WBBM Picks Up Story
Mike Krauser from WBBM NewsRadio was trolling here evidently:

- Joey Mathews can still name all five men convicted of killing his father, Chicago Police Officer John Mathews, in Hegewisch 26 years ago, and he’s furious one of them has been coaching youth baseball in the same neighborhood, years after finishing his prison sentence.
WBBM Newsradio’s Mike Krauser reports Joey Mathews was 4 years old when his father was beaten to death by a group of young men near Wolf Lake on the night of May 21, 1988.
There really out to be a good turnout tonight.

Never forget . You can bet that I'll be there . This officer made the ultimate sacrifice . This is the least we can do . You can bet there will be words exchanged . We are a family at times a dysfunctional one but hey what Irish family isn't ?. A little levity . You are not forgotten keep watching over us keeping us safe bud .

Channel 5 ran with it last night.
Abc 7 did a story but said dean Chavez "has no intention of seeking his coaching position back"...guess they do not troll here or else they'd know that is complete BS
E-15 fuel is a witch's brew concocted by the Devil himself. It is bad juju for motors, more expensive and your car will get less power and lower gas milage on it, until the motor dies. Small gasoline engines like lawn mowers, outboard motors, weed whacker engines, chain saws etc. quickly die with a steady diet of E-15. Besides it has been proven to be bad for the environment, but good for ethanol plants. No wonder the EPA likes it.
The word got spread wider - a good thing. He might be trolling but he's not a troll.
How in the world can this happen? That a cop killer who beat a man to death is still not rotting in prison. This man and his cohorts did an evil act to a good man and yet he is now roaming the earth as a free man, enjoying life with his friends and family. This should have never happened.
I saw John's remains when they were brought into the morgue; in almost 40 years in police work, I have never seen anyone beaten that savagely. RIP John.
After reading the link to the case details, exactly what "extenuating" circumstances are they citing to excuse giving them the death penalty, let alone life in prison? That case was open and shut, especially after forensic testing showed blood on the offender's clothing belonged to John. The whole community should be absolutely outraged.
The turnout will be big.
Channel 5 tv news also did a really good piece on this story last night. Surprising but they did. Only serving ten years for killing this officer is an insult. He had a family and small children. If we made these heinous fiends do ALL of their sentences we would have a whole lot less crime on our streets. Prayers with the Mathews family.

This is one instance where the term "trolling" doesn't fit. This story deserves to be picked up by the mass media.
How can a scum pos like that get only 11 years for killing a police officer? That pos and his scum buddies should have gotten 110 years hard labor in a 2x2 cell no air conditioning.
No tv, no sunlight, 1 meal a week, 1 shower every year at best. Forget amnesty international when it comes to killing a police officer.

Channel 5 last night had a nice sit-down with young Matthews... and snapshot quotes from parents who found out about the murderer.
OT: a Palatine man arrested for agg battery after punching a man during a fight outside a Palatine bar has had his charges upgraded to murder after the victim died ten days later. Lets see how this one plays out Richie....
Fucking media. This has been a story for two weeks. You know what they say about leading a horse to water? These fucks have to be dragged and almost drowned before they get involved.
Those of us who err working in 004 in those days remember every detail. It was horrible. I'm away or Id be there.

There was more than one of them, a group of 5 thugs killed him. The responding units didn't recognize him and he worked in that district.
Good job, he's gone
Cook Co. Sheriff's Police Officer Michael Ridges #380 murdered 17 Oct 85(father-Captain John Ridges-CPD/Retired/now deceased, brother Sgt Jack Ridges/Retired-CPD). Arrested by CPD 016 Dist P/O's Tabaka, Ochocki and Kucharski within minutes due to Mike calling in his stop). Thanks again and again guys....and again!)
Two of the three savages involved in his slaying were out to commit a hit on an the ex "friend" for lack of batter words, of the City of Chicago-City Clerk at the time John Annerino...
Point being two of three savages are out, have been out for years!
I'm sure there's Google info out there for the whole story if you're interested.
RIP Mike-NEVER forgotten!
only in Illinois can savages beat a person to death with bricks and baseball bats and only serve 10 years on prison. it also galls me that Dean Chavez is attempting to portray himself as a victim in this.
GFY Dean Chavez
Wow, the Sun-Times goes above and beyond to bash police.
rotten sob, explain how come he only did 11years?
This pos getting elected to the hegewisch little league was in the comments on this site and true news on September 19, 2012! How were the parents in hegewisch ok with this for two years and now because the son of Officer Mathews brings it up people are outraged. I'm outraged at the parents in hegewisch. A lot of them are the police and should have demanded that this murderer not be allowed to coach little league. I'm so glad I moved from that shithole.

