ISP Coming to Town

Remember:
  1. CPD is at full strength;
  2. Even if we aren't, we aren't using the manpower we have efficiently;
  3. VRI is going strong - over 500 officers hired back weekly;
  4. 150 house mouses are going to work Monday thru Friday and save us all;
  5. Dart has sent sheriffs to patrol the city, too
  • Chicagoans could soon start seeing a new law enforcement presence in some parts of the city.

    The Illinois State Police will send 40 troopers to join Chicago police as part of teams that will try to catch fugitives, Gov. Pat Quinn and Mayor Rahm Emanuel announced Wednesday.

    The specifics of the partnership are still being worked out, and its impact remains to be seen. At a minimum, the cooperative “surge teams” could be politically helpful to both the governor and the mayor as they run for re-election at a time when Chicago’s violent crime remains a major issue.
We wish that they'd pick a lie and stick with it. It's so difficult to keep the stories straight of shortages and OT initiatives and  everything that goes along with this fiction.

And a word of advice - if Rahm doesn't like it when people refer to "Chiraq," then he probably shouldn't use words like "surge" as that conjures up all sorts of images of the actual Iraq War and insurgency. We're just saying....

If only the progressive democrat judges and democrat state's attorney cared about the people of color in Chicago. 40 or even 400 state police will not make a difference, keeping 400 criminals in jail will make a difference.

If they really cared, they'd make sure that criminals like Jerome Harris were locked up safe in prison. If only these uncaring democrat racists had done that, Jerome would be alive today.

It's just a joke too Rahm he doesn't want to admit that CPD and CFD is under staffed, he lives in a fantasy where he thinks we have a enough police officers and fireman. Maybe he might wake up from fantasy land and decide to give CPD and CFD a budget to start hiring officers and fireman over the next couple years, instead of hiring low numbers that's not keeping up with retirements. I hope he wakes up one day and hopefully sooner than later. I've been wanting to be a Chicago police officer since I was a little kid. I'm on the eligibility list now,so I stay positive that one day I will live my dream.

We all know he's probably going to win in the mayor election not to far away so let's hope he realizes by than, if not citizens of Chicago need to petition the city to hire, if he won't allow it ( We The People) should stand up against him.

I remember when an ISP Troopers car was torched near Grand and Austin. They put a gang task force together and we (025 Gangs) worked closely with them, including Sgt Rigo Montez. They were a very good crew of professionals that worked hard. I was amazed that they insisted on wearing their vests on the inside even when it was 90+ degrees. Nice folks. I'd work with them again anyday!

What's old, is new again!

Quinn and Emanuel are both liberal Democrats >>> FACT

The whole Cook County Justice System (elected officials, judges, prosecutors, parole board, etc.), is in place because the liberal Democrats slated them for election >>> FACT

These liberal Democrats can't seem to release convicts fast enough from our prison system, creating special early release programs, plea bargains, reduced charges, reduced sentencing, etc so that these criminals can return to society to use the new criminal skills they learned in prison on our unsuspecting population >>> FACT

Now, these same liberal Democrats are trying to make the weak minded voters of Chicago/Cook County/Illinois think that they are suddenly trying to clean up the crime by inventing these new units and beefing up old ones in the ISP, DEA and/or CCSP in order to try to cover up their mistakes TO BEGIN WITH!

I hate these frickin politicians ! ! !

unless there's one officer assigned to each citizen (hmm ... oh wait, we aren't former alderman) then police rarely 'prevent' crime. they help find and lock up the criminal AFTER the crime. as long as the city looks at crime as a police issue, it won't get better. police help those in need, and help solve crime, and occasionally intervene, but nobody really wants to solve the problem. oh well.

What happened to the 12 feds that got deployed at the mayor and supt request? Just what we need more front row spectators.

Remember if you are qualified and actually work in a district, you will NOT be selected for any special unit. All you are expected to do is to write a parking ticket, write case reports, contact cards, and work your full 8 1/2 hours pushing your beat car and be happy. Anyone who strives for more, and who isn't family connected, will never be anything more.

She is a Court Services Lt.(bailiff) with some obviously heavy clout.

You guys at CPD need one thing and it's not more cops, it's to let you guys take the gloves off and to let you guys actually do your work. There is too much shit getting in the way of you guys doing police work. I feel for you guys but if necessary, I'll be standing right next to you.

Most ISP Troopers act and look very professional, but we need street cops. Cops who know how to work the streets. We don't call our traffic unit off LSD to work conflict zones in 7. In talking to some troops it seems they have the same problem we do with their bosses. It will be interesting to see how this plays out. Watch your 6 o'clock out there and don't lose sight of the true objective, that is to go home safely to your families!

