You WILL Interact...or Else
Everyone has been briefed about the most recent Special Order ordering members to have "positive" interactions with the public?
Not only WILL you have interactions, you WILL provide a name to OEMC (if the subject of your mandatory interaction provides one.)
You WILL generate an event number and you WILL be available for assignment while performing this MANDATORY function.
This in the face of a policy designed specifically to discourage interaction with the public (see below), lest you be accused of profiling.
Last one out the door, please turn off the streetlights - oh wait, someone can just shoot them out.

Ha so damn pathetic. Id love to hear someone pull an event number for this shit.
Wayne, shame on you!
I will LOVE to interact with socialists and Aldermen while wearing a body camera and documenting their illegal actions. I will place them in custody with video evidence.
No Problem... squad hold me down on Division going bar hopping!!!! Reassigned that Domestic, bar owner had a theft of service a month ago can I get a RD#, now hold me down going into 013, oh wait 012 for 3hrs on paper!!!
Get on friendly terms with the folks at the sandwich shop, the corner store, etc. Rotate through them about every 45 days. By the time you use them the 3rd time, this all will be ignored in favor of the next flavor of the week.
The extra money used in leaving generous tips and hitting the tip jar will pay off in less hassle.
Squad, give me an event for talking with Mr. Hugh Jazz. Yes, i'm talking with a Hugh Jazz.
Ben Dover
Does this mean the house mouses will have to leave the safety of the house?
We, as a department and a society, are so fucked.
I max out in 6 months. Can't wait to put this wretched place in the rearview mirror.
Mmmm-Hmmm...
Told ya THIS was coming.
The powers that be are desperately trying to stay ahead of you
guys policing like you have no friends and thus "denying the public"
by creating self-initiated "Cop Free Zones" by mandating that you
have your quota of "good touches" per tour of duty.
Survival and safety based "Batman & Robin Policing"
is driving all the right people (and folks) to distraction
since they've achieved their much desired end of
proactive Policing.
They didn't figure on Policemen shutting it down
so thoroughly.
Much tire-spin and flaming exhaust emerging from the
Bat Cave to respond to a call... Even more of the same
on the way back in.
The Comp-Stat model is a numbers driven obscenity that has
dick-all to do with genuine public safety or "effective" Policing.
The results ARE tangible but are often times hard to quantify.
Herein lies the irreconciled rub with Comp-Stat and the danger
in trying to overlay a corporate model over big city Policing.
Coupled with the current anti-Police climate and orchestrated
political rushes to judgment to appease the "Mob," who can rightfully
blame Policemen for fullfiling their lawful duty by a common sense
curtailment of proactive, on-view, hands-on Policing?
Especially since it's the Policeman being chased down on the streets
by the public instead of Mistuh Criminal...
"To The Bat Cave!"
>Vroooom! Screeeee!
"Watch out!" Crunch!
Clang! Brraaap-Putt-Sputter!<
010 and 011 blowing up. 4 people shot within 1-2hrs. Lives matter. Don't forget to give your receipts to the shitheads
You vill all come to attention when I or the Grand Field Marshall walk in.
Ve have our ways.
Did they define "positive"? "Positive" from whose perspective? Yours? The dept's? The citizens'? I'm so glad I retired last year. Be safe out there all. Praying for your safety.
Sounds like a quota.
Another reason to sit on your hands for the entire tour.
Or else what???
The answer is more minority officers. Many many more minorities, in particular blacks. There are too many white officers. It upsets the communities.
A beat car looks better and better every day
Whatever....
Fund my pension.
Nothing yells "positive interaction" like the police coming up to you and asking your name, right...?
More CALEA bullcrap!
Speaking of interactions, heard a good one the other day. A couple of weeks ago in 11 they had a couple killed on avers in which they towed the car with the bodies in it because the crowd was hostile. Commander West shows up and is afraid to get out of the car. She directs sergeants from her cellphone and was more concerned about why the officers didn't have their hats on. I guess she didn't want to get caught on a news camera doing something deamed inappropriate by the media to jeopardize her deputy chief spot. She's around all the time but provides no leadership. Bring Evans back please!
Is a Wet Willie considered a positive interaction?
Ooooh! So, THIS, is why our illustrious Lt has been on the radio, performing Community Interaction, etc, so much as of late.
Now, "I see" said the blind man.
I'm not gonna get my Fruit Of The Looms in a bind. There are ways...
Aint this another form of contact carding?
Just axin.
No problem. We just started to stop by the pissbums (homeless) to get such numbers.
while engaged in an interaction, you will:
a) smile
b) show genuine concern (not fake) for the person in the interaction
c) tell funny or human interest stories about yourself or family members
d) express sorrow for their lot in life, maybe even convince them to vote Democratic in the next election, and offer or suggest a free phone or extra money
e) offer a hug (Hug-a-Thug?) in a show of love and support (keeping hands and arms in an appropriate position)
f) offer to sing a few bars from "We are the World", or "Kumbaya My Lord".....
g) insure the police radio is open so that OEMC can capture and record the entire wonderful interaction, and forward a copy to City Hall, GMac, and the ACLU
When you cannot police anymore, the illusion is the only thing that matters.
R & D knows everything about everything. Just do what they say. The road of their career path runs directly over our bodies....
I'm off to a great start with the program. I picked up street walker on 59th and Halsted. we had a great time.
Thanks for this new order. I've been watching the hostess at Gibson's for months and have been waiting for the right time to go talk to her about everything I've learned about her. I sure hope this interaction turns out positive and I can get an event number instead of a log number.
I don't mind having positive interactions with people. On a typical tour I talk to like at least five people. Talk and get to know people on a genuine basis. These people then develop a trust for you and then give you all sorts of information that can help make the beat I patrol a better place to live for the decent folks.
.
Where are the snitch boxes?
.
