Wrong Victim
- Last night readers reported hearing shots fired near Winthrop & Winona at 11:30pm, with the police scanner reporting that a man had been shot in the leg and shoulder. This morning the news broke that the man had died.
But this isn't the all-too-common Uptown gang-versus-gang nonsense. According to eyewitnesses and news reports this morning, it was an attempted robbery in which the victims handed over their wallets and phones, but balked when the robber tried to take the car from which they were unloading furniture. One of the would-be victims had a gun and used it.
A Concealed Carry permit holder successfully, properly and safely defended his life and that of his friend in the face of an armed gang banger who left this mortal world shortly following this encounter.
Now give this guy his gun back - soon, not a year later like that other guy - and someone slip him a box of ammo.

The guy with the fatal case of lead poisoning was out on parole for....Armed Robbery. Gee, if they'd just made him serve his entire sentence, he'd still be alive.

Commanders are dragging their feet returning weapons! The exempts think they are immune from lawsuit and try and put it off on Detectives to return weapons.
Don't forget the States attorney can also release the weapon after the court proceeding are completed.

A lifetime of victims and their families will not be traumatized now. Think about that. We all handle these things like another day at the office. The rest of the people in this world are actually scarred by these occurrences, not to mention the family members that are additionally effected.
