Weekend Wrapping Up
And what a weekend it was.
As the sun sets, We have fifty-seven people shot, four of those dead.
We're counting the crime victim run over on Lake Short Drive as a fifth homicide, regardless of what excuses the Department gives - she died in the commission of a felony and if anyone gets caught, they'll face murder charges; ergo, she's a homicide victim.
All totals will become official as HeyJackass.com updates their site - they started counting at noon Friday, but we're only counting from close-of-business Friday.
Next up, the Independence Day weekend - no doubt another 3-day festival of carnage at time-and-one-half.

Only four dead!! The death toll is way down. Can this be due to some of Rahm's Rangers patrolling and keeping order?
Rogers Park probably got the last homicide for the weekend. I;m going to put in for the next new mission team!
Hey Rahm, for the umpteenth time...you cannot run the police dept like a corporation or private business. You cannot do more with less when it comes to public safety. You can't close/combine districts and then let the manpower of one giant district get to that of a regular district, with twice the area to cover. You reap what you sow.
How about this, guys and girls...for the 4th of July week, let's not volunteer for VRI, let's not work your day-off for OT, and don't put in for CTA/CHA. They'd be shitting buildings. Fuck 'em. If they want to, basically, neuter us, blame us, and throw us under the bus, then let's not help them out when they need it. Long weekend, with the 4th on a Monday, toss in the usual festivities that weekend, plus Guns N' Roses at Soldier Field on Friday and Sunday, and you have the makings of a potentially huge shit storm. Let it burn. I didn't work my days off this past weekend, and I won't work my days off on the 4th either. Stick together.
For Chicago, that doesn't sound like a large number.

I agree. That woman running away from the robbery should be a homicide. Nothing because of the numbers but because these little shitheads need to be held accountable. Every single one in that group needs to be charged with murder. This was a very dark weekend for our city. There are homicides everywhere, even in the places that have historically been safe places. We need another 3500-4000 cops hired and just surround downtown and mass transit systems with coppers. Screw the ghettos, you can send the new guys there to deal with That drama, but people need to be everywhere downtown to make it safe. We completely started loosing the beaches when they got rid of summer moble. Anyone remember that?? The beaches, navy pier and downtown were locked down in the summer with summer moble and downtown was actually secure, now it's a free for all. I know people hate units but some units are needed. Units that can actually achieve something, not just one bagger arrests in the ghetto. There needs to be a unit formed of 300-350 coppers that work in a box from lasalle-lake Belmont to Roosevelt. Secure the shopping district, beaches and pier. Pass some city ordinances Relating to mob action/disorderly conduct to take care of the roving groups of degenerate youth.

Agreed I had a great weekend with my family bbq, laughs, love,family time, this is time you can never get back, you can always chase after the buck, but your family time is precious, when you get older looking into the rear view mirror you want to remember family memories, do you think your family will care you worked when you could have enjoyed family time? Our unofficial-official tally is 7 killed, 68 wounded from 12p Friday through early this AM. We haven't yet counted the LSD hit job, but will likely do so soon, which would make for 8 killed.

Memorial Day is to remember those who served their country and made the ultimate sacrifice. We honor those who took up the challenge wearing the Nation's uniform defending freedoms.
Rahm Emanuel thinks its a day to enjoy barbeques and the official beginning of the summer. With an exception or two, those people caught in the crossfire do not contribute to society nor make a contribution. Nor would they serve their country in uniform defending freedoms. Everyday is a vacation or holiday for them in light of the chosen life of being chronically unemployed and publically compensated for evading responsibility.
Memorial Day is for the fallen and should be afforded the dignity as such. It is a reverent national holiday. God Bless those who served our Nation in uniform. America is great because of the sacrifices of our Veterans.
