No Grace Period
City sticker time - if you stayed on the old schedule:
- Chicago City Clerk Susana A. Mendoza is urging Chicago motorists to be aware of a change in grace period rules regarding deadlines for purchasing and displaying their Chicago City Vehicle Sticker.
Beginning July 1, 2016, changes to the Chicago Municipal Code regarding the grace period will make motorists eligible to be ticketed immediately following their vehicle sticker's expiration.
For example, if your vehicle sticker expires on June 30, you are eligible to be ticketed on July 1. The $200.00 ticket can be issued daily.
The grace period for late fees will be extended from 15 to 30 days effective July 1. A motorist with a vehicle sticker expiring June 30 will have until July 30 to purchase a sticker without paying an additional $60.00 late fee

One reason police are not popular is that you are too often seen as armed bullies extorting money for Rahm and his Fifty Thieves. Any time the citizens interact with you, it usually costs them money. And $200 bucks is big money to a lot of us.
The NYPD rank and file scared the crap out of the administration when they stopped handing out tickets for two weeks. Their socialists in City Hall realized that the city budget was going to be broken if the cop didn't start issuing tickets quickly. Lots of tickets to keep the city budget afloat!

I don't want read a single comment from a Cop griping about this.
Reason I say the above is the simple fact that I would see cops on foot patrol in 20 and 18 and 19 and 24 and 16 and 17 checking windshields every July 16th back when every City Sticker expired on June 3th.
I've also heard about complaints of tickets issue for a city sticker being expired before the 16th of the month and 90% of those tickets were issued by Cops in certain areas that are considered "fast districts."

Silly Susie is at it again. And this lady wants to run for statewide office (Comptroller)???
She was Rahmulus's Chief Cheerleader in the Hispanic community and she's rewarded with a nod to run for higher office & financial backing. Her main claim to fame was eliminating the artwork on city stickers after picking one with gang symbols as well as a crackdown on puppy mills. I feel so much safer with all that hard work.
Maybe she could create a display of old city stickers that used to have artwork for the Lucas Museum of narrative art. Hervie could narrate with a song and sing a duet with little Louie Gutierrez on the values of good citizenship and avoiding gangs and joyriding in hot cars.

When I moved out of state I asked the guy down the road wher I could pick up my city sticker. He asked me what that was. He never heard of a city sticker or a wheel tax.
You need to move. Was living in Cook County, sticker was $30 a year. Moved to Will County,this town actually eliminated the sticker program, raised the Com Ed tax slightly to cover it. Sticker here was $30 also. No more stupid stickers yearly....I feel for you Chicago mandated living cops. The City of Chicago stinks.

Hey asswipe, Garfield Ridge, or Garcia Ridge as you call it, does not compare to West Lawn, Humboldt Park, Pilsen, etc. If you don't believe me then check out the average home sale price. So you can get off that bullshit.
Also, the revenue people are who go around my neighborhood, Garfield Ridge, and write the city sticker tickets. I have seen them. I register my car to my suburban police department. I've lived in Chicago for my entire life and since I got on the job 9 years ago, after turning down CPD for somewhere where police work makes a difference, I haven't bought a city sticker and I don't plan to. Fuck this city. If I didn't have to live here to be geographically close to an elderly, sick family member I'd move the fuck out. Soon as said family member is gone, so am I. But just so you know, I see the revenue vans patrolling hard in Garfield Ridge, fucking over the taxpayers, half of whom are city workers. They sure as fuck aren't doing shit in Englewood. They only pimp the law abiding tax paying residents. Maybe you guys should have a talk with your revenue buddies and tell them to hit the ghetto and not those who don't partake in public aid. It's your families that they're fucking. I would also have a problem with those ghetto ass revenue scumbags wearing badges. You should talk to your Union about that. They're not the police and no one appreciates them fronting like they have some kind of authority. They're ticket writers - that's it.
Any cop that writes a city sticker ticket to anyone (except someone you have previously encountered and know to be a piece of shit) should be ashamed of themselves. I've never written one where I work, and I don't intend to. Chicago and every suburb around it should find their own ways to generate revenue besides extorting their residents. I checked Suzie's website to see what the sticker pay is. Says $85.97 - Went to the cityofchicago website to purchase, the price quoted in $86.69 - a 72 cents difference. I'm not giving this city 1cent extra. I double-checking Susie's website and it's quoting last year's price!

