Reminder - Cake and Coffee
For anyone who missed the original announcement, the Information Services Division put out an additional fax message Wednesday (#224030)
- On Thursday, 12 May 2016 at 1200 hours, a retirement cake and coffee will be held to celebrate the 35 year career of Chief Eugene E. Williams. Please join us in the Chicago Public Safety Headquarters Multi-Purpose Room, to honor Chief Williams's career and to wish him well. Overflow parking is located at the Indiana Avenue Pentecostal Church of God 3520 S. Indiana.
As people paying attention know, Gene is currently under investigation by the Inspector General of the City of Chicago regarding an allegation of blatant cheating in a special group run by Gene on company time, in Headquarters, with a copy of the actual test used as a "study guide." But hey, as long as it isn't an IAD investigation (that tipped off Gene that someone had filed a complaint) then he can retire to evade questions with all the bells and whistles.
And the fact that he leaves behind a legacy of cheating, dishonor, and unqualified supervisors (further hastening the demise of the Department) is expected to fade into memory.
At least, that's Rahm's intent...and Eddie's, seeing as how he's neck deep in the stink of this one. At least Al left town to avoid the uncomfortable questions when his wife scored number one.
And the fact that he leaves behind a legacy of cheating, dishonor, and unqualified supervisors (further hastening the demise of the Department) is expected to fade into memory.

Shear & Caruso to my knowledge (of 37 years on the job) always helped coppers when Finance or your own timekeeper fucked your pay up. I don't give a fuck if they're 80 years old. I know dozens of cops who they helped with financial stuff, or getting equipment for you districts. I'd rather see two retired cops doing that job than some City Hall whiz kid who doesn't have a clue what we do. So STFU and go back into your mommy's basement.

11:24 - you must tell me why the other 101 counties have approved IROCC Cards for retiring deputies? You probably don't realize that only Cook County has a Sheriffs Police force. You probably don't realize that the IL Constitution does not even use the term police - only Sheriffs.
That is why state statutes which authorize police forces state that you shall have the same power as Sheriffs. For some reason, CPD belittle the deputies and correctional officers. Common sense should show that we should respect other Peace Officers instead of denigrate them. The offenders that we arrest today are their headache tomorrow. And don't get me started by saying that the County is too political - as if CPD is not. Legally, police officers are mere creatures of the legislature. They are not constitutional officers. Hope you can realize that, especially when you retire to an area where you probably will depend on the service of a Sheriff's Office.

They're there every workday on the 3rd Floor North. I'm somewhat bias because both of them helped me when I really needed it. Didn't know either one before I asked for some guidance but they sat me down and helped. So I have this suggestion,why don't you stop by and inform them of their "uselessness." I'm sure they'd like to improve themselves to your satisfaction given your extensive knowledge of their short comings. Tony's been around for 48 years and Marv 46. Instead of criticizing them why don't you sit down with them and possibly learn a thing or two. Going through life with a chip on your shoulder isn't healthy. You youngsters have a great source of department knowledge available to you. Use it!!
He was the Chief od Admin. That is who gives out Retirement stars and ID's.
Even if he weren't. An open CR does not mean you retire under investigation. You only "officially" retire under investigation if the CR can get you 30 pending.....
Even if he said he held a study group, what kind of time would he get? There is nothing that says he couldn't. Not sure what his confidentiality agreement says though. It could have said separation for a violation, but that is highly unlikely.
We all know what happened, but there would never be any way to prove it unless he literally gave people the test questions and they recorded him doing it....

11:24 - you must tell me why the other 101 counties have approved IROCC Cards for retiring deputies? You probably don't realize that only Cook County has a Sheriffs Police force. You probably don't realize that the IL Constitution does not even use the term police - only Sheriffs.
That is why state statutes which authorize police forces state that you shall have the same power as Sheriffs. For some reason, CPD belittle the deputies and correctional officers. Common sense should show that we should respect other Peace Officers instead of denigrate them. The offenders that we arrest today are their headache tomorrow. And don't get me started by saying that the County is too political - as if CPD is not. Legally, police officers are mere creatures of the legislature. They are not constitutional officers. Hope you can realize that, especially when you retire to an area where you probably will depend on the service of a Sheriff's Office.

Marv Shear was a tact guy back in the 70's in the old 20th District and a great cop. "Useless pos?" Shear & Caruso to my knowledge (of 37 years on the job) always helped coppers when Finance or your own timekeeper fucked your pay up. I don't give a fuck if they're 80 years old. I know dozens of cops who they helped with financial stuff, or getting equipment for you districts. I'd rather see two retired cops doing that job than some City Hall whiz kid who doesn't have a clue what we do. So STFU and go back into your mommy's basement.

Hi Marv! Thanks for your comments. Now go place your lunch order with Tony. Make sure he doesn't screw it up - he's getting District Administrative Manager pay to do that and answer your phones, even though the position was supposed to be eliminated years ago. Where are all of the other DAM's? Oh yeah...FIRED. Better yet, why don't you two do the Department a favor and RETIRE...for the second time!
Fellow Sergeants who have been scammed and cheated out of a legitimate opportunity to be promoted to Lieutenant because of this most recent examscam! We must band together and have our collective voices heard. If we as a group would boycott VRI for the month of July we could kick the city's ass. This should be more important then the money for one month. This is about integrity and principles. Please, we can do this with no individual repercussions. It's not a work stoppage or action. It's voluntary work that the city relies on, especially in the summer. It's time to be heard Loud and Clear. This is the way to do it. You see a Sergeant working VRI in July and they are a fucking scab to never be forgiven.

It's State Statue that enables the Cook County Sheriff's Police Department to exist because of population in the County.
When did CPD start belittling the Deps and Corrections? Oh yeah, always.
Used to be an existence of a Cook County Sheriff's Police and Corrections Merit Board.
When the Deps were given Merit recognition, it was changed to the Cook County Sheriffs Merit Board.

Caruso is a fine person, he helped to expedite many persons money owed at retirement ie: time due, furlough etc. I have known Tony since the 1980s and he was always a helpful person to the troops. He expedited my payoff.

Shear was part of a large group in Finance that hit on the lottery. I believe they all got $18,000 per year for 20 years. Comes out to about $360,000. Not a million but not bad either. That was in the 80's so those checks stopped coming a long time ago.

corruption and incompetence has always been the watch word for Cook County sheriffs, despite many good people over there. I would not want the job in the jails. The court baliffs, way too many aholes with political appointments. The sheriffs police? They started to become dismantled when O'Grady got there? Sorry my friend. I worked with them in the 70's. Some pretty good people but they were accused of covering up or participating in murder and were ridden with politics, just as they are now. The problem with law enforcement in Cook County is the fact that all agencies have plenty of fine people who have to struggle under a patronage system and racial spoils system the breeds incompetence, influence, bad moral and corruption. Lets not rewrite history. I am hoping that DOJ exposes CPD for all that it is, a corrupt politically controlled agency staffed with plenty of good people who struggle to make a career out of it

FUCK YOU you stupid fuck CCSP a hair more legit than the Dixmore Park police, You could buy stars and Sheriff titles all throughout the 50s,60s,70s, ask Walter Payton hed had one or half of the business owners downtown they did it so the can carry guns (weekend bailiffs). Roughly 20 people each received 38K for 20 years. Comes out to 760K total before taxes. They each probably netted half a million skins. The bunch of do nothings collected the money, bought the tickets, copied the tickets and distributed the copies all on company time. They should have tossed a percentage back to the CPD coffer. Or, a day's pay at a minimum. Oy vey!
