More Money for Brass

Good thing the Department cancelled VRI - they're going to need the money:
  • Even as the City of Chicago faces a financial crisis, the Chicago Police Department is hiring a new leadership team with high-end salaries that total close to $700,000.

Anne Kirkpatrick, relocating from Spokane, Washington, will be the Chief of the newly-created Bureau of Professional Standards, the department announced Tuesday. Kirkpatrick was one of the three finalists for the Superintendent position, but will now serve as the main liaison to the Department of Justice as it conducts a top-to-bottom review of CPD's practices. Kirkpatrick will make $186,000 a year, the Department confirmed.

The new Chief of Staff, Robert Boik will make $175,000 a year after holding a similar position at the Chicago Public Schools.

After 20 years at the Cook County State's Attorney's office, Charisse Valente, will become the new General Counsel for the Chicago Police Department, and will be paid $160,000 a year.

In a newly created position, Robin Robinson, a former news anchor for Fox TV and WBBM news radio, will be the Special Adviser to Superintendent Eddie Johnson for Community Affairs. Her salary will be $150,000 per year.
Amazing, Rahm always finds ways to find money when he wants it, but not-so-much when he's legally obligated to provide it.

The Police...
Are NOT!
...The problem in Chicago.

The REAL problem IS that
maniacal little hair-on-fire,
Rumplestiltskin
looking fuck-prize from some
legendarily malignant place.

Rahm Emanuel is the burglar who isn't
content to steal your stuff and get gone.

He'd crap in your best pot and put it

"WHOOO!"<

Yes... Foul m/fers have done that.

You "Silent Majority" types really
have no clue as to how low these
m/fers are. Policemen are a special
and privileged few for seeing human
debasement and debased humans
up close and personal for one-third
to one half or more of a typical human
lifespan.

(But The Police are "the problem"
according to the popular narrative.)

Kirkpatrick sounds like a winner:

“I will stand behind my officers, but I will not tolerate egregious officer misconduct,” she told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram in 2015 when she was a finalist for the top job there, describing herself as "strict."

"Kirkpatrick and the Spokane Police Guild had a tumultuous relationship as she attempted police reform and high-profile disciplinary actions that were overturned in court many times," the paper reported.

When she left Spokane, the department had "low morale," according to Spokane media reports.

PS when is dean going to sue Dougherty for the cost of the shields lawsuit????

Ok, let me understand this. Is it because Robin Robinson is qualified how? To be Eddie Johnsons advisor? How is she qualified? What LAW ENFORCEMENT background does she have? I believe her qualifications are only surface related...BLACK and FEMALE! It is time for AFFIRMATIVE ACTION to disappear PEOPLE!!! That RACIST crap of UNFAIRNESS has RUN IT'S COURSE!!! I believe the DOJ is investigating the WRONG department, on top of that I believe they have promised certain people such as Craig Futterman, Jamie Kalvin of Invisible Institute, and Jeremy Gorner of Chicago Tribune to systematically nit pick the police and expose us by putting our private information online so as to cause harm to some excellent police officers. Watch your backs you three, the Government could be coming after you guys next. OBAMA won't be president forever!

Anyone who can't see the handwriting on the wall right about now is not paying attention , does not care or has been unconscious. The mayor will do anything, anything, to remain in power. The establishment wants him to remain in power for they are afraid of what they might get if he leaves. It is all about maintaining control of the city, its many contracts and jobs and the money that holding the city can generate. People have been put in place to watch over Johnson and to control him. If the mayor and the progressives get what they want, all police officers will be investigated and judged by civilians with no insight from the department allowed. The progressives want to take due process away from the police and keep everything within a civilian review board. The union must become political, stay strong and united in the coming few years in order to come out of this with some semblance of justice for the cops or the most routine procedure can and will be either the basis for you suspension or dismissal or even prosecution. Look at the Baltimore case. Failure to buckle in a fighter resulted in criminal prosecution for all involved, from the arresting officers to the assist officers to the transporting officer to two supervisors who happened to come by. I believe that all six will end up acquitted but I also predict that the Baltimore department will fire all six regardless. Whats next? suspension for handcuffs too tight? It is sad that the progressives who know nothing about being the police or what it takes to control crime now become the judges of all things related to law enforcement.

Sick. We know quite a few PO's that could do a better job for less pay and not require increasing payroll.

This is a total fail. Sorta like body cameras, ISR's, TRR's, and IPRA doing investigations only to turn the work product over to private attorneys that then sue the city for millions.

Obamanation at it's finest.

OT. Rahm and Hillary have to turn over gov't emils on private accounts to the world per judicial order.

Need wording in pension that once you hit exempt no More pension raises.
If the Mayor want you to lead the City it should not come out of the pension fund.

I know Dean it is complicated.
I explain it like I once did in your so called class.

Picture the mayor hires 100 exempts at 200k a piece. should that value at 4 years at grade equal forever?
Start counting exempts who retire at the hire scale salary! it is a theft.

From Crain's Chicago Business, Greg Hintx column on 9Jun16:

I was able to catch Robinson on her cellphone, and she told an interesting tale.

Robinson said she was out at brunch recently with two young friends, both community activists, and she looked up and saw Johnson, whom she'd never met, at the next table. "I didn't recognize him," Robinson said. "I told him to be careful, or he'd be profiled; he was wearing a hoodie."

The group talked and exchanged information, and Johnson later offered her a job, Robinson continued.

"I took the job because Eddie Johnson convinced me he's about radical change . . . improving relations” between the community and police. In her job as a journalist, "I didn't just do a story and walk away. I've been involved in every corner of the city. I am involved in community affairs just about every day."

