Cops Don't Kill Black Man
- A man was charged with assaulting peace officers after pointing a gun at police early Sunday morning, according to a news release from the Chicago Police Department.
Officers responding to a burglary call in the 1900 block of South Trumbull Avenue at 4:17 a.m. Sunday found Bernal Eubanks, 39, who matched the description they were given of the burglar, police said.
Eubanks refused to follow orders and then pulled a gun on the officers, police said. The officers got the gun away from him and took him into custody.
Eubanks, of the 3300 block of West Congress Parkway, was charged with two counts of aggravated assault to a peace officer, one count of trespassing and one count of unlawful use of a weapon.
The police won't get nearly the amount of credit that they should for not killing this jagoff, especially considering how much grief they would have gotten had they (justifiably) shot him.
And once again, no word from Garry if the felon had an FOID card or a Concealed Carry permit.

Hate to Monday morning QB this thing but we should never be wrestling guns away from people. This could have gone very badly for the officers. Not to mention that now the liberal s will be pointing to this case as the perfect example of why cops don't have to shoot people.
Outstanding discipline and tactics on the part of the officers. A well done for them. They didn't shoot/kill this idiot.
Yeah but this was only in the news for a second. If the officer killed the black shithead we would be hearing about it for weeks even with him being found with a weapon in his hand.
I wonder how many black armed man are not killed by police because police make a split second decision not to pull the trigger and keep running towards the armed black man putting their lives in danger. Oh you don't because that's not honorable in socities eyes but it is.
Be safe my fellow officers and don't let the news dictate how you do your job
charged with two counts of aggravated assault to a peace officer.........will be dropped
Good result. However, don't think this will happen every time.
Body cameras, the need is there. Footage could keep you out of the media shark tank.
He should be in a body bag
If this doesn't let the public know that the police are hesitant to their job then I don't know what does. Thanks to politicians condoning riots after police shootings and the media ,who romanticize anti police agendas by their slanted coverage of riots and protests. The police have become hesitant to make a life and death decision in the wake of Ferguson , Mo. and Baltimore , Md. The beat officers or first responders don't want to get thrown under the bus by some asshole politician who has no clue on how to do the job of a police officer , especially a big city police officer. No copper wants to lose his/her job or be incarcerated to please the citizens of the ghetto , who will not take responsibility for any poor choices made. With that being said the citizens of this city need to ask themselves one question.....If the police won't shoot a burglar ,who is armed with a gun and pulls that same gun on the responding officers, will the police shoot a bad guy/girl, who is pointing a gun or shooting a gun at you??? How out of control can this get ?
I don't care if the offender pulled a gun on police. He was "unarmed."
What Mama say, what the whole crowd on the block yell out, is now coming true in the word-world that has supplanted physical reality.
It is as though some vast new Black Privilege has been granted by the pronouncement of some addled emperor, strolling in the gardens of Versailles -- a pinch from the gold snuff-box! -- completely isolated from the everyday.
You can even grab an officer's loaded service weapon and beat him in the head with it and still be described as "unarmed."
"(CNN)A Birmingham, Alabama, police detective who was pistol-whipped unconscious said Friday that he hesitated to use force because he didn't want to be accused of needlessly killing an unarmed man.
"Details of last week's incident in the Birmingham enclave of Roebuck remain sketchy -- such as how did the suspect get the officer's weapon..."

I am sure there is a lot more to this story. What was this guy doing there in the first place? But, one thing for sure, he is a total asshole for pulling a gun on the police. I am sure that if the police had shot him his family would claim that they know for sure he was unarmed and he is in the process of turning his life around.
Is this what the public wants? Police afraid to draw their weapons. How much do these officers have? I'll bet less than 8 and that being generous.
Like they keep telling me.
Don't get out of the boat.
Should've been on a slab at the M.E.'s office the next morning

I wasn't there either -- but it is a simple fact that disarming someone who has a handgun is a chillingly dangerous business, probably best attempted only in extremis, in a toe-to-toe fight for one's life when an attacker has somehow gotten the drop.
As the Gentle Giant discovered, a trained and resolute man who intends to retain his weapon in order to protect himself and the public may very well kill you -- not to mention grappling with some criminal idiot far lower down the bell curve who is quite likely to go banging off at anything and everything in the area as a matter of course.
>shudder<
Stay safe, all.
Why would you trust them in the future to pull the trigger, especially if it was to save your life. I don't want a partner that is afraid to shoot somebody that NEEDS to be shot. If you can't shoot someone that's trying to kill you, then quit and get another job. Police work isn't for you.
18 AUG @ 10:39 hrs.: Point well taken. The Birmingham incident illustrates how the POTUS & the media have tried to neuter law enforcement. The social media's coverage shows how no true citizen would intervene while the savages thought that they were gladiators in the Roman Colosseum.
Now that our CPD officers have to wear the round crown hat - they should put a photo inside the plastic sleeve of their family or loved one or even their pet if that is what they come home to after surviving another shift. Don't let a non-law abiding POTUS or a non-truthful media negate your will to survive.
You can't protect us if you can't protective yourself/your partner/other officers first.
Retired & thankful for your efforts.
But...but....BUT....the gun wasn't registered!!!!! Fuckin' douche bag!!
Are you sure that this took place? No mention on any of the media outlets.

