Police Shooting
Seems to be a lot more of these lately - they run in fits and starts:
- A man was shot and wounded by police officers Saturday night in Englewood, authorities said. The man was shot about 8:16 p.m. in the 5800 block of South Morgan, police Deputy Chief Dana Alexander said.
"Englewood District tactical officers were on patrol when they responded to a call of ‘man with a gun’ in the 5800 block of S. Morgan," according to a written statement from the police department.
"Officers observed a man matching a radio description flee on foot to the back of a residence," the statement said. "Officers gave chase and confronted the subject in a rear of the residence. Officer observed the offender holding a weapon and ordered him to drop it. The offender did not comply, at which point officers discharged their weapons," the statement said.
A lot of bosses giving statements to the media ahead of Pat Camden all the sudden. Is this some new policy? Beat the FOP to the punch?

"A lot of bosses giving statements to the media ahead of Pat Camden..."
Well...
That's because the media whores have been doing a lot of crying about the eeeeeeeevil FOP "always" giving a post shooting synopsis favorable to us hateful, brutal union member churls whenever we drop shots "for no good reason" at a turning his life around honor student...
"We need to know what the Cops did wrong so FOP won't be able to cover it up!"
...And other such similar shit indicative of feverish lefty loon thinking.
Aye... So wistfully wishing "Big Creepy" would crawl through the right media member window at 3AM...
"I'm not in Chicago so I'm safe!"
>Snicker!<
No the fuck you ain't by a long shot...
Danger is best when those who think they're so above it have to take a big, nasty unexpected gulp of the stuff.
It is shameful that an organization that is supposed to be representing its officers is abusing that trust in order to screw every last one of them.
OT. I am a younger officer working in 015. I and others are amazed to hear the stupidity and blatant disrespect to supervisors going on in 025 3rd watch. The dumb comments, trying everything possible to get out of assignments, etc. Its gotten old guys and its embarrassing.

Didn't you hear about the new head of IPRA??
He's an ex fed and that was one of the first things he wanted to change. He didn't see why the first statement people hear about a shooting should be coming from the FOP and not the department.
Yes it is. Thanks 9.5
Fortunate to have the police uninjured in yet another incident.
I pray our good fortune continues vs. the law of averages.
Stay Safe our brothers and sisters.
Wasn't the tact team. It was Fugitive Apprehension. Great job once again boys!!
None of those bosses can match Pat's tan and perfect hair. So there!
Scary. Hope some merit hack don't pooch it
I noticed that. Just what we need, having a boss prejudge an officer's actions.
Great job FAU! Bad guy down, no copper injured, good day.
I was on scene. Excellent job by Fugitive Unit. PO and Sgt from 007 did great job at the scene.
go figure, walking around with their thumb up their ass's
The Media will spin the details whichever way they want, for sensationalism and ratings, so really, what difference does it make who relates the basic details to them anyway?
Great job overall. Fugitive Apprehension with the great shoot, and the Bosses and po's in 007 did great job securing crime scene. Proud to be part of the CPD.
I think it was under Weiss that the rules were changed and no one was allowed to give a statement concerning police shootings. Prior to that any boss or even Ops could give a statement. No statement should be given period. Especially that early in an investigation. If Camden states something that is not in the reports or differs from the reports you can bet that he will be subpoenad by the defense when you get sued. There is no need to give out any information to the media until the investigation has been completed.
Yes, the head of IPRA is an ex-Fed. But he's a former DEA Agent...not FBI. Historically, the DEA and the CPD have had a much better relationship, mainly because the DEA isn't tasked with investigating allegations of civil right's violations. So don't blame the "ex-Feds" on this one. The DEA is a very CPD-friendly organization and has been since the Phil Cline days.
O.T.
I heard team policing is going citywide. Maybe opening up a post on the pros and cons.
It may help, from what I heard, that shootings are down in the districts it was implemented.
I am being told there will be a new policy coming out that IPRA will be asking the deparent to strip officers involved in shootings for at least 30 days pending they're investigation.
where were the bosses? when that sergeant was beaten up in that parking lot garage during the 2:00pm hour off the day in the heart of downtown Chicago!
Abandon those areas of doom. Fence them off let them care for themselves.
Coppers in Highland Park dropped a guy early Monday,,,,it's all over the place these days
++++ '....the 33-year-old man’s mother had called the police ... because he had fired shots inside the home. ... The man’s father leaned out a second-floor window and shouted to the police that his son had a gun ... the man put the gun on the stairs but then reached for it and was shot three times. ...' ++++
Another genius who didn't follow police commands and winds up dead. Doesn't anyone in Da Hood listen to at least a bit of news about all the other mental midgets who've done this? I'd think that *Urban Radio* would report on the subject.
Plus it'd be in some conversations in *the community* among home boys, e.g.: .........
"Yo Bro, ya hear 'bout LaQwuan. Dude went for his gun and po-leece capped his ass, he be dead bro. Ya'll gotta drop the piece when dey tell ya man. Ya feel me?'
But how long before some scum sucking lawyers like Loevy & Loevy get to the family, they recant what they told the cops, or get in on the new fad and claim Excessive Force was used; 'Why'd they have to kill him, they should have just shot him in the arm. Why didn't the po-leece just use a Taser. He really wasn't a 'violent' boy. Blah blah blah.'
After all it's likely their only chance to get in on the Ghetto Lottery.
It's an extremely dumb a$$ move by the department to make statements about on-going investigations. When it jumps up and bites them in the a$$, they'll stop doing them. It the stupid media who is pressuring 35th St to make statements. If they don't get information, the media resorts to making up stuff they need to print a story. God forbid the media should use any of that college education.
Oh wait, I forgot about the Northwestern School of journalism. Never mind!

