As it's an open post...
SCC, do you have any control over those annoying ads that pop up in front of your blog page about 50% of the time you try to access it? One can't even get to your blog when that happens. If you click "go to page" during the ad, it doesn't send you to your blog page, it sends you to the ad content. If you wait for the timer on the ad to expire, it automatically sends you to a blank page and you can't click on anything, let alone anything to return to the blog, forcing you to reload the page and start all over again. I'm hoping it isn't you, and that this is just your blog's sponsor's way of trying to make a few cheap bucks. I'm willing to give you the benefit of the doubt, that you haven't sold out on us...;)
And before you ask, yes, I have some ad blocking software installed. But I can't help feeling that this is a manifestation of the shit that South Park parodied so brilliantly during its most recent season (where the ads take on a life of their own). Certainly I have no intention of stopping my visits to your blog if you can't do anything about it. Just figured I'd use the open post opportunity to blow off a little steam...

I worked the protest lest night (Friday). Car 100 refusing to give the go-ahead to lock up protesters even after saying "we'll give them 3 warnings to get out of the street and if they don't they get arrested" a few times on the radio and they still didn't move. Gets worse. When the group of assholes refused to let people in cars by that didn't honk their horns in support, they'd pound on the hoods of the cars and refuse to get out of the way. I guess a motorist challenged the group at which time one of the protesters brandished a gun on the motorist. Motorist calls 911 and the call comes out about a guy in a black overcoat with a gun. Immediately Car 100 answers up something like "that call has to be several minutes old so 19P it" [or something to that effect]. Officers on scene heard Car 100 and a couple 001 district sergeants say "we're taking a new approach" in dealing with the protesters. So we had obstruction of traffic, assaults on motorists, several possible CDTVs and a man with a gun call that wasn't investigated at all. I have never in my career witnessed such a disgusting display of inability and cowardice to lead and to serve and protect legitimate citizens of this city. Whoever is in charge or giving the marching orders to these fucking cowards that are supposed to be commanders and supervisors is deliberately putting coppers and citizens in harms way to kowtow to a group of jagoff protesters. So I assume that Rahm is telling Nagode and Andruzzi and company to let the assholes have free reign to do whatever the fuck they want?. I will be down there on my next RDO when the protesters are assembling and I will guarantee that anyone that attempts to prohibit my movement or dares put a hand on me or my vehicle will see a fucking jail cell and/or an ER. And ANY and EVERY white shirt that thinks he or she will "19P' on scene will be getting paper for cowardice and inattention to duty just for starters. Recall then Tact Lt. Was just reading the thread about Koschman fallout and people getting nailed--other than being disciplined, I don't see how anybody involved in that case could be in trouble criminally--maybe choose to resign and not deal with it, but nothing criminal. Unless this is an attempt by city hall to get some more media attention by showing they took action against police involved? But the whole thing was directed by the 5th floor, so I don't get it. Maybe they're going to get the bumbling idiot Daley? It's weird all these people are retiring now, and not 2 yrs ago when the case and Denis was on the front pages. Maybe I missed something. It'd be a shame for the det's to get hammered because they followed orders--if you don't follow orders, just see what happens to you.

