- SCC - There are out-of-town reporters on hand this weekend to cover any violence that may erupt. Please let the guys and gals know they are equipped with boom mic's. These parabolic mic's are similar to the technology used in professional sports and can capture a whisper from a block away. The average civilian doesn't understand that sometimes gallows humor is necessary to stay sane on this job. These "reporters" also plan to live-stream police response on their websites as post shooting events unfold.

It's true. They showed up on a shooting scene in 004 a few nights ago.
These journalists are in a fact finding mode.

We're damned if we do were damned if we dont, meaning on shooting scenes the media expects you to act like a robot and show no emotion. If you laugh or joke or do whatever makes you comfortable in a non comfortable situation, like every human being does, than you're a racist jag-off, who doesn't care about that precious altar boy who was just killed. Now say you cave and take that same robotic attitude to a traffic stop then guess what you're still an asshole but this time for now showing compassion and acting human. 12 years on and I can count on 1 hand how many legit people I've helped. Two of those were helping an elderly citizen with car trouble. Very fucking sad. Until recently I've always worked, stopped for hand waivers and have tried to do right on this job, but the reality is there's a certain narrative in this country that wants to destroy authority for a socialist agenda to build a social utopian society. Sounds far fetched but read a book called Rules for Radicals. We took this job knowing we'd occasionally have to eat a Shit sandwich, but none of us signed up to have that same Shit sandwich 365 days a year. With this witch hunt every copper should be done. Do what you can to help out the few good people you come across and back up every copper you can, whether they're a dog or even if you can't stand them. Let's face it all we have is each other now. Now that I'm done with my rant I'm gonna leave mommy's basement and go have a Jack on the rocks and bang a fat chick. Stay safe and more importantly stay fetal.

I was a reporter before becoming a cop (actually, the skills of a good reporter and a good cop are pretty interchangeable). But in those days reporters were part of the scene and did understand not only the "humor" but were sometimes part of it. And knew what to write and what not to.
And cops were often good sources for stories -- officially and unofficially.

The premise the MSM is working from is that the only reason the carnage in Chicago is allowed to continue at its present clip is because the victims are overwhelmingly people of color - if whites were being killed and wounded at present rates, by gosh somebody would do something about it. To your flank you have the ACLU, Justice, community organizers, et al. taking shots at you for being too hard on criminals because, again, they are overwhelmingly people of color, and then most civilians regard you with a mixture of trepidation and mistrust. Since when did your ability to police depend on your appearance......if you're going to talk about the 4th District you had better start with the 2nd Watch pathological lying coward Lt. K.O. He's forcing coppers to write movers that they didn't witness in order to boost low numbers on his watch. With everything going on in this city this guy is putting officers at risk merely to feed his own ego. That watch is a complete disaster which should come as no surprise with that Lt. steering it straight to federal indictments......no wonder the tact guys look disheveled, they're trying to hide when heads start to roll.

I'd rather have a Lt. that is out there with his troops and has their backs, than one who routinely hides in his office and fucks over his troops any chance he gets. Someone should remind the second watch Lt. K.O that it's really easy to keep that uniform looking sharp when you're sitting on the bench during the game.

Not one copper on that watch has been forced to write a mover they didn't witness. Not one. You must be a do-nothing malcontent who was recently assigned to a traffic/seat belt mission and came in with zero activity. And those missions are the idea of the Chief of Patrol. If you looked in your CO book you would see that.
And Federal indictments? Now that is comical.

What is wrong with you simpletons who say "call a supervisor" for every little thing? If a reporter is asking you a bunch of questions, you can't just ignore them? You need a supervisor to help you handle it? How the fuck did you even become the police? Do you want Daddy Sgt to tie your shoes for you while he's there too? Supervisors are there to supervise you, not to hold your hand because you're overwhelmed by the tiniest thing.
