- A suspect in a triple homicide who later barricaded himself for about 11 hours Thursday died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head and his death was ruled a suicide, according to an autopsy.

Suing the family for slander. Heheh.
That's funny. But what coppers involved "situations" that go bad should be doing is filing suits against the bad guys (if living) or their estates (if dead) to counterpunch the inevitable suits from the families. Sue for anything and everything: your emotional distress caused by the event, PTSD, nagging constipation.....whatever. Just get it on paper and on file. The goal is to zero out anything the bad guys get with their suits.
Can't sue for slander. The police are public officials. For public officials to prevail in a slander action there must be a showing that the comments were more than false but were false, damaging, and made with reckless disregard for the truth knowing the statement was false. They'll just say "well that's what I actually thought" and that actually is good enough. Also, unlike libel, to prevail in slander action the public figure must show a profound and actual level of actua damage...the police can't say "it was a lie and it made us look bad"...Hard to prove slander...sorry to burst your bubble.

Let's examine I-57 so many shootings, they then moved to the "dirty Dan ryan" multiple shootings, then the I-55 corridor near Central, now moving North to the Kennedy! True story working a security job driving car marked with security on it, last Tuesday night, driving rain when 2 black thugs younger pulled up swerved toward me, i slowed down they rolled windows down and slowed down, yelling out "we gunna get him" , I stayed back at the stoplight they were next to me punk decided to talk shit saying "we gunna put a hole in you" so i being an old wheel gunner pulled up my trust .357 6 inch Colt Python and said "what you gunna do now" they went through red light and turned white! Was I going to be a potential victim? Possibly but i was intent on going home! The incident happened near 107th and halsted and of course car had 1/2 temp plate on it! Hope this would make them think next time they see White guy around we are not taking that animal nonsense anymore! No Im not a hero by any means just a realist!

If untrained people are going to "investigate police shootings," this should quite naturally extend into the Medical Examiner's Office.
This one would have come out "shot seven times by the police while he had his hands up and was trying to surrender," as the sister claimed, having seen the whole thing occur inside a house from a couple of blocks away.

Two killed in ANOTHER shooting on the Kennedy
"The shooting happened around 4 a.m. in the northbound lanes of Interstate 90/94 near Armitage Avenue, according to Illinois State Police.
"State police said a silver Chevrolet Tahoe stopped in the middle of the expressway, and a male driver and a female passenger were found unresponsive inside.
"Both had gunshot wounds to the head. The victims' ages were not immediately available, according to state police.
"A black semi-automatic weapon was found inside the vehicle on the floor on the driver's side, according to a news release from state police.
"As of 6:30 a.m., all northbound lanes of the Kennedy Expressway near Armitage were closed as authorities investigated the incident. Officials said the lanes may be closed for at least another hour and a half.
"Early Sunday morning, a silver SUV stood in the middle of the Kennedy Expressway just north of Armitage Avenue, surrounded by state police squad cars and a tow truck. One of the car's passenger side windows was shattered."

I don't care what the medical examiner report says. The police are still responsible for his death because they had the house surrounded and he knew they were going to kill him. So they scared him into pulling the trigger. That's what the family will say.

You pension if then frozen and you being vested cannot get a refund. Unless the CPD fires you. You are going to have to wait to 50 years of age to collect the pension based on the 15 yoj. Terrible you have had it and want to leave. Find a good paying job and don't look back, God be with you.

2.5 percent per year. So 15 x 2,5 is 38 percent. Won't get any checks until you turn 50 years of age. No raises either. Hope you have good job lined up if you are planning on resigning. Pension won't be worth anything by the time you reach 66 or so.
