Whitey, Keep Your Gun
- That was the message Guns Save Life took away from a foray up to the Windy City today to trade unwanted firearms in for $100 pre-paid credit cards. Our experience felt surreal to say the least in this era when profiling – especially racial profiling – is a big no-no, especially in government service.
It all began this morning as five Caucasian members of Guns Save Life waited surreptitiously and independently in line at a Chicago gun buyback location. Out of the blue, my wife and I were told by a surly, middle-aged woman from the Mayor’s office that “we won’t be taking those today” in reference to a dozen plus long guns my wife and I brought.
I asked if she had an interest in a zip gun and held it up. She looked at it like I held a dog turd and said, “I don’t know what that is,” and walked away. Pearls before swine.
We left.
The remaining people in the lobby were asking, “Why did they turn those people away? Aren’t they trying to take guns off the streets?”
As we chatted with very amiable and professional Chicago PD officers, we watched two other Caucasian males turned away over the course of the next half-hour.
In short, we watched first-hand as every Caucasian person who walked into the facility were curtly told their firearms would not be accepted, while African-American individuals with similar quantities and types of firearms were welcomed with open arms.
Long time readers will remember the GunsSaveLife members from years past where they got many hundreds, maybe a few thousand dollars from so-called "gun turn in" events and spent the money on ammunition and programs designed to teach children about gun safety, a far more worthy cause. This would seem to have led to some pretty obvious racial-profiling by the folks (or people) running the turn-in.
We're trying to decide on the message here. White-owned guns are bad? Only black-owned guns are worthy of being turned in for $100, even though those probably aren't the guns being used on shootings? White people should keep their evil guns while black people should be disarmed? White people aren't to be allowed to benefit from a program that is supposed to render black neighborhoods safer? Profiling white people is okay?
We're so confused.

just look at the gun laws we have. They are all racist. The law allows you to take a gun anywhere as long as you lock it in you car when you get there. No guns on public trans. No guns on park property. No guns at schools. So as long as you are rich enough to afford a car you can take your gun to work or to pick up your kids or even to the range to practice. But if you are armed and you cant afford a car you cant take the train to pick up your kids or even walk to the school. You can't take the train to work. You can't walk through a city park on your way home. Which neighborhoods can't afford cars. Which neighborhoods can't legally take a gun with them when they go out. Which neighborhoods need legal gun owners who want to stay safe. Who lives in those neighborhoods?
Good. Keep the long guns, as local government suggests. Absolute shattering, nothing-left-to say lethality out of a .30-'06 from here to the door, and, if you zero it up, a much longer reach if the fire-bomb-throwing mob shows up at the end of the block after it gets done with the local liquor store and pharmacy.

That "leveled" playing field has resulted in many experienced and qualified people being benched in favor of incompetent and clouted individuals, which has caused the CPD to be in its current state of crisis.
How many members of the CPD upper echelon have ever passed even one promotional exam - just one? Even though test scores are not the ultimate measure of one's success as a leader, doesn't it make sense that you should be able to demonstrate that you possess even a modicum of knowledge regarding this job?

I was at the laundromat yesterday. A black guy and his white liberal Bernie Sanders supporter boyfriend were talking about Jason Van Dyke. Another gentleman (he was either Chinese or Japanese) chimed in. He mentioned that most of the killings of blacks is other blacks. The black guy said "there is shooting and killings in all communities, the media just ignores all of the bad stuff happening in Carol Stream or Evanston". Then everyone chimed in agreement.
If you can't admit we have a problem then we can't fix the problem.
I remember hearing gun store owners snickering about how many "junk" guns they'd dump at these buy backs. A $25 H&R revolver gets a $100 card, sure why not.
No big deal, after I was turned away I sold a gun to a black dude for $50. He just got his $100 from Rahm, so he now has a gun and $50 profit after turning in a gun. Win - win.

An FFL holder who disposed of guns in that way would very quickly have the ATF all over him and be out of business. The ATF just recently stated that the firearm dealers in the Chicago area were not a problem.

BS!!!!!! I worked the event. The nice people from GSL are from downstate Illinois. They were not gun dealers. I looked at a couple of their IDs. They lived in Bloomington, IL. That is not the Chicago area!!! Try getting out of the city or Cook County and you will see their signs on 55 and 57 once your far enough south of 80.

This I really doubt. I call BS.
If they have an FFL, they need to account for every gun in their inventory and the bound book. How can they have a real signed 4473 and signed documented background check for guns they turn in? No 4473 and no gun means he gets indicted and most likely sent to prison. There is no way a FFL will even think of dealing with guns off the books either. Not only will he lose his license, it is against the law, and he will go to federal prison. Why would they risk their federal license and jail for a few hundred dollars in gift cards?
If you saw this, you should report them to the BATFE and collect the reward.

