- A concealed carry gun owner who shot a man who was firing at a group of people in April said Tuesday that Chicago police have returned his licensed firearm.
John Hendricks, 48, was taking a break between Uber fares in the 2900 block of North Milwaukee Avenue on April 17 when Everardo Custodio, 23, opened fire on a group near Hendricks' vehicle, according to his account and police records.
Hendricks fired his Springfield Armory .45, striking Custodio three times, according to police reports.
He was not charged with any crime in the shooting because he fired in self-defense, which is allowed under Illinois' concealed carry laws.
Now that the Department knows what is expected, let's see if they can streamline the process. Practice makes perfect.

- The college student accused of threatening to shoot several people on the campus of the University of Chicago has been released into his mother's custody.
Jabari Dean's mother was told in court Tuesday morning that she would be held responsible for reporting her son if he violates any conditions of his pre-trial release.
The judge ordered Dean to submit to a mental health evaluation and stay off the internet unless he needs it for his studies at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He is also not allowed to travel outside the Northern District of Illinois.

Now it appears that the newly minted relationship has come under strain; in a recent statement to VladTV, David discloses that Chief Keef's contract has been suspended because "his management went off and did a tour without our approval."

The judge is one of those liberal white racists. They actually think that minoritys are inferior and incapable of doing anything without their or the government's assistance. It really is amazing how many believe this and no one calls them on it.
Us CCW citizens are few and far between in Chicago, but we are out there. This delayed-return is so ironic. So, we have taken it upon ourselves to uphold our constitutional right and ostensible duty to protect (because I'm NOT going to stand by and watch innocents murdered, INCLUDING myself) and yet, when we do, our weapon is relinquished until such a time as someone decides to lazily return it?
A few hints. That weapon costs MONEY. I don't want to worry about possibly not getting it back for months, if ever, if I make the split-second decision to deploy it in defense of criminal action. But that possibility exists, because I am not made of money. Also, we TRAIN with it, and are PREPARED with it tactically, e.g. holster, position, muscle memory, etc., and in the case where it was deployed successfully to stop a bad guy, the reward is to have it TAKEN AWAY? This makes so little sense to me it's mind-numbing.
Don't worry, I have the correct big-picture view, namely that I'm not going to be thinking about money if a bad guy is threatening me or someone else with a weapon. But isn't confiscating the good guy's gun for lengthy periods completely stupid? If the good guy is going to have a gun, wouldn't the gun grabbers prefer he have one that he's TRAINED AND EXPERIENCED with?