I'd rather hear "Dean Chavez has no intention of sucking in another breath". Yeah, I'd like to hear that.
Why is the bastard out. Fking Unreal
NBC had this scrolling on the bottom news feed during the Today show this morning...
Cook county Illinois.
That is all that need be said as to why low sentences were handed down.
It's now on YAHOO news nationwide. Under pressure, cop killer Dean Chavez resigned.
Rest In Peace, John Mathews, Chicago's Finest.
Your dad is very proud of you, Joey!

Hit nail right on head, SCC. I know "heartbroken, shattered, scarred for life" too. No matter how much booze and tranquilizers and "counseling" and so forth, every day when you wake up your family member is still gone and they are never coming back.
You "try to keep busy" double-hard, pick up the pieces, build a life for yourself, and still every day you say a prayer and lay a flower in front of the family picture and cry.
Jeez, this POS should not be bouncing around the old neighborhood like he was some kind of movie star. At least "move to Montana and become a dental floss tycoon," to paraphrase Frank Zappa. If you're not doing the time you should be, just get out of decent people's sight and quit rubbing salt into the wound.
Crawl away, motherf___er. Crawl.
So when is the undoubtedly Russian character who pulled the trigger on MH17 going to get his medal, pension, new name and papers, and free apartment for life in some quiet spot far away? People are now seeing dogs "running from the crash site carrying something in their mouths." So bad they must have frantically used a dozen cans of that squirt-foam "gap-filler" expanding construction sealant around the door of one of the rail cars moving the looted bodies of the victims -- the stuff dripping and oozing all over -- and people were still holding cloths over their noses and throwing up...
"Only serving ten years for killing this officer is an insult."

OT, but there was just a story on WBBM radio "Noon Business Hour" about this yesterday. What's good for Archer Daniels Midland is good for America, right? Keep those 10,000 foot tank car trains rolling...
Now yank that starter cord until it finally snaps off...

Years ago, they decided it was better to have a sergeant close cases than a police agent. Lowly officers or agents weren't deemed capable of signing off on a case. (Mostly the lowly ones did the surveillances and investigations, then the sergeants signed their closing reports. No idea if that's changed or not.)
Leave it to the justice system of the people or the justice system of smith & wesson, i pick smith & wesson. Anyone that can commit such a vicious, cold crime should bnot be breathing our air or walking on our soil. Shame on the justice system we uphold.
Where's the list
Off Topic
http://politics.suntimes.com/article/chicago/list-shows-two-convicted-cops-were-topic-dozens-complaints/wed-07302014-1030am
The Slum times has posted a list of Officers who got 12 or more CR#s during the period of 2001 to 2006. As I look at this list I see a lot of unit people who tend to get more numbers due to their assignment and the district Officers I know who are pro-active and make a lot of arrests. most of the numbers are non-sustained.
I thought our CRs were supposed to be purged after 5 years?
How can this happen? Why did this happen? Police Officer was viciously beaten to death and some Judge did sentence them to life in prison? Who was that Judge?
Patti Blagojevich is his friend on Facebook .....WTF!!
A sad example of cook county justice but not surprising, look at the shoddy job prosecuting richies P O S nephew.
OT: Officer Fatally Shot, Person Of Interest Apprehended
Update: Authorities have arrested Brian George Fitch, the person of interest in Wednesday’s fatal officer shooting. Officials say they are not seeking any other suspects.
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A Mendota Heights police officer died Wednesday after being shot in West St. Paul, and police say they are searching for a person of interest.
The shooting happened just after 12 p.m. near the area of Dodd Road and Smith Avenue while the officer was performing a traffic stop, the Dakota County Sheriff’s Office said.
Mendota Heights Police Chief Mike Aschenbrener confirmed the identity of the officer as 47-year-old Scott Patrick. Aschenbrener said he was with the department for nearly two decades, and was a father to two teenage children. He died at Regions Hospital.
Aschenbrener also said they are still seeking 39-year-old Brian George Fitch Sr. in connection with the shooting.