A resident of Canayville was putting together a rally to support the police. Within 1 day she had over 1000 people committed to attend. This was going to be a rally to show the Police that the residents in 009 support the men and woman that do a job every day. This is her post from Facebook giving the reason for the postponement.
I am rescheduling this event out of RESPECT for our officers nothing more, nothing less. Like I said from the beginning this was not about city hall, politics, or the administrative issues. It was simply to show our support of our first responders!!! To show them gratitude, not put anymore added stress on them. I couldn't care less about the politicians, but as we all know theY are not the ones on the front lines our men and a woman in blue are dealing with this turmoil. My heart would have been absolutely broken if I was told by one officer tomorrow that they were called away from their schedule time with their families because of an impromptu rally I organized. Make no mistake this rally will happen, just with better organizing on my part. With such overwhelming support for our officers in just a little over 36hrs, imagine what we could accomplish with some actual planning behind it!!!
Although this event is being rescheduled, I am still encouraging all available to please stop at your local stations tomorrow, if possible, with a toy for their drive and just say thank you and that we have your backs!!!
I generally check out CNN website for latest news. Unfortunately pretty much any news events are now buried. Instead it's all police shootings around the country and Donald trump stories. CNN breathlessly covers the Chicago "protests" even though it's a few hundred people at most. Give me a break. worked a side job last night, in uniform, something I rarely do. a Christmas party. it was about 50/50 black & white in attendance, 21 to 30ish in age. have to say it was a little surprising the number of people that said thanks, we appreciate what you do. most of the comments came from the black people. I am retiring after the 1st of the year. I am leaving knowing that the cpd, police in general, are not so hated. it was a mostly drunk, well behaved crowd, raising money to help out some others who have less. ah, the media was not there.

Off topic- I am currently a sworn full time LEO and a few days ago I went to a sporting event at the United center. Upon entering the security screening process, I was asked if I had a firearm. Replied yes, my off duty weapon. I was escorted to a room with several lock boxes. I was instructed to secure my weapon in a lock box. Not a problem, afterwards I went to my seat and enjoyed the game. I returned to said lock boxes where I noticed another 7 lock boxes being used. I waited nearly 15 minutes to retrieve my weapon. Wondering to myself just how secure these 7 weapons are with nobody around watching them. I can't believe how fucked up things are lately. So not only are you made to disarm yourself, nobody is watching your firearm in a building with 20,000 people.

I'm starting to believe that liberalism is a mental problem. They expect results while debilitating the police department. They expect crime to go down by treating bad people with kindness and money.
They stand on their righteousness, and their belief that they are such great people, that their policies can do no wrong, they have become so self diluted that they can't even see the truth: liberalism creates criminals, or at least creates an environment that they flourish. Criminals break the law, that sometimes a hard hand is what is needed, and that officer using the hard hand doesn't want to do it, and does not enjoy it. None of us want crime. None of us want a world that has criminals, but if there are not people that put on a uniform, and stand up against those who mean to hurt other people, and mean to destroy the world, then who will do it while it needs to be done?
A utopia isn't created by hugs and social policies, the anarchists don't want a utopia, and until those people are stopped, jailed, or just plain eliminated, then there is no chance for utopia. Unfortunately bad people exist, and even more unfortunate is the need for people to fight against them, because of the toll it takes on our souls. None of us want to be violent, and we all have done things we are not proud of, and that goes for everyone not just the police. Some liberals, and some criminals may not believe the things we do take a toll on our lives, our families, or our health, but it does. Isn't the toll that crime takes on criminals and the innocent horrifically obvious?
Who is the righteous? Those who stand up and fight, or those that cower in the background and tell everybody else how to feel and what to do, while refusing to live by their own words? Who are the meek? Those who choose the easy path because of the situations they are born in, or that they have created out of their own actions, or is it those who choose the hardest path; to sacrifice their life in the service of others?
Sorry for the long rant, but I I'm really depressed about the turn of the city, my city. I appreciate the sacrifice that officers make everyday to keep me and my family safe. Do not give up.

Sounds like you picked up a "browser hijacker" that does these "redirects."
This freeware might help you track it down and get rid of it. It's helped me.

The Utah Concealed Carry Permit is valid in (last time I checked) every state except California, Connecticut, Guam, Hawaii, Kansas, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Puerto Rico, Rhode Island, South Carolina, & the Virgin Islands. But you'd have to get one of theirs.
Since Illinois just joined the 21st Century and added a Shall Issue CCW/CCL....has any change in the Compiled statues been made for reciprocity for other states CCL's?
My Michigan CCL expires in 12 months, along with my Michigan State ID...and while my IL FOID is in the mail to me....I want to know if I need to just renew ID and CCL...or go out and get my IL CCL?