Well, compstat's scam has fallen apart. It's not selling. Therefore, Mc is not marketable. What is marketable? A city that isn't being burned down. How do you accomplish this? Avoidance. Sit in the box. Don't move. Make it extremely unmotivating to be proactive.
This is sooo stupid!
Contact cards should be illegal! Its all made up stupid garbage anyway that don't mean shit!
How many times you going to name check the same asshole on your beats!
Just cut and paste and change the date!
They could shove that up their asses downtown!
Nonsense, utter nonsense. Whoever thought this up is an absolute idiot. It had to be a softball that has spent 30 years sitting behind a desk in a cubicle slathered with pictures of cute little kitties.
Someone should inform the Supt that PATROL OFFICERS interact every hour of the day as part of the normal human course of living. Apparently he doesn't believe this is possible, so he wants it documented.
The Event Number System for Hotspot/Zone/Box/Special Attention/Foot-Crawl-Ram Missions in Englewood sure proved effective, right?
Goofballs following the Obama-Holder Change America Program.
I ain't doing it.
Glad I'm retired. Just stay in the car and answer your jobs.
The EVT is gonna carry the water for us on this one. All pre and post hook-up interactions in the Viagra Triangle now count as work-related activity. Make this a VRI requirement by golly.
Sooooo, let me get this straight. When I go thru the drive thru at Burger King for my 30 minute lunch, I'm going to take the order takers info? Another FANTASTIC idea for a department going in the shitter. BTW- great comment about the last one out shooting out the lights, SCC. Thank God, I can walk away from this mess any day now.
Avoid everybody... Less chance of receiving jail time. Stand down and let the citizens express themselves.
CPD = Communist Progressive Dictatorship
RIP Policing we were just getting used to law and order! People thought "Donald Trump" for president was a crazy idea, no wonder Trump is #1 in the polls and will win the presidency! The old adage applied "a fish stinks from the head down" from Obama all the way to our corrupt officials! Rahms and crew appointed a retired judge who says he was a "victim" of "racism" at 6 years old he remembers picking cotton! This man will review all contact cards and decide if civil rights were violated! Lets simplicity speak! This guy will decide what copper gets thrown into the spin cycle be able to take away officers position by "advising" the liberal political establishment what he feels the officers have done!
Onto the carousel the working copper goes where he/she stops only the politicians know! Will it be go to jail, lose your home, get fired, lose your health, lose your family or all of the above? Prayers for all coppers in Chicago and throughout the nation, the only way to stop this crazy train is for the taxpayers to say "no more!"
Please tell me this is sarcasm! With what has been going on I can't tell. It sounds ridiculous so maybe it's real. If so, another nail in the coffin.
As police officers, we have a bad reputation. Part of it is because so many officers are always disgruntled and sarcastic. Too many officers show contempt and negativity for others. It is part of our culture. This is a good idea and should be encouraged. But it shouldn't be mandatory. Giving a citizen a smile, a thumbs up, a how is it going friend? or a simple chat won't cost us a dime. But it will help to show the general public that we aren't some out of control brutes. That we are just like everyone else.
SOoooo
NO REFUSAL to prosecute signatures because Anita Alvarez and her clouted feel Detectives should not get rid of nonsense victims quickly.
Detective can't do their own photo spread because they want to fix cases.
All interviews in the Area must be taped because Detectives trick people into confessing.
Patrol officers must basically fill out an arrest report if they frisk bangers in the street (imagine searching a house party of rejects?)
Can't hold anyone for more than 12 hours because people get tortured.
Officers must wear a camera and explain every move they make.
A GPS is on your squad car because officers buy liquor for drunk women and have sex.
If a victim refuses to sign complaints the officers must be their savior and sign complaints so the case may be dropped in court.
Witnesses can't be held even for murders??? Who really knows who is a witness?
Garry you my friend are laughable and the ACLU has access to government documents because you are soft. The ACLU you can read all those contact card like they were free lawsuit applications.
Rahm is trying hard to avoid riots and is scared to death DA POLICE will be on the next viral video.
SOOOO stay in you box right a parkers on an abandoned car make case reports for everything and don't blow it off. Inventory those videos and stay down on it. Order an ET for those felony thefts. Canvass the hood for the bad guy. Take the domestic victim to a shelter 10 miles away.
Nobody can ever say you did not do your job....
What's wrong with having a positive interaction with the community, that's what police used to do all the time (remember, the good ol days you all beef about missing). Don't tell me they don't want it, because the majority of the citizens do want a positive relationship with the police. Now quit your whining and go say hi to someone at a community fest or get out of your car and talk to some kids on the block, it's not going to kill you.
6:40...
The only reason to be in 011 is because you can't get out of 011.
Bid out, find a management "spot" elsewhere, or gain seniority and bid out.
Progressive/Marxist infiltration....first the military changing rules of engagement to win the hearts and minds of the enemy DURING A WAR. (Only shoot if you can prove the enemy has a gun.)
Now, its law enforcement....politicians changing the rules of engagement for the police as a sign of submission to the insanity of liberalism.
Anonymous 8/08/2015 01:13:00 PM listen up, you non-police liberal putz: YOUR COMMUNITY IS BEING ENCOURAGED BY THE POLITICAL LEFT TO MURDER THE POLICE. GOT IT?
Just an arrest debriefing without a CB #. Not a big deal. One of the best ideas ever. Should help Internal Affairs resolve stalking beefs.
I retired recently was a supervisor in Det. Div. One of Garry biggest concern at comp-stat, was putting our hands on people (his own words). He would berate the commanders and other supervisors for not enforcing his policy. His and that idiot Chief of his wanted more contact cards to show we were putting our hands on people. Now instead of defending his genius idea, he backs tracks and sells CPD down the toilet. This looks like he's getting ready to leave this city and a goodbye, f*c% you to our once fine dept. Looks like the inmates are going to run the city.