They can and will ticket you the law is not registered but where vehicle is "garaged or parked" look around by Orange line cars on street with parking permits pilots etc out of state plates but they have Chicago sticker displayed! Is Mendoza trying to hire more hispanics for investigator jobs, that are the same jobs done by revenue?

And did you ever bother to check the second page when running a plate? All registered owners of the vehicle and their Current DL are listed. And have you checked the City Clerks website? States that regardless of registration, city residents are required to purchase and display. And have you forgotten the vehicle form City Employees have to fill out every year where we are required to list the make and plate # and the serial # of the city sticker on each vehicle?

As of 5/18/2016 you no longer are required to get that damn Pickup Truck/Van permit in addition to your city sticker.
But please check out the wording of 9-64-170E
We start hunting for unmarked Commercial Use vehicles/2nd Division vehicles hard core as of the official ordinance amendment announcement next week.

Remember that little Suzy has her own staff of License Investigators rolling around the City in unmarked, non city fleet vehicles. I've heard some even Carry Concealed while working. I've also heard they have new access to be able to compare vehicle owner info against city employment records, property ownership records and water bills.
And one other thought...
If you are going to cherry pick how you enforce Title 9 ordinances, then Lateral out. Do it equally or don't do it at all, including street cleaning to the jagoff in 025 that skips some vehicles on the blocks and writes others on the same block

I'll say it again. There are a lot of people that live in Chicago and register their
vehicles outside of Chicago. Let's call them scofflaws. They register their vehicles
at mommy and daddy's house, the summer home, a relative's home, anywhere
they can have their registration sent to. These same people then park their vehicles
on Chicago streets freely, while the rest of us pay the wheel tax. My solution is
requiring all vehicles that park on city streets overnight, to be required to display
a city sticker. So if you are in town from the burbs and you are having an overnight
visit with your significant other you will have to purchase a city sticker. Whatever
the scenario, if you are parked on a Chicago street during the overnight hours
you will have to buck up like the rest of us. Hey Rahm, instead of finding ways to
fleece the honest residents like me, why don't you go after the scofflaws that avoid the
wheel tax, late fees and fines altogether. This idea would not affect businesses since
enforcement would take place during the overnight hours. Hey Mendoza and the 50
thieves are reading this? Pass the ordinance and let's increase revenue and free up
some street parking spots. Now I will wait for the criticism and name calling from the
SCOFFLAWS.
For $200/day ticket, one can easily justify the cost of a forwarding mailbox located just outside the Shitty limits. Register the vehicle to that address. Some of them will even give you a "physical address" to satisfy those fools that won't accept a PO box...

The Chicago Police Dept used to use ticket revenue to pay for the police budget, which is the largest city Dept, (now it is the Dept of Revenue) but the meters were sold and all that revenue was gone. The taxpayers are now exclusively the piggy bank. Sad.

I submitted that suggestion to my Assistant Director and the Alderperson of the 43rd ward where I used to live before moving to Jeff Park. I suggest it cover all streets that fit the definition of Residential under code 9-4-010 and that are not Active Residential Permit Zones (6p to 6am or w/e). And cover 9pm to 9am every day. And to Empower the "several wards" to sell an "Overnight Residential Street parking permit" for those people that have guests from out of town or state or the country come and visit. And I even suggested it to the former 38th Ward Ald and the Former 41st and 43rd Ward Ald.
Anyone hear care to comment on what it is like trying to get Ald Burnett to listen to a good idea that wasn't originally His?