Off topic: The names are out!
within the first 25 pages I found 5 merit Sgts recently promoted in the last two classes.....
Each had over 35 CR numbers!!!!!
35-----and u make merit Sgt....
WTF.
I saw Dean Chavez on the news and he said he just wanted to "get on with his life." How dare he say that and why should he be given that opportunity? What about P.O. John Mathews getting on with his life and his family getting on with their lives? P.O. Mathews didn't get that chance and the lives of his family members were changed forever. I am sure it was not the life each had envisioned. And I guess that Dean Chavez's life was not what he envisioned either, but then he made a choice to participate in the murder of P.O. Mathews. Dean Chavez deserves nothing more than to live each day of the rest of his life seeing, feeling, and paying for what he did. And I can't say much for whoever hired him to be a coach, and so very glad that he never coached my kids. Nothing like a thorough background check. May Dean Chavez rot in hell.

They need that many to staff the 10:00 meeting in the workout room.
The Sun-Times list is nothing; there is another site called: invisibleintelligence.com, and they are listing specific allegations and dispositions. And what stands out is that most of the complaints were Unfounded or Not Sustained! Past contracts told us that after a specific period of time "unfounded" allegations would be expunged from our records. Instead they are now open so that attorneys can pursue or create "patterns". Not to mention the divorce attorneys who will now use these allegations to leverage child custody. The FOP needs to produce records on the Complainants. Who are these citizens? Has the state ever charged them with crimes? What were those dispositions? We need to fight back with counter suits against anyone who cannot get a sustained on a complaint. It's time to show Unity; ONE WEEKEND OF BOYCOTTING SPECIAL EMPLOYMENT, VRI, ETC. JUST AS WE ONCE SHOWED UNITY AND MARCHED AROUND CITY HALL AND BUSTED LIL DICKIE'S "LYMPIC" FANTASY! JUST ONE WEEKEND, OF UNITY AND WE COULD SERVE NOTICE TO RAHM AND MC NUMBNUTS. The FOP should demand the names of every complainant on a Not Sustained, Unfounded or Exonerated Complaint.
Good work, men! The board resigned. Chavez didn't even show up (wisely).

what no one mentioned is that there are several police officers that also coaches on that league..
Some parents at the meeting, held at the reception hall of a neighborhood tavern, said they did not believe the resignations were necessary.
A parent from the Babe Ruth Baseball league, From the Trib this morning
“I was not here about Dean Chavez or for Dean Chavez. I was here for Hegewisch Babe Ruth,” said Lori Zlotkowski, the mother of two current league players.
“The men that were asked to step down were out at that field daily, hourly, constantly. Working with kids, working on the field," she said. "I understand they want the kids to have good role models; they just got rid of several good role models.”
Really!?!? I'm assuming she has no f*kin clue as to what occurred! Unbelievable!!!

We finally won one. Just read the Tribune online addition. All the board members resigned. Coach is gone and so are all the board m,embers, maybe now the league can start from scratch.
Shame on the police who supported him
Nice turnout at Steve's Lounge. The Board did the right thing and resigned.
Was there a protest somewhere last (Wed) night? I want to attend.
RIP
I was serving in the Army during that time period, wasn't aware that this had happened.
According to the reports I read, it sounds like he wasn't armed when he encountered them (at least there was no mention of them making off with his weapon in addition to his badge), which is a shame.
It would have been nice if it had gone the other way and there were 5 less douchebags out there to worry about.
He would have been totally justified in plugging every one of those dicks.

Does that conflict of interest mean he can't issue him a pardon?
Though Pat Quinn was the attorneys name, it's not the same man. Phil Cline was the detective that worked the case though and did a great job. Many cops did become members of the board and as each pushed to have Chavez removed, they were kicked from the board by a 3/5 board vote. Dean had friends on the board to make sure that happened. Jamrock didn't show at the meeting, and when they were originally contacted about Dean stepping down, instead of understanding, they told Dean they had his back. The tribune reported a very misleading story to the circumstances claiming "alcohol abuse" insinuating Mathews was drunk, and while he had a BAC of .08 (a beer at home on his day off, this was the extenuating circumstance) he was not legally drunk, whereas the attackers had been drinking all day and some had been doing cocaine at the party before the murder. The tribune also claims Mathews waved his gun at them. Upon being approached by 5 men aggressively moving towards him, he pulled his weapon and identified himself. It is also understated that the Chavez brothers grew up a block from Mathews. They knew him and knew he was a police officer.
I moved out of Chicago 9 years ago and I can't stand it when they try to claim suburbs (other counties also) as CHICAGO or even CHICAGOLAND.. I am 40 miles from CHICAGO and don't even have the same rules as CHICAGO or COOK COUNTY for that matter.. Heck Chicago even goes into IN and claims some of it's cities as CHICAGOLAND what's with them anyway??? and the stupid media goes along with it..