We have a couple excellent supervisors ( DC and JS) and a few bad (CH, SM, and EE) . But it's the actions of a few knuckleheads that's ruining it for everyone in 025
Notice that all comments from the Department are in police-ease terms. You will never hear a CPD source say the officer was "in fear of his life or the life of another." Using those terms would infer the shooting was "justified" and that is what IPRA is afraid of. Why would an officer shoot someone without being in "fear" of his or an others life? Over 98% of the police involved shooting are in fact "justified". It takes IPRA months to make come to that conclusion. When IPRA completes their investigation, not only is it old news, but the results are not released. When a police officer has to use deadly force to protect himself or another, the public has a right to know the relevant circumstances as soon as possible. We don't have trigger happy police officers in Chicago, we have thugs who have no respect or fear of the police and they refuse to drop the weapon. When that happens, the offender pays the price. Without the basic facts being released you can wind up with another Ferguson.
OT:
Bears lost by 3 points yesterday!
The PO from 008 who was involved in shooting at 41st Pulaski last week was stripped, even though G Mac himself said it was a good shoot,IPRA demanded he be stripped,G Mac said no but rumor has it tiny dancer called and that's why he stripped him,PO now at callback with no charges or cr#,is this the norm now if your involved in a shooting you get stripped no matter what? WTF
Great job FAU. Glad you guys are ok. Stay safe.
great job my fellow officers and stay safe and to bo n eric holder A BIG F-CKYOU
The DOJ alumnus at IPRA is still upset that the leak of the store robbery info in the Ferguson MO case put a wet blanket on the expected outrage there. IPRA will tell you all you need to know, if you let them. Never two sides, only their side.
One of the better moves from the union of all time. Don't stop/slow now.
Given the new concealed carry law in effect, a man with a gun call shouldn't automatically be treated as a crime. Even the law allows for partial visibilty of the weapon.
Great job guys. Glad your unit got expanded.
Dean Angelo is putting Mike Shields back on the board as past president tomorrow at the board meeting. I do hope this is a bad joke.
Younger officer do what your suppose to do and answer to your responsibilities,it's nothing new, eventually you will have the time and seniority and set a better example,my last 2yrs of 27,I did exactly what the boss asked of me and, had no regrets, but some officers asked why are you doing the work and your in the kma club,my reply was if I don't do this easy ass job someone else will, and maybe even you, moral of the story....my Capt retired a year before me and hooked me up with a number of part time jobs that occur maybe 3 months out of the year, collecting a pension and making a nice income to take the wife on a nice vacation and still having all the free time in the world, all because I didn't buck the system, and after its all said and done some people remember you!
Too damn bad. That is our union, who represent us, like attorneys speak for shitheads, they speak for us in such situations. They don't like it, who cares. Hell with em. Boo hoo hoo. Ever since this Ferguson shit and before even, the word of cops means diddly. Sad. The extensive background exams, interviews and tests we all go through to get hired that determine and judge that we are of sound mind and strong honest character do not mean anything anymore. The word of the mutt is taken as near gold nowadays. Sad.
When it comes to Dean Angelo nothing is a bad joke. I mean, seriously, if he's not selling us out to the City, canceling nearly every arbitration since he took office, let's his B & S firm run FOP then I'm sure he will put him on as past prez
Everything that the prior FOP's done for coppers Dean has done everything to fuck their decisions on everything.
It's circus monkeys up there that have no idea what's going on. Pitiful
Has anyone ever called there and spoken to Ray? Now that has to be one of the dumbest guys I have ever met. That's Deans right hand man though. This FOP clan is going to ruin FOP
Keep in mind that if bosses give statements before FOP spokesmen Pat Camden that's because of Dean Angelo and his clowns. Everything has to be approved by the FOP clowns first and being those fools are not the sharpest knives in the drawer they take awhile to approve what Pat Camden releases to the press.
Remember when Mark Donahue did all of FOP's press releases? Why is it that if Deans a doctor that he can't do them for FOP? Oh wait, because he got his PhD from a Cracker Jack box.
