Naive People

This from some holy rollers in regard to the "success" of the no-murder Sunday:
  • Chicago went through Easter Sunday without a homicide, something a coalition of Far Southwest Side churches striving for a no-murder day on Easter considered miraculous.

Churches in Beverly and Morgan Park had worshipped on Sunday with the goal that Easter could be a day the city upholds the pledge "thou shalt not murder."

"I think it's fabulous. It's such an amazing gift to be able to see a single day where there was no murder," said the Rev. Karen Mooney of the Beverly Unitarian Church.
As we pointed out (via HeyJackass.com) Chicago has already had 22 "no murder days," 23 now counting Easter. That is a fairly regular occurrence and pretty much negates the definition of a miracle which would be an extraordinary (and rare) occurrence.

We also pointed out (via HeyJackass.com again) that Chicago hasn't had a "no one shot day" in almost 13 months. No one catching a round might actually qualify as a miracle over the recent Easter nonsense.

OT: So what happened to the young girls in Africa who were kidnapped and Barack and Michelle held up signs for TV that read "Bring back our Girls"? No more discussion of that huge situation....seems to have been about a year ago.

Talk about shootings, the latest one being the one they were all showing on TV where the victim was recording it on his smartphone and is now in the hospital, I just wondered: Who is picking up the hospital bill?

All these shootings in Chicago, are costing the taxpayers MILLIONS - no, actually over a BILLION dollars a year in hospital bills. No one is talking about that.

We have the highest sales tax in the country, what about the hidden "Hospitalization Tax" where all medical bills have to get paid out for all these shootings? The Southside Churches aren't picking up the bills.

Forget BLM, #TaxpayersMoneyMatters

Where is the thread on the Teachers Union demonstration?

All that red downtown, they might as well re-name Daley Center to Red Square.

I watched closely and it was more than just the Teachers Union. Some people had windbreakers on that demanded $15 (the Minimum Wage crowd), other protesters were tied in with Immigrant Rights group.

Don't these people get it? The state is broke. Let me say it again, THE STATE IS BROKE.

If they think the state is going to come bail Chicago Public Schools out, they are dreaming.

AND the over-used, over-abused, Democratic solution is, "raise taxes". How about cutting everybody back 20%? OR, get rid of all the "Extra jobs" in CPS and other agencies that are pure waste. Cut the waste. That would make a good dent in the deficit.

AND, start taxing pensions that are being paid to out-of-state recipients.

"Cost-of-Living" can be a double-edged sword. The whole time people are here, we have to pay them more because of "the cost-of-living". Well, if you move to a cheaper "cost-of-living" state, you should send some money back - you don't need as much. Why? "Cost-of-living" of course.

An even MORE compelling reason to tax out-of-state pensions is, the recipient is NOT re-circulating that money into the economy that they are getting it from.

If someone is spending money in Florida, it is helping that local economy, but it is doing nothing for Chicago.

Bottomline, send some money back. Out-of-state pensions should be taxed 10-20%.

Sound crazy? Can't be done? They are already doing that in states like New York. We need to shore up this bankrupt economy called Illinois.

I just read the story below this one.

Someone needs to call out the person that claims to be a man of God. He needs to re-learn what it means to be a Christian and a Christian leader of the faithful.

A real miracle would be a week without a shooting or murder on the South side.

Or as they call it in the paler parts of town, normal behaviors.

Maybe the revs should get together everyday and pray for no homicides. Then the revs can start praying for no drugs to be pitched. Heck the revs might even pray for black men to stick around and help raise the children they helped create. Wow a hat-trick, murders, drugs and family. Now that would be a some miracle praying.

"A group of ministers who had called for Easter to be a “day without murder” TECHNICALLY got what they wanted — there were no fatalities among a dozen shootings Sunday; but there were still at least eight men fatally shot last week, including three on Wednesday.

"The Rev. Karen Mooney, one of the organizers of the “Thou Shalt Not Murder” campaign, realized it was a start, but not a true victory.

“I find myself grateful that, by grace, no murders happened on Easter Sunday. Twelve people were shot, our victory hollowed, but through the hard work of first responders and medical professionals, no one has died...."

OT: speaking of apologists, UIC invited some commie who claims to be a co-founder of (only some) BLM to speak on 4/5. Her bio looks like every other community activist, never held a job & self-titled. This one intentionally wears very revealing, low cut tops so one can read the paragraphs of blathering indignation tatted over her ample bosum.
These folks are creepy scary. Ugh.

