- After getting arrested for driving a stolen U-Haul truck on his own time, Kevin M. Austin was fired from his job as a laborer with the city of Chicago’s Department of Streets and Sanitation.
That landed Austin on City Hall’s “do-not-hire” list, a roster of 492 crooked alderman, bribe-taking bureaucrats and other public servants whose misdeeds cost them their jobs.
Austin went on the list effective Nov. 17, 2006, the date he was fired. But Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s administration rehired Austin on Dec. 4, 2012, as a truck driver for Streets and San — a $63,777-a-year job he was fired from on July 24, after a Chicago Sun-Times investigation found he was working for the city despite having been on the “do-not-hire” list for years.
Is that a "do-not-hire" or a "do-not-fire" list? Because we've seen plenty of the latter in a whole bunch of city departments.

Typical clout Bullshit, I've filled out several applications for various city jobs, I have 20 years experience in the transportation field and fill out apps for jobs I'm qualified for only to get a email deeming me not qualified. So now I'll start filling out apps for jobs I'm not qualified for. Fuck it always wanted to be a medical director.
Come on, the guy is connected and besides that was 6 years ago prior to him getting hired dude. It's the Chicago Way.
And let's not forget J.D... (a streets and san guy that was forced to leave?) who is Ald. Pope's right hand (BAGMAN) man at a nice salary.
p.s., just last week Ald. Pope was at that Babe Ruth meeting in Hegewisch to manage the outrage of that police killer. Whom Pope sponsored for that position six years ago.....
Pope forgets a lot, just like his sponsor, Mayor Daley.
I guess Jimmy Maurer won't be our next boss.

Speaking of adding to the list, there is a strong rumor at the airport that about 6 high ranking clout babies are being looked at by the feds, including the about to be former commisioner.
Kids with no arrest records apply and don't even get a call back . Fn crooks ,vote them out. .

People need to go to jail who cares if it's only for a couple hours or a night in jail. Bottoms line people need start getting locked up. Forget about these contact cards and anovs, that they just rip up in front of our face. Officers are being told no arrest in 011. These younger kids coming on the job are being taught the hands off approach to policing. Which is totally a wrong way to police these animals.. get back to the hands on approach and locking these people up.

What about cross-referencing CPS employees with criminal records, especially, security guards, Safe Passage workers, coaches, and 'non-certified' staffers? And, volunteers too!

In NYC I had heard it's the bigger the Rabbi the more clout you have.
$63000 a year to drive a truck. Yes it's retarded that he was hired again, but infuriating the city is paying that much to drive a truck. Almost as infuriating as the average CPS teacher salary of $75000. Don't get me wrong. I believe in the idea of unions, but when a teacher or truck driver is making the same or more than a first responder, that union system is broken.
(OT) don't know how they are doing it or where manpower is coming from, how management spots, get your dialing finger ready looks like mass transit, airports are getting ready to fill spots before story airs on manpower vs how many are assigned, federal money!

Here's a thought.
Imagine the million$ that he city will be paying out when someone on one of those lists is denied employment or something else because a prospective employer saw such a list.
It was lawyers who wanted the CR list published.
Someone on the list could even set themselves up with such a situation.
Little Tom Thumb should not have been on the police department, firstly the height requirement failure.Secondly ignorant little jag dose not even have a High school diploma...
And we are surprised by this?

He was in charge of the Aviation Police at the airport and was by all accounts from the people out there was doing a very good job.
Then he asked the fatal question:
Where is the money going?
At this point, they set him up and fired him on the spot. Also started some rumors about him.
He sued, according to rumor, the judge told the city they were screwed and now its awaiting settelment.

That must be the manpower piece where that reporter was spotted at the airports talking to coppers! Wonder when it is going to break? Heard sweeps week I think that's in October! Airlines pay big fees for police, typical Chicago way!
I'm not from Chicago and it may be a common thing in Chicago, but God Damn! $63,777 to drive a garbage truck!!! For one year?!! No wonder so many people get shot in Chicago, they're trying to eliminate the need for garbage truck drivers! I'm assuming they're paid by the city taxpayers, of course. Anyway, less people, less trash. Keep on shooting!
A former copper who was fired years ago and part of the do not hire list can be found driving around in the 11th ward in a city garbage truck. And yes, he is an 11th ward regular clout hack.