Sorry... Not buying what you're selling.
When Mr. & Mrs. Citizen are awakened from their presumed
safe and sound slumber by skull-on-a-stick waving m/fers,
who in hell do you think they desperately want to show up
to make that situation right?
The chatty, faux-friendly, make everybody feel good Public
Safety Customer Service Aide?
Or...
Cue:
Several snarling Police sedans skidding to a stop at the front
and rear - both front doors of those sedans swing open and 500+ pounds
of 6 foot and over, very "purposeful" looking, five inch .45 packing Po-leece plant a steel-toed boondocker
boot firmly to the pavement and pushes forward to joyous ass-kickery in the name of The LAW
and Mr. & Mrs. Citizen. Whether they want to acknowledge such or not.
Amen...
>Blessed noise of Police Violence ensues...<
Amen yet again.
Somewhere, a liberal progressive peeks from under their bed and says: "EEK!"
Yeah, yeah...
Much ink spilled and many a tree slaughtered
in the incessant hand-wringing and eye dabbing
about the "barely suppressed blue-collar hostility"
of you too old, too big, too mean, too quick with
your fists/sticks/guns, too angry, drive too fast,
hit too hard, talk too nasty Coppers...
The public seems to think the answer lies in breaking
our fighting spirit.
"You wild-assed Cops are our enemy!"
Well, y'all just go ahead and hash out reasonable
accommodations with the skull waving m/fers who are more
than happy to climb through YOUR windows since you're
pre-occupied with trying to chump The Police because they're
not as cuddly and friendly as you "feel" they should be.
Somebody has to kick that ass and nowadays, ass most assuredly
needs kicking...
Viva Hate.
The Police are the enemy.
Right?
-TRUTH-
In this world there are m/fers who only understand violence.
Society has decided they have a problem with The Police
they understand AND speak the language of violece fluently.
Policemen ARE supposed to be dangerous...