House cats , office workers with guns might work 20 hours a week . Replace them with part time civilians or retired police officers . Equal pay for equal work , to many female police are house cats , weekends off , straight days because the have children . Put them on the 3rd watch a here they belong . Hire some civilians to replace them .

Will never happen. Has become a tradition with the CPD and neither Rahm or McCarthy can or will change that.

Why take these troopers away from their needed duties and families for a month? That amounts to about 22 working days. What a farce!

You want to send a message to the hood!
Bring in the Illinois National Guard's 33rd Brigade Combat Team, with all of their combat vehicles, and send them to, 003, 005, 007, 010, 011, and 015.
Keep them until Christmas.

ISP is a well-trained agency that has done a lot of good work. I've seem some good troopers and very good work, especially serious accident reconstruction and detailed crime analytics. They're also not adverse to recruiting people with special skills when needed instead of a "one size fits all" model for candidates.

That said, the street crime that flows daily in and between Chiraq and Killwaukee requires specialized skills as well and maybe officers from Evanston or Waukegan (or even Racine or Kenosha, for that matter) would be able to relate better because they see the same genre of dirtbags every day (although to a lesser extent).

It is an insurrection out there and the days of going it alone are gone. It might make sense to bring in outside help but for God's sake pair them with CPD rather than have them out there by themselves.

Back in the 70's this once-young wheelgunner from the boonies used to ride with CPD friends on occasion and I quickly learned that, well, there's shit you face and do that we didn't see and couldn't do. Having guys and gals who run radar and bust drunks in Belvidere isn't going to be terribly effective and they could either get hurt or in the way.

CPD will never get 80% unless you want more taken out of your check during your career. As it is, the pension fund is hurting. You want to drain it more and faster? Good luck.

The L.A. Police Department has been able to keep its numbers low for that population because their Sheriff's Police actively participate in all aspects of enforcement including Patrol of the City and Gang Enforcement. Chicago because of politics could never use that model, but it is refreshing to see the Sheriff exercising Patrol Enforcement. Their Presence Matters, and their officers are decent guys and gals.

ISP on patrol I chicago is for votes from blacks , not to protect citizens . How many arrests have been made by the office police in the last four days.
150 officers on patrol for four 8 hour days , there should be a minimum of 300 arrests , 600 moving violations ,1800 parking tickets and 1,000 FCC cards .
No numbers will be released by superintendent , because activity is probably 150 contact cards .
Keep them on the street permanent ly , hire civilians for office assignments .

As many of you guys in 5, 22, 11, and 2 know the ISP has always been playing in the sandbox with you guys. We have for years now. This is just a political stunt to make it more of joke. The ISP quietly does its work and hardly ever asks for credit when hanging out in the city. Stops are made off the Ike and Ryan daily and many troops ride on CPD calls. Don't stress about it. The local troops will be alright. The downstate troops who work Decatur, East St Louis, Peoria, and yes, even Springfield, know how to deal with shitbags and will be safe too. We all have Tasers, good training, and are not afraid to use any of it. This is a great way to share experience and knowledge so the ISP can combat Chicago idiots statewide and it will show CPD we are not just here to beat off. We are in this together. Let's make it a party and have fun with it.

Respect to all in uniform. It will be fine. See you next week.

I have the upmost respect for our Ill. State Troopers, say what you want but these officers have a hazardous job, stopping assholes who you don't know anything about 10-989 on dark ass highways without any backup, no telling how long before help arrives, Anytime I see a trooper on the side of the road I always slow down and make sure they are safe, I have only been stopped a few times in all my time on the job and it was my own fault, mostly speeding a little over but I was always given a courtesy. On duty I have worked with them on a few combined efforts and always had a good time with them, When they first started working the X-Ways there were a few tense moments when CPD off duty got ignorant when they were stopped, but that quickly ended and they can't say enough about the help we give them out there. They are well trained and I would go thru a door with them, beside they have an ex CPD boss, Hiram Grau, a real prince, too bad Rahm fucked up and Grau backed away.

Hate to say this, but yes the Il. It is really too too bad that our hiring process sucks, Tracy Ladner FUCKED it up royal, pulling that Bullshit that Military vets and coppers kids won't do. WE hire thugs just because of their color, It is an insult that as large as the pool is that we can't find the best out of any and all ethnic groups. Next our training facility is a JOKE, no discipline from the staff, just coppers who don't want to work the streets, female instructors dead set against doing anything but yelling and acting all bad ass only wanting to collect a check. then we have a command staff that doesn't know how to control the men under them, and finally dog ass Sgts. who are afraid to get down and dirty in the trenches, lead by example and stop thinking you are a general. Take a look at the cook county sheriff's training site at Triton College, it rocks, they know how to train.