I must admit that it will be a while until the membership gets united. Personally, I hate the winter months, so I'm just going to take it slow and low. I'll be glad to do every report I can, though. Crime stats, not my problem.
Come June, however, being a person who loves the warmer (busier) months, I'm making every arrest I can, and no discretion on traffic. If I'm stuck at the station the entire watch, waiting on an open computer to do my reports, or waiting in line to bring my offender to lock-up, oh well. Backlogs, also not my problem.
I am getting those fucked up ads also.

Getting the same thing on an iPad. This seemed to work: Turn on Airplane Mode; Go to Safari & try to open SCC (which you cannot); Go back to settings and turn off Airplane Mode. Go back to Safari and open SCC - no more pop up.

Last week we witnessed an internal struggle to control the business as usual corruption in the divided democrat party. We saw self described “bishops” in name only request elected officials be removed on their authority in collusion with community agitation mind-numbed drones.
The vast majorities of these “bishops” lack a formal theological education but continue to run their tax exempt store front churches preaching the democrat party sanctioned mantra. If these “bishops” are so politically orientated, one could argue there are non-profit political organizations hiding behind religious tax exempting privileges.
We will not hear these “bishops” rise up against failing public education under democrat control with a time tested track record. Excessive amounts of monies are allocated but the end result is urban students graduating from H.S. functioning at a fifth grade level. One would think these “bishops” would demand the schools teach vocational education providing skills for student to provide skills for success with a possibility of business ownership and entrepreneurship opportunities.
Where are the “bishops” pressing so called democrat politicians to create a climate encouraging businesses to thrive? Shopping malls and service jobs are low paying good publicity jobs creating an illusion of “jobs” and heaping election campaign brochure fillers. So many urban residents in their flock or community congregations lack basic marketable skills which are often filled by non English speaking immigrants. You would think they would publically condemn these elected figures for their obvious anti business attitudes, confiscatory taxation and absolute control through regulation discouraging economic development.
A foundation to a strong thriving community is private home ownership. You would think these “bishops” would demand answers to the lack of economic opportunity and decline of private home ownership which is leading to the decay of once thriving communities. Lets not forget, many “Christian” non-profits and other assorted non-profits are reaping big money via government Section 8 guaranteed benefits. Many of these non profits are generous to the executives many of whom wear religious clothing and have titles such as pastor, bishop, deacon, elder, etc. And don’t forget the U.S.D.A. funded food pantries and the after school programs all made possible with taxpayer money with a don’t ask-don’t tell accountability protocols.
Get up on the pulpit and give respect to the current political apparatus and get their name and their message out. Stop dirtying up and dividing the democrat party! The other party may curtail your benefits and probe the efficient allocation of public money. You are religious figures-why would you bring awareness to your swindled tax exempt money and dirty up the elected officials and their marketable brand? After all, the internal feuding brings attention to all that makes this government money distribution schemes possible?
“Bishops” have seized upon an opportunity to use police as scapegoats in the everyday violence plagued communities. Condemn the members of your urban communities and their violent nature. Call out those politicians at so many levels for failing the people. Clean up your communities and stop disrespecting those in uniform provide more hope and change in your community than the j.v team you got elected into the white house. And by the way seven years into this, violence, poverty and government dependence has risen exponentially. The "Bishops" would say there is no problem just business as usual.

The 009 District rally in support of police that was supposed to happen on Saturday was cancelled because of a plea by 11th Ward Alderman concerned that we might clash with anti-police protesters causing an incident which would tarnish Bridgeport's good name (ha,ha). One would expect a politician to thwart these efforts, but I was more that a little disappointed in Fr. Brandt for urging members and their families NOT to show up or participate. I know Fr. Brandt is a stand up guy and goes out of his way for the membership. That being said, I can't help feeling a bit let down since Fr. Faker is always so vocal and quick to defend his parishioners and members of the African American community at large. Why is Fr. Brandt so silent in these troubling times? A televised spot by Fr. Brandt saying a few kind words on behalf of the membership might go a long way. I guess Bishop Cupich has him on a shorter leash than Fr. Faker.