I hope you don't tell them "police order" before you place your order.
I always believed what one old cop said: "Every officer is a community relations officer." But I think some citizens might see this as phony and intrusive.

Third world shit-hole. That's on the menu for America. And you will enable your own destruction.
When we come on the scene of the banger lying do a in the street do we have to write up one of those contact "receipts" and slip it in his pocket?
just remember..... it's called Police Legitimacy,,,, wait for it ...... # 2=== Hug-A-Thug

Hey that sounds like a great idea, but instead of an event number you should get her phone number that way you could develop a relationship with her and invite her to see your clown paintings in your basement.

It seems like you're using this program as an excuse to justify your Stalking Tendencies! You're a soft ball of epic proportions, my friend!
USM G/'d a northside district yesterday and saw two Sgt.s down on COMINT. (Community Interaction)
Thats one way to solve the pension. Jail, Fire, or get coppers to Quit. Sorry no pension for you. Maybe thats part of the plan to shore it up when the bill is due
Write contact cards, don't write contact cards. Write ANOV's, don't write ANOV's. Make physical arrest, don't make physical arrest. Blah blah blah... Time to flip my pillow to the cold side. Now give me an event number for violence zone 1,365.
Quite whining. You know this is how it's always been. A new reporting procedure, everyone thinks it's the beginning of the end (all is lost, time to call it quits, start prepping for the apocalypse), time passes, it's all forgotten, then repeat.
Besides, the whiners are the one's that work only enough for VRI anyways.
Black man drives a stolen van through a car dealership, commits a burglary and fights with responding Police who in turn shoot and kill him after a struggle.
Media reports it as White cop kills Black man. That's it..
When will it stop?
Blue Lives Matter, one day everyone will wake up and see liberals are wrecking America..
Where can I find a native American on the west side?
Ok now can we go back to fixing the murders, rapes, burglaries, drug dealers in open markets, agg. batts, gang violent crimes activity etc...etc....etc....etc... What is your opinion on how to fix this to all of you at ACLU!!!!
This is completely impractical in terms of tying up the air all shift. But it's unfortunate that there are some officers who have to be ordered to not be a surly dick to the public all day.
"Giving a citizen a smile, a thumbs up"
They'll either flip you the bird in return or shoot off your thumb.
The cops should take their fellow citizens to the shooting range to help them improve the bangers kill to shot ratio. It's embarrassingly bad now and drives up medical costs.
For $2.50 a pop, you can give me a contact card. Discount for multiple cards.

