Duck Lives Matter!
- Chicago Police officers made an unusual rescue Saturday morning on the Northwest Side.
Shortly after 10 a.m., Chicago Police officers at O’Hare received a call to assist a citizen on an airport service road, according to a statement from police News Affairs.
When the officers arrived, they found two women trying to rescue a family of ducklings that became trapped in a sewer near the United Airlines Credit Union, police said.
Remember, without baby ducklings, there'd be no Peking Duck later.

I actually think that's pretty awesome. Well done. You guys really are up for anything in the course of duty.
Too bad there wasn't TV coverage of the rescue. Rescuing those little ducks on TV would have been equivalent to saving a dozen lives on the Southside to the Gold Coast pampered elites.

Did anyone interview the ducks at O'Hare Airport to see if they were traumatized by those brutal Chicago Police?
Glad it all worked out well for the ducklings... And for the coppers - sticking your head into a sewer can be a problem because of methane gas build up... I'd have called Streets and San and had them come by - let them ventilate the sewer before going in after the critters...

Probably fair to say that it was a safe environment since the ducks weren't just floating dead in the water.

Seriously, sewer gas can be dangerous.
Hydrogen Sulfide can kill you dead, it is very poisonous.
Ventilate it if posible, good idea observing the duckies.
Make sure you can pull the officer out without entering the sewer yourself.

Chgo sewers are combined. Thats why we flood. The newer suburbs separate them.
Ducklings are food, Chickies are food and bunnies are food. Grow up stupid.