I worked the protest lest night (Friday). Car 100 refusing to give the go-ahead to lock up protesters even after saying "we'll give them 3 warnings to get out of the street and if they don't they get arrested" a few times on the radio and they still didn't move. Gets worse. When the group of assholes refused to let people in cars by that didn't honk their horns in support, they'd pound on the hoods of the cars and refuse to get out of the way. I guess a motorist challenged the group at which time one of the protesters brandished a gun on the motorist. Motorist calls 911 and the call comes out about a guy in a black overcoat with a gun. Immediately Car 100 answers up something like "that call has to be several minutes old so 19P it" [or something to that effect]. Officers on scene heard Car 100 and a couple 001 district sergeants say "we're taking a new approach" in dealing with the protesters. So we had obstruction of traffic, assaults on motorists, several possible CDTVs and a man with a gun call that wasn't investigated at all. I have never in my career witnessed such a disgusting display of inability and cowardice to lead and to serve and protect legitimate citizens of this city. Whoever is in charge or giving the marching orders to these fucking cowards that are supposed to be commanders and supervisors is deliberately putting coppers and citizens in harms way to kowtow to a group of jagoff protesters. So I assume that Rahm is telling Nagode and Andruzzi and company to let the assholes have free reign to do whatever the fuck they want?. I will be down there on my next RDO when the protesters are assembling and I will guarantee that anyone that attempts to prohibit my movement or dares put a hand on me or my vehicle will see a fucking jail cell and/or an ER. Another prime example of biased agenda based yellow journalism. They only include the bare minimum amount of facts to lead people to the conclusion that they want (that this is clearly because of racism). They even go on to use numbers to make it look more like they did some actual research. It would be a complete shame if they presented all the facts, that would just get in the way of their agenda. Here are a couple facts they conveniently left out:
1. North side districts that have predominantly white neighborhoods have less crime (meaning an overall lower calls for service).
2. In these districts, there is far less abuse of the 911 system (i.e. calling because jr doesn't want to go to school, calling 911 on the cashier at mcdonalds because they are out of chicken nuggets etc..). For whatever reason you wish to attribute it to, these north side districts are not burdening the 911 system as much with non-police issues that can be solved with a little common sense. These burdens lead to backlogs.
3. In these predominantly white neighborhoods with less crime and less 911 calls guess what????? There are far less police officers assigned to those districts. Often, these neighborhoods are bigger (square footage) than the southside districts that dwarf them in 911 calls.
4. In these predominantly white neighborhoods that have less crime, less 911 calls, and less police officers assigned there...... they very seldom (if ever) get any outside assistance by way of additional manpower allocated to supplement their districts. Predominantly african-american neighborhoods (that already have more police officers assigned to them in the first place), receive a multitude of additional officers through VRI, VRE, tactical teams, narcotics teams, gang teams, CTA special employment, etc. This is EVERY DAY. Often, an area that would be covered by a single beat car will have 4 or more outside units actively patrolling that beat through VRI alone. In some cases, these additional units will double or even triple the number of officers that are assigned to the ENTIRE district (and remember, these are districts that already have more officers assigned to them in the first place). These extra cars often respond to the in progress emergency calls while the district cars are doing reports that needs to be done.
I could go on, but I am probably only telling all of us (who do not buy into the biased media bullshit to begin with) what we already know. They want to give the appearance that there is a lack of police service to african-american neighborhoods because the flavor of the day is that black lives do not matter. The reality is, these neighborhoods get the most service. But this is why media is dead. There are no more journalists trying to actually report and inform the public anymore. They are all biased agenda based pieces of a machine whos only purpose is to struggle to keep themselves relevant and increase their profits through keeping the public in a state of panic and crisis and thereby maintaining viewership. They have all basically whored out any shred of integrity they might have had a long time ago.