So what? Did you read the posters? Says nothing about a limit on how many you can bring, whether they work or not, or what color or sexual orientation you must be to collect the $100. OT - Were should I take my old 1970 mint colt python's for consignment. Carried the 4 inch in training and then retired it. My 2 1/2 colt python was carried very little. First week on the street carried a 1911 colt and s & W m-19 for show. You gun guys know what these two are worth without a doubt. !!
Shore turned into a junk shop after Sig died and don't have much interest in hopping to shop to shop to let go of these fine ass pistols. You young guys got this gun shit down to a science. I will use the money to move my ass and dogs to southern Kentucky were law and order still exist.
God Bless all you brave brothers and stay safe. Keep sane this summer and do much waving to all the nice citizens in packs that are showing love to you. Then is one of the few times to hit the gas during your of evil viewing.
They are going to regret not taking the guns away from White people. The uptick in shootings in Garfield Park can be traced directly to the citizens of Glenview and Northbrook I bet.
That "leveled" playing field has resulted in many experienced and qualified people being benched in favor of incompetent and clouted individuals, which has caused the CPD to be in its current state of crisis.
How many members of the CPD upper echelon have ever passed even one promotional exam - just one? Even though test scores are not the ultimate measure of one's success as a leader, doesn't it make sense that you should be able to demonstrate that you possess even a modicum of knowledge regarding this job?

You can't have it both ways. Many an old timer has been on here and said CPD has always been like this. Still, the current state of CPD is blamed on affirmative action (i.e. "leveling the playing field" with black people). It's nonsense. By the reports of those who were here before us it wasn't fair or ethical to the average white guy way before affirmative action. All affirmative action means is give these people in these certain groups the hook ups they were excluded from previously. You guys forget that even in examscam there were black people who should have been promoted off of individual performance but were not. So how does affirmative action apply to them? It's the same crap with a new name. Black or white, rich or poor, you're either in or you're out.
Sounds like a law suit for once Caucasians can sue but probably won't get a penny from the city based on discrimination based on race.
35th street tried to get rid of former 019 Capt. Ryan by moving/dumping to inspector spot, that he clearly thought beneath his abilities, but he just won't retire. Why retire when you can make everyone at work miserable like you are, misery loves company.

To OT 1224 am, you have some excellent pieces there, if they're in near mint condition, probably between 5 and 6 grand at least. Your best bet is sell them on your own, Armslist perhaps. Some shops like MIDWEST will take them on consignment, for a percentage of course. But you should be able to get some excellent coin for them. Good luck.

This happened to a friend at one of these affairs a few years ago. He drove in from the western suburbs to a church in a really horrible area, and was told "You're not the kind of person we're looking for." Actually, they were right -- and NOBODY who walked in there was a dangerous criminal, either. They're keeping their guns.
So the point of this whole deal is...uh...
Again I will state this. Your fingerprint is the only identification used to establish your identity. Your fingerprint is your identifier and the only entity that knows who your fingerprint belongs to is the testing company who protects the identity of the test taker. Any future test or part 2 will also use your fingerprint to establish your identity and determine your score. To get your score by using your fingerprint upon exiting the test facility and be given a printout of your score after identifying yourself by star employee and photo ID. The testing company would then prepare the the report of scores in rank order and that would determine where you landed on the final list that only then would reveal the identity of the test taker. The test would have involvement from the CPD what so ever except for traffic control. Every test that I have ever taken over 30 years gave me the feeling that I did not stand any chance because I did not have any china man. The test taking process is as crooked as the crooked city by design.
Mayor Daley gave two completely fair tests in the early 1990's a sergeant teat and a lieutenant test . All on general , special orders , criminal law , rules and regulations and city ordinances . Any person that studied had a level playing field . He stuck to his guns when list for sergeants was posted , said you had to study harder . He mentioned he took bar exam a few times .
Short shanks buckled with the Lieutenant List wast posted .
This gave us the corrupt meritorious , political hack process .
The Detective test at one time was legit . Graded before you left building . Merit detectives were selected by officers that were Heros or a history of making good arrests , good disciplinary records .
This merit system is broken , many were never the Police , spent most of their careers in specialized units or working inside .
It gets worse everyday .
I worked one of these last fall. The gun dealer has old crap off the books guns, like off the books crap trade ins taken for a discount off a new gun, crap they couldn't sell or get correct parts to fix and sell. Has nothing to do with them being white, black or other. The same personnel work the buy backs and this moron gun store owner can't figure out that he recognizes these same shit guns. Has sent all his retard friends (obviously they aren't saying where they're from and guns are unregistered......buy backs are "no questions asked") in with same identical box of guns and can't put 2 and 2 together so he's trying to stir shit on the blog.
Critical thinking, boys and girls. Use your heads.

Actually... No. You obviously are from the mayor's office but posting anonymously. But I know you know nothing because gun stores CANNOT sell guns at a buy back. The BATF WILL NOT accept that in the books as a legal transfer. Maybe you should understand gun laws before you open your pie hole.
If any gun shop attempted that their FFL would be at risk.