You're a mushball.
No offense, but I would just as soon not have any interactions with police at all.
I am not doing anything criminal so please just leave me alone.
Not a cop.
Cooter should be the official spokesman for the CPD. Where did spray me a golden orange suntan Pat Camden go?
Question - I had a positive interaction today. I had to make a pit stop to use the bath room in a big box store. I forgot to latch the door when I was doing a number 2 in the men' room. A male came into the stall and when he seen me, he said sorry. I told him no problem. Does this warrant communication with oemc ? I think the short interaction was positive !!!! I should of asked the guy his name, I forgot !!. Stupid me...................
Thanks you kindly SCC, starting a forum with the new order.
Sounds like CAPS, Where did that go?
Can I just give you the name of my Starbuck's barista?
SCC, not a PO but I read your site often. You and heyjackass.com seem to be the only ones reporting truthfully on crime in this city.
I wanted to point this comment out I saw on the tribune:
"Things will get better once police DECREASE the amount of people stopped and questioned on the street. Promise."
http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking/ct-shootings-violence-chicago-20150808-story.html#page=1&panel=comments
IT's sad that some people really believe this. That the police are the problem. The problem is evil. There's evil in this city. We are so used to the cycle of death each summer, that we are becoming numb to it. Yet underneath it all, there is a festering. A hatred of the crime, of the shootings, of the gangs. That hatred has NOWHERE to be focused. So it's focused on the police. I'm afraid the mayor allows this hatred to continue building with his poor management skills. It's time for us as a city to start looking for our next mayor, even a few years out, it's time to start looking for who the person will be to lead us out of this mess.
Should we get event numbers when some wannabe gives us a dirty look or when someone says "fuck you" or says some other derogatory shit to us?
disgruntled and sarcastic
How about mentally ill, pissed off and crazy as fuck. After doing this for more than a few years its impossible to keep your sanity.
R & D knows everything about everything. Just do what they say. The road of their career path runs directly over our bodies....

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
This is that Calea crap.
Ask the gp from R&D - she knows everything about how to be nice to people/folks.
This is her recommendation to GMac.
Gary how about telling the public this. This is our city, violence and public disorder is out of control. If you break the law we will arrest you. Our officers are doing their best, but know this, we have the societies collective right to be safe foremost as our duties and no we will not cowtow towards individual groups or media that persist in eroding the confidence of the public. If you want clarification on street stops, please talk to the families of homicide victims or the person who gets shot in this city every three hours and 29 minutes.

Not to be negative but your an ignorant twat. Ive just spent 30 years being professional, helpful, and kind to "citizens". How about I give a "thumbs up" up your ass for even accusing me of not having been?