Please stop thinking and spouting "the state is broke" slogan. The state is NOT broke. They take in money daily from us by taxing every item imaginable or charging fees.

What the state does not have is a budget to spend the money or political leaders that have their spending/budgeting priorities straight.

Illinois takes in over 30 some billion a year in income. Your elected officials decide how to spend it. Other states budget and spend their income just fine. They have elected officials who have some common sense.

Imagine how utterly barbaric that statement sounds to the rest of the country, in what is supposed to be a civilized society. There are communities in this country that have never had a homicide in over 10 years, yet they are jumping for joy and calling it a miracle that for 1 day nobody has been murdered in Chicago. Crime has only progressed under the democrats and grown to levels never imaginable. Holding nobody responsible for their own actions has not worked and only emboldened the criminal element courtesy of the progressive liberal socialist marixist communist agenda promoted by the democrats and the media. When will this city wake up from this bad dream?

Let's look at racism in action. Been going to Chicago city clerks office on Archer and Laramie for my stickers and other things been served by great people, when I told the person there that helps this senior citizen with everything "see you next time" I was informed he was being put downtown with another person so they can bring in others. I thought that was strange as this person was great very knowledgeable, happy, so i talked to a good friend who works for city clerk Susie Mendoza and was told she has removed and terminated causation managers and brought in "her people" and now was putting inexperienced people of Hispanic origin in that location. Wow! Is this not the same girl who had gang banger herbie pulgar design city sticker and he did that with gang signs, then she gave him a grand in going away money? Then Mendoza is running for another cush state position, just another reason to leave this city-state-county as quick as you can. Is susie not a burke appointee? Heard Burke reads the blog and this is in the 14th ward hope Ed tells her correct procedures another disgrace to the citizens of Chicago.

as a matter of fact why do we have a city clerk? Police detail protection, duplicates the revenue department just a "springboard" to higher office talk about a total waste of tax resources! H

Uh, you'll have to foot the bill for having them framed.

Taxation is so taxing.

It's the one bill that can never be paid in full.

And the one burden only imposed upon civilized humans.

For all other species, the only tax ever paid is when they become the meal of the moment.

The price of civilization.

You know, I didn't call anyone a name when I made my comment. I made my comment because it is true.

So look, wake up and take an accounting class. Did you graduate CPS or at least make it to the 10th grade?

Wake up and realize spending $100 when you only have a buck in your pocket is going to put you into a "deficit".

Maybe look up the word deficit and read what it means - if you can read.

Hopefully, you aren't a cop. Don't tell me, a meritorious Gold Star? A CPS teacher? A budget director for one of the departments?

Get a clue - start looking at the pension deficits. Can you understand this number? $130,000,000,000? It's more than what's in your Piggy Bank.

This state is BROKE. Yes, they take in revenues, but when they spend more than they take in - THEY'RE BROKE.

Pensions are underfunded. Budgets are underfunded.

I cannot believe ANYONE in this state is as dense as you but they must be, they keep voting the same people in who have caused this huge shortfall.

NO - what the state has are people like you - too lazy (or dumb)to vote these incompetent leaders out.

Why do you keep re-electing them? Now, the state is totally screwed.

Don't blame Rauner either. All he did was point to the growing mess that has been accumulating for the last 20-30 years and he has stopped the charade.

AND, the solution is NOT the Democratic answer for everything "Raise Taxes".

The solution is CUT SPENDING and CUT WASTE and CONSOLIDATE. It is a simple strategy.

In Chicago alone, they should cut the number of Aldermen and their staffs to 25. THAT would be a REAL savings - half the money would be saved, the other half put into more police (which Chicago needs). Cut out all "Gold-Star" pension nonsense as well.

The state could cut MANY programs - and not the mental health ones.

Cut down ALL the agencies and overlapping boards of directors. Another great example - RTA, CTA, PACE, METRA - CONSOLIDATE ALL OF THEM. Get rid of four boards of patronage hack jobs. You don't need 4 Chairmen either. We still have problems with METRA, PACE, CTA - one board and one chairman could address a uniform strategy quicker and more effectively - than three (or four).

The only people for status quo in Illinois are those at the public trough.

Those picking up the tab in Illinois are tired of it.