But being legally justified, they very well could have.
Unfortunately, the Progressives, the "Mob" and the
media will fall all over themselves pointing at this as
THE MODEL of modern Police "restraint" and de-escalation
in dealing with catered-to constituents publicly displaying
Illegally possessed guns while "asserting their right" not to be bothered
checked or impeded by The "Racist" Po-leece who are obviously chasing
down on the streets and slaying every stray black male they can find.
"Y'all Po-leece be the ones that gotta back-da-fuck-up
an' de-escalate off us an' shit!"
Ain't the Culture of Death wonderful?
Isn't willful ignorance sublime?
The wild, out of control, racist, rebellious,
retiring too early, sweet pension having,
not getting "punished" for racking up lots
of (baseless) complaints Cops are to blame for everything.
If you don't know that officers have lost their lives already because they hesitated "to be sure", then you haven't been on the job long enough. This isn't TV and it's not easy
Glad no officers injured or killed and good arrest. Hope the charges stick though. What I hope even more though is that these officers didn't hesitate and came out of this lucky. These days you can't help but be worried about a split second reaction costing you and your family everything. One thing that must be programmed in the brain is that a gun in the other guys hand equals your death (or your partners). Your death equals a family in ruins. If a shit head has the stupidity to pull a gun on an officer, he has the stupidity to pull the trigger. Let them be the one's to make the mistake by pulling the gun not you be the one making the mistake for not pulling the trigger! He took this situation to that level not you, your doing your job and duty to all by doing what's necessary to stop it. Son of slain cpd here, do all you can to avoid what happened to my family happen to yours! One day, it may come down to that split second decision. God be with ya's
Well, was it a registered gun?
Well the lib's tamed the police to charge an armed felon. Thank the good Lord they were not shot. Yes, the Jag off, as the honorable SCC called him, should be at AR Leak and Sons icebox, and the most very Reverend Jesse coming to the West-side to have his attorney sign up the bereaved Jack-Off' play mama and three daddies for the lotto ticket - I think the family would of won the pick 4 -straight box- $2.00 quick pick.
Surprised the west side is not hitting the streets with cop puts gun in brother' hand and takes a knock down by CPD.
The good Lord was with these great CPD guys when they took him down. As usual, 3 years of paper after the prelim.

Work safe. Drive safe. Get home safe. That is what matters.
"Retired & thankful for your efforts."
Thankful that you took the time to come here and share your sensible thoughts with all. Our retired guys and gals have so much wisdom and experience, all gotten the hard way, and I feel so bad sometimes that I did not get to hear more; like a whole set of encyclopedias that got lost. Come on out and pass it along, I would sit up all night just to (pass a bottle) and listen respectfully to the stories, as with tradition going back to the ancient warriors, if only some of the officers I was privileged to know were still with us.
God bless, and may your days be free of cares and worries. Enjoy each new day of life; each one is a priceless miracle, even if you just get up and water the plants and make a cup of tea.

Yes sir, you are correct...that split second might cost you your job and career in these days of War On The Police, or it could cost your life. Best, I think, to do everything you can do to make it home OK. You can't fight anything from the grave.
May we set aside what the media and the agitators say, and act as the good Lord gives us to act in any situation we may encounter, based on what we know and can see right then, and not upon what outsiders miles away might say later. My favorite prayer -- "God, leave me out of this. I have worked hard to develop my skills and my knowledge and my judgment, but I am only human. Whatever the obstacle, may you instruct and inspire me. I give myself that you might act through me, seeing as how I am the one you have set standing here to do what must be done in our physical world.
"Thy will, not mine, be done."
So sorry for your loss. Hopefully, good will come from it, to you, your family, and others -- multiplied an hundred fold.
Maybe they told him to drop it and he complied, or he dropped it on his own volition, or he just tossed it aside, hence they got the gun away from him. All about semantics, Kids.
Sounds to me like the officers should be put in for a life saving award