Policemen aren't as dumb as you wished they were.
This "Positive Interaction" being put forth by Rahm & Garry
doesn't mean anything near what it used to so yeah... Most
Coppers catch a whiff of the stink that phrase now embodies
and rightfully try to stay far away from it.
You know...
Weasel words.
Slippery syntax.
Lies of omission.
Prevarication = high art.
Etc.
When you're bullshitted and lied to for
half to two thirds of your life
like Chicago Policemen, you become
quite adept at discerning what Rahm
and McOutOfIdeas are desperately
trying to get enough Coppers to bite
on and sell themselves out.
The REAL "Positive Interaction" from the good old days, (and not the
fairy tale make believe in that feverish, inflamed peanut you call a brain)
was the public being smart enough to stay out of the way while we were
hunting, hurting and sometimes destroying very bad, dangerous and vicious
people who think nothing of doing the unthinkable to YOU and YOURS.
Anything the public can provide to achieve that end is much appreciated.
Or are your knickers in a wad because some of us reject YOU PEOPLE's veiled inference
of the phrase "Public Servant."
Who has the gall to look down on whom?
Just because we wade in the bloody shit-mud of this
city doesn't mean we have to bow down to the likes of you.
And since YOU'RE in a shit-talking mood, why don't you log on and
leave your IP# with a peoples or folks blog just to keep things square?
They abide by no rules and they surely reject your notion of
what a civilized society is.
Yeah yeah... The out of control, rebellious
Cops suffer your pique because you don't have the nerve to shit-talk Dude on
HIS digital doorstep like you came here to do to Policemen who by and large play
by the rules.
P.S.
A little appreciation wouldn't kill you.
Shit-Talker...
Couple of comments here:
1. Bureau now involved in car dealership shooting, and had released surveillance video which clearly shows that teen damaged at least one vehicle by dancing on hood and smashing windshield. Video from inside dealership not released, so jury out on whether shooting was justified. What has been released shows guilt.
2. If I provide witness info on automobile accident, and everyone in District knows me, DO NOT try to write contact card on me because I'm NOT going to come forward voluntarily any more.
I'll work through insured's insurance company to ensure justife, but quit harassing upright citizens, with zero record, and 50 years at same address.
While I respect your work, and realize you have a difficult job to do, many go way overboard in process.
3. When McCarthy calls a meeting and asks for input, tell him to at least make eye contact and not look and act like he's board out of his mind with having someone else suggest something. Makes both him, and the Department, look like a horse's ass.
That is all.
By far the dumbest idea yet, tying up the radio for these numbers. Who exactly thought this up?
It's the new caps, what's old becomes new again. This too shall pass
Was talking to a buddy of mine who's a private attorney and asked him how business was. He said, "Horrible! Nobody is getting locked up! " I chuckled and told him it's probably going to get worse...
8/8 6:23pm
Today shows video footage and their lead out to commercial, shit you not
"Black teen is video taped destroying cars at a dealership lot before being confronted by police" as they show a m/1 acting irate/crazy jumping psychoticaly stomping his feet as he jumps, thn adjusting his shoes... crazy
Here's the thing, back in the day citizens and criminals respected authority because the Law meant something. There were penalties, incarceration and shame among other things. But now, its a badge of honor to spit in front of po-leece and to run from da po-leece and not to talk to the po-leece unless you "playing" a.k.a. trying to flirt. And the powers that be have all but eliminated any punishment for crimes committed. I guess just keep watchin the show
8/8 6:23pm
Saturday "Today" show at about 7:43 am shows clip of irate/crazy acting M/1 in a car lot stomping his feet and jumping up and down (reminiscent of a Bull scraping his hoofs on the ground before being let out to fight with a matador) and, their lead out to commercial was "BLACK TEEN CAUGHT ON VIDEO DESTROYING PARKED CARS IN A DEALERSHIP LOT BEFORE BEING CONFRONTED BY POLICE" normally not a Today Show person, but haveta say, im impressed. What balls to speak truth without fear of impunity
What is old is new again, we have been there before and it has never worked. Poor leadership continues.
So what happens when some local shit-bag is listening in on the police scanner app on his phone and gets the name of the person on the block talking to me? Should I use the same event # for the aggbatt as the citizen interaction?
Not even the Mayor would like to live in fear....but in some neighborhoods in City of Chicago residents live in fear because their house is not surrounded by six police officers - Mayor's guard detail!

Why don't you read the order and then you can answer this yourself, asshat!
We should have our lieutenants doing much more socializing with the citizens. How about grabbing a bike and shaking a few citizens hands. Lt's aren't responsible for anything else anymore so why not have them interact with more citizens.
Squad, let me get an event number for a positive interaction on Belmont/Halsted with Mr Janus, first name Hew.
I am not doing anything criminal so please just leave me alone.
Nothing, that you know of
Tell ya what guys and gal's....
You want an Easy One?
Stop Vehicles that don't come to a complete stop at lights or stop signs.
Stop bicyclists that don't yield or stop properly at lights and signals.
There you go. Activity and Positive Interaction because not very many people in a car or on a bike are going to mouth off to a cop for a legit traffic stop. Ticket them or contact card them with a warning, and you get this new stupid GO as activity for VRI.

Maybe you guys should start calling this the War on Cops because it is really much more a War on Cops that we have going on than a War on Women.

I hope you don't tell them "police order" before you place your order.
8/08/2015 04:17:00 PM
Good point, forgot to add that!

Thanks for this new order. I've been watching the hostess at Gibson's for months and have been waiting for the right time to go talk to her about everything I've learned about her. I sure hope this interaction turns out positive and I can get an event number instead of a log number.
8/08/2015 09:21:00 AM
Hey that sounds like a great idea, but instead of an event number you should get her phone number that way you could develop a relationship with her and invite her to see your clown paintings in your basement.
8/08/2015 05:05:00 PM
Yep, remember it takes about 5 weeks of her handcuffed to the radiator before she starts to see things your way. Like how us men are so misunderstood, how the world is ass backwards and only we can save it or how sexy I look in my tin foil hat.
Treat people decently and professionally until the give you a reason not to. Lots of cops start off treating everyone like crap. Some deserve it. Some don't. After 20 plus years working in these areas I've learned to let most of it go in one ear and out the other. I think the person mother fucking you on the block get more mad when you tell them to have a nice day.
Thank you for your input, PPO Swarz.
Lobby your state representatives to make it against the law to not submit to not comply with positive police interaction. THEN, if they don't wanna make friends...lock them up for failing to obey the like me law.
Just waltz in on some west side barbq's to say hello to the citizens in the dist. Like the white and black cop used to just stop by on Sandford and son. They like that. Oh shit..spotted weed smoking, a gun in the cooks waistband and the nephew serving a dope bag on the side of the joint. Now they're suing because you didn't have reason to even be on the property. No bs, this happened.
Mandatory interaction with the puplic but now once I start asking for a name doesnt that now make it a stop and now I have to conduct a contact card. Now you just pissed off the public and the first thing they are gonna say is the police stopped me and started asking me questions for no reason.

