Weekend Numbers Are...?
Even the media can't keep track of the number fudging. Here's Saturday's report:
- Three men have died and at least 12 other people have been wounded in separate shootings since Saturday afternoon across the city, police said.
- At least 14 people were shot, including two young children, in shootings across Chicago since Sunday afternoon, police said.
So...3 dead and 26 wounded? The Trib appears to be using overlapping times, whether by accident or design, we can't tell, but it makes it obvious that the only trustworthy source of violence numbers is the HeyJackass website.

- A 6-year-old girl was shot and seriously wounded Sunday night in West Englewood on the South Side.
She was outside about 8:40 p.m. while two people were fighting in the 5600 block of South Bishop when one of them pulled out a gun and opened fire, according to Chicago Police.
A bullet struck her leg and she was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital in serious condition. She wasn’t the intended target, police said.
Yeah, thanks for that. Very few 6-year-olds are targets.
- A 7-year-old boy was shot along with a 19-year-old man Sunday night in Belmont Cragin on the Northwest Side.
About 8:45 p.m., they were in a car in the 2500 block of North Parkside when another vehicle pulled up and someone inside opened fire, according to Chicago Police.
The boy was shot in the shoulder and the man was grazed in the head.
Out of control.

Well, the people have issues and sometimes those issues can only be settled with a gun. Oppression and poverty factor into the mix.

7 year old boy north side and 7 year old girl from the south side! Both on the same day hat a way to go back to school and let your 3 grade classmates know what happen to you over the Summer in this cess pool of a City of Chicago!
Heard it on scanner. The adult that was shot with her (grazed) would not talk to police and left after being treated by paramedics 5622 Bishop. Scum of the earth. Obviously he was the target. After several minutes the info on shooter was finally given out by witnesses. No onewould talk. All you non-police who read this blog and don't believe it, buy a scanner!

Shootapalooza 2015 ended up leaving 3 dead and another 37 wounded. Sunday's 23 shot was the second most in a single day this year, only 7/5 had more with 35. There were also a two "mass shootings" (according to the Fed's definition of >=4 shot in a single incident) this weekend that will no doubt garner massive wall-to-wall media coverage.

The fella from Heyjackass is my source of truth when it comes to Chicago shootings. The Tribune/Suntimes are always wrong - or they'll phrase it in such a way there it's "11 shootings overnight" without telling you what they define as "overnight."

Things that make you go Hmmmmm.
Those figures pointed out above would almost lead one to the conclusion that certain segments of society are responsible for over two thirds of the violence.
I think I just heard on WBBM that crime is down 40%. I gotta hand it to ya Gerry..

the Belmont cragin shooting with the 7 yr old and 21 yr old getting shot were riding in the shot up vehicle with none other but the gang banger father of the the 7 yr old. Classic to observe the fatherly love that Ol' boy showed his injured boy. NONE !!
