Guilty Plea

  • Paris Sadler’s attorneys spent days arguing why his arrest for shooting a Chicago Police officer should be thrown out, and why the .38-caliber handgun found in his South Side home should not be allowed at trial because the weapon was recovered in an illegal search.

Through the arduous pretrial stages, which exposed controversial tactics used by authorities, a veteran prosecutor was fired for allegedly lying in an evidentiary hearing against Sadler.

But before Sadler, 24, was given the chance to prove his innocence to a jury, he decided on Wednesday to plead guilty to shooting and seriously injuring Officer Del Pearson.
"arduous pretrial stages"? Arduous to whom exactly?

"prove his innocence"? If it was so overwhelming, why take a twenty-five year plea?

Half-assed reporting by police-haters again.

Great job by ASA Groth and Mahoney. The A-Team was on it. Great job by the District, Gang Team and the Detectives. Hope there is some closure for you Del. Lt Kapa, your quick actions most likely prevented a tragedy.

At least Judge Wilson did not capitulate to the defense. How many other of our distinguished jurists would have done the same thing?
Hope Off. Pearson receives some closure to this nightmare.

Half assed reporting?

Have you read how Ben Rhoades, Obama's foreign policy whiz kid lied his ass off about the Iran Nuclear Deal?
He was bragging how he misled the idiots in the DC press corps.
The reporters are all a bunch of clueless buffoons, but they are the ones telling the nation the news.

These are the best and brightest of the "journalism profession?"
No wonder the stories you see are so poor. The average journalist is a self important moron.

Why even participate in acknowledging how the television and newspapers do their jobs. Print news is "edited" , televised news is "produced" . Both editing and produced means the product is manipulated. We are beefing about a product that is created. Stop pandering to this. This product is used to control the masses. We as an organization will never change it. Let's stop whining about it.

All of these two faced Chicago reporters are liberal police haters. They love to play up to the police like they are on your side and they want you to tell them the story or have you relate it yourself on tape.
Don't be a fool. Don't be a chump. Stay fetal safe and unaggravated. Got home with your job and reputation in tact.
Now the judges are getting in on dumping on the police too. Why don't they complain to the rag papers when the lawyers lie in court?
How about all the reasons they need continuances? How about where s there client.

I read this more as tongue-in-cheek. That after all this, the fool was guilty in the end, and he knew it. Ruined careers, bodies, wasted time and money. And was dead on guilty anyway. The End.

The media are not you friends. Repeat after me the media are not your friends. Any copper who talks to any reporter is a a fool and if you talk to them they will make you look like one to the public or your fellow police officers or your family.
If they approach you for an interview ignore them like you would a time-share salesman.
Stay fetal, stay safe, keep your job, keep your bank account.

Pleading Guilty is probably the wisest thing this mutt Sadler ever did. Hope he has a nice time with his 25 years in prison. (hope the mutt's not out in 12 1/2)

That being said I found this blurb in the article, by Sun-Times crack reporter Rummana Hussain, a bit of a head-scratcher; .......
--- But before Sadler, 24, was given the chance *to prove his innocence* to a jury... ---

So either Sadler was going with an Affirmative Defense, or Rummana Hussain is;
--- a) totally ignorant of the America's Judicial System, or
--- b) not exactly fluent in English and meant something completely different, or
--- c) being an anti-cop leftist, tried writing something profound ---- and FAILED

(iirc Affirmative Defenses are expensive as hell for a defendant as he has to hire a team to reinvestigate everything and come up with new evidence 'proving' his innocence.)

Slum-Times and Lib-une hate police.
Lib-une wants me to pay for their online news. Right! I'll send a check immediately.

Reinstate Capital Punishment throughout US.
No expensive IV's. Shot or hanged.

Once the brothers/criminals watch their buddies die, maybe they'll think twice about shooting an officer, or anyone for that matter.

Crime WILL decrease. It's possible, liberals like things the way they are. At least for the time being. Or until one of their own gets slugged by a thug.

25 years. This is a huge loss for cpd and the victims and a major win for Sadler and the defense. If found guilty at trial he would have been given 60 years like when the detective was shot by the selvie house in 009. If it weren't for over zealous plainclothes teams and bosses who wanted to be in charge of everything this would have gotten done right. Nobody wanted to listen to what the dics had to say on scene. 004 tac teams, area teams, gang investigations and gang area teams all wanted that big pinch and we're gonna get things done first, ask questions later and then let the dics try to figure out and sort everything out in the end so it would all jive.. Instead none of it jived because people were not patient. Let it be a lesson to everyone when you get to a shooting involving the police. Everything you do will be scrutinized and looked over with a microscope. Don't do anything unless the dics tell you. If an exempt tells you to kick a door, search a car or recover something don't do it unless you clear it with a detective!!! This should have, and with pacience would have been a slam dunk case until slick boys and bosses decided to take it into their own hands. Should have gotten 60 years and possibly life but gets 25 years instead... Several years already in custody and not having to serve 100 percent of his sentence and only 85 percent with just over 4 years already served he will be out in just under 17 years. Yeah, 17 years for almost murdering a police officer will get out on his 40th birthday. Many of the guys involved with that arrest, including Pearson would have still been on the job when he gets out. Glad for a conviction and all but a major win for sadler

Read the article in tribune. Not one mention of the officer pearsons condition or whether he returned to duty. Did he lose his career over this? Is he ok ?

To 12:32 pm. Not a major win for Sadler. The lesson to be learned is to not let a witness record an interview and don't tear up handwritten statements. You're an idiot

Doing things correctly is NOT a priority when it comes to tact teams, gang teams, etc. With almost 30 years on job, and the last 14 years as a homicide detective I cannot tell you how many times my partner and I have had verbal altercations with supervisors of tact and gang teams, because their TEAM was only focused on recovering a fucking gun or getting a CB number, while fucking up the entire investigation. NEWS FLASH to all the SUPER COPS: Detectives DO NOT care about recovered guns or CB numbers, we just want the investigation to be handled properly and professionally. You can have ALL the recovered guns and CB numbers your little hearts desire, just STOP fucking up and contaminating crime scenes so you can brag over a couple beers what a GREAT police officer you are. Or better yet, Stay Off Our Crime Scenes. Thank you.