No offense, but I would just as soon not have any interactions with police at all.
I am not doing anything criminal so please just leave me alone.
Not a cop.

Fair enough and that's exactly how things SHOULD go.
We have no interest in impeding the forward motion of the
law abiding citizen.
If everybody respectfully stayed out of everybody else's way, things would be great.
Vri minimum and handle jobs..nothing more
What if the person doesn't want to be identified over the air for the world to know?
I interact with the CPD Command Staff every time I wipe my ass.

Quite whining. You know this is how it's always been. A new reporting procedure, everyone thinks it's the beginning of the end (all is lost, time to call it quits, start prepping for the apocalypse), time passes, it's all forgotten, then repeat.
Besides, the whiners are the one's that work only enough for VRI anyways."
Spoken like a true 35th St White Shirt Knobgobbler, thanks for chiming in Gump

Hey, tell that to our bosses. They think we should become best friends.
Squad, let me get an event number for a positive interaction on Belmont/Halsted with Mr Janus, first name Hew.
8/09/2015 11:33:00 AM
It would have worked better if you would have spelled Mr. Janus' first name as "Hugh". How many "Hew"'s do you know?

Be polite, be professional, but have a plan to kill everybody you meet.
I come in peace. I didn’t bring artillery. But I’m pleading with you, with tears in my eyes: If you fuck with me, I’ll kill you all
PowerPoint makes us stupid.
There are some assholes in the world that just need to be shot.
Perhaps the "oppressed communerty membahs" can also get in
on the "taking it to The Police" fun by having one of their designated
spokes-weasels draw up a list of prohibited "Police Activities," so that
we can all be on the same page here?
No "Space to Destroy."
No floppin' an' cryin' while axin' da sky whyin'.
No marchin', bullhorn yellin' and airbrushed
Airbrushed memorial tee shirt wearin'.
Maybe...
Juuuust maybe.
The War on Police can wind down.
Or not?
Spokes-weasel can tape it to the main entrance doors at City Hall.
Rahm can laugh up his sleeve everytime he walks by the damned thing.
What?
Don't you want The Cops to be up-to-speed
On this new "Duty to Retreat/Come Back Later/Leave Us Alone" Policing that will
finally bring peace to the death cultist tribal no-go zones?
After all.
The Police are the enemy.
Right?
"Take that nasty-assed blog DOWN!"

This is a GREAT idea.
Now, I'm a detective ... would this still be effective over the phone?
..when was your last psychological exam?

In over 30 years of being the police on the south and west sides, most barber shops that I have been into were the center of either gambling or dope selling. The same goes for car washes. In a life time of going to the barbershop and car wash in the areas where I lived I have never seen that type of activity. There is a definite culture gap here.
I might be wrong, but I think these latest policies to document everything is just city hall trying to get ahead of the game, that is federal lawsuits and a federal take over of the department. The folks in the US attorney generals office are not on our side. But, as someone posted earlier, " this too shall pass". Crime was going down around the country, but now it is an upward trend. Policies like this will make that upward trend move faster.

We should have our lieutenants doing much more socializing with the citizens. How about grabbing a bike and shaking a few citizens hands. Lt's aren't responsible for anything else anymore so why not have them interact with more citizens.
8/09/2015 10:51:00 AM
Lt's are responsible for ensuring a Sgt is working as the DSS even when there is not a sufficient number of field Sgt's, thereby relieving the Lts of any other responsibility.
