Dig Deep Zach
We haven't watched the video yet, but Chicago Tonight has a summary of their recent interview with US Attorney Zachary Fardon:
- As the U.S. Department of Justice carries out its investigation of the Chicago Police Department in the aftermath of the Laquan McDonald shooting, U.S. Attorney Zachary Fardon joins “Chicago Tonight” to discuss updates on the probe, the recent spike in gun violence gripping the city, and some of the high-profile cases his office has handled over the last few months.
Just a few weeks after the city released the police dashboard camera video of the controversial McDonald shooting, U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch announced in December the launch of an expansive investigation into patterns and practices of the police department. Since 2008, the Department of Justice has opened 23 similar investigations throughout the county, including one in Ferguson, Missouri after the police shooting of Michael Brown that set off protests for weeks.
A “pattern or practice” investigation evaluates whether a police department has systematic problems that result in constitutional or federal violations. For Chicago, Lynch said the probe will specifically examine the police department’s use of force and its policies regarding police accountability.
Fardon said on “Chicago Tonight” that he could not comment on the specifics of the ongoing federal investigation into the Chicago Police Department practices.
“It is a deep dive, it is the opposite of superficial,” Fardon said. “I will say it’s an important historic opportunity we have to take a look at these issues at the Chicago Police Department. It is a terrific and important law enforcement organization, and the city deserves it to be as great as it deserves it to be.”
Should be an interesting spring and summer, though with democratic appointees investigating a democratic run city where a democratic president hails from, let's just say our expectations are kind of low.

It would be a blessing for the CPD and Chicago if the Justice Dept. would take over running or managing the CPD until it can get back on it's feet.

Deep dive into deeeeeez
How about a Federal probe into Chicago street gangs?
We are all well aware of what is wrong with this city , county , state .
Be very careful not to be the guy holding the bag.
the system needs a head or two .
"and the city deserves it to be as great as it deserves it to be.”
Yes, Chicago deserves it. Now it is going to get it, good and hard!
Also accusations against Alderman Burke. Inspector general to investigate? Ha. yeah right.

Dear Zach,
Want to really fix the problems?
Start with Ali Rahma and the fifty thieves in City Hall.
“It is a deep dive, it is the opposite of superficial,” Fardon said.
I bet Zach knows all about superficial?
His Boss defines superficial.
Yeah...that's when they make sure shit rolls down! Execute a few sacrificial lambs while the upper eschelon plays dumb and spoon feeds the media types "look! We are cleaning house! Look how many cops we just sent to prison!" They will unearth some low level "racist" policy of the department that exists only up through a certain level...i.e., patrol...and will "root it out" in order to build trust with the community. They will/are hiring a boat load of minority applicants to replace the evil they purge! It's coming! Stay fetal or else what comes into you is yours! It's a new day people ... Time to watch out for yourself because NO ONE is watching out for you!
Zach: I love the government version of corporate speak and your big deep dive remarks are classic nonsense. (Corporate speak to you cops is the same as bull shit. Executives come in, they say it, they feel good and leave for lunch at Wildfire. We continue to do our work as we see fit doing what works for our customers) Zach: you go diving on something, lets see how long it takes for lucky 100 death to hit at the office pool. Thats $500 for the wining square. The government over the decades has caused the social malaise known as Chicago and you should be digging deep and diving on elected government fool. Start with the States Attorney office and Curcuit Court first.
"It is a terrific and important law enforcement organization, and the city deserves it to be as great as it deserves it to be."
wouldn't that mean being hired and promoted by test score and not the color of your skin ?
I have an excellent deep dive for him.
Now, kees me you fool!!!!
U.N. directives on use of force coming soon. One may only fire when fired upon. Weapons are to be carried with an empty chamber. Therefore more actions would be required before a shooting may occur. Gives one time to think.
In other words, the feds and liberals have absolutely no idea about municipal-ghetto law enforcement. It does not fit into their three-piece suit world and it totally befuddles them. Treating the street thugs like white collar criminals looks wonderful in theory, but it creates a disaster in reality. They now have the police department of their dreams and may they revel in the body count. Stay fetal my friends.
what about all the "inside" people at 35th that get all the merit promotions, DOJ should check out the "merit" list of the ones that are going to be promoted to sgt on the next round,RP's girl is hoping she gets it.she never worked a day in the street but her and RP think she should get it instead of the poor bastards that work the streets for years..Sad
In short, Fardon's answer to everything was "I can comment on that at this time".
Hey Zack, "who you crappin"? Just as with Ferguson, the report is already written to condemn police practices and "culture" with just a few tweaks of local color to be added. The US Justice dept. has been weaponized against police and any effort to keep US citizens safe and secure, an effort of many years coming from the top down.
Chicago, Cook Co., and the CPD need the feds to bring order, justice and straighten things out. We can trust them to do what is right.
I can tell you right now what the findings will be.
"Ya all are racists!"
Which will result in no more street stops. Pro policing will ( has ) become a thing of the past.
Then the shootings go through the roof......
"Ya all ain't doing your jobs!"
Which will bring about more sensitivity training. Our actions on the job will be limited to a list of department and ACLU sanctioned responses in which we cannot deviate from or else face punishment in the form of lost days on the pay check.
While you are investigating the "Evil" Chicago Police Department, please investigate how that McDonald video mysteriously disappeared for 400 days! Also note, that disappearance was convenient for the reelection of our beloved Mayor. Where was the video for 400 days? Was it in former Lt. Dennis Walsh's safe? Or was it in Rahm's basement, with his wife's famous wedding gown, his basis for establishing residency in Chicago? Enquiring Minds Want to Know. Baby"G"
I want what good ole Zachs smoking and not the superficial stuff either!!
Remember the last US Attorney? He was the only guy in Illinois who didn't know Daley was a thieving louse. He covered for the local democrats and them got hired into a huge law firm as his reward.
A “pattern or practice” investigation evaluates whether a police department has systematic problems that result in constitutional or federal violations.
I propose investigations into the pattern and practice of A) 'merit' promotions and B) the correlation between 'Subject Matter Experts' and spouses/coworkers/neighbors/fuck buddies/chosen subordinates and friends that magically seem to do exceedingly well on promotional exams.
Seriously...
Polygraph as a condition of any promotion. Any indication whatsoever of cheating (secret study groups, political favors repaid, exaggeration of the resume in the merit package, etc.) equals mandatory investigation with termination as penalty if found guilty.
What say you, FLOP? Perhaps include this in the next round of contract negotiations?
Seeing that the city wouldn't bend in defining "Merit" last time around, I'm sure this would never fly.
"pattern and practice" investigation will reveal the following....
despite promoting a large percentage of morons through clout and patronage
despite being under continuous political and media scrutiny
despite the judicial system continually throwing out good cases or imposing minimal sentencing
the Chicago Police HAD a pattern and practice of taking guns off the street and inflicting significant damage to the gangs and narcotics problems of this city, lowering the crime rates in some areas significantly
BUT, they will only report that one day Joe Gang Banger had his feelings hurt by a WHITE police officer
AND, the 99 homicides that we have only 56 days into this new year will be close to 800 by the time the year is over, unless the National Guard is brought in
Does the "pattern or practice" include the Democrat affiliated Merit Appointed supervisors and exempts that are the root of the problem.
No street experience and no substantial contribution to patrol duty and they're making policy now.
But it's the flunky patrolman that's the problem.
— A “pattern or practice” investigation evaluates whether a police department has systematic problems that result in constitutional or federal violations.
I expect another half-assed investigation, drawn out and propped up to try to make Rahm look like a civil rights champ.
“It is a deep dive, it is the opposite of superficial,” Fardon said.
Not if he limits the investigation to what Lynch said it would be limited to
I would like to see a federal investigation into why the City has not been paying into the pension funds as they are supposed to. And by "City" I mean those individuals responsible for paying the bills. And after the investigation, I'd like to see some heads roll.... sort of like they went after Blagojevich, who was essentially doing what almost every politician in Chicago does. There's a term for it: Selective prosecution. They only prosecute the enemies of the Machine, and rarely prosecute the people pulling the strings and pushing the buttons that make the Machine roll.
"and the city deserves it to be as great as it deserves it to be.”
Yes, Chicago deserves it. Now it is going to get it, good and hard!
That's what she said....