Well there "Hard Charger", Ya think Nagode learned lessons from the NATO arrests from Grant Park when ALL of the cases were dismissed? Do you think HE wants to be on the "hot-seat" for that call? Or possibly do you think that HE is not only looking out for HIS career, but YOURS as well?

When that happens, please tell the rest of the class that didn't get the message to be "Hands Off" how it feels to disclose your assets.
The MULTIPLE calls of "Man with a Gun"? Naaaa, that couldn't have been staged at all, could it? Nagode was smart enough to not take the bait. He didn't have to or have other officers get into a fight with the idiot (who probably didn't have a gun). You possibly have enough forethought in that the decision to NOT have these protesters arrested is coming from well above a Sargent's and Commanders' pay-grade. How many total have been arrested? How many have been let go? You complain about poor leadership on this Department, yet no one heard YOU yell out the command to arrest anyone. You damn sure weren't leading any charges up the hill, were you? However, wearing those stripes, getting all the extra pay and having all the extra responsibility makes YOU a leader as well, right?
Now, if you want to go Downtown on your RDO, and needlessly place yourself in harms way, while being an OFF DUTY Sgt of Police, go right ahead! That's your right to do so. However, I must remind you Sgt Supertrooper: YOU are needlessly placing not only yourself in a fucked up position, but EVERY OFFICER, SGT and LT that has to respond to that scene. If YOU want to go and get yourself into trouble by going out of your way to do some fucked up, dumb shit, please, go right ahead!

Whoever is in charge or giving the marching orders to these fucking cowards that are supposed to be commanders and supervisors is deliberately putting coppers and citizens in harms way to kowtow to a group of jagoff protesters. So I assume that Rahm is telling Nagode and Andruzzi and company to let the assholes have free reign to do whatever the fuck they want?. I will be down there on my next RDO when the protesters are assembling and I will guarantee that anyone that attempts to prohibit my movement or dares put a hand on me or my vehicle will see a fucking jail cell and/or an ER. I was at a function at Regina Dominican HS this week with my daughter. Three sets of parents approached me and stated their support for Chicago policemen during at this tumultuous time. I then went as far as explaining, in great detail, the justified use of force by Officer Van Dyke and got no stunned looks in return. I have spoken to many people who are not outraged by the shooting and who support us.
Did anybody get their new FOP book yet?
If Frank Pape, Tony Lodl, or Henry Hartman were around that night Lalicorice McDonald would have had 32 rounds in him. If my old partner on "65A was there he'd have had 64!

Off topic- I am currently a sworn full time LEO and a few days ago I went to a sporting event at the United center. Upon entering the security screening process, I was asked if I had a firearm. Replied yes, my off duty weapon. I was escorted to a room with several lock boxes. I was instructed to secure my weapon in a lock box. Not a problem, afterwards I went to my seat and enjoyed the game. I returned to said lock boxes where I noticed another 7 lock boxes being used. I waited nearly 15 minutes to retrieve my weapon. Wondering to myself just how secure these 7 weapons are with nobody around watching them. I can't believe how fucked up things are lately. So not only are you made to disarm yourself, nobody is watching your firearm in a building with 20,000 people.

Saturday afternoon my boyfriend took me to the Nutcracker Ballet as an early Christmas present. We were heading to the blue line (I thin k it was the Jackson stop) after 4:15pm or so when i noticed our CPD. It was a very long bicycle patrol so i was caught off guard and said, "hey look it's our Chicago Police!"
Never have I seen officers ... flinch. I felt very bad so i said Thank you, and I love you guys! It turns out people that were around us said thank you to them as well.