Asked for an example, Robinson told me what was on her calendar yesterday. Included were a meeting with a group seeking park improvements, a sit-down with the mother of a slain teenager and a session with a theater group that wants to stage a play about changing race relations.

"This city can't continue to look like two cities," concluded Robinson, who lives in the South Loop. Sometimes people look at police and see the enemy, and police look at a young person and see a threat. "We need to change perceptions."

I love reading the Roussel brown nosers who don't know his real colors. He is slime and will throw anyone under the bus to keep his spot. Just like he did to Tracy once McCarthy left. I was at MSF with him. He comes off polished but then you see all of his crazy ideas and you start to realize he is a complete idiot. By the way he isn't a colonel like most say. Start being a leader instead of following him around and listening to his bs stories. Most people that I know who actually did something. Don't talk about it! I am so glad that I retired.

I'm Done says

Off topic, what kills me is these new sos, mfu, etc. units that there conjuring up again. I've heard a lot of coppers and bosses jumping on each other to get these spots. Then your going to say it's mostly young whipper snappers (PPO's) not...
The same PO's that ran with the units of past, the same lot of PO's that got fucked on the bad districts. The whole bunch of coppers on this department is whats wrong, not the bosses. These days policing is over, unless you want to be the next youtube sensation. Bosses are loosing their attempts of intimidation toward some PO's, because PO's with even a little time on the job are not scared of the antics of a lot of bosses. Many PO's today are more careful now more than ever and are reading up on general orders, rules and regulations, etc. The bosses on the other hand now a days especially the young inexperienced merit dushbags couldn't manage a circus of clowns on their best day. Don't stay fetal boys and girls, remain comatose until all this shit is gone. As far as this topic, the powers that be will always do what ever they want at least till they die. I've got god willing 3 maybe 4 more years retiring at still a young age of 53 having done 30 yrs. on this once great department and in good health, hell still pushing a beat car on the south side in 7 to top it off for a good 15yrs. now, half a career in 7. I should of got my head examined many a years ago. Well I'm not the only PO that's going to retire soon but god bless you all and remain comatose.....

I worked for JR in 015 when he was a Gang Sgt., nice guy but not the Police. He was a tact guy in 016 before that. I agree with the poster that he said has nothing better to do with his life. He should retire, life is short, enjoy what time you have left. The job will never be the same in our lifetime, Police work as we know it is over and gone for quite awhile, if not forever.

He was a great test taker that was given the answers and never really was a policeman . If this idiot would stop dictating how specialized units should run and let the supervisors run them things would run a lot smoother . I hope Rousell or the Superintendent have the insight to send him to a district as a field Lt. and let him finish his so called career in the trenches ! Oooooohhhhhhppphhhaaaa!

The City of Chicago is always crying about having no money. They always drag on our police contract, always trying to screw us. No money for school teachers. Are our pensions secured ? Why do we need all these police political puppets ? Rahm wants to raise property taxes. People are moving out of the city. Crime is out of control. The city keeps giving out money in law suits. Rahm has to be voted out in the next election.

I would say that, conservatively, Roussell and the other recycled hodgepodge of farmed-out has beens recently hired on by Rahm (to help EJ and JE properly manage the department) raised the budgetary costs of the dept. by at least an additional $800K in six figure salaries. But what the hey, when you add up last year's $116 million dollar overtime spent (AND FOR WHAT??) I guess an additional $800K isn't so bad, as I expect that overtime will be down significantly this year, overall.

Undoubtedly they will be worth every penny. Actually those salaries are not very high for top tier professionals. Any lawyer more than three-four years out of law school and worth his/her salt should be able to earn more than $400,000 a year.

6/09/2016 04:32:00 PM

Seriously, you think these people are "top tier?" I would also suggest that 90% of lawyers in this country make under $400,000/yr. Look at our gold stars. How many of them, or how many executives in Chicago government are top tier? I would suggest that very few are!!!!!!

From Crain's Chicago Business, June 8, 2016:

"Robinson's initial task has been to set up a series of community forums Johnson has attended, something she's been doing on her own time, Guglielmi added. And while her position is new, the department will shift the needed funds from an unfilled administrative slot rather than on-the-street police, he said.

Still, it's all green. At $150,000, Robinson effectively will be worth two rookie officers who could be on patrol."

So they're paying her from an unfilled exempt spot.

Sorry to tell you but this poster is right on! Plenty will agree. Georgas is a big fat idiot. He doesn't really know what it's like to be the real police stuck in patrol for any decent amount of time. And that's my 2 cents, and I am not the original poster.

JR was a pretty decent watch sergeant in 015. He was probably still in shock wandering around the westside after making it out of 016. Then they disbanded Gangs and he got a uniformed team of those who didn't make it to SOS(?). What happened to him after 95 I have no clue, though unlike most of the other Tact/Gang white shirts in 015 after pacman, he was not banished with a brick.

I made 25 yrs otj, this past Feb
Turned 55 in April.
Do I have to put in my papers by October this year to get the free insurance?
Or, if I haven't already, is it too late?
Can't seem to get a definitive answer.
Called the Pension Board yesterday...they weren't sure.
Called FOP, left message. No return call as of yet.

Thanks in advance.

Gary Schenkel was a good boss. He wasn't ordered by Cline to leave the Academy. That weasel Daley ordered Cline to have him escorted out with less than one hour notice. One of the officers working there had to give him a ride home because he had a take home car and was ordered to relinquish the keys! Gary is a class act. The way he was fired was a disgrace.
