumb question. Isn't the amount of money a welfare recipient is given based on how many children they have. Shouldn't the parents have enough tax money for their kids to eat?

No parents don't really raise their kids anymore. The government does it for them. It's proven that the government can do a better job of raising a child and indoctrinating that child.

Better to let the government schools feed the kids. That way they will get healthy government approved meals. Who knows what unapproved food their parents might be giving them.

The McDonald Corporation Community Center was recently built in Roseland/Pullman area by Joan & Ray Kroc who gave the Salvation Army 110 million dollars to construct a spectacular sports facility...best anywhere of its kind anywhere. Several swimming pools, water park, fitness room, massive sport gym, jogging track, recording studio, chapel, senior and teen lounge, 30 acre campus and then there is the 40 million Quinn & Rahm gave to Olive Harvey College for a College to Career Center. College to Career Center!!! And a walk around the block too. Just pile on that money baby!!! Toss it out there, it means nothing to the politicians or the free-loaders, only to the working stiffs. Our Kids will be poor, broke and home-less. Lucky to grovel for food let alone be given free food and sports centers.

So, let me get this straight...

We have to feed these kids twice a day. You can't suspend or discipline them anymore. Many get paid by After School Matters to be in a club or hang out after school. If they get bad grades, it's the teacher's fault. Many kids with high double digit absences and tardies pass their classes.

I am not a Police Officer, but enjoy reading this blog and many of the post. For me it give me a real life perspective of the garbage that you see on a day to day basis. I remember as a kid (not that long ago) that if you didnt fear the Police you respected them. I knew the Police in the neighborhood and they knew us. It may have only been for under age drinking, but i would take the crack over being driven home any day of the week.

It was a time that kids learned to be adults by making mistakes not crimes and the parents allowed the Police to do their job with their help and mutual respect.

My dad a fireman and mother a nurse worked hard to give us the basics in life. They would wake us up for school and feed us breakfast. When we got home to an empty house because they were both working, we sat down and did our homework. They came home from work and mom made dinner; even if you didnt like what she made you ate it. Every day this routine worked and we grew up to be good adults.

I credit my parents, but have to give the Police that were around us credit as well. We were harmless youth and at the end of the day they wanted us to be good adults as well.

Free food, extended school, free cell phones, free healthcare, free housing, free bus fare, special scoring on test for jobs. What has that got us as a society. Nothing but a group of citizens that have never learned how to transition from a child to an adult and conform with society and the rule of law.

Give them sandwiches and they will want steak. The more you give someone the weaker you make them.

Little off topic, but this rant could go on and on.

Since participation in the "low-income" food program was the gateway to free high-speed cable internet at home, does this mean that every chilun automatically gets hot broadband now?

I am paying over $70.00/month for slow Uverse service and a sometimes-working phone -- not even TV.

Saw someone in a fine, newly tuckpointed bungalow, new roof, satellite dishes sticking out all over, new cars lined up on the new driveway, polishing his big new Harley -- "eligible" for free lunches & free internet...

I asked if I could borrow a chilun just for a few hours so I could get hooked up too, but he said naw.

Sounds fair to me. After all, Ezekiel Emanuel says that I have had a "complete life" by now and should receive no further care or attention of any kind.

El free high-speed streaming Communo-educatio-consumero-porno en Espanol would seem to be the wave of the future.

Today there is no day or night anymore...and the children are frightening, hardened adults while the adults have become crying, don't-know-what-to-do children.

We already pay for dinner. And lunch. And breakfast. That used to be called Food Stamps. Not it's a card that you can use to buy filets and lobster if you want. Or about anything if you go to the right store.

The government is a far bigger slave owner than all the plantations in the South before the Civil War. Only the slaves don't know it. And these slaves don't have to work. What's not to like about the arrangement?

In their bleeding heart efforts to make sure that the country "ends poverty", the liberals have managed to create a class of people that have zero responsibility and depend upon the government for everything, while voting themselves more and more to "redistribute wealth". And yet no one in the liberal camp seems to think that this is a problem. Let's throw more money at the problem. Let's get more programs out there, more bureaucrats, more handouts. Let's not demand anything of those "poor souls". After all, all of us "rich" white people made them that way.

I grew up in the 70's, in the projects. We had school in the damn trailers. No breakfast but we had lunch and it was not much. Never classified ourselves as poor. Hundreds of kids playing and the only time I heard gunfire was on New Years Eve. Sure there were gangs but it was not like today. What am I saying is, another post about free breakfast gets people riled up and pissed off. Do you realize that this is a forced situation upon parents today, they have no choice in the matter. And also, none of the kids eat that shit. It is some of the worst food I have seen. When my kids attended CPS breakfast was there but believe me, even Cook County inmates would not eat it. Sorry to be long winded but this is all a scam. Do not believe the parents want this.

Parents are merely breeding stock (for increasing the numbers of Democrats in too many areas). According to one previous First Lady of the US, "it takes a VILLAGE (of hard working tax paying slobs) to raise a child." And one of her compatriots - a talking head on MSNBC - recently stated that children "belong" to the government. Because children are government chattel, it is clearly up to the government to provide them with food, housing, clothing, indoctrination (a.k.a. education) and later, a cell phone, transportation and more indoctrination (a.k.a. a college degree from a left-leaning college or university). As long as their minds are cleansed from those racist, sexist and noninclusive ideas regarding personal responsibility and self-reliance, the children will be hailed as "our future" by every prog pol at the podium and will be guaranteed to have high self-esteem because part of the indoctrination has been to tell them daily how special they are, regardless of what they do.

This tiered system (with incentives for schools reporting higher poverty levels) led to fraud among CPS employees in the past.
