Summer Mobile is operating as 4400 units, and they're working the west side tonight - 011, 015, 010. No beaches there, so all this noise about "more cops to keep the beaches safe" turns out to be BS.
So the Summer Mobile Force isn't going to be anywhere near the beaches? They stripped every District/Unit of 2 Officers to create a reaction force of eighty cops? Amazing.

It certainly appears to be true.
If I read the AMC message about the reincarnated VRI program correctly, it appears that THOSE coppers will be stationed beachside, in the foot tunnels, etcetera. They're even waiving the activity requirement for July and making it available for D2 and D2A pay grades (can you say "DESPERATION"?). The way placement along the lakefront by seniority and by the area/district in which the officer normally works is a total abortion that screams 'grievance' and needs to be discussed at another time.
Anywho... from all appearances the department that never fails to disappoint when it comes to sticking it in the ass of the rank and file has come through yet again. They okeydoked all these fucking dildos that just HAD to get away from pushing a beat car on 1/W across town. Those entitled 3-7 year wonders never seem to want to listen to what the old timers tell them time and time again.
I certainly hope it's true cuz I've got a pocketful of "I told ya so" and "Suck it up, Buttercup" ready to go.
I'll say it again for all the hardheaded motherfuckers that still seem to think this farce of a department has their best interests in mind: don't volunteer for shit on this job. You are merely a pawn and your use and abuse by this job is entirely in your own hands. Anyone who believed they would be "CPD Baywatch" is soft in the head. One of my friends in a ghetto district decided to volunteer, saying that "I could use some time away from the ghetto, it'll be a nice break." Riiiiiiiiiiiiight. I tried to tell him. Now he's f'en pissed.

Sorry guys, but I don't feel sorry for anyone who volunteered. The city would never just GIVE us a good opportunity like that, it's always what's in their own best interest.
I DO feel bad for the reverse seniority guys and gals though, talk about getting the shaft. Especially the ones that went from nice districts, units, or the detective division.

Not completely true I saw 44s out at north Ave beach at just before midnight. There were also coppers on atv/papv on the beach so hopefully that continues because the situation was way more contained than a couple of weeks back.
Illusion and slight of hand is the new police model. We can no longer do anything given the parameters we must work under with the Progressives protecting the criminals, so we pretend to.

I'm in the unit. Some cars go to the beaches. Some go to the ghetto. Luck of the draw so far. I don't like that the Sgts are pushing for activity. Yeah, blow me. No bicycles or PAPVs (ATVs) for us. No shorts, no ball caps.

Out of the 90 or so on summer mobile only 3 volunteered. everyone else is reverse seniority. their bosses are pushing for activity. i know, lets take force people to work a detail and expect them to work for us. i'm in where do i sign up?
no sympathy here. it said right on the message that they could be used anywhere, not just parks and beaches. but, one has to wonder why the tact Lt from 020 would give up his spot to go. as far as VRI goes, the idiot bosses fucked that up when they stopped letting cars roam sector and district wide and restricted them to 2 x 2 block boxes. before that, guys were bringing in Contact cards, parkers, movers, and anovs to show activity because you had to give a copy of it to your vri sgt before checkoff. then the morons changed that because "people were getting shot in the boxes while everyone was making copies", so nobody turned in anything and people still got shot, but it was right outside the box so I guess it was ok. Morons.

FYI Second and Third watch on Sunday be prepared for the District callout teams to be mobilized for the first time in 22 years. There is a plan to call out Incident teams from every district tomorrow for the Gay Pride Parade, both as a test and to cover manpower needs if things go up for grabs, as usual. Last time they tested this was 1993, I was there when everyone was called to Soldier Field. Last unit got there 3 hours after the callout.....
I work a Beat car at the 18th District,Heavy Police presence at the beach last night,I was there.
I have plenty of time on, well into double digits and I volunteered. I'm already in a ghetto district so what's the difference. I figured that's where I'd be sent. No big deal. My main reason was to get away from the slave driving dispatchers who treat coppers like crap...can't stand them. I'm not worried what others think. I'll throw them some activity and respond to assist district guys even if they think I'm a sellout. So far, it's pretty decent. I think guys with time on pushing a beat car in the hood may have passed on a decent detail and break from the radio. Guys with time are just so burnt out, frustrated, and jaded from being treated like crap that they wont take a chance on something...I understand. But while you stew like I did, all the young guys are getting everything you worked your ass for. I do feel sorry for guys who got reverse seniority.

When Wiberg made Lt he went to 005 with Sean L. Once Sean made Captain Wiberg became the Tact Lt. Once KJ became the Commander Wiberg bid to 007. He thought he was going to Gangs but it never materialized. Kenneth Johnson will go and do whatever they tell him to. No questions asked.

Years back when I was up in Gangs North they would detail some of us to SMF. It was a change and the lakefront was safe. We would close the beaches at 1045 pm. Some people were nasty and we had our share of crybaby coppers who just didn't want to do a thing. Districts would send the dogs which didn't help. With today's temperature toward the Police I would do just what I needed. Please don't criticism SOS, I was there for a long time and we were a needed force. 1 watch was wild and caused the Finnegan group to run wild. This department needs units like SOS, MSF AND TRU. THE DISTRICTS ARE OVERWORKED AND HAVE PEOPLE WHO HAVE NO BUSINESS WEARING A POLICE UNIFORM DUE TO THE FACT THEY DON T WORK.
Wayne Wiberg is a good guy. He just got conflicted while on SWAT and decided to leave. Maybe being in this unit all summer the powers to be will take care of him and not send him back to 007. Wayne will have your back when things go bad.