Yea brothers in blue be very careful & hope that our brother who was stripped in 008 gets his star back! The dept & society want us to conduct ourselves like glorified security guards God forbid you do your job! I completely understand why dogs are dogs they avoid all d liberal & political bs because now it's all about just making sure you keep your damn job looks like we
Don't hav any support not even
From our dept so sad because I love this job & love being the police but can't do much of
That without thinking if this dept will throw you under the bus for Doing so!
O.T. But very urgent news!!!
I am a police officer in the 011th district assigned to 03rd watch. I voted for Dean Angelo and listened to his campaign speech in our roll call.
Having received the latest newsletter I wanted to bring attention the clearly anti-police and liberal agenda of Sen Bill Cunningham of the 18th District which encompasses the South Side neighborhoods of Beverly and Mt Greenwood where I reside. I believe endorsing Cunningham was a great error for the FOP and will lead many to vote the WRONG way on Nov 4.
State Sen Bill Cunningham voted the following:
HB 183 Concealed Carry -- No...
HB 3499 Firearm Waiting Period Exceptions -- No
SB 965 Speed Cameras -- Yes
SB 2621 Granting Early Release of Prisoners from IL Dept of Corrections -- Yes
HB 203 Limiting 1 Gun Purchase/30 Days -- Yes
In addition he also voted FOR SB1, which every union was AGAINST, including our own I believe, which diminished pensions:http://www.beverlyreview.net/news/featured_news/article_15624c24-61b3-11e3-baef-001a4bcf6878.html
Not only has Bill Cunningham voted against gun rights, he has voted to put CPD and CFD retirees on Obamacare, has voted to reduce pensions (while collecting two of his own), he has also voted to reduce the sentences of criminals we so tirelessly work to incarcerate. He even voted AGAINST requiring photo ID for LINK/EBT cards. When you analyze his voting record you will see there is very little deviation from house speaker Mike Madigan, who is no friend to the FOP or working policemen.
Bill Cunningham's entire voting records can be viewed athttp://votesmart.org/candidate/key-votes/127803/bill-Cunningham
A far better candidate that has our pensions and best interests in mind is Shaun Murphy who is a republican and running against Bill Cunningham
http://www.murphyforsenate.com/
I hope Mr. Angelo had a chance to interview Mr Murphy as well. There could not be a WORSE endorsement for the policemen on the South SIde of Chicago than Bill Cunningham. If there is still time I hope there is a way the FOP can reverse the official endorsement of Bill Cunningham and notify the union members so they don't make a horrible mistake in punching his ticket. I have never met Sen Cunningham however I am taking the time to write this letter so that members can be better informed on the serious dangers Sen Cunningham provides to the FOP, CPD Pensions, and overall law enforcement in general.
5 years on and don't want to shoot anyone , but will to protect myself , partner or citizen of chicago .
Will Cps , reverends please conduct a class that teaches young men to obey the law , no guns pointed at police or citizens or you will be at medical examiner . Do not resist arrest and you will not be tasered , pepper sprayed. Hit with asp ,baton or put in a choke hold .
Teach these young men to obey the law .
Life will be better for them , police and citizens of chicago .
Dean sucks, enuff said
Our union....... That union is a joke. Have you spoken to any of them there? They all beat around the bush when you ask them a question. They have no idea what the answer is....
Off Topic:
It seems RAHM is passing out contracts again.
To fund head start programs for "kids".
Goldman Sachs, Northern Trust and the Pritzker Family Foundation to more than double their $17 million investment over 18 years.
Now why doesnt RAHM offer these deals to the pension funds of firefighter, police, and teachers?
Double investment over 18 years???
That is DOUBLE AS in 17 million!
Unless RAHM has a kick back in place with theses three companies eg. they will donate large amounts of cash to RAHMS chosen charities.
But the media are pretty simple minded and will think this scam is legit. Who would pass up a guaranteed investment backed by bonds the city must pay.
May be that guy i voted for as trustee for our pension funds can talk with the sgt and lt. and figure out a play for this scam cash?
Please get out and vote tomorrow. Also No To All Judges.
I am being told there will be a new policy coming out that IPRA will be asking the deparent to strip officers involved in shootings for at least 30 days pending they're investigation.