Re: the malware problem, HijackThis is definitely a good choice, also consider something like Malwarebytes Antimalware for long term protection. Traditional antivirus utilities aren't good at stopping today's computer security threats because they've moved away from low level binary worms toward things that look and act like legitimate software applications but aren't.
Incidentally, I do hope you guys have received at least some kind of computer security training from the department. IIRC CPD had a data breach already, and with all the media bullshit flying around it's just a matter of time before one of the Internet heavies like Anonymous decides to screw around wit da po-leez. Hey, when you guys get ready to pull the pin, move on down here to Tennessee, preferably East TN. Stay the hell out of Memphis. No income tax in TN. Virtually no government interference. Much warmer here in Winter (2-3 inches snow max once per Winter) than frigid Chi-town, 85-90 in Summer with 65% humidity - like MX in the Spring. Cheap gas and electricity. Some of the cleanest fishing lakes in the country. 8 hour drive to Atlantic seashore. Buy 3 times as much house for your money. The Second Amendment rules the day, be it for protection or hunting, which is a huge part of the heritage here. Libtards and all their attendant "victim" groups and microaggression shit is laughed at. Yeah, we've got some fat hillbillies, but almost all are the salt of the earth. East TN crime is laughably low compared to other parts of the country. A review of the demographics explains why. We've got a few meth labs and pills are a big deal within lower socio-economic groups, but violent crime is almost non-existent. Move to the country and life is as safe as it was 60 years ago in Anytown, USA. The bible thumpers can over-do things once in awhile, but most of them keep it to themselves with only an occasional invitation to their church. They're no obnoxious or pushy at all. Yeah, out in the sticks you will see some missing teeth and the bastardization of the King's English can be wearing at times, but that's part of the trade-off. They do have some very succinct colloquial expressions, too. :) The food isn't real great, either, IMO, but I'm from CA where we eat fresh, not fried. This is country fried territory, and some transplants like that, but the bigger towns have better offerings (and slimmer people) - you just have to find those restaurants and stores.
For God's sake, get out of that third-world cesspool. I was born in Chicago; was moved to CA as a baby, but visited relatives there many, many, many times. I remember when Chicago was once beautiful, clean, and safe except for the South side. You have my sympathy for what you're being put through. Thanks for all the help and suggestions! I finally found the little bugger. For everyone else who has the problem, look on your hard drives for any files with "gopage" in the filename (I had two) and delete them. It stopped the ads for me, maybe it will for you too.
Though that still raises the question...like many of the other responders here, this was the ONLY website that this happened to me on--didn't even get it on any of my usual porn sites. ;) Not to foster paranoia or anything, but I cant stop that little niggling thought that this site ALONE was the target of something nasty.

No ads here of any sort. Or almost any website. I'm on a Desktop Computer, use Firefox Browser with Ad Block Plus add-on.
NOTE: with Internet Explorer which I must use on occasion some websites do bypass IE's default Ad Block function. Which sucks, and is why i barely use IE.
What does piss me off though are the news websites that have Auto-play for Videos. By the time I find that fricken video to hit Pause, it's half over. I saw a Firefox add-on to stop auto-play of videos a while back but natch, now I can't find the damn thing

worked a side job last night, in uniform, something I rarely do. a Christmas party. it was about 50/50 black & white in attendance, 21 to 30ish in age. have to say it was a little surprising the number of people that said thanks, we appreciate what you do. most of the comments came from the black people. I am retiring after the 1st of the year. I am leaving knowing that the cpd, police in general, are not so hated. it was a mostly drunk, well behaved crowd, raising money to help out some others who have less. ah, the media was not there.
Was at Whole Foods off North Avenue recently making a salad at the salad bar. Was in uniform. Was called a "land pig" by hipsters walking by.
We are still hated by many. Don't be fooled.

Was working special employment in uniform and stopped at Garrett for popcorn. A very nice tall, well dressed African American gentleman paid for my popcorn. I was very surprised and thanked him profusely. He told me that he appreciated what we did and just wanted to show a small gesture. The girls behind the counter were all very nice too and told us how the Black Friday protests really disrupted th r or business. So yes we do have more supporters out there than you think.
I've had a weird popup or two getting to SCC on my Kindle Fire HD.
