Official Numbers

The media seem to agree.

First up, the Sun Times:
  • Six people were killed, including a 15-year-old girl, and at least 63 others were wounded in shootings across Chicago over Memorial Day weekend.

The total number of people shot during the weekend this year surpassed the 2015 holiday, when 55 people were shot, 12 fatally, over Memorial Day weekend.
  • Just after midnight, in one of the last shootings of the Memorial Day weekend, two people pulled out guns and started firing in East Garfield Park.

The first call to police early Tuesday was for one person shot on Homan Avenue. Then a second victim. Then a third. Then someone walked into a hospital a few minutes later.

In all, 27 of the 69 people hit by gunfire over the weekend were shot in or near the Harrison District, one of the city's most violent and one of the most heavily patrolled by police.

So many people were shot there that Deputy Superintendent John Escalante promised Sunday to beef up patrols. Nine more people were shot there by early Tuesday.
We guess the Deputy Chief must have been vacationing or something. How else do you account for 39.1% of the shootings being concentrated in one District? He certainly wasn't efficiently using the "beef[ed] up patrols" that Escalante sent over. After all, every single cop couldn't have been on Facebook, could they?

The HeyJackass.com official numbers?
  • Good morning SCC,

Our unofficial-official tally is 7 killed, 68 wounded from 12p Friday through early this AM. We haven't yet counted the LSD hit job, but will likely do so soon, which would make for 8 killed.

Therefore the Official SCC Memorial Day Weekend Tally (powered by HJ) is 7 killed and 63 wounded.

    -WHT
We started the clock at 1700 hours Friday and ran it until midnight Monday night, which totals 62 shot and 6 of those dying, along with the lady run over on Lake Shore Drive (7 dead). That means a few missed the cutoffs we arbitrarily set.

In any event, quite a display.

But the fun REALLY happens when you dig into the stats. Just like Mother's Day, the 2016 number of shootings equalled or exceeded the COMBINED totals for the same periods of the two previous years. Mother's Day total episodes for 2016 equalled the combined numbers for '14 and '15 . . . Over/Under -1 KIA/+1 wounded. Memorial Day 16
was less lethal overall than 14-15 combined, but produced more injured than '14 and '15 combined.

July 4th is a Monday. Lots of people will probably take Friday the 1st off . . . sick, vacation, compressed work week, whatever. In effect, a 4 day stretch of carn- I mean weekend. Whatever the combined numbers came to for 14 and 15, plus another 15-25% . . . Maybe the traffic choppers can rent some big ass speakers and cue up "Ride of the Valkyries."
Just for atmosphere . . .

The Cop around every corner Strategy employed over the weekend certainly had an effect on the number of shootings. Are we sure about that? HJ had shootings up 30% from last year. Those Ghettovians are a determined bunch, I think you should just pass a new law or something.

Well, looks like a lot of wasted overtime dollars was spent.
Maybe more "faith" based services or whatever Escalante was babbling about are needed

Deputy chief/commander Jones, unfortunately has no experience on the street and couldn't come up with a strategy to combat the violence if his life depended on it. He has led a predestined career path, most of which was spent in an office. The one consistent truth is that wherever he has been he has made things much much worse. As stated repeatedly, he has zero personality and has been promoted way past his limited abilities. I am hoping his sponsor is Gene Williams, so hopefully his rise through the ranks has stopped. He has done enough damage.

Are they "beef[ing] up patrol" as in, letting the police patrol? Or are they just adding police bodies from patrol in another unit/district and telling them to stay in their box, so that crime moves to where the box is not? Cop in a box doesn't work. They just don't get it.

63 shot 6 dead.

DOJ, ACLU, Body Camera's, mics, in car camera, and coming soon to a district near you...........wait for it........... legislation no longer requiring the our arrestees, I mean our accusers, to sign affidavits.

Yup.
Perception - 99%
Execution - 1%
Policing = 100%

Since the increased patrols in the so-called bad neighborhoods (ghetto) is not working, can we move more police to districts like 016 where property values matter.

Yeah, more grants for revs to keep the Escalades freshly waxed. That'll reduce crime.

I liked the "my baby not in no gang" crybaby story. Did the reporter ask her what her 15-year-old daughter was doing riding around with convicted felons twice her age at 1:30 AM?

This is not just a disgrace to Chiraq nope, this is a national disgrace, our leaders have failed miserably, they should hang their heads and resign. Eddie any news on demotions in examscam2016? Another way boss to earn our trust and respect sir! Oh and Eddie rahm cut off the head fired McCarthy but how many under him need to go, you know the gold star club? Some demotions over here are desirable, but then again change is a constant but here change is stagnant and will produce the same or more negative results!

When do-gooder nation claims there is no good reason for any citizen to carry a weapon with a magazine capacity that has over, what is it, ten rounds, one need only point to the gang of shitbirds that evidently chased that woman in to traffic.

It's getting to the point you need to carry two to three hi-capacity .40 cal or better weapons with you to have a chance of coming home from a walk along the lakefront.

When you "beef up patrols" from severely understaffed to not quite so severely understaffed, it makes no fucking difference. Add in the fact that the beefed up patrol participants simply signed up for some free money while they do as little as possible in whatever box they were assigned to, and you've got quite the recipe for success. Paying cops extra to work on their days off instead of hiring the actual number of cops needed to patrol the city, is a financial strategy, not a policing strategy. Overtime spending is way out of control, but it's still cheaper than getting the department up to full staffing. As long as people keep volunteering to cover for this extreme shortage of manpower, we will not see the hiring we need. Sign up for all that overtime, but don't bitch when you can't get a day off, or when you're in a backlog because half your beat cars are downed, or when you have no backup at whatever crazy call you get stuck with, or when you have to work 99 just so it looks like more cars are manned. You're enabling the manpower shortage by volunteering to fill in. Enjoy your money at the expense of safety, and don't blame anyone but yourselves.

I keep noticing in the threads that someone keeps quoting my favorite super-villain:

"This town needs an enema!"

For best results, the enema should probably be administered by CFD, by way of a 2 1/2" hose. But let's not forget another quote from a different incarnation of the same character:

"It's all part of the plan."

CPD has been picked to be the tip of the spear, so that the hostile elites/shit weasels (pick one) can federalize ALL the police everywhere. Once a high profile precedent is set somewhere, the rest of the country will follow. But wait, there's more! It gets quite entertaining when you really look at things. How about retired Admiral William McRaven appointed to be Chancellor of the University of Texas? A 37-year SEAL veteran to run the state land grant college? He was named the lone finalist for this position at the end of July, 2014, although his Navy retirement wasn't to take effect until September 1. His connection to the school? He attended the school on a track scholarship and graduated with a degree in Journalism in 1977, and was named a Distinguished Alumnus in 2012.

Groovy. But no degree in education, which might be somewhat relevant, wouldn't you think? How about an MBA, which might be even more applicable for running a large university system? Nope. Straight from college (UT) to a 37 year hitch in the Navy, and he gets appointed to this job. And Thomas Wolfe said "You can't go home again" . . . or is this a case of "meritorious clout"? Kind of lines up pretty neat if you look at how FEMA has divided the country up into 9 geographic areas of command.

Hmmmmmmmmm . . . . This couldn't be anything along the lines of a board of military governors being quietly put into position ahead of the declaration of martial law, could it?

Give me 2 1911s . . .
One for each hand . . .
When the Visigoths close in . . .
We can make a final stand . . .
We may not win but we won't give in
We may not even survive . . .
Just give me 2 1911s . . .
