Cost Comparison
Maybe the Chicago media can jump on the bandwagon?
Someone pointed out that the 3rd of July fireworks were cancelled a couple of years ago. That cost how much? Under a quarter-million at last estimate (excluding police overtime). And it entertained a million people - minimum. It also went of without a significant hitch (the display, not the wilding afterwards).
Saturday night's total attendance was 30,000. Figure that one out.

And, a lot of those million people at the 3rd of July fireworks were also buying tickets and spending money at the Taste.
But were they 30,000 of the right people?
30,000??? I have worked many games at Soldier Field and also worked that shit show on Saturday and I can tell you without a doubt that there was no where near 30,000 people. Maybe, just maybe 30,000 people came and left after seeing what a cluster fuck it was turning out to be.
If there were 30,000 people out there, I'm the Easter bunny. It was around half that.
Somebody tell Rahm you can't count the people who were out on dates downtown, the cleaning crews on their way to or from work, or the people (or folks) curiously peering out of their hotel windows.
Has there been a hitch, or significent problems with recent wildings?
WGN news initially reported approx 20k people via their live newscast.
This was Rahm' s baby. It couldn't have turned out better.
They are stating the weather kept the people away. And technical problems.
NO KIDDING, is was February cold out all day on Saturday. It was Raining on and off. And they held this event somewhere where no one could watch it. Sound Like St Jude parade!
The money should have been spent elsewhere. Like planting roses in the Daley park. At least we would have something to show for it next year if they are not stolen.
maybe they meant 3000??
what a joke
its that famous fuzzy math thing

Most definitly they were from the left - mainly friends, family, and supporters of Rahm and his machine.
Vanecko or Rahm's brother must be heavily involved in Saturday's taxpayer fleecing.
Rahm says he's going to do it again next year. He certainly knows how to spend tax money wisely.
Look for the money in any contractors' pockets.
"Mayor Rahm Emanuel presents the John Wayne Gacy Extravaganza!"..Little known fact about JWG,he was Precinct Committeman for the Democratic Party and he was allegedly assisted in some of the homicides by a relative of well known and powerful Chicago Alderman...
kind of O.T. Do any officers see any Safe Passage workers out and about any more or are most, as I suspect sitting at home collecting $92.00 a day.Another huge waste of tax-payers dollars that should have been used to hire more Police Officers. God bless the CPD.
god forbid something real and serious ever happens in this city, Rahm will be caught with his pants down, an understaffed CPD, and 9.5 up his arse...
then I cant wait to hear the FAA ask him what his back up plan is.
And he said they are going to do it again next year? What a bafoon. PLEASE, we need this jagoff out of office ASAP! He can take his worthlees, rubber-stamping Alderfools with him.
So rahm announces that the Great Chicago Fire Festival fiasco will be given another chance. Of course, its the Chicago way; if it doesn't work the first time do it again . . . Convicted felon, let them out early. Corrupt polititian, reelect them. Poor construction on new government facilities, rebuild them and the list goes on and on and on.
There were no 30,000 watching that Fire Fest...this stupid fiasco better be stopped for next year and forever...fire and water don't mix. Only a bunch of nit-wits could think up a stupid plan to enhance their own pockets to the tune of $2 million dollars....heck, it all went up in smoke at taxpayers expense and Rahm took the bait...He sure is No Leader!!!!

That's how Rahm counts...... wait until he unveils his full version of Rahmenomics
Burke called it a fiasco. Good for him for speaking the truth. He suggests some 2 or 3 hundred thousand taxpayer dollars go to a charity (instead of to the Redmond Theater)if the City is gong to just burn money. Rahm is such a pathetic figure he is willing to sign off on crap in order to burn money in the river so that he makes friends with the developer...how do Citizens stop this?? 'Specially when the City is 'broke'. That's what they tell us about pensions or benefits, we're broke. And now for the Argyle Street story...they are getting "Woonerf" next week...Another stupid idea...this one from the Dutch in the 1970's. The City will bring up the street so it meets the curb...drivers will "Share a Street" so they can be partners with Non-Drivers...Jane Byrne did that in the 80's on State Street and the business district went to poop. We got enough poop in this City without adding more!!!

On a side note, Rahm lists his height at 5'10.