I thought everyone knew that was Rahm's dress?
I love all the phoney white shirts trying to tell us DOJ isnt a big deal. Not going to far. Don't worry about it. Just do your job.

Hey leave one "N" out of this he can't help that one of his relatives is an US Attorney. OHHH com'on Zach you know the guy!
Why don't they investigate why the aldermen can't be investigated. It's astounding the beating the police officer takes when they are the ones called upon to restore order. We are everyone's best friend when needed but but if we make a mistake we become a sacrificial lamb. It's a thankless job and now we are the reason for the problems of the nation. I suggest next time someone needs the police they call a plumber.
Rahms top aide leaving wonder if he is leaving while Feds sniff at the hall of corruption? Hope zach sits him down first!

Well if the ACLU and the BLM groups want us to police like they do in Barrington IL so be it. They just need to buy a lot more body bags.

Your a goof.
It has to get a lot WORSE before it can get better. First step would be appointing an exempt to run the department who made rank without meritorious and worked a beat car for at least five years at the start of his career. No more ex-dics in cheap polyester suits or carpetbaggers from out of state.
This is exactly why our founding fathers put the second amendment into the constitution. Arm yourself because the police cannot. The aclu is leading lambs to the slaughter. Don't be a lamb. Progressives will always be lambs and will always run to the slaughter. Fricken dummies.
You know Barack has already told him to go easy on Rahm.
Here is the silver platter Zachary look at this Mike Lappe stolen pension funds who gave the Daley crew our money? Feds forensic audit of pension board please!

And their ties to the Democratic machine.
We are already starting to see the fallout of the DOJ's work. In no time they identified a lack of supervision through span of control, a misguided and confused chain of command (DSS), and inadequate or no training. So, there's been a couple promotion classes, probably with a couple more coming, Escalante says sergeant's will be held to do their jobs (Lts, Capts, etc too I hope)and we're getting the mandatory ISR (to kiss the ACLU's ass) training and Taser training for all. Watch, CIT will become mandatory, yearly weapon's quals will include shoot/noshoot/de-escalation tactics, and maybe even the dept. computers will be upgraded from Windows XP.
run silent, run deep

Wasn't there speculation out there that Daley was protected from prosecution by the "G" because he was feeding them intel?
Have your KY ready! The only people they are going to investigate are P.O's!

I had heard the same thing about Ed Burke.
If Zach wants to "Dig Deep",he should start on the 5th floor at City Hall.
Daley was a protected informant.
Operation Greylord Cooley testified he gave Ed Burke and his wife Illinois Supreme Court Justice Ann Burke numerous bribes to fix cases. Everyone Cooley testified against either went to jail or got probation EXCEPT Ed and Ann. Ed has been a G informant ever since.