That means you get fucked out of working special employment and other possible side jobs?
FUCK DOING POLICE WORK !!
See the bad guy?
Turn your head and look the other way!!
I rather get paid my extra $2000 a month for doing NOTHING !!!
"The PO from 008 who was involved in shooting at 41st Pulaski last week was stripped, even though G Mac himself said it was a good shoot, IPRA demanded he be stripped, G Mac said no but rumor has it tiny dancer called and that's why he stripped him, PO now at callback with no charges or cr#, is this the norm now if your involved in a shooting you get stripped no matter what? WTF"
Is this true?
Please, more info & comments are needed.
Was this PO stripped for Justified Use Of Force by IPRA demand? No CR#? IPRA is in charge?
Where is FOP??? Is stripping OK provided the PO is getting paid?

Is it just me or does anyone else notice that there are a few of these "younger" officers commenting on here lately? Like the one who doesn't like his job, or the other posters like that. Seems suspicious.
The shooting was done by 007 Tac not FAU
The PO from 008 is stripped due to the fact that the CCSAO is reviewing the case and YES there is a CR# issued to ALL shootings.. Read your orders kids.
This FOP is too stupid to try and cover anything up. If anything it's Pat Camden's intelligence that knows what to say and what not to say. If it was up to this FOP they'd fuck us directly and I directly. Luckily we have someone intelligent speaking on our behalf. Unless these jerks fire Pat Camden too. They're on a roll up there.

FAU!!! Not a chance, it was 007 tact... FAU came in after the fight was over! So go sell your shit story somewhere else.
Hey, at least Cunningham is a nice guy!
who cares who did the shooting!u will b at ipra and sued!not to mention the blow and piss testu had to take!THIS JOB AND CITY DO NOT SUPPORT THE POLICE!!THAT IS THE BOTTOM LINE HERE!
Its was 007th District tact guys involved in shooting. They did a great job !!! Glad they came out unharmed !
A good shooting and a CR is automatically issued and the Police Officer is stripped and sent to purgatory forever...This bullshit..

Don't forget, Dean was voted into office by a majority of police officers. The majority wanted him in that office and those same people cursed Bill D. unmercifully. You voted for him; you got him; now live with it.
Agreed, everyone judged Bill for what Mike did when they shouldn't have. He was the best man for the job and you all voted that SMURF in office so deal with him screwing everyone. He's no papa smurf either he's that little lying pip squeak smurf you just want to step on!
Ipra is an incompetent organization that needs to be disbanded. A handful of decent investigators the rest are lying inept criminal pieces of shit.
Anyone call FOP lately? Curious if your experience was as bad as mine..... Pitiful
I called there today n wat a joke. Someone turn back the clocks, I'll take shields back over these guys in office. At least there was reps there that were intelligent n knew wat they were talkin about. These guys, uggggg
