Two More Assailants Shot by Police
- Chicago Police fatally shot a 16-year-old boy in the Gresham neighborhood this evening, one of five people shot by Chicago officers since early Friday morning.
The shooting took place a little before 7 p.m. in the 8700 block of South Sangamon Avenue, said Fraternal Order of Police spokesman Pat Camden. Another person was shot by police and wounded in the buttocks about 9:15 p.m. in the 7000 block of South Hermitage Avenue, according to police.
Of course, no one understands why he got shot:
- Robinson’s mother, Georgina Utendahl, expressed frustration with officers at the scene, who she said gave her no information about the shooting.
“The police killed him,” Utendahl said. “Why they killed him, I don’t know.”
We'll give everyone a guess why:
- Police caught up with the boy and he began to get out from under the car, still holding the gun, and officers told him to drop the gun, but he did not, Camden said. The boy's hand was still on the trigger of the gun and when he did not drop the gun, police shot him, Camden said.
Police recovered a small .380-caliber semiautomatic handgun at the scene, Camden said.

- She acknowledged that he’d had trouble with the law and went to school at Beacon Therapeutic School, but didn’t think he was a “notorious gangster.”
At the same time, he would sometimes accompany his grandmother to church.
“He was a good young man,” Utendahl said. “He didn’t deserve to be gunned down.”
He went to church occasionally, don't you know? And he wasn't "notorious" or nothing. Except for that "gun" thing, he was just a kid......with a record.

Officer Perry Renn, 51, was pronounced dead at a local hospital shortly before 10 p.m. local time. Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department spokesman Lt. Christopher Bailey told The Associated Press that Renn had been with the IMPD for nearly 22 years.

I know this is not the first time a blogger has written about the bias of the media.
How do you compete against the bias? How do you show up for work every day without worrying that you will be the next target of the media's wrath. Just over a decade ago a police officer's biggest worry was for his physical safety, not polls show its for his legal/financial safety.
Had this "sixteen year old boy" been able to get a few rounds off and hit one of our officers, the media would have grabbed that football and exploited it for their use, but down the road at the "boy's" trial taken up the cause for him.
To the members of the media that are reading, you are not just perpetuating the problem in these violent areas, you are pouring gasoline on them. Sleep well at night knowing you have blood on your hands.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement will no longer use the word “alien” in its references to illegal immigrant minors who have been apprehended without their parents at the U.S. border, according to an internal agency email.

Mayor Emmanuel and Superintendent McCarthy took away your city wide units when they downsized the police department. They replaced motivated young men and women that wanted to make a difference with older officers making time and a half that wanted to make a little extra money.
This act accomplished two glaring problems that the two of them just refuse to acknowledge: It helps under fund our pension and makes your police department way less effective.
Your police department is now full of tired officers working too many days. You will get the nay sayers on here, but I am relating my experience with the officers I work with. They are not filling up VRI and many coppers working it are doing the bare minimum when they are there.
YOU CANNOT RUN A POLICE DEPARTMENT ON OVERTIME.
It is less effective and dangerous for the officers working it and for the officers working with them. I don't want to hear "I haven't had a day off in 22 days" from the guy sitting next to me when he is responsible for my back.

As much as it pains you, Chicago Policemen tend to show restraint way in excess of what the law and general orders require. You can place the blame for that directly at the feet of City Hall and local media.
Should the "Great Correction" come, CPD should be re-booted to being a much harder department when it comes to use of force and adhere strictly to 1961 ILCS which is considered too harsh and grants Police too much "authority" by those devoted to keeping CPD curtailed and constrained.

I am retired and away from the city but I still keep in contact with friends on the job. Some have had 4 days a month canceled plus VRI days plus court.
At the net FOP and PB&PA meetings members should bring up and push for a BLUE VOTE project. Every cop, firefighter and their family members and friends registered and committed to vote.
Make these politicians hire more police, give us the equipment we need, ensure our pensions, protect our neighborhoods and most important FEAR US.

I'm a student at WIU writing a paper for a summer session law enforcement class. My paper is on white Chicago street gangs. I have a lot of info on early gangs from the turn of the century up through the 50's, but nothing recently. I am retired and away from the city but I still keep in contact with friends on the job. Some have had 4 days a month canceled plus VRI days plus court.
At the net FOP and PB&PA meetings members should bring up and push for a BLUE VOTE project. Every cop, firefighter and their family members and friends registered and committed to vote.
Make these politicians hire more police, give us the equipment we need, ensure our pensions, protect our neighborhoods and most important FEAR US

I have a lot of info on early gangs from the turn of the century up through the 50's, but nothing recently. My father is a retired PO who worked in 7 and 1 and he said he never had any contact with white gangs. I went to chicagogangs.org and got info, but I'd like to know what were the white gangs like and why aren't they active anymore.

There were lots of white punks and white gangs, nothing like the black, Mexican and Puerto Rican gangs of today. I can only recall a few, Gaylords, TJO's (Thorndale Jagoffs), Insane C-Notes, there were more but memory fails me.

Good luck fellow leatherneck. If your looking for white gangs look for insane duces in carneyville, and the popes which started in the 009th district. The reason you don't find much is because they are all dead, in prison or have 12 kids. If you google gang shooting 009th district armour square park in Bridgeport. There was an article about the pope gang banger who shot a 14 year old kid in the foot. I think it was in 2008 or so. Also check out Gaylord gang members in the north side.

Actually, the truth is, they assimilated themselves deep into the fabric of CITY OF CHICAGO GOVERNMENT, or established front businesses that made off with a truckload of city contracts. Why bash heads for a living when you can cook up such things as Greylord, Silver Shovel, Hired Truck? It's easy money, and until someone turns on the lights and exposes you for what you really are, no one even knows, or acknowledges WHAT you're doing.
That's what happened to the white gangs in Chicago.

He does not "have a team." He is relief, he has more time on the street that you have on the job, and is a good man. Listen to him, you might learn something.

Don't quite get what you are saying. I'm tired and overworked because they cancelled 4 of my days off. But I'm not too tired to work VRI on my other days off. If you are so overworked dont work any VRI

To the WIU student doing his paper on White Gangs, These were aw more from the 60s & early 70's, The Gaylords were a white gang from the Grand & Ogden area, The Lazy Gents from the Grand and Damen area, The C-Notes, from Ohio & Leavitt. Simon City royals, from up north around Kimball and Addison.
To the WIU Student - go talk to OPS on campus - Chris Jagelio - they have a copy of the CPD gang book - has all the symbols, tactics, and other information on the gangs currently active in Chiraq...
They share it with SRP, and it's supposed to be confidential, but if you're an LEA major, you might be able to get a peek at it...
CPD are the only ones trying to fight gang violence. But if a cop defends him/herself they automatically treated as guilty. Bullshit.
