This is a Bold Statement

  • New Cubs manager Joe Maddon told reporters at his introductory press conference Monday at The Cubby Bear that he won’t shy away from talking about the playoffs and the World Series.

Even with a team that hasn’t won a championship since 1908.

“I’m gonna be talking playoffs next year,” Maddon said. “I’ll tell you that right now. I can’t go to spring training and say anything else. You have to set your goals high, because if you don’t set them high enough you might hit your mark, and that’s not a good thing. We’re gonna talk World Series this year, and I’m gonna believe it. It’s in our future.”
Aim big we suppose. We'll believe it when we see the owners spend some actual money on talent.

So do you go to spring training saying we're not going to make the playoffs? Well actually maybe you do if you are Robin "Goober" Ventura.

The George Lucas Museum proposal looks like the cooling tower of the Michigan City coal & gas burning plant in Indiana. George, a Californian by birth, was tossed out by San Francisco officials cause he wanted 'The' top spot at the Ocean-Front. The Trib says Rahm 'wrested' George from there...not so!! Lucas is a large Egotist...he'll be gone and this 'museum thing' will be left to smudge up the magnificent Lake-front. Move that Lucas Museum to another site!!! And vote, it counts.

They say pitching wins game. But it is runners on base who score that put runs on the score board. If the Cubs ain't got the sticks, they ain't got the runs. No runs, no wins. No wins, no playoffs.

Pitching is an integral part of the defense to keep the opposing team from putting runs on the scoreboard.

Combine a team that outscores the opposing team on a consistent basis with a good defense and the playoffs will lead to a World Series Championship.

The Cubs need to invest in people who can hit and get on base to score.
For 2014 the Cubs BA was .239 v. Opponents' .252. The Cubs had a total of 1,477 SO compared to Opponents' of 1,311. The Cubs put a total of 614 runs on the scoreboard compared to Opponents' 707. BA and OBP can tell you a lot about a teams chances of successfully making the playoffs. Based on 2014 numbers and 2013 numbers, the Cubs ain't got a snowball's chance in hell of making the playoffs, unless they change personnel in the off season.

The Cubs will always be the lovable Cubs

Move it to the Richard M Daley Sewage Treatment Facility or right smack in the middle of Englewood. They need jobs. Melody Hobson can do something for her people while she is taking care of George.

Look I am not a fan of either team here. But I can tell you one thing for certain.

You can take the best of the 1927 Yankees, the Red Machine of the 1970's, the pitching staff of 90's Braves, and put them in Cubs uniforms and they will still lose.

Call it a curse, bad luck, stupidity, or anything you want but you can not go that long without winning a series unless there is some serious shit hanging over that team.

And Maddon seems like a great guy and he will make a lot of money but he will not win a series here.

You can count on that.

But somehow you have the balls to anonymously call him a piece of shit.

The Chicago Cubs will take their place as the next Chicago Dynasty Team. (Go Cubs GO... GO Cubs Go... Hey Chicago whata you say the Cubs are gonna win today.... LOL eat ass Sox fans...

The Cubs are making good moves. These past few years really were rebuilding. The entire organization, minor leagues on up. They were stockpiling draft picks. They are in a good position to start having some good teams. They have a good front office. They will have a good rehabbed facility. Good young players. Money for a good free agent or two. You doom and gloom guys, this is it, this is what you have been waiting for these past decades. Watch, I finally am feeling optimistic about this team.
